@@ItaliaAutos Exactly! Keep as many on the road especially a 3.2. To many 3.2 are getting engine ripped out, then the car is pretty much destined for pillaging. But I suppose the other way of looking at it is if you're storing a sorted 3.2 for future classic status you'll be buying up spares for peanuts and secretly laughing knowing yet another Alfa of the coupé variety will be so scarce within the next decade that there will only be a handful left. Unless your name is Neil who saves them. Top bloke

Hi Neil, with only 4388 3.2 GT's manufactured globally from 2003 - 2010, that alone says it worth repairing. It's also in decent condition.
These GT's will soon be a modern classic's. Definitely a collector's car. (Not the diesels, those are good parts cars lol) Give it the love it needs.
I have a 2005 black on tan 3.2 myself with around the same mileage (km's). Also just completed a full respray and various maintenance repairs.
    Good luck!

I often had passers by stopping to take a close look as these cars are so stylish. Fast car with great handling. Mine was eventually let down by the floor pan and a clutch that nobody seemed to be able to fix properly. Strange, but there you go. I think red and tan is one of the best combos.

Throwback to 2006, we drove out brand new Honda Accord (about 2 months old) about 350km and stopped for some food. Engine off, only the radio going. Radio randomly shuts off, turns out it was the battery going so dead that the instruments wouldn't even come on. The alternator had failed.
Towed it home with a rented trailer, being pulled with a 1998 156 Twin Spark we had bought used in 2002
So far, between the used 156 we had for 11 years, and the 159 we've had for 7, every other car we've had has had more issues than those two combined!
Other stuff being Mazda 6, Honda Accord, Volvo V50, Ford Focus, and now the 2017 Skoda Kodiaq is having massive brake issues and the stereo's misbehaving
As a side note, my mother's first car was a Toyota. Then she bought a used Alfa in the late 70s, and hasn't even considered another brand since then

Wheels were aluminium powder coated and I recon one side has started to oxidise that side of the car was parked south facing🤷🏻‍♂️ the jet fin on the invoice was a typo error it’s only ever had the GTA wheels on it in my ownership. • @KnightRiderDDR
    @KnightRiderDDR 4 года назад +5

My two cents: just repair the rust on the sills and make it mechanically sound and let the new owner who will actually keep it deal with the paint. Unless you can do it yourself. I doubt that the value the repainting will add to the car will be more than the cost of the repainting itself. If saving it will make you even a bit of rofit it is definitely worth doing it and not stripping it for parts.

    Hi Neil,
Too nice to break ,the GT is still a wonderful looking car and the Busso powered ones are becoming very sought after. The Floorpans and sills are in good condition for a 14 year old car and the jacking damage is an easy repair for yourself . Loved my GT 1.9 jtd but it had to go because of badly corroded sills and an awfully replaced quarter panel that wasn't even attached at the lower edge .

  • @fordcorsair

The cost when the power steering failed was what made me get rid of mine - nor as simple as replacing a coupling or-a hose - whole unit needed replacing and a full drop of the engine required to do it - had a mate in the trade who did at cost but was still £700+ over 12 years ago. Shame , beautiful car to drive but enjoyed the Nissan 350Z I swapped it for!

It's obviously been a much loved car, but sometimes the money you have to spend to keep it tip top just gets beyond reasonable. It needs somebody like you to return it to A1, and its not that far off being A1 condition. I believe it's a car worth preserving, but needs somebody with the resources and will to keep it that way. If I were a collector this is one I'd consider.

I really enjoy these videos. It's nice to get a view from underneath the cars, especially for potential buyers looking for an honest deal.
How hard is it to fit that eibach anti roll kit? I'm very interested in installing one on my gt but I believe the subframe needs to be dropped.

Due to the relatively low mileage, and colour combo, I can see a dealer asking £10k for that. Absolute saver that. Shame the first owner chose Alfa red otherwise, potentially with another colour it would've survived a lot better. With all those upgrades it probably handles and brakes superbly as well 😀

Please, someone step up to the plate and take on this project. Its the perfect Busso GT; all that needs to be done now is to dot the i's and cross the t's and you will have a Ferrariesque Alfa. If you are worried about cost, you could do everything except the paint job for now - and then save for that to be done in two years time.

Hi Neil. I live abroad and can't afford to buy this beauty, but I would like to make a proposal: Do everything, I mean everything, it takes to make this Gtv Busso as good as new - in pristine condition- and after the job is done, then sell it at an auction and ask for a descent price. Show us the job you will have done, spare us the costs or give us the costs of the parts you have paid and that's all, dude!
Now, in case you wish, we (the audience) may vote for the stages of the work you do (electrics, mechanical, respraying etc) and we are all happy. Win-win, dude! In this way, we become potential buyers, and at the same time, we watch the rebirth of a motorsport jewel... Best regards, Chris!

Looks like someone has had a lot of enjoyment out of this car. Good upgrades, lowish mileage, decent history. If the body/paint can be put right this could be worth a lot more than you put into it in a few years. Already rare as hen's teeth and last one I was thinking about was north of 10K. Great car. I owned three of these: a 1.9jtd, a 3.2, and then an Autodelta Super. Huge regrets on that last one, it turns out trees are sturdier than Italian steel.
I think I recognise this car from the alfaowners forums: the owner at the time posted about their yellow callipers and got a fair amount of flack for it. You might be able to find some history having a dig around on those forums, although it would have been nearly a decade ago now.
The sad thing is, they aren't worth a huge amount even in pristine spec and condition so it is difficult to argue that one as rough around the edges as this one is worth saving.. All that said, I wish I had space for it, I'd be giving you a call.
