This guy's dedication to the videos is outstanding. Thanks got this video! Because these two headphones are just basically same price and was looking to get one of these. Gues will get the XM4 as they have more features and sound more clean, the Ult sound a bit off because all the base overwhelming the rest.
A few additional notes for those trying to make a decision between the various available Sony models (I have both the XM4 and the ULT Wear).
1. Design wise, one of the key adjustments they made from the XM4 design compared to ULT, is the problem with the hinges that caused a lot of them to break for XM4 users has been fixed. On the XM4's, when the ear cups would swivel, there was a plastic piece right above the ear cups that stuck out to the side that wasn't round and flush alongside the rest of the headband... it could get caught on things and lead to hinge failure (it did for a lot of people). On the ULT's, it's all the same round shape as it swivels. No non-round portion to get stuck on something and cause it to potentially break. Should make the ULT more reliable in that respect, despite it being made of "less premium materials" in some people's minds. To me, I passed on the XM5 partially due to their non-foldable design and thus giant carrying case that made traveling with them too difficult. So, of those 3 Sony models... the ULT wins, in my mind, as far as design goes. And it's the cheapest of the 3.
2. Most reviews of the ULT's fail to stress the very important point that the three ULT button settings are all USER DEFINED. I've seen so many reviews talk about how "ULT2 is too much bass, and I would never use it" etc. Well, out of the box, ULT2's Clear Bass level is set automatically to +10. If you want it to be +5 or even +1, you just adjust it in the app, and you're set until you decide to go back to the app and change it. They are WHATEVER LEVELS YOU WANT THEM TO BE. That flexibility with setting the ULT button really needs to be stressed to anyone thinking about getting these. It's honestly the biggest selling point of this model, and barely anyone is mentioning that the ULT button settings are adjustable. I was initially under the wrong impression that they're just two bass levels you're stuck with as the only option, and that ULT2 is "too much," according to most reviewers. Uninformed people, who are just doing a disservice to their viewers by not accurately describing the feature. The button just serves as a physical way to toggle between 3 different user set bass levels ("off," and then #1 and #2). They can be adjusted to your liking. Once you do that, you just use the button to alternate between them, without needing to open the app. Makes things so easy.
3. The ULT's really just feel more comfortable than the XM4's. Maybe the "plastic doesn't feel as soft." Maybe. But that's kinda nonsense. They're both plastic. The ear pads on the ULT's are arguably more comfortable than the XM4's.
The ULT's are my new everyday walk around headphones. Despite being considerably cheaper than the XM4's. And I'm not really a "bass head." Take that for what it's worth, y'all!

Are the ults much bigger in size? I really want them but I'm thinking of getting the xm4s instead bc I'm not a huge fan of bulky headphones.
And, if I do get xm4s, can I still get good bass by equalizing them on the app?
@@victoriamolina5476The ULT are a fraction of an inch thicker. They honestly don’t feel much different than the XM4. Slightly different ear pads. You can EQ the bass on the XM4, yes. It’s just not as “boomy” as is possible with the ULT. If you don’t need a ton of bass, and you want them slightly smaller, go with XM4.

Wow, been almost 4 years since the released day of XM4, I feel like XM4 still very good, I am very grateful to have it though the price was very expensive.

I am still using my WH-1000XM4 even after 4 years, the build quality speaks for themselves. If you guys want a good all round headphones buy XM4.

You’re right. I love and use them for work! I initially got the 910s from best buy but exchanged them within 2 days for the XM4s. Haven’t regretted that business decision🔥

Ouch, I got to say, though xm4 should remove some low end noise more, in this sample its almost the same, while ultwear got less high noise... its like xm5 anc on manual with slightly worse lows...

I had the xm3s. Sold them when i found out they handled cold temperatures very bad. Then i got the xm4s. And later on sold them and got the xm5s.. Sold the xm5s after a short while. Didnt like the design/comfort of the headband and the pads. Got the Sony ult wear today. The bass is good on ult off and better on ult 1. On 2 its too much. And on some music its better with ult off. For me, after an short listening time, the ult wear is an good headphones to use, when i need anc and want that extra thump/bass. But im an little hedphone geek, so i like to switch headphones/iems for my mood or usage case. But my wallet are crying 😂😂😂

3 years later I just replaced the cushions on my xm4 with Wicked cushions and now they are as amazing as the first day I bought them.

Ult wear seems better at canceling people chatting, it would have been nice to see another test canceling low frequency noises, to see the difference.
I just used them on a plane… they are equally good at plane noise cancelling as the XM4’s I’ve been using.

I went to the JB Hi-Fi store yesterday and tried them out! The Sony Ult is not that comfortable and is heavier! also, the sound clarity was less, even on default settings, because of the bass. I ordered the XB910 after watching a ton of reviews! The Sony XM4 is now four years old and very expensive. I would say wait for a sale to buy them, or otherwise go for the XB910
They're not that comfortable to you but I'm suspecting that's just not the case for most....I've had them for three days now and they're super comfortable. Weight is nearly identical to the XM5s so if you consider these heavy I guess you think that the relatively light XM5s are heavy too, but they're not. I personally like them a lot and it's a shame you didn't like them but I do understand not everyone agrees when it comes to tastes in anything....
from bass perspective is this better than cloud alpha?
Absolutely more bass, switched from Cloud Alpha to XM3, and it was a huge difference.
I still have my XM2 😅 Thinking if I should upgrade to XM4 or ULT.
Go w the Xm4s, get a nice lightly used pair..

Hi, could you please suggest me the best earbuds for a Deep and punchy Bass? I currently have the Jabra elite 75t, and I love them. But unfortunatelly one morning I woke up with one of my Jabra ear buds in my mouth. Been sucking it all night and now it has broke... It sounds very low volume compared to the other one. So I have to get a new pair of earbuds. But i'm a die hard BASSHEAD and i always listen to EDM music. I WANT earbuds with BIGGEST, DEEPEST BASS you can get. When i put them on, I want to feel like I'm in a nightclub ! And I want them as LOUD AS POSSIBE !!!!!!!!!! I don't care about noise cancelling or anything else. I JUST WANT THE HEAVY BASS, and audio quality is EVERYTHING for me in the earbuds. I dont care about any ANC, call quality, or anything else. All I want is BASS and LOUDNESS to be like in a night club all the time ! And I want a good fit and seal like Jabra elite 75t had with silicone eartips and no stupid sticking out sticks like airpods have. I really like the kind of the design the Jabra elite 75t has. So anything similar more or less without the idiotic sticking out long sticks like airpods have.
Soundcore liberty 3 pro since you dont like stems. But if you dont mind stems the Oneplus buds 2 pro have that kind of bass

Depends what you are looking for. I have the XM4 and just got the ULT and I prefer the ULT due to the bass. Will likely be using the ULT more frequently than the XM4.
The sound of these Ult Wear is horribly bloated and muddy. This will make your music listening very non enjoyable experience.

I would like to unironically propose that you introduce a noise-cancellation test using a sound clip of screaming children. This appears to be the achilles heel of many noise-cancellation headphones, but is something that I reckon many people would like to use NC for.
