I changed my rear bearings a few months ago and i can hear the front ones slightly. i plannend on doing them coming spring. so your video comes just in time. Better than the autodoc video.
Finally a video that shows what to do when not everything goes as planned! I'd be very interested in seeing how you cope with totally stuck brak pad retaining pins as one on my 159 is damningly stuck.
When the wheelbearing is stuck and you don’t want to remove the whole hub, just unscrew the wheel bearing bolts to half way and just hammer the heads of the bolt.
Neil I suspect you prefer SKF bearings? That's what my mechanic uses, not cheap Chinese-made ones - had to replace a Chinese fitted one on my 146 TS by my former mechanic, within a year of installation!
Thanks for the video, I’ve got a pair of front bearings to do on my 2.4 but as I’m going to be doing them on the road outside the house I’m going to wait for slightly better weather!
Just did one on my GT this weekend. Had a pig getting the bearing housing out and ultimately broke the abs sensor but all in all a successful job . Won’t rush to do the other just yet in this weather 😂
Thanks for the helpful video. Love the brummie accent as well. I was just clicking play and was like, “That must be around Birmingham somewhere”. Googled the name of the firm and there you go. ❤
I’m quite an experienced hobby mechanic but was glad to be able to follow your lead today, while replacing the front wheel bearing on my 159. Luckily, I didn’t have to take the whole front hub off, a few strokes with a small sledge hammer, then a crow bar and off the bearing came. Third one replaced, only one to go, so I wouldn’t be the least surprised if it’s the one on the front right side that’s causing all the noise. Just my luck… 😬
Yesterday I changed the front bearings on my 159, removed the brakes and the axle nut, I did not remove any of the ball joints. To unscrew the bearing bolts in this case you need a spanner. what bearings are you installing? Previously installed SKF, passed 13,000 km and that’s it
Evening. Harry’s Garage had an i5 series on test. 5 series EV version. 96k plus 17k options. 115k. He hated on it. Mostly range. But fit finish. Dead handling. Everything. It dawned on me back 2005 the Alfa 155/Brera front end is prettier than a 2023/4 BMW design. What’s going on in this world.
Hi have you done a video on Giulietta QV rear wheel bearing and suspension bushes, it looks like some of the bushes aren't available without the whole arm, powerflex do a kit, are they a good option?
That impersonation of the bungee cord deniers was on point neil 😁
Haha

I love how everything comes apart so easily on the auto doc videos 😂
That's why my videos are better. True idea of what's involved.
More 159 videos Neil, love every single second of it.
The more people watch the more I will make.

Happend lots. Grind heat and swear.
Your videos are very helpful. Do keep them coming.
Thanks
Great video Neil, you make it look so easy.
Another great and simply explained video. Those polite taps were certainly needed
Thanks for the comment

Don't think that would of worked as it still took some hammering to get it out. Access is rather tight under there.

great vid mate! any 939 content always appreciated.

Yeah with out a press they can be a pain. Even with one too.
Always brilliant videos, Neil. Greetings from Switzerland.
Hi thanks for watching

Glad you enjoyed it!
@@ItaliaAutos Immensely. Mostly the changing bearing-bit, though you seem like a nice enough chap as well! 😉

Thanks, Neil! I have a whining noise on my Brera and think it's a bearing. This is really helpful..!!
Good stuff
Nice clear vid Neil. Thanks for that
Cheers

is there a video on how to change the front wheel bearing on alfa giulietta.

EliSergi Garage
Great video Neil.
Many thanks!
How can you tell which hub bearing is gone from the four wheels
Had those alloys on my 159, nightmare to clean.
Yeah not fun
Great video as usual Neil. 😎
Thanks
could you do a tutorial for the threshold replacement in alfa romeo gt?
Hi! Cant seem to find a tutorial for 159 Ti side skirts removal, any tips? Need to get the rust off and wrap it matte white :D
Buy new clips to reinstall
@@ItaliaAutosThink I might get S/S bolt.
Bish, bash, bosh - job done.
Takes me back to the days when mechanics were not just fitters.
Thanks again Neil!

Electric cars have their place. But as city cars not big motorway mile munchers.
@@ItaliaAutos spot on.
Hi Niel,
Fortunately my 156 never had issues with bearings in 280.000 km‘s. Do you know if the 159 are more sensible for bearing issues?
Yes more common on 159s

Just fit power flex. Not an easy job
@@ItaliaAutos Thanks
Good tips, thanks Neil.
Not too bad a job by the look of it. Like all bearings the amount of rust detirmines the ease of doing the job.
Great as always!
Thanks again!
nice and easy no press
It sure is!
Good job
Thanks
Great video 😊
Blu aurora colour?
Was wondering what colour Brera that was.
please torques?
Very different set up from the 145 I think.
Very much so
comment comment comment...thanks too!!!
Good tx
Enjoy
Good stuff
I would hit the nut not the driveshaft….i don’t want to damage the thread
Didn't hit it hard just wanted to push it out.
It's a easy job, don't need him.
Maybe easy for a lot of people , especially if you have done one before, but some visual guidance is a great help for a lot of us
Auf Deutsch sagt man "Keine Ahnung"
