- Hey y'all. In today's video I did a basic walk through on how to Install a crankshaft position sensor in my 2006 Mustang GT. this tutorial isn't limited to just my car and will work on any 4.6 liter V8 ford motor.

Hello
I got two comments
Great work
N one for your
Congrats you have n awesome son who respects his father.
Po340 is a camshaft sensor, not a crankshaft sensor.
Just gonna say, I'm not a dude and I watched it. I'm going to fix boyfriend's car. Thanks for showing me how.
Is the sensor in the same area on my 2014 Ford Mustang V6 3.7? I thought it was between the engine and firewall.
Taught me a lot. I already replaced my sensors but never knew how it all operated together until now. I replaced the intake manifold, fuel injectors, cold air intake, and the radiator lol. I bought performance parts so it would be a win regardless and the worse part is that I read the codes 🤣 and ignored the camshaft code.. no idea why
I bet she's a beast! I'm glad you were able to learn from my video! I can't tell you how much I appreciate that!
Are able to get to the sensor by just jacking it up on a regular jack or ramps?
I did it on ramps
I have code P0346 but I already replaced the sensors and examined the wires. Is it possible the crankshaft sensor actually failed instead of the camshaft position sensor? I am lost. Please help.
Initially I had two codes showing, I replaced my cam shaft sensor (thanks to your video) I only have one code that I can not get to clear. I know 2005 and 2006 mustangs have a tendency to show these codes with an alternator issue but I just replaced mine about a year ago and tested it, its working fine. With a timing issue would one code clear with the cam shaft sensor replacement and one code still show? Care runs fine doesn't really seem like timing, check engine light just wont clear. Thank youP.S. clearly you have one female that watches
Yea a timing issue would likely show itself in other forms such as a rough idle or uneven power distribution as you accelerate. I made a follow up video to this one because the problem actually ended up being my alternator. It was charging the car fine but the diode on the back of the alternator wasn't regulating the electrical current properly and that's what was causing my check engine light. I might make a video talking about this. I've been doing a ton of research about it, it's pretty unique to the 4.6 v8 platform but some other cars have similar problems. Thank you for watching by the way! Glad my channel isn't a COMPLETE sausage fest, lol
Kaidan Odom the only real symptom is the check engine light, every now and then it will idle rough but not even enough to notice if you weren’t looking for it. I synchronized the crank shaft sensor after i replaced the cam shaft sensor. The wiring all looks intact. I may just go ahead and replace the alternator today since I’m off to see if it fixes it. Other then that she runs like smooth af.
@@ashcaretti405 Well I hope you find the cause!
@@ashcaretti405did it fix it ????
Love your video, man!! You say and do and think what a lot of us go through doing our DYI stuff. With that being said, you've got some skill and talent. Consider an apprenticeship or a similar position with your local dealership or shop. You definitely could have a future in the field. Good luck and keep on keepin' on!!
Thank you so much!! Made my day (:
@@kaidanodom was your car having difficult time starter up because I have 2007 stang it take two cranks for it start up it is driving me nuts …
@@s197stang8 No I haven't had that issue, sorry :(
@Kaidan Odom so what made you change crank sensor?
Where is it on my 2014 Ford Mustang V6 3.7?
Thanks this may work i have p340
Is the 2010 GT in the same location as well ??
I can’t say for certain because I’ve never worked on a 2010 but it should be because it’s the same engine
@@kaidanodom ok bet . Thanks bro
Great job my brother!!!
I got 07 stock mustang. Changed out the fuel pump, battery, and starter. The car will crank but won’t run.
Check for spark
Did you figure it out? I have the same problem on my 05 mustang, replaced the fuel pump and it worked for a little bit, then it stalled while I was driving and now it cranks but won’t start
@@fernandoaviles6759 yeah my harmonic balancer was rubbing my crankshaft sensor. After I replaced it, it started right up. Now just gotta replace the harmonic balancer.
Great video !
took all the bolts out and the compressor still won’t drop. am i missing something?
Could be stuck on from being on the car for so long. Definitely double check that you got all the bolts out though
Thank you for this information!!!
All one of me lol 😆 I’m odd I’m a structural mechanic on aero planes ✈️ I’m a mechanic too yeah we love men that work on their cars ! Yes 🤤
I have this same engine code and have read all about it most likely being the alternator instead but I don’t have any side effects of it being alternator where as I have all the side effects of the cps being bad other than misfire. It would be smart to start with the cps right
Yea it’s honestly not very difficult and if I remember correctly the sensor was pretty cheap so it can’t hurt to replace it
Im having that same issue, but my engine sounds like its giving out at low rpms, once I turn it off and back on it runs fine like tf?
Sounds like it might be a misfire? It’s weird that restarting it fixes the issue though
@@kaidanodom I replaced the spark plugs and coils and the check engine light went away, can't tell what it is
Maybe a fueling issue? Possibly the fuel pump
" i don't know do you think im a mechanic " lol
Im trying to help my boyfriend but thank you i laugh at your joke
Haha thank you 😂
Im stuck at how to pull the ax plug out
Just did it today and ran into the same issues with plugs they come off but you might need a metal pick or two to pry the clips gently. I was careful and got them all off
Man hands...couldn't even get the bolt loose
Good stuff, funny
How many sensors do I need to buy because I got a code that popped up ?
I made a follow up video to this one because apparently the root of the problem was actually my alternator going bad. It's actually pretty unusual for the pulse-type sensors to go bad so if you get the p0340 code I definitely recommend getting your alternator tested at a local auto parts store or just testing it yourself. I might make another video talking about this actually. It's fairly common with the 4.6 v8s. Best of luck to you !! (:
Haha....nice job!!!! Hilarious my friend!!!
