    Very jealous of how yours is looking underneath! I've just had the wizard quad fitted on mine which looks nice and shiny, but certainly got some corrosion underneath, especially at the front. Also a project for me, great to have, certainly keeping me sane. Enjoying the videos, keep it up!

    I had a black GTV V6 same as yours for 8 years. Feel free if you want to ask me any questions. In terms of the paint if there is no paint code Im guessing its been resprayed ? but just a wild guess. Also your seats are in brilliant condition with no signs of wear. Whats the mileage on the car ? Also It may look as though the seats were repaired or replaced with newer seats but dpeends on what the mileage is ? In terms of top mounts yes they hardly wear out. But up to you if you want to replace them. You have polybushes which is not really recomended for the V6. I had both poly and OEM bushes on my car and it really is better with OEM. The OEM allows for the passive rear wheel steering to work properly. The poly bushes just cancels this out and gives the car a hard uncomfortable skittish ride. I also had the Yellow Konis and I will say they were a Pain in the A##. I really wanted the Bilsteins but there not made for the V6 anymore. It is really better to get even second hand or refurbished Bilsteins if you can find them. With the Konis I was constantly adjusting them trying to find the right setup and balance close to the original balance and I could not balance it properly. Also the Konis at the front leaked oil. The Konis at the back constantly squeaked just outside their warranty period. I will never get Konis again. Anyway good luck with the car. I really miss mine especially the beautiful V6 Engine theres no other car like the V6 !

      Alfa Won thanks for the comment. Well where do I start haha!
      Firstly, the car has done 70,000 miles. The seats and interior are original to my knowledge. The car has never been fully resprayed but it has had bits painted without a doubt. It’s expected with a 20 year old car. With regards to the Powerflex bushes, there was a couple of factors taken into account when I chose them. Mainly cost. To replace with genuine arms and bushes costs just over £1000 which is a lot of money for something that will wear out again in a few years. They are notoriously very weak. The Powerflex will far exceeds the life of genuine bushes. Secondly, I know I will never be pushing the car hard enough for Powerflex to be an issue. As my bushes where in such bad condition the car handled terribly, so that said, to me the car should handle beautifully with the Powerflex. I’ll see how I get on with them anyway. The topic on shock absorbers, you are correct. The downside to Koni Sport is indeed a harsher ride on a car that was already harsh enough to start with but I’m prepared for that. I shall be fitting them and bedding them in on the softest setting for a few hundred miles before I touch them again. I chose the Koni’s simply because they are still the best road going shock absorber available for these cars at the moment. The only options are genuine shocks, Koni Street or Koni Sport. That’s it. Bilstein would have been my preferred brand however, as you already mentioned, they are no longer available and I would never fit used suspension or brake components on my car personally. Thanks for the info anyway. We shall see how I get on with it in the future. Happy motoring 👍🏼

      @@_RicksGarage I would say the seats would have been replaced or repaired. Cars with seats that have done 70K Miles or Kms are ragged and finished ! Lol. So almost 100% sure they were repaired or replaced just recently.
      In terms of the OEM vs Poly bushes I bought the OEM Bushes from EB Spares. They just sold the Bushes themselves very cheaply something like $30 for one and $60 for a pair. I have heard you have to buy the whole arm also. But check EB spares they may (or may not) have them anymore. But anyway youve already installed the poly bushes. You may deciede later on to see what the car should have been later on on OEM thats up to you. With the Konis watch out for oil leaks on the fronts and constant (and very annoying) squeaking of the rears. When you get them set up I can let you know what settings I used for the best solution between sport / comfort.
      I do miss the car. Ive driven Porsche 911s (997.2) , Boxsters and the Alfa 4C. And I would say the GTV V6 is very compable to them. The V6 Busso is the star and really outshines all those cars I mentioned. TBH the Alfa 4C is terrible with the 4Turbo. It really needs a V6 Busso. : )

    They must have had another parts price increase, I remember they had one around 2013 a dealer even told me.
    Just lately I've noticed that the price of a camshaft variator ( common weak spot ) for the twinspark engine has shot right up from around £130 a year ago to £250 now. They were around £100 in 2012. I've looked and there are no alternatives you have to pay full price if you don't want your twinspark down on power and rattling like a diesel.

    • @JamesTaylor-ll6ui
      @JamesTaylor-ll6ui 4 года назад +1

      Only in Lowton! If you’re still after some downpipes, have a word with Gus at Alfatune on Merton Bank Road, he used to make equal length ones for the 3.0, not sure if he still does. They won’t be cheap but very good quality.

    • @_RicksGarage
      @_RicksGarage  4 года назад +1

      James Taylor I live literally around the corner from Gus. I’ve had a couple of chats with him and he’s a very knowledgeable and genuinely nice guy. A little away with the fairies on prices though!
      With regards to his exhaust systems, he designed the system, including the equal length pipes, but actually had an exhaust specialist manufacture them for him. That specialist, believe it or not, is Cybox who still make and sell the system today. So these Cybox systems are actually Alfatune. Both cat back AND equal length downpipes. Unfortunately I won’t be buying the equal length pipes because I don’t like the lack of clearance underneath. Instead I’ll be buying the wizard downpipes. They are more expensive but the flow design is superb and any clearance issues eliminated. They also make them for fitting CF2 manifolds to CF3 cats so it’s a straight bolt on upgrade.
