    Hi everyone! Many of you have asked how I’m able to eat green beans. Even though they are technically a legume, green beans are very low in phytohaemagglutinin (the lectin found in most legumes). This makes green beans much safer and more tolerable on the gut than other legumes. To learn more this, please read the article down below :)

    I have what I call an “invisible illness” because I have so many different symptoms which is mainly my stomach as well as fatigue but no one has been able to diagnose anything. I started this diet today and I’ve been so up and down but this has given me so much hope. I can’t even explain it. I’ve gotten so used to feeling like crap all the time that I joke about it and I just have accepted it but this video opened my eyes to realize it doesn’t have to be this bad all the time. Thank you so much for this video.

      Rosa Dela I felt really nervous and hopeless too but I’m only 5 days in and I can tell you I feel a huge difference. I really recommend aip to anyone suffering from these types of problems.

    • @gracemaxwell2261
      @gracemaxwell2261 5 лет назад

      Rosa Dela of course! And I get where you’re coming from with feeling alone. But I’m halfway through the completely restrictive time and let me tell you, there is such a huge difference. And I found some really solid meals that I really like and some snacks that are allowed and it’s so much easier now. The first time I went shopping was definitely the hardest because I looked at EVERYTHING and the ingredients and just felt so hopeless. But I found some really good staples and keep me going and keep me satisfied and it’s gotten a lot easier. I can’t even tell you how much easier it is from the first day to now. Don’t give up! When the cravings come, don’t acknowledge them, and they’ll pass. Find some really good meals that will be your staple, and fond some snacks that are allowed. Good luck!

      An invisible illness has nothing to do with symptoms. It means you look fine, but are sick. You don't look sick, so that makes it invisible.

    Your story mirrors mine. I'm in the beginning stagges of learning how to transition into this new way of eating. Still trying to get my Dr to take my situation seriously. I live in Northern Canada and Majority of the Dr's here don't yet know anything about auto immune disease. Additionally I'm in an area where our grocery stores are extremely commercial foods. Even the supposed health foods on shelves are not really healthy. Still loaded with additives, corn, corn dervived and full of soy, canola and other no no list oils that don't belong in food. Closest naturopath Dr is 2 hours away from our community. So my food and supplements cost double amount.
    It's frustrating, however I'm working through it and won't stop till I get answers and results.

    (5:39) 'I had a very very very hard time believing it was going to get better...'
    Thanks for saying. I'm 48 and I have faint hope but not much faith in my own ability to change, and less yet that anything will help. It seems to hard to prepare food, expensive and time consuming. I suppose it would be worth it?
    It's hopeful to find people who say they felt so terrible that they couldn't imagine otherwise, and now they are better, because I'm one who isn't better, yet. I dream it is possible, even if not for me, yet. I find it helpful that others are articulate about their journeys, more than I am able to be at present. You are hard to stop listening to. Intelligent, well spoken, and beautiful.

      Sam East Hi! Yes, I do personally try to keep my carbs low because I have found that to be the most successful for me. I have to keep my sugar low because of my SIBO, but in the traditional AIP diet, it isn’t concerned so much with carbs and sugar as much as it is reducing inflammation. Right now though, I would definitely say that I try to do a variation of AIP/Keto. Everyone is different though!

      Jesse MIESTER hi love! I’m so sorry to hear that you are having problems. I have 4 doctors/specialists I rotate between: my primary physician, my endocrinologist (you would probably see a dermatologist instead for alopecia I’m guessing), a dietitian, and a gastroenterologist. It takes a whole team working together, as well as a lot of work on your own, but I would start with a dietician, they will be the most helpful for diet stuff!

    The way you feel is how I'm feeling. I am always bloated, low energy (no matter how much sleep I get), I have a hard time sleeping now which I never had issues with before. I am always tired, I have a hard time working out now and no motivation lately. I am at my heaviest weight ever, my asthma is bad and I have a hard time riding my horse because of of my asthma and how tired I am. I'm not enjoying what I use to love, my stomach hurts and I throw up from eating some foods. Not sure what foods are making me like this. I haven't seen a doctor for it but my mother in-law does this diet for her health and she sent me recipes and info on the AIP diet. I will be starting it soon but I have to admit that i am nervous because I know it will be hard at first. I will end up getting head aches and bad cravings for foods that I can't have but I also know the headaches and awful cravings will get better or go away. I need to do this to better my health.

      Maria YES you can do it. it will make it all worth it, trust me

    • @gastrogal5353
      @gastrogal5353 4 года назад

      Maria, by now I am hoping the AIP diet has helped you tremendously. If you continue with feeling sick after meals you may want to see an Endocrinologist. I was tested for Gastroparesis (GP) and found out that I did have it. That was causing me to get sick after meals, feel sick and bloated, and I just felt like I had the flu a lot. You may care to look it up first and ask for your mom’s opinion. Several things can cause this. Also, I asked my doctor how can this be missed for so long (I had most likely had it for five years), she told me everyone feels like they have the flu so they cut back on what they are eating, feel better and then start eating again slowly. So I have had this for 10 years now and I feel fine if I simply don’t each much at all. I also have Type 1 Diabetes and it makes it very difficult to control the blood sugars since the stomach has delayed emptying which makes taking insulin a guessing game. Sorry, I should have explained a couple of the definitions for it: Slow Emptying of the Stomach, Paralysis of the Stomach, and a few others. It is just something to be award of. High fats, high carbs, high fiber all add to the delay in emptying of the stomach. Now I choose green smoothies, broth and for a treat some sunflower seeds. The less gluten the better I feel. Sometimes I add oyster crackers to my broth but don’t feel so great later. I pray this is NOT part of your path in life, but to know sooner is better. Then, with time you may be able to eat a little more of your favorite things with time. Just last week I got the diagnosis of Hashimoto’s and as sad as it is, I am glad because they have been giving me meds for each of the symptoms (with the exception of losing my hair!). Just think of all those meds I most likely did NOT need to take just brewing in my stomach. So trust in your own gut, be your own best advocate and keep up the good fight. If you are feeling up to it I would love to know how you are doing these days. Wishing you a healthy, happy day, GastroGal

    There is a video going around of this guy Jordan Peterson talking to Joe Rogan and saying he is on the Carnivore Diet because he's allergic to basically everything. I wonder if in fact, he has these conditions or something similar and is undiagnosed. Many think he is losing weight because it's Low Carb and therefor not driving insulin, but may his issue is the carbs were feeding bad bacteria. I'm here researching because I have weight but I'm skinny fat or something with normal limbs and a big gut. Something about this has always seemed off to me. Also, my mom had surgery for Hashimoto's so it makes me wonder.

      Dan Falls Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video! It definitely sounds like that man could have SIBO, and potentially other undiagnosed conditions. Both food allergies and SIBO are pretty common with autoimmune diseases. I honestly think everyone should get tested for basic autoimmune diseases with their yearly physical. @@chloflow I'm not quite AIP but close. However I have to track my calories daily or I don't get enough because of the foods don't have much. When I was close to AIP I was only getting 1200 to 1400 calories and I think that really hurt me hypothyroidism wise. Low calorie diets are very bad with hashimoto's. Now I make sure I get 2000 to 2200...I'm a Male though. Only difference is I eat eggs and oatmeal and nightshades. My TSH was 71 though when I was diagnosed so I had to take drastic steps to get better. I think the diet helped but was also taking medication at same time. It's a journey though.
