Glad to see you this week… quite the journey you’ve taken yourself through. And I have been through many of the same decision/ indecision points. I would suggest you do take the time to put that second sleeve on the dress… it will change how the garment sits on you, and you need to see if the overall picture is to your expectations. There is so much fine geometry in turning flat fabric into a three dimensional form to cover our unique selves…and you really can’t fine tune till you see it. And then wear it do do some housework or laundry to make sure you have an acceptable range of motion. That is the reason I will often do a wearable muslin…not to necessarily wear it OUT of the house, but if I can’t comfortably reach the steering wheel to drive myself to work in the dark…I won’t wear the real thing. I have found that if I allow myself even just a sunshine break mid day in winter, my mood improves greatly. That’s a discipline I struggled with I lived in several parts of the US. Now that I am living in Florida again, it isn’t as much of an issue, but working in a room without windows sucks life out of me. Looking forward to your progress…and keep up the good work! Just found you, and I loved your video! Decades ago, long before the internet, when I sewed as a young mom, most things I sewed seemed to be just fine. Then I stopped sewing for a very long time. In the spring of 2018, I stumbled upon the online sewing community and began sewing again. This time, however, I feel hyper aware of fitting details, probably because of watching videos. I am glad to be perfecting my craft, but it has taken a conscious effort to not be overwhelmed with self doubt and disappointment. I have to focus on the joy I get from planning my projects and sewing them. I try to remember that I am always learning, and that mistakes are ok. I'm looking forward to more videos from you!
