I put together what I consider to be my list of the funniest movies of all time. These are all comedies, of course. All my favorites! Only feature length films too... no stand-up comedies, shorts, or TV programs. These are in no particular order. I discussed a lot of these picks on Rental Reviews, but I wanted to put them all in one video. Check these films out whenever you can, especially if you need a good laugh!

AWESOME
Hello. Do you know my friend Joe?
lol, joe is my friend!🤨
It's not yours☹😜
no
He return!!!! Yess!!!
Everything Leslie Neilsen did was pure gold. He could play the straight man in a chaotic world better than anyone else.
I just love listening to James talking about the movies he likes
Me too my dude
I agree. It's very soothing to hear him talk about something that he is very knowledgeable and passionate about.
I'm with you, James has that kind of touch to explain very humble and sincere about movies. Thank you James!
I've been watching James long enough to know It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World was going to be number one.
Me Too my favorite thing was when he would get together for the home movie rental talks... Those videos were great
Legitimately surprised at not mention of "The Princess Bride" ... So iconic. Speak of a quotable comedy.
movies are mostly just quotable by fans though. Mý favorite movies are véry quotable by me, but almost no-one else would get them.
Very quotable. Iconic. Funny? ...well, it had its moments
1:38 he addressed exactly what you’re talking about, and why a movie you or I find great or so iconic and quotable (you’re definitely not wrong) might not be included on his list:
“What makes you laugh is so unique to who you are. Everyone has different tastes and different senses of humor.”
I remember almost dying from laughter from that Ace Ventura 2 scene where Ventura comes out of a mechanical rhinoceros.
Ha!, the scene with the 2 spears in his legs gets me every time too!.
I’m just a curious little rhino
The conference room scene with the projector. I rewinded 38 times I was laughing so hard hahah
@@Aenygma_ Hey Oh, Silver! Away!
Dude same
I grew up on a healthy dose of The Pink Panther films with Peter Sellers. Those movies should be studied in film schools.
Hey! The word whammer destruction guy!
Why isn't he verified? 🤔
Tom and Jerry.
James should have talked about Dr.Strangelove’s dark comedy
In my opinion those movies are the best in the comedy section. Peter Sellers is so F******* funny!
@William Tuttle that was actually the 5th Pink Panther movie
I can't even express how happy I feel when I see a video that includes only James sitting on the couch talking about what he likes. There's something almost magnetic about his love and affection for movies and it's a weird thing too because he's known for video games. Pure comfy.
Pretty sure he doesn't actually play video games and never really cared about them, it was always Mike while James is purely movies.
Well said
These are undeniably his best videos
Well said, I couldn't agree more
I subbed for video game content like 13 years ago. Now, I only watch his movie vids. :P When passion comes through it's just that more enjoyable, even if you don't care the subject matter. It's that passion that comes through and sorta makes you passionate as well. So many people I'm subbed to that I know little or nothing of their content, but they just love the material so much that it rubs off on me. ;)
RIP Leslie Nielsen, a true childhood favorite
He died like 11 years ago......
@@t2av159 So?
F for him, a true legend he was.
Tl2aV W You can still say RIP even if the person didn’t die recently y’know
I wonder what it would have been like if Leslie played the principal from Breakfast Club.
A mate of mine once told me a story which could have been something out of Spinal Tap:
Their friend was in this band where they did a gimmick which involved them wearing Viking Helmets (the ones with the horns), and coming out of coffins at the beginning of the gig. They do this, and during the gig, there's this frantic knocking with one of the band members shouting "Dave! Me horn's stuck in the coffin!"
it's a mad mad mad mad world still brings me to tears to this day-- especially those scenes with Sylvester
Shawn of the Dead has to be up there with the greats for me.
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist is also a guilty pleasure, dumb but absolutely hilarious
I have to go with Spaceballs. Not enogh can be said about how funny it is. Scene after scene of gags and laughs.
UHF is always gonna be a classic to me.
Conan the librarian
WHEEL OF FISH!!!! 😆
Spatula City!
SUPPLIES!!
Christ. I haven't seen this movie in probably 20 years
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls will always be my top comedy!
Haha that movie is a classic
But still funny
Thanks. Same here.
I totally agree!!
I saw it in the theater when i was a teen. I laughed so hard during the rhino scene, i had to get out of my seat and walk up and down the isle because i thought i was gonna pull an abdominal muscle.
"Surely you can't be serious..."
"I am. And don't call me Shirley....."
airplane (1980)
"We have clearance, clarance."
"Roger, roger. What's are vector, victor?"
Lol
I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.
Ok shirly
"Dolomite Is My Name" was probably the funniest recent movies I've seen in a long time and probably the funniest Eddie Murphy comedies of all time. That sequence when they were filming Dolomite, I laughed so hard that I got abs.
I feel like it didnt get enough recognition, I loved it, and it even left you with a positive message.
Dolemite is fantastic! I think James would love it because it's also an incredible movie about making movies
I come for the Nerd, I stay for James talking about his favorite movies.
The Blues Brothers is definitely one of my favorites, a real great time!
*Luigi agrees*
Don't you blaspheme! Don't you blaspheme in here!
A rite of passage in my family. My cousin absolutely broke into laughter when Elwood and Jake are in the snooty restaurant & Belushi’s improv just slays with the laughs
One of my favorites as well
Mine too love Blues Brothers.
The Austin Power series always make me laugh.
"you are semi evil, you are the margarine of evil, you are the diet coke of evil"
Why make billions when we can make millions?
@@Sgt-Wolf "Only one calorie, not evil enough"
"What I want is SHARKS with FRICKIN' LASER BEAMS attached to their HEADS"
“You just don’t get it do ya Scott”
Same. Dr Evil is just so delightful haha
Dr. Strangelove is comedic gold.
"Gentlemen you cant fight in here, this is a war room!"
Animals must be breed and slaauughhhhhtttterrred!
Meeeein Fuhrer...i can walk
The pink panther strikes again is a comedy masterpiece in my opinion. Peter Sellers timing and delivery are perfect, and the supporting roles fit seamlessly.
One of my top comedies is Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil
BTW, Castlevania: SoTN, easily one of my top 10 games of all time.
Haha Such an awesome movie! And thanks for reminding me, think I´ll watch that tonight.
@@bra1nc417d it is in my top 10 games too!
@@Schattiz You bet man!
Didn't they make a sequel yet?
I'm so surprised the Movie Airheads wasn't on here seeing as how many music movies there were. One of my favorites for sure.
Lone rangers...lol
Got that on dvd. Excellent movie! Now that i think about it i may watch that tonight. 🤔
Love that movie
Lol
Hot Fuzz is one of my favorite comedies. The jokes almost always come in twos, and there are tons of things to catch the second time around that were easily missed the first time.
Definitely
Very spot on.
Probably my favourite comedy along with The Big Lebowski and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Everyone and their mums is packin round ere.
Oh yeh, like who?
Farmers
Who else?
Farmers' mums
Didn’t like it, but I loved Shaun of the Dead
Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil, See No Evil Hear No Evil
Joan Severance was HOT in that movie.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is always at the top of my list for comedies, followed closely by Grandma's Boy. My buddies and I still quote them all the time
Anyone else love the movie "Top Secret!" ? It's one of my favorite comedies.
The hot shots movies were also hilarious.
Is this the potato farm? Yes, I'm Albert Potato :D
I know a little German, he's sitting over there.
Weird Al Yankovic mentioned it's his favorite movie. It's just a masterpiece of comedy.
Almost 40 years later, I'm seeing new gags and jokes! Masterpiece ❤️
Shaun of the Dead has to be at the top of my list.
Yarp. (Yes, I know that's from Hot Fuzz). But Edgar Wright anything is always on top of my list.
shaun of the dead is genius, i was fortunate to see it in the cinema with no expectation at all ;-)
Were coming to get you Barbra!
All three of the cornetto movies are masterpieces
I wish I knew James personally, because I feel like we would be great friends. Thats what’s so great about his videos. We all feel like we know him.
For me some of the best laughs I have ever had came from Blazing Saddles, Airplane, The Blues Brothers, Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
One great comedy worth talking about is "The Emperor's New Groove." It's a delightful buddy comedy that remains timeless even after 20 years. The dialogue is quotable, the animation is quick and snappy, and it's allowed to brush off some out there elements ("Well, you got me. By all accounts, it doesn't make sense"). The character dynamics are also spot-on. I especially love the villains Yzma and Kronk who bounce off of each other marvelously.
Nooo touchy!
You brought up Mel Brooks but didn’t even reference Blazing Saddles?!
Or Dracula: Dead and Loving It. XD
@@MjLmoonwalker YES!
History of the World as well lol
Young Frankenstein!
Tenacious D is criminally underrated. I still blast some of the soundtrack from time to time.
I love it! It is absolutely one of my favorite movies!
I AM COMPLEEEETE!!!!
"Did you ever find Bugs Bunny attractive when he put on a dress and played a girl bunny?"
No he is buck toothed
No, but Lola was fair game.
Lola Bunny 😃👍.
My favourite part of the movie!
- JAMES 2021 - is missing there lol
Spaceballs has to be my favourite when it comes to comedy. I still laugh out loud to this day at their skits. Dark Helmet playing with his dolls and going to ludicrous speed cracks me up.
Ah, buckle this: LUDICROUS SPEED - GO!!!!!!!!
I see your Schwartz is as big as mine!!!
We've gone into plaid!

@@LaborHours Smoke em if ya got em
Robin Hood: Men in Tights made me laugh like no other movie before or sense.
It's by Mel Brooks and you know how it's going. 🧡
I didn’t know Pick Of Destiny would be on here! Makes me happy when people know Tenacious D
It says Tenac, I looked it up in the dictionary...it wasn't in there
Hot Shot movies seem always over looked. They are way underrated.
Top Secret as well. :)
True; always loved cem both.
@@DevilBoy-ww9ud absolutely! :D
Loaded weapon 1 is my favorite spoof movie. Also underrated
Alot of people don't know this but Ryan Stiles was in Hot Shots then on Two and a half men. I bet Charlie Sheen doesn't even know that.
It has to be Hot Fuzz for me. The cast, dialog, the pacing,... It's pure class and virtually perfect..... Well I think it is anyway.
Im sorry, but if you wholeheartedly feel that hot fuzz is the best comedy ever made, i weep for you.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are great movies together! Even Paul!
@@andrewhunter9119 Why? It's an absolutely incredible comedy movie. The writing, the acting, the jokes, the visual comedy, the cast, the directing, etc. Not only is it an amazing comedy, but it's just an all around really well made film. No need to weep for anyone.
@@andrewhunter9119 It is rather gutless to talk down to someone about their favourite movie without saying what is the best comedy movie. You want to act like a hipster snob, you should have the courage of your convictions.
Na, its not only you thinking it. It simply is.
The Toy, all of the Wilder/Pryor films, Zapped, and Revenge of the Nerds come to mind 🤘
Top Secret is my favorite. Gags are never ending. And Mafia. the scene where the boss shoots the kid and he misses and hits a tree and the tree curles up falls down is brilliand. i had to pause the movie and laugh for about 5 min with this dump scene.
Mad respect to James and the crew for keeping Ernest relevant to newer audiences. It seems like they don't get the deserved "mainstream" credit like a lot of others on this list, but they are well worth the effort to go find and watch them...especially since the effort, is like, in your hands right now...
He has a nice spot in my childhood memories
*James mentioning "Superbad"*
"You changed your name to...Mclovin?!?"
The Princess Bride is my all-time favorite comedy and movie.
You forgot OFFICE SPACE and WHAT ABOUT BOB with Bill Murray
Did you not hear what he said at the start? ITS HIS OPINION NOT THE WORLDS!
What About Bob? is my favorite movie of all time.
Both of those are some of my favorite comedies of all time
Tommy boy,Austin powers, dumb and dumber and Wayne’s world are some of my favorites
Kung Pow is a cinematic masterpiece and an achievement to humanity.
To think it's made with old footage, moths and fighting cows. We should revisit old movies in the same style, it could of started a trend.

If you like big trouble in lil china than you NEED to see the early films from stephan chow BEFORE kung fu hustle. Such as his gambler and 🥋movies from the 80s.
Evil Dead 2 / Army of Darkness
Best horror-comedy
In my opinion the best Monty python joke it’s from life of Brian, when they talk about Biggus Dickus

We can’t ignore goodburger. Kal stole the show with his literalist comedy.

It’s actually a lot of fun seeing what everyone else’s favorite comedies are! I can be on here all day. Some of my favorite comedies that I can put on at any time are Super Troopers, Liar Liar, Step Brothers, Mrs. Doubtfire, Tommy Boy, Clue, and Life. Life is a sad movie as well but Eddie and Martin had me cracking up!
Life is so underrated, I love that movie.
@@lincolnhiphop1852 Absolutely! And the cornbread scene will always be my favorite in that movie haha

Same reaction. I think he means he will talk about it on a regular movie review
This may have been recorded before he announced it was ending.
Spaceballs, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, The Blues Brothers, all of them masterful gems of comedy!
I gotta mention: Ace Ventura, Happy Gilmour and Supertroopers!
Those 3 are probably the funniest movies I have ever seen! My face hurts after those LOL!
Alrighty then
Just order a large Farva
Saving Silverman (2001). A movie that gets funnier the more times you watch it.
And the best part, it has ZERO Sarah Silverman.
The Wayne's World movies hold up amazing well even today.
I just watched that about a month ago.. and the part with wayne's ex on the bike still cracks me up, we used to watch that over and over again.. classic
Then watch Austin powers and realize half the jokes are recycled from Wayne's World
They are true classics!

Two of my favorite comedy movies ever are: Kingpin & Grandma's Boy. You did mention alot of my favorites also.
Kingpin is one of those movies I can watch over and over
Any of the Farrelly brothers movies. You couldn’t go wrong.
Yep, I usually consider Kingpin the funniest movie I've ever seen. Grandma's Boy is right up there too! Not Another Teen Movie ranks up there for me.

Nacho Libre totally caught me by surprise, it’s in my all time top 5 now.
I absolutely loved Nacho Libre and still do
I have yet to see Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, but I adore Bogus Journey.
Growing up as a nerd, I hated being compared to Napoleon Dynamite. Didn’t find it funny at all.
Nacho Libre was surprisingly better IMO. Still love the lord’s chips.
Nacho libre. Just because I still quote it to this day
Galaxy Quest had me cracking up, especially Tim Allen.
"You're my son JB. My wittle baby sass."
Tropic Thunder - that’s a go to when there’s need for some much needed laughs!

Kung Pow: Enter The Fist
I really missed this on his list
I am great magician, your clothes are red.

"Let me know if you see a Radio Shack" is now somehow, almost impossibly, even funnier knowing that there are no more Radio Shacks
prefer Kung Fu Hustle over Kung Pow.
My favorite scene in It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World is maybe the fight between Milton Berle and Terry Thomas. The two don't know how to fight, injure themselves and when Milton Berle tries to tackle Terry Thomas he launched himself off the side of the cliff. It's pure gold. I love the dynamic between those two characters.
Funniest film imo is BASEketball, the guys from South Park starring and made by the team behind Airplane, absolute laugh riot.
Not really...I watched it way too many times because we had it on video, it's okay- nice to see the South Park guys, it's got a pretty solid core concept, but a lot of the jokes are just plain bad.
“Pick of Destiny” was my favorite when I was a kid. Still probably one of my favorites.
"For an entire generation, you've played Star Wars Episode 1 Racer the only way possible, on the N64."
