Good work Rick, always worth chapping the circlips in to the recess with a screw driver so they are 100% home too as just placing them in with the pliers wont seat them properly. At 13.47 in the video they don't look to be in the recess enough (unless you did this off camera)
You are absolutely correct, and yes, they did need to be seated better which was done off camera. In fact, I ended up needing to re-use my old circlips.
You know if they aren’t recessed enough anyway because the ABS sensors won’t fit haha

Hi just watched your video. The result looks superb and I am sure I will never achieve that.
However the reason for coming here is I will need to replace a wheel bearing on the left - the sound difference in left/right corners together with the big hum while driving makes that clear...
Can this be done in one day in a DIY garage shop? They have a serious press available.
Previously I changed the front / rear suspension myself, so you reckon this would be doable by me?
And also: any difference in front or rear side? I do not know which bearing has passed away yet.

Hi Rick, admiring your work. Working on a similar refreshment of a 3.0 spider. Question related to POR15, there are some mixed opinion about it, peolple complaining it's coming off, but getting turned down with not following the right application procedure or metal prep. You use the rust inhibitor before POR, apparently - that's not adviced, any previous experience that this works just fine?

J D Thank You. Yes, they say POR15 is only as good as the person using it. I have used this paint in a few different ways and so far I have never had a problem using rust inhibitor/primer. It finishes rock hard and has withstood rigorous scratch tests. Not a scratch and no loss of paint. No cracking or peeling on items I’ve painted in the past either. I would highly recommend using the Top Coat enamel for added protection on areas that are exposed to sunlight though.
I have also just used POR15 in areas underneath my floor pan and I chose to use the metal prep first before applying 4 coats of paint. It works fine but it is nasty stuff though if you get it on your skin. Easily done if you’re working underneath your car. It’s also expensive. I just don’t think it’s absolute necessary for every application.
My opinion is that nothing is permanent underneath a car. Everything only lasts for so long, but so far it’s lasted nearly 4 years on my daily driver and still looks good.

Question: when you pressed the hub, did you have something to the back of the bearing in order not to put pressure on it?

yes. Although you can’t see in the video there is a steel disk underneath the cloth to support it 👍🏼

Hi Rick. Have you been happy with the performance of POR 15 on the hub uprights? I noticed that you applied it over a none POR15 base coat.
I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews about POR15, but I’m still considering using it on the chassis of my Nissan Pathfinder. Any thoughts or advice?
