thanks Neil at Italia Autos. - Авто/Мото
Love the "Sat down with a cup of tea to think about why the alternator didn't work, oh yeah, I didn't give it a belt"
100% relatable 😂
Loved the concept of viewing the whole process in one watch.
Good stuff. As it took so long I sure lost of new subs missed it.
@@ItaliaAutos there was a few in there I'd not seen buddy, cheers.
Neil: “Twelve months have passed and …………………. my thumb is still sticking through my glove!” 🤣 Great series, love these, well done. I’m inexperienced and would be slightly concerned where the lump of metal came from.
😁
This is how you do it, been there atleast 10 times, done it... And yeah that bloody 24mm up there .... thanks for filming it! a lot of people acutally dont know how much work it is.
Great programme, very interesting and helpful. Will definitely stay tuned in 😊
Been watching for a few weeks now. Great content and just subbed.
Welcome to the channel. 👍😀
Great video as always! 👍
Really miss my 147! ❤️

Good stuff. Thanks for watching
Brilliant video Neil - well done
Glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic series, big thanks from an alfa-freak in Sweden!
Glad you enjoy it!
Glad I find a channel full of Alfa! I just got myself a 2017 Giulia Ti Q4 and I was trouble there not that many technical video about 2.0L turbo Giulia. Hopefully you will add more content about Giulia 2.0 😄
I mainly look after the near classics but you will start to see them coming in for services etc soon.
Awesome work
Fantastic work and end result, what a gorgeous car
Glad you like it
Great job Neil.
Cheers. Thanks for watching
Hi. That video saved my sanity tonight. It got me out of both episodes of Emmerdale & Coronation St... Sweet 🤣🤣.
Seriously. Totally enjoyed the content and I hope in brings you a decent profit. I am sure the new owner
will appreciate their Buy. Well Done again 👏👏👍
Glad to be of help. 👍😀
Excellent presentation you have done ✅ a top
Quality job it’s probably with top dollar .😎👍
Nice. Thanks for watching.
Wow m8, what an incredible job. That little piece of metal shard. 14 months in 58 minutes. Great videos. Hats off to you. Hope you got all the pounds for it, car is a beauty. Definitely subscribeing.
Cheers. Yeah I did OK out of selling it. New owner is well happy with it.
@@ItaliaAutos inspired me to go get my little snapper mower going for before mowing season hits. 🤣
Amazing, I wish I could do that!
Love the 147 Gta, a stunning machine.
Its a lot of work, nice job.
Sounds much better
sure is.
Wow, what a nightmare to work on! Must be true love.
I'd kill for that engine sooo cool
I would want top dollar, what a great job!
thanks
Sounds like rod knock to me. If it wasn’t timed right it would run worse than it does. Can’t wait to fine out if I’m right. Love the content!
All becomes clear later on. Thanks for watching

I think someone dropped a washer or something in when they did the timing belt. If nothings is missing from the engine components. Shame about the excessive liquid gasket use too. Good thing they have a large oil pick up. Usually on VW’s the sump is the first thing I check when someone is asking about a rattle after a big repair like a chain. Small oil pick up, and enough liquid gasket for sealing the sump from an ocean liner usually means a rattle and low oil pressure in the cilinder head.
Legend 👏👍
Lovely car. Loads of work getting it running again.
Did you ever find out where that small lump of metal came from?
Nah wont be another lockdown, partial maybe but not full.your at 24 000 subs now!Funny addition these italian cars have accesible obd port and fuse inside the cabin right side of steering, whereas BMW dont have that as easy.
The punto turbo on the background. Would love to see some content on that one again!
Ita coming I'm just trying to work my way through my other projects first.
That piece looks like either
(i) a piece of valve guide that broke off previously and got mashed up and was left in during a rebuild (happened to me) - they protrude quite far out of the casting; or
(ii) a piece of valve seat broken off and left there from a previous rebuild.
Doesn't look like a bashed up valve lock or keeper. It could even be a broken of piece of spark plug outer - if someone had to helicoil a plug.
i think it was a part of a locating ring for one of the camshaft carriers.
wow thats some work
Sure was. Thanks for watching.
Trying to do a GTA engine rebuild at the moment but some parts are now impossible to get due to Corona, mostly bottom end parts like crack bearings and also piston rings. Some rubbish stuff available but nothing good. Very frustrating lol, good luck with yours!
One of the reasons it took a year to rebuild it. 👍😔 Good luck
Great content as always, but is that GTV cup @53.28 another project you planning to showcase🤔👀. Always loved the GTv especially the cup and IMO the 3.0l gives the best exhaust note.
It's the cup from another video that's back in for the headmaster to be done.
legend
Yesssss👍👍👍👍
keep it!
Hi Neil, can I ask how you done the rear bank Lambda sensor without removing the engine? I haven't seen any footage of this process? Thanks
Love watching these again now its time for my own. Do you know why later cars have 1 breather hose on each head? Two of them as to just on one of them on early 24V (164 cars)
it imagine is was just to get better flow of vapors
I like the video. My suggestion would be to tidy up your workshop and keep parts stored in a clean environment. Building engines in that kind of environment is not great.
Amazing job just one small isuse the wheels silver looks odd alfa romeo did that ones to some giuliettas and i would not get it as the color was not right silver its strange so oppted dark better lol i dont know what silver used but not right like a under cote lol but cars wow shinny like new 👍😉 fab video.
thanks for watching.
55:34 are we really going to ignore this😂 . That previous owner must have been some weeb.
Excellent video. Is there a date or mileage when an engine rebuild is recommended or might be necessary? What would be the approximate cost of doing that, in parts and labor? thanks and keep up the videos :)
Mate for real u want it’s Alfa 147gta from Caribbean
👍
U have great channel and great customer seervic, make regards to bookin in work, let me help Unami send u this 147gta with manual
Thanks.
Great - Busso 3.2 litre in a small car😊
Hey Neil, I removed my engine to get the GTA flywheel and clutch, waterpump, some coolant system sealing rings, Thermostat, cleaning up oil mess from leaks, starter and alternator. Do you recommend to change the Hydraulic valve lifters alwell? And apart from that any other things I should check before I forget? It's a 2.5 from 2000 166 with 315.000km. engine looks clean under the valve cover and oil is nice and clear.
if there not worn. keep them.
Hi Neil just wanna ask, im currently looking at 159s I want a red one but can only find one salon where I am and its with the 1.8 MPI Opel engine in it. What your take on those engines? Cant find anything about them online apart for being slow thanks! :)
This is better.
Im your biggest fans from malaysia, i wish i got some money to buy gta engine 😢
Thanks for the support
Sir can i know do 3.2 busso got salespeed transmission?
What is the area of the weak point on the 3.2 Busso. Thanks. I’ve seen in my paperwork a £5600 bill for a refurb. It then had an engine 1000 miles later.
Weak point is mainly bad owners who don't serve them correctly. Main weak point is too much heat.
Is that a 166 I see in the background 🥰
yes.
Hi, i was planning to buy another 156. Had a jts years ago. I was a facelift but i prefer the prelift...is there any major issues with the early jts in these models as i prefer the interior upgrade over the twinsparks?
They're probably a bit rare in the UK with their love of diesels and all, but FWIW mine has been great, it's a 2005 selespeed and from 100,00km to 140 has had no issues bar a coil pack and variator replacement. Does use a bit of oil, and occasionally a lambda sensor sooks a bit (probably the injectors getting a bit old) but otherwise has been rock solid. I've read some early JTS wore out camlobes but there's nothing concrete I've seen, most likely just poor oil change discipline.
If you can't find an early JTS with the S1 front just get a nice facelift version and bolt a series 1 front on.
@@pseudonym4957 thank for your info, I actually managed to find one and pick it up on Wednesday 👍
Great series! How would you rate that auto gearbox among the other alfa autos?
I was unsure until I set this one up and there easy to work on and it's a really great drive. I'm sold on them now.
@@ItaliaAutos glad you're into the Selespeeds Neal, highly underrated in my opinion, it would have been great to see some content of you setting up and using the software etc...but I'm sure there will be others coming your way!?
Why does the gearbox accept an 'automatic gearbox oil' if it is an automated manual (electro-hydraulic manual or robotized) and not an automatic?
CS Speed is what is used
Tis the Busso ????
How much did you pay for just the car before the rebuild?
The 3,4 v6 is a beast!
Hi Neil, do you know the right sizes of the 4 x O-Rings on the thermostat? I think they are all different...
20 23 26 and 35mm o-rings
Can i come and be your apprentice ???
Will driving with a misfire for a 5 mile drive to garage damage my engine
I have no idea, I have no clue as to what’s wrong. Maybe call the garage your taking it to,
I wouldnt risk it
Needs a new coil pack
Sounds to me like a rod knock.
You will have to watch to the end to find out. 👍😀
15,999
Only 1000 selespeed j believe,
Super rare.
How much was she when sold?
9 k if i remember correctly
@@ItaliaAutos aha. Looks the part done
Just a suggestion, instead of showing us "you looking down the cylinders", why don't you let us see down the cylinders. We are here to see the motor not you.
