    Im glad that someone took this car and its saved. Something else that i have to say is that the alfas ive seen here in Greece dont have any or very little corrosion- especially in the southern parts- under them, must be the salt they use for the snow I guess in the UK.Nice work as always my friend, best wishes for a merry christmas to you and your beloved ones!

    I hate jobs like this, admire your patience.
    Was hankering after a V6 spider like this, but have decided not to. Would have been good if there was someone like you close to me, but the local Alfa dealer is a shark, as I know from having a Chrysler.
    Will continue to enjoy your videos, thanks.
    Your videos have really helped me with the decision.

    Glad it's been saved, no doubt due to your channel. Pig of a job though for an alternator but I guess that's what happens when you shoehorn a big V6 into a space that was probably designed for a straight 4 😯

  • @ArmySigs

    Open the bonnet of an 86/BRZ and the oil filter is right there looking at you. I nearly cried when I saw that after owning a 147GTA for 5 years lol. I would ask the owner if he wants to refit an original front ARB while the subframe is out, those Eibach ones are horrible for road driving. Great for track use but on a bumpy road useless.

    I admire how you take a personal weakness ("I cannot stand to send any Alfa to the scrapper!") into a business model. You basically manipulate your customers into paying for saving them! :-) Saving a GT is a good cause anyway. It's the last Alfa designed by Bertone and for a Citroën XM driver that is already enough reason to dig it.

    • @marcbrasse747
      @marcbrasse747 3 года назад

      @Saddam Hussein They are still rather affordable, although prices for good examples are starting to rise. Parts avialabality is OK but some parts are indeed getting scarce. Dependability is much higher then their reputation but then agian; these are by now cars with an age of between 31 and 21 years. So I wouldn't advise it as a daily runner for that reason alone. Rust does not tend to be a major problem but check the sills. They can easily be repaiered but then you are then off course already getting into (minor) surgery territory. I am however not surprised only few can be found in Irak! :-)

    I can understand why difficult service issues like that will deter people from saving these cars ... What a shame it wasn’t designed to be more easily serviced.

  • @garysimpson3900

    These things weren't designed with ease of maintenance in mind. Or where they designed to generate funds for the Alfa Service department?

    • @frosty98412

    • @timhancock6626
      @timhancock6626 4 года назад +4

      I think it's more that when the V6 was designed it was a North/South, not East/West engine. Once it went transverse all the service items got hidden. I'm just glad the alternator never failed on my 164 24 Valve. I did the oil changes on my driveway and with no lift the oil filter was a complete pain to change.

    Lot of Alfa’s you are repairing are looking extreme rusty underfloor. I‘ve seen also a lot in Germany with less rust. Is GB using different Winter Salt material, more aggressive or do GB Alfa users not clean underfloor regularly in wintertime? Guess you can not answer that question. It is just an observation I had.

    • @ArmySigs
      @ArmySigs 4 года назад +1

      The engine wasn't originally designed for transverse mounting. It's not actually that hard to get to, you just loosen the brackets that hold the power steering lines and push them out of the way. I've seen French cars where it's in an even worse place :)

    • @johnmoruzzi7236
      @johnmoruzzi7236 4 года назад +2

      If it sits where it is damp and it is not driven then it will become rusty on the surface underneath.
      The main problem is bad modern paint from Alfa... VW or BMW or Volvo would not look like that.
