Close, we spent HALF the budget on comedy writers, because we were practically just two guys developing the whole thing and I was the one who handled narrative. Then again, the budget was pretty much 0, so I guess you could be technically right as well…
It’s always nice seeing someone who appreciates Zenith despite its flaws. Considering its humble origins, it didn’t sell badly and could have even been called a bit of a success… if the publisher hadn’t taken the money and ran away, also leaving us locked out of the console versions in the process haha Ah, the joys of being a small indie developer! I always recommend the PC version, since it’s the one we developed directly (and also the only one we actually own).
If you like the blah and the humour, though, we later made Epic Chef, a much more solid game that is set in the same world as Zenith. “Food Wars in the Discworld” would be a good way to describe it.
In any case, thank you for the kind words, I’m glad you enjoyed the story!

Thanks for taking the time to watch the video. Sucks to hear about your issues with the publisher and thank you for putting so much time into making the game. Even if the game is rough around the edges It was your writing that took the game to another level and I hope this video helps showcase that to those that haven't seen it. Will 100% take a look at Epic Chef m8. Thanks again for the comment. PS If you are ever looking for voicework id love to be involved. :)

@@MitchManix Thanks, mate! Just let me point that without my partner there wouldn't have been a game at all! The ammount of elements he handled was, and still is, colossal. (We also got help from friends at a few stages of development, even if for most of the project we were only two fellas)

First of all. Thanks for you hard work and the games. The world needs more funny games and it is fine if they are a bit clunky or rough around the edges. But now to the MOST important question everyone is asking that just heard of the game and its developer. Where is the music in 23:03 from? Really...I agree with Mitch and that i also think i know the music from somewhere. Sound maybe a bit like from a Silent Hill like game? Maybe an aetheric FinalFantasy X toilet room? How come I’ve never heard of this game? This seems like a really funny rpg parody, especially with “Claude”, “Titus” and “Iris” from “First Fantasy.” I too am a fan of both RPGs, JRPGs and comedy and I would have enjoyed this game. In fact, I’m a fantasy writer myself and I’ve written a lot of Fantasy Stories that are parodies of JRPGs called Fated Journey and a parody saga of the Diablo Clone RPG genre called Dragon Crystal. Right now I’m writing an action adventure mascot platform parody called Three Grunts. And afterward I’ve written the sequel, I’m planning on a Tactical RPG parody series that’s similar to Fire Emblem and Baldur’s Gate 3 called Lord of the Dice.

To anyone interested in this game, the comedy is great and WHEN IT WORKS the gameplay is fun. BUT two HUGE PROBLEMS:
    1. The music volume is LOUD ENOUGH TO CAUSE PERMANENT HEARING DAMAGE. THIS IS NOT A JOKE, I SCIENTIFICALLY MEASURED IT AND YOU WILL NEED OSHA-APPROVED HEARING PROTECTION TO PLAY THIS GAME. And the music is TERRIBLE, too. It sucks so bad. And there is NO VOLUME SLIDER either.
    2. There is a point just a couple of hours in, where you get tossed off a waterfall (17:00 into the video). From this point on for the next hour or two, you basically gain zero money and will not pickup enough health potions either. So you can't go shopping at all because you're broke. And your HP does NOT regenerate between random-encounters on the world map. So even if you survive the portal to hell, YOU WILL DIE soon after. The tiny amount of money you get for defeating enemies is NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH to buy the number of healing potions it will require to keep you alive. Presumably once you reach the other side of the map to continue the main story mission, this condition will improve. But I've tried six new games with different tactics each time and STILL can't get past that point in the game. I promise you, it will make you rage quit at least once at that point.
So if you're going to play it, you'll need the patience of a saint, and you'll need to LEARN TO MASTER THE ART OF THE DODGE in the first hour of the game, too. And you'll need to TURN OFF your entire computer volume. Play some Spotify on your phone instead. Your ears will thank you for it, by which I mean you won't need to learn ASL and sign up for disability benefits after two hours of playing this game.

    23:03 - Swordbust 2 (Sb2) music on floor 2 I think
Floor 2 in that game was called Redveil Grove.
    Sb2 is an rpg.
And was popular on roblox at one time.
Now it’s considered a dead game, which I sometimes play due to music selection such as this one and farming for hours on end for tributes.
Did you play roblox? I did and still do.
Although swordbust 2 is beyond saving at this point with exploiters everywhere you look, based off the absurd requirements to farm for stuff as well as a nerf to anything good for what they want as more players still playing. I still played to help people not at endgame, and I got rewarded horribly, so I’m taking a hiatus. It has essentially become script or pay to win. So I sorta quit.
It’s depressing because I’ve spent so much time in the game, getting weapons from floor 12.5.

For some reason I want to say the song you can't remember is from The Legend of Dragoon a PS1 game.

Some indie dev should call this guy to be a narrator for a Pythonesqe rpg.

I can't specify it, but this reminds me of Motoi Sakuraba's compositions. And yes, I know how little that narrows it down.

The music around 23:11 I think it is similar to Jade Empire. But I am not sure about it. Been ages since I played Jade Empire, and I think I only played the demo.

Is it just me, or is Bill Murray the emperor/unexpected? o_O
Besides this...great video. I will not play the game, but probably recommend it to others.

Both the Minotaur(4:35) and the Imperial Golem(8:24) I've seen used in an indie game called Slendytubbies 3.

I'm only ninety seconds in and I thought for sure this was going to be about The Bard's Tale (which I understand is funny), or Grotesque Tactics (which doesn't seem to be taking itself seriously -- the sequel is subtitled "Dungeons and Donuts) or maybe even Deponia, Monkey Island or King's Quest, though those games are hardly obscure. I wasn't expecting the game in question to ACTUALLY be one I haven't heard of.
