    Awsome, easier than I thought, so much better doing your own maintenance, no more let downs, rips off or substandard work from stealers and so-called specialists.

    Hi, I made this work a couple weeks ago and you can save some time by taking out only the calipers without their holders and make the brake discs to "slide" out (Yes the brake disks can come out with the caliper holders mounted on). Then you can work freely on the bearings.

    Your rear wheel bearing came of really easily.. i've been trying to replace mine for 6 hours. I managed to knock out the old one but the new one just wouldn't fit in place like it should (it's the same bearing). Now it is stuck in place and won't move. Do you happen to have any trick on how to knock the bearing out?? (heat and mallet didn't help)

    • @Horus_Works
      @Horus_Works  10 месяцев назад +1

      Sorry to see that mate - I would have suggested heat. Barring that maybe you can find a claw puller that would work? This sort of thing (you'll have to spend money on it, but you'll have it forever: www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=claw+jaw+puller&_sacat=0&_odkw=claw+puller&_osacat=0

      @@Horus_Works Thank's. Do you think that the puller will ruin the bearing?

  • @johnphaceas7434
    @johnphaceas7434 Год назад +3

    Great video - I assumed you'd only get a replacement bearing, so that you'd have to press out the old bearing from the hub and then press back the new one the old fashioned way. So much simpler to just buy and refit a whole assembly. How much was it from interest?

    • @Horus_Works
      @Horus_Works  Год назад +2

      Yes it was a relatively easy process to swap out the rear hubs. I wouldn't worry about pressing bearings in and out John - just not worth the hassle, considering these are about 60 pound each (UK money) and they will last you for years.

    I had to replace the rear left wheel bearing on my MK1 Focus last week. It finally went from spaceship noise to disc cutter going through a large iron nail noise!

      Thank you mate, rear wheel bearings on a GT are fairly straightforward as it turns out, definitely possible as a DIY at home.

    @omiq7761 Год назад

    Outstandingly on point tutorial. I have to do this on my GT this winter, much appreciated! I recon this applies also to the 3.2 V6 version, as the rear should be the same? Do you have to change the bearings in pairs?

    • @Horus_Works
      @Horus_Works  Год назад

      Thanks very much. I would change them both yeah, just because the other one won't be far behind... but technically speaking, you could wait till it starts making noise...

  • @flycorvus
    @flycorvus Год назад +1

    That's the proper way to make a bearing swap. New hub assembly, no need to use shop press.
    I changed front right bearing on my Mk1 Focus last year. Without a shop press, that was a pain in the @ss..
    Take care! Great videos from down under. :-))

      @@Horus_Works No drama’s mate.
      Got my own little battle going on right now while changing over the front wheel bearings on the 147 twin spark… Dam CV axle spindle is rust bonded into the hub. Currently working the hub out bit by bit with the bolt method
      It’s amazing how the 916 I did the same job three years ago and absolutely no rust bond issues with exactly the same set up as the 147… But then you get another job with exactly the same parts and it takes forever and a day to get them apart
      It’s just the way it goes

    That last part is easier if you have a ditch, just lower the car and then tighten the arm

    Nice, but you made 2 mistakes 1. The plastic retaining ring slides when you push the new bearing on the car, that ring hold the ABS magnetic ring centered. 2. You already have more then 300NM before using the torque wrench, i can hear the clicks from the moment you push the wrench.
