- G’DAY OWFsquad, welcome to my 47th flight in 2019! On 30rth September, I flew American Airlines AA125 service from Dallas Fort Worth to Hong Kong in the main cabin extra (economy class plus). Only American Airlines fly from DFW to Hong Kong. The service is daily, operated by a B777-300ER. A significant number of passengers have onward connecting flights at both DFW and Hong Kong.

One World Flyer really long flight
I’m looking for even longer ones😎
@@JaydenWong SQ21/22 lol
Try SQ 37 or 36 next time. I have done this flights many times. Rather expensive but you can compare if it is worth the extra money.
How many HK style milk tea did you drank on the flight. Addicted to it 😂
This is one of the best travel videos I have seen on RUclips, everything was explained and showed, hope to travel to Hong Kong soon with my family after this pandemic, please keep up the good work bro.
thanks Brandon! Once borders reopen HK will welcome you with open arms :)
Nice long haul report. I always appreciate your style and detail in reviewing. Great window views. Nice coat huke too! 😀 Really like your Q&A. I wish you continued success.
Thank you Steve! I don't recall a coat hook on the seat which is weird, thank god there was on in the lavatory😌
Thank God indeedy do. The plane lavatory 🧻 usually comes through with a good huke. ⤴️
I like the pilot announcements and updates on PA... good video! 👍🏻👍🏻
yep I enjoy listening to them too! Thanks for watching :)
Thank you for showing the take off and landing in real time, and love your videos
You’re welcome Todd! I thought everyone should love the takeoff and landing haha 😊
I enjoyed your perspective and sense of humor. Thanks for the video!
No worries, thank you very much for watching Craig!
This is a great video! Detailed review, thank you man
thank you very much Jason!
You are a young man of considerable talent. And very adventurous to try AA -- I have only flown Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong. Very well done, OWF!!!
Thanks very much for watching! For review and curiosity sake I flew AA, I can safe CX is a safer option😂
Great video from the American Airlines Triple!!! She’s a great ship to take a trip on!!! All the best from the west coast of Florida USA!!!
Thanks very much for watching pilot in command 👨🏻✈️ Have a good weekend ahead!!
Hi there! Great video mate! I really enjoy your style of Trip Report videos and wish you a good day and keep it up! cheerio
Thanks very much for your kind comment mate! Much appreciated, have a good one :D
thank you love your sweet Accent. your mother can be proud of you
Thanks for your kind words 😊😊
Always a pleasure watching your videos mate
thanks very much for watching mate :D
Terrific review. Normally all the reviews are for First or Business class; this is an excellent review of the Coach cabin experience. Food doesn't look too far off than what's served in business class on this route.
Thanks very much for watching this one! I flew Delta twice on that same route (HK to Tokyo) one time in economy another time in business. Same food, just different presentation lol!
Excellent review! You narrate really well. Subscribed :)
thank you so much for watching and subscribing!!
I fly through DFW regularly and really like Terminal D. Very nicely done. New subscriber.
I love DFW! Particularly the skylink and the new lounge. Will be back again in July! Thanks very much for watching David :)
I’m happy to see you back at my home airport. I’m happy you enjoyed Terminal D. Hopefully you enjoyed that terminal as much as I do! That lounge took three years to remodel. Way too long! I look forward to your next video. Safe travels and stay safe from caronavirus.
Thanks very much for watching mate! I'm so happy the lounge finally opened, it was 'worth' the wait haha! Happy travels and stay fit and healthy💪🏻
Very thorough review of the American flight. Well done!
thank you😊
great flight like always i enjoyed greetings
Great video as always. Not flown AA before but it looks nice. Ur mums food n drinks choices looked delicious! The best was ur face when u got ur Hong Kong milk tea 😁
haha I ate her fried rice😂it really was so good!! With the milk tea it was just 👌🏼Feel like I was in a local Hk restaurant. Thank you Nicky!
Oh my goodness 🙌 what a marathon! I want to get of my flight after 8 hrs in business class....don't know how you managed this super long haul flight in economy 😮 nice upload mate 👍
Hahaha lots of milk tea. Good tea good flight. Thanks Notts Boy😝
@@JaydenWong no problem ☺
Now that is a long flight Jayden, and one I`d be reluctant to undertake. Anything more than about eight hours is an ordeal for me! I was so glad you had those extra five inches of legroom. To be honest, there was little about this flight that would encourage me to choose AA long haul, and one of those flight attendants scared me! I was impressed however with the DFW Lounge which is the best I`ve seen from AA. So many airlines still on your "to-do list!"
yes a stop in Tokyo would be nice for a flight like this one, ie 12 hours then another 5. Haha I know which crew member scared you😂The new DFW lounge is really nice, including the staff. It's good that oneworld sapphire members can use that lounge even when flying AA domestic, another great oneworld perk😝thanks Pierre :)
Great review as usual Jayden
Cheers Steven!!
I’ve done this flight before. It was so long but once we got to Hong Kong it was well worth the wait!!
haha yes totally!
adorei o seu video, que linda vista da Cidade de Hong Kong, meus Parabens!
Muito obrigado por assistir!
Eu também amo minha cidade Hong Kong😝
Thanks OWF - I enjoy your very personal assessments, including of the food. Nothing ever seems bad, just degrees of good :)
The catering times and options on ULH are difficult. IIRC HKG-BOS departs early evening serving a dinner, but then serves breakfast around 13 hours into the flight, before a 2050 arrival into BOS.
Overall AA economy seems a lot better than I expected.
Thanks very much for watching! Yep agree! Though main portions are tiny, but at least there's a mid-flight snack too. You get cup noodles on Cathay lol. It was a good surprise from AA
@@JaydenWong I like cup noodles :) And I suppose dim sum can be breakfast or diner.
First time watching your videos. I love your channel. I subscribed. Road to 100k
thanks very much mate!!
Awesome video, keep up the great work!
Thank you Josiah mate!
I flew this route in the other direction back in 2017. It was actually better than I expected, but my expectations were pretty low so take that for what it's worth.
thanks very much for watching, I also had a pretty low expectations so I thought this flight was good too. considering the ticket to Hong Kong cost as little as $400 return on AA while other airlines like Cathay are asking for $700 or more. I thought this was pretty good! :)
I found a great channel today and subscribe d immediately when I have seen the phrase 46th flight. Thank you please go on and make more videos. Thanks

Thank you so much for subscribing!!
wow Jayden, incredible review!!! I love so much these in depth ultra long-haul reviews and yours was just top notch. The after take-off banking footage was just so beautiful, and the approach into HKG stunning as usual. This must be my favourite review from you so far. Congrats my friend!!
thanks very much for watching this one! The approach into HK was great, but I hope the weather was better haha. Have a good weekend ahead!!
Excellent report mate. Took this same flight in December and will have my report out next week :D Strangely enough, we never received menu cards on the flight even though the food options were the exact same. I had that very same tofu meal and midflight snack XD
hmmm maybe they've cut back on that already😂I look forward to you your view on the tofu meal haha, thanks for watching!
Great video on this very long flight OWF!
Getting those extra inches of legroom is a great bonus on these long flights. The service looks quite mediocre though, especially the food..
Regards,
Brendan
Thanks very much for watching Brendan! The legroom made up for the service haha
My friend took this route in business class! He was AA125 Dallas to Hong Kong! I didn’t know it’s their longest route! I live in Dallas so this is good to know! Also I always fly American when I travel by air.
Thanks very much for watching! Wow in business for such a long haul must've been great!
Great video like always. That's a pretty good lounge, wonder how it compares to Polaris
I wonder too! Never been to one and it’s strictly for those in the biz cabin. Thanks very much for watching :)
Nice review~! Enjoy your flight always :)
thank you very much! :)
Top one mate! Pretty keen to try one of those AA HK milk teas! The crew did appear a bit dull from a viewers perspective as well. Bloody longgg flight! Also great view coming in to land in HK. Good job mate!
Thanks for watching Luke! You'll have to fly AA to or from HK for the milk tea haha. Speaking off AA, flying return from MEL/SYD to USA is only $690 on QF/AA/Fiji/United😱
Yeah that Price is super cheap! Think the cheapest I’ve seen is around $749+
I am almost certain there will be more discounted fares on offer shortly, due to the economic impact from the virus. I believe Qantas has said this year they will lose out on 100 - 150 million in revenue from the Asain market, so I am sure the marketing teams will be keen to spark some interest when people are keen and able to fly again! Back to Oz soon?
yep flying on Friday! I already know what our aviation management lectures will cover this year 🦠🦠🦠
I mentioned nothing you wouldn’t know, I am sure of that haha! Nice, I’ll be flying Sunday
@@LukeCrisp wahhh where to?
Love your content :)
thanks!! i'm glad you do :)
That is an awesome experience with AA, Jayden! The meal looked great too in my opinion, although the breakfast looked standard though.
Thanks Yoel! American breakfast was alright, really liked that yogurt hahaha
One World Flyer i had a very low expectation towards US airlines in long haul flights but after watching your video, it changed my expectation in a good way.
The Drinks at 15:38 is classic stuff. The Hong Kong milk tea can do it
“Your BEST friend Google...” I WAS WONDERING WHY YOU GOT ALL THESE TIME TO FLY. LOL Anyway thanks for the great content.
Hahaha I like this one 😂😂 Thanks for watching!!
Wow!!! What a great vlog. You've got a new subscriber out of me. Looking forward to new vlogs.
thanks very much! welcome onboard :)
Great report!!
Thanks David :)
Great Video👍
thank you Alice!!
Are u obsessed with coat hooks p.s. I love ur reviews they are exactly what I want and before I went to Switzerland I watched ur Swiss air economy review
love your bro.....i was a flight attendant for over 12 years
thank you!! :)
Amazing video as always!! Btw , will you fly the world’s longest flight from Singapore - Newark??
yep hopefully, I need to save up for that flight though :)
thanks for watching!!
Congrats on your new logo.
thank you Antonio!!
Thanks for sharing info
you're welcome, thanks for watching :)
Great shots of the wing on take off mate !! Some great views but agree about closing the window blinds ?? Why !! Gelato may not freeze like ice cream ?? Just a thought !! Glad to see your Mum has a few drinks on the flight !! Right Here Right Now...a few minus points re cabin crew and some of the food...plus points seating and some of the food. Thanks mate for another terrific report...and as always I look forward to next Thursday !! Well done !
Gelato needs to be served in high temperature so it's kept in a warmer container and hence not frozen when served to us :)
Mum just wanted to get drunk and fall asleep 😂she watched 2 movies and thought we were near HK, she asked me how long we got left, I said 11 hours, she rolled her eyes. Thanks very much Craig!!
Always, a delightful review, thank you!
3 - 4 - 3 in economy is a DISGRACE!
747, OK.
We will not fly economy on an (or any), airline that compromises their customers in this way.
B777 should only be 3 - 3 - 3.
Agree! For US carriers, Delta is the way to go. Thanks Mark :)
Mark and Suriyon Phanason Kathu on Ethiopian on their 787 and 777 they have 3-3-3 with plenty of room
I totally agree with the 777 having a 3-3-3 configuration.
@@JaydenWong prior to AA debuting premium economy, the main cabin extra seats on the 777-300 were 3-3-3 with an extra inch of width and in a separate mini cabin while regular coach was 3-4-3.
Love ur vids
thanks!!
Yes the lounge is nice...and yeah I am no fan of western carriers when it comes to their meals...but all in all not bad but could be better...👏
good thing i ate a lot of omelettes in the lounge 😝
Thank you for another wonderful trip report. What is your airline of choice for flights between Hong Kong and Europe?
Thank you Simon! Cathay Pacific is definitely one, Finnair is quite nice. I would love to try Qatar one day :)
nice video, very professional 👋👋👋
thank you Alvin!!
Another absolutely outstanding review! How did you feel after walking off? AA looked pretty decent and as you say they do have a couple of noticeable touches that make you feel more like a “guest” instead of a statistic. I love the 77W a lot but have never flown out of London with AA but I think after this vlog I would like to try them. Now you’ve flown 16 hours, can I challenge you to try Melbourne to London?! A huge thank you for sharing!
Thanks Nacho!! I actually felt so good, arrival time wasn’t too early or too late. I have a challenge in my mind!! Perth to London, or hopefully Sydney to London or New York direct. And the challenge will be sitting in the middle seat😝😝
I got so excited when I saw it was a 36 minute video! And then of course it was my country‘s flagship Carrier, and then appropriately at the end you answered my question. Thanks for not forgetting Jayden! Great job with the editing, and I do love the Q&A. I wish every channel would do it, it’s so personal, but then again that’s what separates you from the others. See you in the next vid!❤️👍✈️
Long video for a long flight😝i hope i answered it well and you agreed with what I said haha! I am thinking that I should do this permanently :)
I hope the cruise trip went well!
One World Flyer My birthday cruise was great, thanks for asking! I do agree with you that most flights are just fine. I’ve seen a lot of reviews on Lufthansa though and most reviews by the big name RUclipsrs do show that airline to be more like a 3 or 4 star than a 5. Seems like Lufthansa bought that rating. Anyway, I hope all is well with you & the family in Hong Kong and that you’re safe from the virus!
@@dianeschroeder3980 I was wondering if you were on one of the many infected cruises!! Good to know you weren't and you had a great trip!! I'm sure you're so looking forward to my Lufthansa 747 video haha. Well, before that, mask on for my Virgin flight to Australia next week! :)
One World Flyer I only went to Catalina and Ensenada! I didn’t go to China ha ha!! Yeah I’ll probably laugh my way through the Lufthansa video. I really hope you are wearing a mask!
sam chui also loved the omlette bar at the lounge.
haha not surprised!!
Outstanding video quality and content. What program do you use to edit the footage?
Thank you Michael! I use iMovie on Mac :)
Enjoyed your video.
thank you Mike! I'm glad you did :)
Lmao the destination is......I don’t know 😂
indeed😂
You are getting more and more humorous mate.
I'm glad you find it that way, thanks Sam :D
Those GE90's Roar!!🐅
😍😍😍
I like your video and American airlines
thanks Jacky!
I enjoy a lot the video! About the windows blind....I'm one of those passsengers which can't get a sleep during the flight, and love to watch outside!I understand, but don't agree the idea
to put down the windows blind on a long haul flights! Or at least not to be obligated to do that!Thank you, take care ,and see you on your next flight!
same here, I understand, but I don’t agree with the idea😂😂😂 thanks very much for watching and have a good day!
The flight attendant at 7:15looks messy and passing the forms like whatever😂
The review is amazing.
The service is great 👍
Thanks for watching Josue! That crew was like: Imma stare at the galley, walk straight, hand 2 cards left, then right, then left😂
One World Flyer 😂😂
Thank you for braving through such a long flight in economy for us! (and making a great video and review about it) It really shows your dedication! And hi to your mom, making an appearance! 😋
haha no worries, fortunately it wasn't too uncomfortable :)
Haha if mum finds this video I'm in trouble
😯
Nice mate!!! I’m trying to get an international night flight this spring😭😭
go to Taipei!
I like the summary at the end of your journey and great views of Hong King coming into land .
Thank you Colin😊 Yeah view of Hk pretty good that day, but could’ve been clearer
Great vid Jayden. If people want to use a wifi for full flight, they need to pay for it. I think people can use Wifi to stream some movies and music onboard. Overall, the entertainment screen looks good- in Better quality Resolution and you can use the maps to track flight! This is similar to Google Earth!
that’s correct, you can watch movies, music and listen to music with your own device for free. That’s something I forgot to mention! thanks very much for watching my friend!
“When there is something bad about the plane” got me
Another very good video Jayden. I have done that flight on AA myself twice. I wish you could share your secret for 4-5 hours of sleeping on a plane! 😅
I bet you weren’t in cattle class like my mum and I?😜😜 Actually I do have a trick in business or any flat bed seat. Don’t have it 180 flat, or if you do, have 2 pillows for your head because when the plane cruises, it’s tilted slight upwards so a 180 bed is probably 185 in reality!
@@JaydenWong you won 🥇 that bet! 😅😂
Great video! What is your advice for getting through a long flight?
dress comfortably! You'll see that I changed to a loose short (the crisps scene). Shoes off but socks on :)
Due to your description, I now have an idea that prior to the pandemic (as well as prior to this route being discontinued), it seemed like a some passengers who flew between Hong Kong and some parts South America also flew there via American Airlines as a part of their one-stop options as well between the two cities besides via Middle Eastern, European airlines, as well as along with via its competitor United.
yeah most certainly! Via Australia/NZ or USA.
Thanks for the nice video, Jayden! I'm glad you enjoyed the trip. I saw the legroom you had was great, but was surprised you didn't comment on the seat width with the new 10-abreast seating on the 777. What were your thoughts on that? I agree that the new Flagship Lounge at DFW is great. Safe travels!
The 10-abreast is not too bad but not ideal either. It wasn't uncomfortable for mum and I because the first two rows have only got two seats by the window so it felt less cramped. Cheers Mike😝✈️
Now that’s a pretty good AA lounge. Google is everyone’s friend and who would skip the GE90 start up 😉
Certainly one of their best lounges! Google is my best friend for life, Google Scholar can bugger off😂thanks Dave!
Nice video again Jayden! The extra legroom of the seat definitely saves you when the flight is that long :P !
yep, I slept pretty well in spite of the narrow seats :D
Thanks Edin!
I miss HK. I went there in July 3-6, 2018!! I went on Delta from PDX-SEA, SEA-HKG, HKG-PVG, (bullet train PVG-PEK), PEK-SEA, & then SEA-PDX. I love Atlanta's Delta. It's less disappointing 😁😁
I miss Delta's presence in HKG! I used to fly them a lot to NRT!!
Its good too see the Q&A the past few weeks😍
I'm glad that you're enjoying them ;)
Wow! You practically got two windows to yourself. I love the views you got onboard especially the approach on HKG! 😍😍 I think it's a bummer that you never get to drink with your mom on this flight. Just curious, how do they know you aren't legal yet to drink in US? Do they ask you or something? 🤔 I see you got to enjoy the food! They served so many 😂😂
Great trip report as always Jayden! Stay healthy!! (will say this until the outbreak ends 😓🙏)
yes two windows was great! Hope the day was clearer, the approach would of been stunning! I always get ID-ed haha, I look way to young in their eyes. I still get ID-ed when I enter the Qantas lounges. Thanks Carl, stay fit and healthy💪🏻
Indeed, you look young! 😂
Nice video. It was interesting to see an American long haul flight (which I have never taken because of AA's less than stellar reputation.) Most of my long haul is with Asian or Middle Eastern carriers. Sorry, AA, but no comparison. BTW, HKG is one of my favorites cities to fly into, day or night.
Thanks very much for watching! Yes there are many better options to fly from USA to HK, Cathay Pacific, JAL etc. but it was nice to fly AA, review it and share it with you guys😊
Hi Jayden! Glad you enjoyed AA. I noticed they did not serve any salad on the hot meal unlike on their usual meal service. In my opinion, i still prefer the old 777 configuration of 3-3-3. I just had United 777 with the 3-4-3 and it is really not comforting. Also i think it is typical that US cabin crew are not very service oriented compare to asian carriers. Nice review!
Yep straight to the main haha, I didn’t notice that so thanks for pointing it out! I want to try Delta 777 because even the refurbished ones are still 3-3-3😍 Thanks very much for watching Owen :)
One World Flyer yeah i think delta is better even their wifi service is better, and cheaper compare to United, Southwest and Alaska. Safe travels bro.
@@OwenTravels Delta is often not cheaper! But if AA's low ticket prices leads to low pay for FA and other employees, that could explain in a large way why staff is demotivated. Delta has a different business model. Pay staff well so they feel proud to come to work. To pay more, they need to charge more for tickets. Easy to understand, even for a bargain hunting passenger like me. 😉
Unfortunately, it would be extremely difficult for passengers to effect a change. AA has been getting away with their stingy behavior for so long that it appears they are utterly deaf to the need for decency in the way they treat their employees. 😥 I don't want a bargain if it means suffering for the employees. I 'll choose Delta.
great video! my family took that flight some months ago and I don't know how we survived that long flight, Anyway, DFW Airport calls them Terminals not Concourses, just to nitpick
Thanks for watching Chris! I don't know how I survived too, I don't really recall what I was doing when I was not filming. Thanks for letting me know that it's terminal not concourse, I have no idea how I got that word from😂I was even thinking why they call it concourse
Some airports do use concourse to describe their buildings. We knew what you were talking about. 😉
As always, great job.
gracias!
White Rum&Tonic.....? 😳 strange combo 🙌🏼
I don't know how mum did it😂
Nice mate👍
thanks!!
This is amazing. I love it :)
Thanks Tom :)
And did anyone notice the pushback clip is part of the new intro of your videos
Superb..helpful for me as I'm flying MCE this weekend!
awesome!! Enjoy the free alcohol and extra legroom :) Thanks Neil!
Great review Jayden! The first Mandarin announcement was funny, feels like she drag on and on and on..... CA not really happy through out the services but I heard this is normal for US airlines. Anyway one can argue they're there for other important things, but a Hi! and a smile can make a big difference to customer experience. Good stuff mate!
haha sounded like a cute little doll 😂 Yep just a Hi would a huge difference to customer satisfaction I’m sure. thanks very much for checking this video out mate 😊
3:45 that 777-200ER destination is probably somewhere in Mars ✌ great trip report and the meals though in flight is great yum 🥂
😂😂
Hey bro you should make a video about tips and tricks on long haul flights. Like things to bring, and things to do etc... to pass the time on long haul flights.
I’m from San Francisco and I always fly to Malaysia. So we either fly from SF -> Hong Kong -> Kuala Lumpur OR SF -> Singapore -> Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately there is no direct flight from San Francisco to Malaysia :(
Thanks for the idea! I'm sure you'll appreciate it since you fly long haul at least once a year haha
Great work, great video! Thanks!
thank you for watching :D
A little indifferent and certainly having to shut blinds would really infuriate me as that’s part of the enjoyment. Staff not smiling is also a no no , everyone can have a bad day but remember people have saved months for their annual holiday and they don’t want miserable staff lol . Another great report but it didn’t excite me and wouldn’t rush to book them on such a long flight. Cheers Jayden 👍🇬🇧
Thank you very for watching and spending time in writing this lovely comment Kieron! indeed, this would’ve been a fabulous flight if the crew were all nicer and look happier. fortunately some aspects of the flight mate this flight quite okay, like the extra legroom and the view outside! And yes, never need to rush to book an AA flight 🤣
Good video
Thanks!!
it is long because of the adverse stream, not because of the distance. coming back from HK to DFW would be 13-14 hrs max.
Still the longest for AA, both in terms of distance and flight time :)
Thanks for watching Martin!
I'm surprised to see them served a lot of drinks for this flight. The catering service was much better than what I had expected on an US carrier. I surely have to try AA in the future, it's way better than what I thought
Yep I had the same impression! Their international long haul offering is a lot more generous than domestic (even to Hawaii you barely get anything!!)
Hopefully u will do more airlines from Europe & the Americas...
me too haha
sigh... i need to think which frequent flyer program on one world is best!!!! i mean... almost all their program to reached the most of tiers are expensive ah!!! any ideas?
btw... fix the quality.. it was a bit shady imo
solid vid
Qantas, Qatar and BA are some of the easiest I heard. Qantas and Qatar both doing double credits/miles at the moment!
Are you referring to the random flashes? That’s iMovie bugs, happening to a lot of iMovie users for a while. I’m waiting Apple to fix it😵 Thanks for watching!
Great video
at 9:10-9:58 have Taiwan national language, and IFE screen is some problem but very more movies to watch then the flight meal is real salty and dry that disappointed is toliet is so many dirty points.
haha yes I LOVE that PA. Thank you for watching!
It's interesting they have the oshibori service on this flight. Maybe it's only on Asian flights to match their Oneworld brothers JL and CX. It is certainly not even on the JFK-LHR runs when I have been on them, maybe possibly because it's a much shorter flight?
Thanks very much for watching! I heard before it's because they code-share HK-USA with Cathay, they have to meet the service standards with Cathay as much as possible. Same goes for the Tokyo flights of course, they code-share with JAL. AA website says for Asia, 'spirits are included only on Japan (NRT / HND) and Hong Kong (HKG) flights.' So no spirits on flights to Mainland China and Korea! Possibly no oshibori to Mainland China and Korea too
