Bro it feels like Christmas seeing the notification that you uploaded a video. Loving the content!!!
thank you mikio 🙏
Man... out of all the S197 modders out there on RUclips I've been following for years, your one of the few left. So glad!! My 3V will be with me 4ever so keep up the content and keep the 3V interest alive!
That’s cuz their channel blows up and move on like Nate Ryder.
I had to replace three alternators before realizing that Ford didn't invest in good ground straps and so I put 2 aftermarket straps on, from the alternator to the strut tower and from the alternator directly to the battery. Fixed it thusly.
I put 3 batteries and 3 new Ford alternators in my 06 in its first 5 years! I have seen others online who have done the same! It’s a well known issue with these cars. I read that the fix is to run a ground cable from your negative battery terminal to a bolt on the alternator bracket at the top of the alternator. Doing this ensures that the voltage regulator in the alternator is always seeing the correct battery voltage and will not overcharge it. Without this the voltage field gets messed up and the alternator reads less voltage and ends up overcharging the battery. An automotive engineer in a forum with an early S197 said that this ground cable will prevent this issue. I installed one on my car using a 4 gauge cable. I had bought 55” in length but I did not need nearly that much so I shortened the cable and made it look tidy and zip tied it to the existing wiring harness that runs along the passenger side of the engine. A 24” cable with 3/8” ring terminals on each end will work fine. It’s been a few years since I did that now and no problems, knock on wood!
damn that's a lot of alternators. interesting and good to know 👍
@@Four_Eyes I just discovered these louvers. I was never a fan of louvers but I dig these Lamborghini style ones. The guy told me he got them for $150 on Amazon and I think it included the ones on the rear quarter windows too. I asked him for the link. I think these would look sweet on your car. ruclips.net/video/b3uA783K2iM/видео.html
@@Four_Eyes you can see them at 5:30 mins into the video. I’d probably just use the back window one and leave the ones off the rear quarter windows.
I just replaced my OEM alternator after 15 years 🤷♂️
Since 07 I'm on my 3rd think I'm close to needing a 4th I've seen the check charging system message 1/4 the time I start up still working but I think it's on its last legs
BUT I SUBSCRIBED FOR THE VIPER BUILD?? Me too, Viper video is next.
This video gives an idea of what the T56 swap video will be like - stay tuned.
I subbed for more mustang vids :) Viper is good too.
@@umakemerandy3669 same, bought an s197 because of this guy
Nope S197 all the way.
Mustang was here first! Viper can s*ck it. Lol
@@mecha91 hey now vipers are still cool
Had to change out my alternator last summer. I like how you ran the larger cable under the intake manifold, that’s where I planned on running my nitrous wires🤌🏼
Your editing is the best on youtube 🤌🏽🙌🏽
Good camera angles and clear voice-over. I sold my 05 gt but I’m still here for the party
appreciate you watching still
Just had my former neighbor and go-to mechanic replace the alternator on our 2006 GT. I was getting the dreaded "check charging system" warning. He had it swapped out in no time. Saved me from probably having to get it towed to a shop (we live in the middle of nowhere), so I gladly tipped him $100. Runs like a top now! Love your videos, man.
good news! and thanks ryan
Sound system in the stang? HELL YEAH!
dude such clean work never have i thought to use a heater hose to protect thick gauge wires!!!
haha the audience cheer at the end is an underrated edit LOL
thanks for watching that far brother 🙏
Very clever way to insulate and route the alternator wire. Looking forward to more 👌.
thanks brother
The stock alternator doesn’t last too long. Great replacement with the PA Performance alternator I installed one on my 3V and it works great.
Mine finally crapped the bed. I'd say 15 years is pretty good run
Would this alternator fit on my Mustang it’s a 2005 Ford Mustang Gt V8 4.6
I’m getting a Ultima Select 135 Amp Alternator
Love this type of content! Fast, understandable, and to the point. More videos like this would be awesome!
Wtf that shout out to Mac dre caught me off guard the most underrated goat 🤟🏽
Hi guys, I had the batt light on even after I’ve had replaced a voltage regulator. However I found out that there are like 4 different regulators and the way to see the difference between them is the color of the cover installed in the back (yellow, gray, blue). So I own a Mustang GT 06 and it use the regulator with a gray cover. If you don’t replace the correct regulator, you could have the right voltage but the batt light will be displayed all the time.
Wake up babe new four Eyes video
One of my dream builds. I love this car, looks good, sounds great. Some day i will be like this in terms of build quality
Always enjoy the uploads! Keep them coming, great work.
thanks alex
Glad you went with a PA performace... Their product and customer service is amazing. I actually had a PA Performance alternator fail after going through 4 Motorcraft Alternators... (I think the Socal heat combined with the terrible airflow at their location smokes them). Anyway, they said to send it back and called me back to tell me they found a peice of foreign plastic in it that had melted onto the windings and caused the insulation to fail BUT that they were warrantying it anyway.
I couldnt believe it. I promptly tell anyone to go with them now and run their 1-wire alternator on my Dodge 12 valve as well.
Best 3V content on RUclips
Haven’t had to do this yet, was afraid the intake might have to come off. Glad that’s not the case so I can stop worrying. 👍
These vids are made with so much effort! Great work!
thanks ishak
I must say that was a good video. To the point, close up and personal, and great editing. Very good and articulate work!
I bought an alternator from PA performance as well on August of 2020. This week my alternator went bad, it was over charging and my mechanic diagnosed it was the alternator. I was a little surprised that the alternator only lasted exactly a year. I contacted PA Perfirmance and they replaced it free of charge and even send me a return ticket so I can send the old one back. I'd like to see an update if yours last longer
Yet another quality DIY video from Four Eyes. Bravo Sir!
thanks bud
Man come on with the mustang content. You got me over here in suspense. I’m dying for it. I have a 3v I’m soon to be building.
You literally saved my afternoon. Awesome instructions!
Yes!!!! I love your content man, its such incredible quality!!! I just want more lol. And more mustang content!
thank you bradley 🙏
Cool video and good music. Idk why I watched till the end and I don’t even have a mustang.
Man I wish you got a coyote s197 to just got one and would love a build like that viper is sick though
Still waiting for the rest of the mustang build. Miss seeing it!
Thanks for staying tuned. Mustang video is next.
Love your videos, so thorough and well done!
Great video man.
thanks brew

Love that idea of running the cable through the valley. My two cents, get your alternator from Department of Boost. It doesn't have that fatal flaw that the 05-09 6G-based units have.
This was probably accurate when you commented this, but for future readers: department of boost doesn't offer an alternator for this motor anymore. I contacted them directly and they just recommended I find another denso alternator- which I couldn't- so I just ordered this pa alternator
@@cadeng8168 not only do they not sell that anymore, but the one I bought 4 years ago failed a couple months ago. More specifically, the alternator didn't fail, but the two-bolt system that it used failed (DoB alternator didn't use the Ford upper alternator bracket, and I don't think the two lower bolts from Ford were up to the task)
@@oregonhighway im sorry for your loss :/ ill be plopping in my new alternator Saturday, hopefully this 6G doesn't bite the dust too fast
Followed all your steps intuitively, still have battery light on sadly. Did the battery test again and sure enough car died. Thinking I got a dud alternator. Will update when fixed!
Well explained, and well done. Just found your channel and glad I did.
The infamous 3v alternator problem. I just got a warranty from Oriellys and whenever it goes it I can go and they will replace it for me for free. I can swap out the alternator in about 10 minutes now lol
G re at. The buffering semi circle came up for 5 seconds which was surprisingly short before you disconnected the - cable ..i told AJ at bs gaming live at 9 or 11 pm "i keep seeing that refurbishing half circle chasing its tail" and Damien started laughing
I just did an alternator swap on my 07 about a month ago, I went with the SR performance 200 amp. I wanted a PA performance one, but they wouldn’t have been able to ship it for over a month, and since my car was throwing multiple engine sensor codes, I had to fix it ASAP
Shouldn’t it be the same since they’re both 200 amp.I’ve been trying to see if SR is the same in quality cause the PA are more expensive currently on AM.
Cant wait for the next mustang video
Cool video brotha!
But Im not convinced with the battery. I saw at the end in the volt meter that it dropped to 8 volts when cranking. Try that test again after u have driven the car for a bit so ur battery is fully charged. Minimum of high 9s volts when cranking unless its super cold outside. Thats what i had read when i had battery problems with my Stang.
Got to play that Ghetto Gumbo in my car after you mentioned Mac Dre. Yee!!!!
Would love to see a sunroof on this build🥵💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice installation bro!! So clean
thanks brew
Another great video,sir! Thank You!!
I noticed your getting corrosion on your positive terminal. A suggestion is to use donuts and silicone grease after cleaning them. Then spray the red terminal protector.
Amazing! Thank you man
So I have the same alternator and the power wire from American muscle and still getting 12.46v any idea what it could be
Great job the best video ever just awesome keep up the great work thanks
Never check your charging by disconnecting the battery cable on current vehicles unless you like replacing all the modules in the car. Just as easy to check voltage with engine of compared to engine running.
Hey Four Eyes any chance you’re willing to share with us where you got your lip/splitter? It looks so dang clean!
My alternator on my 08 went on me 2 yrs ago and I was forced to change it myself, it was quite simple
🤩👍 what do you know about Mac Dre,,, it's all good. Love the content
The F&F clip 😂
What are the best spark plugs and coils for 2006 mustang gt ??! Need your opinion on this! What are you running
That was great
I gonna do my alternator upgrade thank you
Sucks for me need to install my PA performance alternator. But I’ve got the Paxton novi 2200 on it, which means the supercharger has to come off. Also the same when you have to change the belt.
Can't wait for the T56 swap!!
me too, once i pass smog im on it...
My man, I gotta say, your Mustang's Engine Bay is 👌
how did i miss this new vid lol
System Voltage should ideally be just shy of 14.5V since that is the 100% charged Voltage of a Lead Acid any staying slighty below that is a good idea. Going over 14.5V will cook the cells dry in the long run.
Yours is at 14.4 aka its perfect.
i'm surprised your stock alternator lasted so long without causing error codes. Most of them leaked AC current into the system causing all sorts of gremlins. So you have a 4 post distribution block with the battery, starter, alternator and fuse box connected to it? I think this is what i'm going to do. My PA performance alternator has been working fine for over 10 years now.
where did you learn to edit videos? or are you just naturally that good
have just done a lot of video work, so like anything you get better over time / experience
Do you have a link for that power distribution block?
Did mine a few years ago. I went with an AC Delco because I didn't trust the oem Ford lol .
Just had to do this on my 06 gt. One problem I ran into was the cars anti theft system going completely crazy as soon as the battery was reconnected after all was put back. If anyone else has this issue, what I had to do was turn the key to the on position and then connect the battery, as soon as battery is connected turn the key back to the off position and press the lock button on the driver side door. This should reset the anti theft and worked for me.
Bro I got an idea for you. What if you did an electric water pump on your car. I'd like to see how much hp it will free up. Maybe 5 maybe 10 more? Might be cool to see
Thorough job, are you an engineer by any chance?
You’re awesome
Great video. Do u have a link or exactly what alternator that one is?;)
I subscribed at the Mac Dre mark
How’s the mustang coming? Can’t wait to see that rematch of you and that ss
I need to swap the tranny, starting that next week. My buddy sold his SS 👎
@@Four_Eyes oh, well keep up the great work, I love the content and the build !!!
Did u put in the new clutch yet?
Hey how long is the driver side bolt on the alternator bracket?
Full on DSP with proper sound deadening?
Actually, it could be voltage regulator fault, i had this one with my car
VR just died, so there was no excitation. 10$ for VR and thats all. But if going to increase system load, there is no other way as replacement of whole alternator
Has anyone ordered from Summit Racing Equipment? I ordered the 200 amp Powermaster Street Alternators 48516
for my 2007 Mustang GT 4.6L V8. I hope I made the right choice, this alternator has a 1 year warranty.
Well done how to! Hows the new motor running?
pretty strong actually, trans is basically at end of life
@@Four_Eyes oh man thats a bummer. Tr3650 probs
I love how you give the specs for torquing your bolts. 🫡
Hey i old video but ive replaced my alternator 6 times now and its gone out again, 3 days after replacing it again. The bushings just wont stop going bad. I bought a PA Performance alternator and im just waiting on it now. I have a 2008 Bullitt which is just a GT with a performance intake from factory. do you think the PA will stop doing this cause its getting very annoying ad im sick of the chinesium coming from Auto zone and the other shops i go to who buy the same garbage "New" stuff
Nice
That’s the only thing that I hated on my 3v. Those alternators have a clutch style internal. So they really don’t like high revs.
I replaced the alternator on my '06 4.6l Town Car (130 amp) with a used alternator from a Crown Vic police car (200 amp). The 200 amp version has a clutch on the front to keep the alternator from tearing up the belt after snapping the throttle shut at high revs. The 200 amp unit extends farther back towards the intake manifold, so it might not work on a 3v engine. ;)
Put a KMJ on my 2V because the parts store ones are crap, a couple 5-6k pulls would destroy them within a few days of putting one on the car.
Keeping My 3v because of you might not be as fast because them mods are crazy expensive
Never, ever remove the negative battery terminal while a modern vehicle is running, it can fry delicate electronic modules like the PCM. I've seen it happen several times, this was an old trick shade-tree car guys used to do in the days before Onboard Diagnostics.
Mac DRE!!!
What kind of sports air filter is that you installed on the right?
they used to be like $49...

Weird question but anybody can help. So I already went threw 2 brand new alternators recently, they’ve been throwing off battery light in cab whenever I floor it. Then my battery starts slowing dying. It’s a 135amp should I buy that upgraded alternator wire?
My mustang is missing the mounting bracket for the alternator, do you know where I could get one? Can't find one anywhere
this?

Can you rebuilt an alternator with a new voltage regulator on one of these ?
Hi four eyes , when is the next mustang vid coming in ?
next week, it's a longer video.. taking a lot of time.
If I could subscribe twice I would
A 10mm?! It’s held in by an Impenetrable security system!
I thought you went back to the stock intake manifold?
Common issues with these cars co worker 07 gt gone through 2 in 1 1/2 years my 05 gt is fine though
How many amps is the new alternator, 200 amps? Mine just died.
yeah 200 peak output
