The cost of fixing that and driving a car with character is nothing compared to buying a new sh it box with zero wow factor.

Had a 2010 2.0 diesel ti sportwagon for 4 and a half years and I loved it. Had to reluctantly let it go in the end for something cheaper to run and maintain.

Great again Neil. In my experience it is usually the rust (due to lack of preventative maintenance) that leads to the early scrapping of too many vehicles! Happy New Dewalt Impact gun!

I've owned a 159, sold it and drove all kinds of other cars, now looking to go back into a 159. Looking for a tbi sortswagon, failing that a 3.2. Italia Auto's helped me so much with my previous cars. Neil is an absolute legend. I will follow this one closely.

I think cars in damp, cold and salty road conditions should undergo thorough under carriage cleaning every other spring. Remove the wheel well covers and give it a good hot water pressure wash and then a light coating of whatever kind of wax.

love your honest simplicity of attitude in working with these alfas, refreshing in todays glam tube . you could easily hit the high numbers with a bit longer time length and a tiny amount of detail. love it anyways

Great to see a 159 getting some love, they are great cars, love my 1750 Tbi, fortunately frames and suspension arms are all good, had to get the gearbox re-built though.

Again surprised by the major rust caused by British road salting. Similar like in Austria. I did not see this so worst in Germany. 🤔

That radiator seems very tired...I had a 2004 156 (after I sold a 2001 156) and although I loved driving it I was disappointed with the general quality of the car. All the minor brackets, bolts etc started rusting, compared it with my wife's 2004 SLK which was mint. Considered buying a 159 but the 2.4JTD although it "gained" some power had to cope with the increased weight of the car. Decided to buy a 6 inline 3l diesel and never looked back. Looking at the amount of rust on the subframe and suspension...my former 2005 E91 had 300K km's when I sold it but never had this amount of corrosion.

They vary😂.Coukd be one of 3. If it's the more sturdy 2.4 version it's stamped on the top. If you look down through the engine you should be able to see it stamped in the casing.

How come that in England cars this “young” starts to develop so much rust? In Italy apart from mechanical issues due to poor maintenance and suspension failing due to bad road conditions, cars keep a pristine metal condition without any rust!
