Had two twin sparks a phase 1 and a phase 2 and loved both of them but the V6 is a very different animal it’s that engine sound coupled with the right exhaust that makes it what it is and will always be the ultimate incarnation of the model 👌
A wonderful journey Rick. I’ve got a 2 litre TS and the handling is great but after seeing what you’ve done to your GTV I think it’s time I upgraded a few bits. You’ve got a beautiful beast there. Cheers.
Wow that must have taken some time to compile and edit ! Great montage It’s a credit to you, all that hard work and commitment has really paid off, it’s looking fab x
I’m going to have to go through this whole channel. I have a 916 in pretty rough shape that I need to bring back to life. Nice work man! That GTV looks absolutely fantastic, huge inspiration for me.
I can´t really convert to words how much I admire the work you have done on this Alfa. I am also jealous that we share a very similar lifestyle but your dedication to your passion overcomes my imagination. There are numerous nights that I go sad to bed by thinking how little time I bring in my life with my Alfa. I have the same 3.0 916 in black, as you have, but nothing in my car is in such a good condition as yours. Keeping in mind how old our cars are, I rarely find another car on the road that sound better than those Alfas. Even the handling, for a Sunday drive through the countryside, is good and quite enjoyable. I loved your car and the job you have done on it. I wish you the very best. Greetings from Albania.
Great work Rick! Keep up the fantastic videos. As a V6 GTV owner of 10 years now your assessment of the car is spot on accurate. Some mods I'd love you to add and assess would be Strut bar, and Alfaholics sway bay handling pack. Another popular mod is the short shift adapter. A cheap mod, but I went back to original as I didn't find it precise enough. Also recommend BMC CDA intake, it adds a significant depth to the growl of the engine sound. Keep up the great work!
Hi Rick, I am the proud owner of an Afa Romeo Spider 3.0V6 12v 1998 in blu atollo metallizato colour, here in Venezuela. I really enjoy every video , My car actually is running with just 60K miles on it. Here we have the problem to find spares for that car, you did a fantastic job on your wonderful car and for me has been a pleasure to follow you in this trip. Congratulations from Caracas-Venezuela. My best regards to you and your family.... Excuse for my english, i am doing my best, I speak Italian and Spanish.
The first video of yours I have watched and I loved it. Seriously considering one of the lovely Italian classics and I think you might have persuaded me to go for it. I have subscribed and look forward to watching more. Keep up the great work
Welcome brother! 😂 I’ve had my phase 2 TS for nearly two years now, and after much work took her out for a spirited drive in the spring sunshine (UK). Had so much fun! The punchy, revvy engine is a pleasure to press. How are you finding your V6??
@@benjamindavies4025 I love the V6, it’s a pure joy. It is front heavy and being front wheel drive you really feel that. Next project is to upgrade the suspension and tyres for better handling.
Great video again Rick! Your enthusiasm for all things car related really does come across ... Keep the videos coming! 👍🏻 The amount of work gone into your GTV is incredible... must be one of the best examples out there! 😊
just came across ur channel, great video mate, love how ur gtv looks, got that car in great condition. mines been off road for nearly 10 years, since my wife was pregnant lol, I am on my way to getting it at least road worthy by this year if I can
I really want to buy one but I am located in Canada and sourcing parts really is something that holds me off. Absolutely beautiful cars and unique. a True gem, timeless design.
What a superb job. That's the luckiest GTV in the world! Makes my poor old 916 V6 look like an old banger. Currently labouring on with no air-con as I can't get a new condenser anywhere (that doesn't cost 400 quid). Brake compensator also impossible to get. Had to take the old one apart and clean it up to get it through the MOT. But touch wood, the Busso still sings like a song bird and the car is, as you say, plenty quick enough between 4-7000 revs to make you smile. Good luck and happy motoring to you, sir!
I own both a V6 GTV and a TS Spider and even with the roof chopped off, the TS does feel a little more chuckable around bends. The difference is around 50kgs up front but with the pendulous effect of that extra weight in a bend, it is quite noticeable. Great review, pretty much agree with everything you say, even down to the having a sports car in the garage as a life goal.
Awesome video Rick!! It's only with a Alfa romeo that you will build this relationship and bond with.. This beautiful GTv is part of your family now. I can feel your love for this car in the video.. Gave me new inspiration to carry on with my alfa... At some point when it all comes together it's worth it.. Amazing car amazing video.. Passion passion passion.. Thanks Rick!
That is a great car and reflects on the owner, brilliant. I am seriously considering doing the same here is Australia (ex uk, now pom). Only issue, is the cost of parts especially delivery here to Oz. Good news is, we don't get the rust from salty roads. That is a credit to you, well done and you deserve it.
Thanks Rick for transmitting good sensation through this video and also for showing your skill in restoring the GTV. I just bought a V6 3.0 24V but I'm not as skilled as you so I need a mechanic for restoring and manteinance and to help me to make my dream true
Been a pleasure to watch your videos about this lovely Alfa. Thanks for all the filming efforts and congratulations on a lovely car ... You need to treat yourself to one last thing. Get that plenum and front bank dust cover painted Alfa Rosso red to match your calipers. It will be a treat every time you pop the bonnet and will make the car feel even more special to you than it already does. Trust me it's well worth it 👍
Your an so cool man Rick! It was a pleasure to watch your videos. You have done very good and professionel job. Your GTV is now perfect. Drive save and I wish you good luck and always a smile face with your car. I have learn a lot. Thank you for sharing and your efforts.
I noticed your fire extinguisher. I have a "fire safety stick" for two reasons. It fits in the glove box and it does not leave any corrosive or damaging residue behind like normal extinguishers.
Just stumbled across your content. I love GTV's having nearly bought one 3 times! Yours is quite simply stunning. It looks better than new! I dread to think how many late nights you've had to invest to get it into this condition, but my goodness they were worth it. That is one special car. Kudos to you. :)
I've just come across your channel.. owning a Brera and yearning for the Busso I'm on the lookout for a V6 GTV.. and I have to say yours is a beautiful example.. Apologies if you've covered this in other videos, but how is the view/seating position.. I've read many reviews saying if you're a taller driver you'll struggle.. being 6"3 I'm hoping this won't rule the GTV out.
Beautiful car. Top work on the resto. Not a fan of the spoilers on these but it’s a personal thing. Alfa reputation for being unreliable isn’t really deserved. Having owned two I can say a properly maintained Alfa is a reliable Alfa unless you’re just very unlucky to get a lemon and even that should be salvageable. I’m so tempted to buy a 916 fixer upper! Cheers for the inspiration
Very informative video. You have done great of work with your GTV. I have 2.0TB, one video so far from that. You're right about parts.. I had to make a speedometer sensor myself combining same looking Fiat sensor with GTV rotator and glue it back together. That was extent I was not happy about even though it works fine.
@@_RicksGarage You really should put a torsen. My stock diff exploded on an acceleration at 140 000kms on m6 3.0 V6 24V. Luckily, it didn't damage the gearbox... It's a well known problem on Fwd busso's...
Hi Rick, The channel is fantastic, I´m finding it the best available resource for working on my GTV, Iḿ based in Austria, despite only being across the border from Italy, parts supply in the UK is better. Currently swopping the clutch on mine, canˋt believe how much stuff one needs to remove to do this! Can you tell me where you got all the torque settings for re-assembly? Cheers Richard
Amazing car and amazing video! I'm planning on buying one, but having kids the question of rear seats usability really is bugging me, I can't get a 2 seater... You seem to be one of the few showing actual passengers in the rear seats! Could you please share additional details? How short does anyone sitting in the front be to leave some room for rear passengers? In that case, how tall can they be?
hi, I saw your video regarding the restoration of your Alfa romeo gtv. You have been fantastic in making it and for this I ask you how much is the cost to do it. I too have a 2001 3.0 v6 24v and being Italian I am in love with this car......thank you

Hi, I have an issue with my GTv here in nigeria, it has movement issues, I’ve change the coils, fuel pump and filter, plugs and also checked the fuel lines but it’s jerks while in gear and doesn’t go up to 20. please I need help on what to do.
Just listening to you talk about the parts prices and looking outside at my GTV thinking the 10 grand I jokingly budgeted to renew it might not actually be that far off 🙃
Comparing V6 and Twin Spark, I have to say that they are not very different in terms of front end load and understeering. Yes, the front end of the TS feels a little bit lighter and understeering in low speed curves is less, but not much. V6 is aluminium and TS is cast iron. At the end, the V6 sounds much better and, especially as Spider version, is nearly sold out to fans. You will hardly find a good one on the market.
