Elizabeth...we are behind you 100 percent! We switched our way of eating back in Feb. Clean eating, low glycolic veggies, low glycolic fruit, lean protein and healthy fats. Our bodies are healing. My husband has lost 35 pounds so far and I jut hit the 50 pound milestone. We are stronger, more rested and have more energy. I'm so excited to see how you feel a little down the road. Here, we don't say "I can't have that" we say, " I choose not to eat that" or " I don't want that." It helps with our mindset. Have a blessed Monday!😊

If you are talking about low "carb" fruits and vegetables, the word to use is glycemic, pertaining to the carbohydrates in food. Glycolic, pertaining to an acid, is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), a group of naturally occurring “fruit acids” that can be found in foods. It is typically found and used in products used on the skin.

Elizabeth, we truly are what we eat, I am doing Keto right now. I have no health issues but have gained a lot of fluid and "old age belly fat" as I have been told. I love you two. Sometimes when your body is going through a detox, your autoimmune symptoms will get worse before they get better. Stick with it and hopefully you will see self healing. I, too, have an autoimmune disease and have had to make most of my own meals. Don't like the sick feeling I get when I eat out or eat things that I have a reaction to.

I too am on a new journey. On July 5th I was admitted to the hospital with extremely high blood pressure and very high blood sugar count. I was there for 15 days. While there I had several visits from the diabetic nurse educator-dietician. I learned so much from her. My sister-in-law happened to be there when she came one day. She was very impressed with her. She taught me a whole new way to eat which has to be a part of my life now. I do not count calories, but instead count grams which are on most every item one buys and then convert the grams to carbs. I am allowed 45.grams per meal which equals 3 carbs per meal or 9 carbs per day and I can eat normal foods(I have be careful of their sugar content. It is also about their portion size. I have lost almost 30 lbs. And I hope that by the time I go back to the doctor in 2 months that I will have another 10 lbs. off and I am never hungry and I feel so good. My goal was not to have to take insulin injections when I came home (because I had extremely high newly diagnosed blood sugar levels and my long term goal is to get off medicine all together. I have been told that the possibility is good that I can do this. Then I will continue to control it just by diet. Plans are different for different people and one should educate themselves as to what will work for them. Both my sister-in-laws were so impressed with the weight I have lossed that they wanted the book that the hospital had given me. A simple plan to follow and works real well. Portion control is a part in it also and we all should watch the that! Well I hope that you do as well as I have been doing. It is onward and upward. That doughnut or piece of pie just is not worth the fact that I feel so much better.😃😃😃🕊🕊🕊👍👍👍

The first main problem with autoimmune is leaky gut syndrome, vitamin C gradually in diet, and removing refined sugars. Use probiotics or make good Sauer kraut.
We used to only eat sugar candies on holiday or birthday, but gradually refined sugar has crept into our diet. I dont even drink juice because of concentrated sugar. They stopped making unsweetened orange juice because it didnt sell as well. Catsup didn't have sugar in it. .really.. we used to be able to eat bread but because of leaky gut it now aggrevates underlying symptoms. I've done keto and it does help.. but compare sugar even in pasta sauce... youd be amazed at differences.

I was born 73 years ago with an autoimmune disorder and my skin has always been under attack by allergies to foods and environmental sources. I have Celiac disase and for 10 years, been suffering from a blistering eczema. Mine does itch and stings like a milder bee sting.
Then I recently discovered in doing research to help my 48 yr. old daughter with horrendous joint pains (all medical tests were negative for arthritis etc.) that white potatoes, peanuts, rice and other foods cause inflammation that can cause considerable pain throughout the body. Three days after stopping these foods (her favorites), her joint pain and exhaustion was gone!!!!
I'm going to try this food plan you are on and share it with my daughter and her Deputy Sheriff husband who is also suffering from Crohns disease and painful joints and hands....not safe in his profession.
Please keep us posted on your recipes and health and weight progress, Elizabeth. My doctors told me that they've heard about inflammatory foods causing pain but actually have no experience with it. So they too need to be informed to help other patients with this. Pain and stiffness, immobility and suffering dramatically interferes with our quality of life. Thank you!!

Table salt is toxic & the amount in processed foods is a crime! Switching to pink Himalayan Crystal salt will give you a noticable difference. I distill my water & add minerals to it. Using pink Himalayan Crystal salt, which is rich in magnesium, not only stops painful swelling, the taste encourages me to drink more water. And, bonus, being hydrated levels out your blood pressure! Instead of taking their meds, drink more water.

Oh wow Elizabeth! I’m so amazed that you are able to stick to such a restrictive diet. I would never ever even try to do that.
I hope you will continue with doctor checkups. The reason I say that is because I have an autoimmune disease - it’s called polymyositis (a rare muscle disease where your muscles are being basically chewed up - necrosis). It presents itself with weakness in the muscles. It also is inflammation caused. Before I was diagnosed it did so much damage to my body. It attacked my lungs causing pulmonary arterial hypertension, interstitial lung disease, and carcinoid cancer in my lung. No diet of any type would have prevented it from happening and no diet I could be on now could eliminate the need for my medications to stop me from relapsing.
With that being said, I’m sure this diet would benefit my body and help me with weight loss and to possibly feel better.
The direction for myself has been more of moderation in all things. I love all of those vegetables you mentioned and buy turnips and radishes just for snacking. I try to eat lots of veggies and fruit. I eat fairly sensible , I drink plenty of water. But I am 60 years old and I also want to enjoy the remainder of my life. If I want to eat an ice cream cone or have a piece of cake I will. I love soda and if I want one I will.
That is why I admire so much and what you are trying to do. You are basically only eating poultry, fish, vegetables, and a few fruits. I applaud you because I could never do that.
Just be certain you go to the dr often because you don’t ever want to let your body attack itself like mine did. I only have 50% lung capacity now and need oxygen.
I’m wondering what autoimmune diseases you suffer from? I didn’t think psoriasis classified as autoimmune? Maybe I’m wrong?
Anyway, you are a good example to me. I’m just not as disciplined as you and especially for the rest of my life. I guess I like food too much and it would take the fun out of it all - cooking, parties, holidays etc.
I wish you the very very best of luck and a big hug!! - and a lot of improved health! 💗😊

Elizabeth, I’m so happy to hear how encouraged you are about your new eating plan. My daughter who also has psoriasis, has seen an improvement since she started eating “clean”. Lots and lots and lots of avocado 🥑. Not sure if you’re allowed to have bananas and blueberries, but she mashes both and makes “pancakes”. Frys in olive or coconut oil. My husband and son really like them too. McKenna, my daughter, also eats a lot of greens and sweet potatoes, salmon, uncured bacon 🥓, absolutely no grains or dairy. Dairy is a no no for her as she is lactose intolerant. Instead, she uses almond milk. She initially made the switch when she participated in the “whole 30” challenge and has continued to eat that way for well over a year. I’ll have to tell her about the autoimmune protocol paleo way. She moved from NYS to Florida a few years ago and I know the sunshine helps psoriasis, but she gives credit to her diet. It only makes sense though, as processed food isn’t really food. I’ll have to tell her about parsnips. Maybe she already eats them, lol. Thank you for sharing and I’m so happy about you possibly finding some relief 💕

So glad you talked about the Paleo lifestyle because I've been on keto for a yr with good results on weight loss. I'm missing the lack of variety and getting bored with eating the same ole things. Gonna check this out because I suffer from chronic pain requiring strong pain meds. Inflammation is what causes some pain issues.
I laughed so hard at your nat problems cause that has happened to me too! Blessings ~Sidney

Elizabeth, you look FABULOUS! I'm thrilled that you've chosen to just eat 2 instead of 6 meals a day. I've learned that whenever we eat, it spikes insulin, even if just a snack. I had type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's, MS and Epstein Barr Syndrome, along with major memory loss and brain dysfunction. I can't take medications of any kind due to hyper sensitivity to chemicals. As of last year, I no longer have those autoimmune disorders. Memories are returning and my brain is allowing me SOME access to it's files. I've taught myself to count and spell again! I'm not completely healed, but I've come a LONG way!
I prayed and did a lot of research for anything that would help me heal. I chose Dr. Berg's healthy Keto and intermittent fasting program. His motto: "It's not lose weight to get healthy, It's get healthy to lose weight." Overweight wasn't my issue. The quality of my food is extremely important, due to chemical sensitivity! I eat one meal a day (I just don't need or want more than that) and fast the other 22 hours. If I'm not hungry, I don't eat anything at all. That allows my body to do major housecleaning. I have more energy than I've had for years.
Many times I'm simply not able to leave home, so I grow my food right here. It saves me a 60 minute round trip drive to the grocer, time and money by growing my own and it's convenient! I can make a salad out of anything, have healthy oils, eggs and meat in my little fridge. Growing micro greens in jars with water, gives me a boost, too. Each body has different issues and needs. I know what my plan has done for me and I pray that the plan you've chosen will do even more for you!
I was an OTR truck driver for over 20 years. I remember next to nothing about that last trip from IN to TX and back in 2014. For 2 years, I'd been praying to get out of that truck and start doing natural health research at home. Well, God got me out of the truck, just not quite how I planned, though! hahaha! He did keep me and everyone around me safe. I didn't hurt anything or anyone. He got me home safely and I depended on Him for everything that first year! People I didn't even know started sending me money to live on. At the start of the 2nd year of this journey, I finally gave in and applied for disability. I was approved in less than 1 month. I know in my heart that God's hand was in that, too, just as He'd saved me from harm so many times over the years! I'm SO very grateful for all that He's done for me! I know that I'm one blessed woman!! God is good...ALL the time...no matter what!!! May God mightily bless you and your loved ones!!

Oooo, Elizabeth you'll probably like my favorite roasted vegetable dish... carrots, turnips, parsnips, rutabaga, sweet potato (cubed)... drizzled with olive or coconut oil, or lard (if you render your own from high quality sources, 'Leaf Lard' is the best) and sprinkle with whatever herbs you like, bake until done. It's so delicious, easy, and yummy. Oh, and molasses is excellent. Do you have the cookbook titled Nourishing Traditions? It's about eating in the old ways, I think it will fit perfectly into your prized collection. Marrow bones is another good one (from local grass-raised cattle), I like to cook the marrow bone, scrape it out and then use the marrow to make a broth or gravy.
Here's something else that you may find very enjoyable and beneficial, I know I have for decades. It's a herb tea blend I put together, but it's unlike others. You take a pinch of these dried herbs, put it all into a tea ball, steep for 7 minutes, add a dab of honey if you like. The best herbs are: Nettle, Dandelion Leaf, Chickweed, Red Clover Blossom, Spearmint, Alfalfa Leaf, Astragalus. Very good for the immune system, balancing to systems, healing, extremely nourishing. I do not buy these individual herbs from health food stores, they usually carry the brand Frontier and the quality is poor. I have always gotten my herbs from Mountain Rose Herbs... once you have used their herbs you will quickly learn to recognize high quality herbs at potential other sources (quality makes a huge difference here) and you then might be able to find a local source, or not, it depends. BTW, all of these herbs you will be able to grow in your new garden in your climate.
So nice to hear you're seeing improvement, that must feel like such a relief. Be well and heal completely. Much Love to you.

I am not a cook in any form. so seeing you do the recipe caused anxiety for me but I do want to eat better. I.am.gong to research the paleo recipes to help my joint issues. I have been trying to figure out how to handle the recipes. your binder idea is great. I live in a small town so we do not have one single heath food store. I am accepting this as a process and I will work on it because I also want to change my food long term--- like forever. I have noticed that when I eat good food and no sugar my depression disappears. It is amazing. I am addicted to sugar and it is my last addiction and I want to be free. I have been in prayer seeking guidance. paleo has been popping up every day for me. so I have to figure out which cookbook because it has to be simple and not overwhelming and confusing. The recipe I saw you doing looked easy enough. my other issue is I work still and I come home exhausted so food prep on a daily basis is out. I will have to see how I can prepare the food for the week on Sunday. I liked the thrive life cooking cards. a numbered step system works so well for me. Maybe that is how I will organize each recipe for myself. I have noticed there are some healthy choices in the regular grocery store but one has to really hunt to find the food. lol. Thank you for sharing your food plan. I never miss Tea With Jesus. 😀

Greetings Elizabeth and Bill! Thank you Elizabeth for covering this topic that seems to be becoming more and more prevalent in our times. For myself, I’ve had psoriasis for many years followed by of course psoriatic arthritis. Then one day while walking my dog in the woods a tiny tick hopped on me. I’m not sure how long it was attached as it was on my neck around the bend. Anyway blood tested + for Lyme, I took antibiotics and between the 3 autoimmune conditions I’m pretty miserable. Chronic extreme fatigue, joint and muscle(...?...) pain etc. So when I came across your You Tube video with dietary guidelines it brought a smile to my face🙃. Thank you Elizabeth!! I’ll let you know how it goes. Also, keep us updated on how you’re doing! Love you guys💕

I've been doing keto (on and off) for over a year. I have lost most of the weight which was my main motivator, but the added benefits have been wonderful. When I do fall off the wagon and eat anything with wheat in it, I feel uncomfortable, bloated and gassy. Not pleasant. My skin also behaves better. When you find something that works, it's worth the sacrifices. BTW...every family dinner my Mom prepares mashed carrots and turnips. They are a family favourite. Be blessed!

I also have autoimmune disease, and while the diet has helped, I am of the opinion that you need to take another step back and ask, "Why did I develop autoimmune disease in the first place?" If you can answer that, you have a better chance of getting it into remission. (Seriously - you can get your autoimmune into full remission). There are many reasons, and yours is individual to you. For me, I finally found out that I have an overgrowth of particular bad bacteria. My daughter has the exact same ones, and I'm convinced my mother also had them and that they lead to her many problems and ultimate dementia. The test that can help figure out your particular reason is called, "Comprehensive Stool Analysis." Doing the AIP diet is great, and helpful, but I have to also fight to kill those bad bacteria that I've probably had my entire life. For you, it might be toxins, or heavy metals or parasites or candida or whatever else. Find out the why of your own autoimmune issues and you have a far better chance of conquering it. I'm still working at it - but am a lot better than I was five years ago. God bless.

Loved the bloopers.. I was laughing so hard that hubby came to see what was so funny. Thanks for the laugh Elizabeth. Great video, and great content. I have recently been told by my Dr to avoid wheat, gluten and grains. In doing so, I feel so much better and dropped 16lb in 2 months. Am rooting for you Elizabeth to get your system back to "snuff". I'm going to get some parsnips and oven roast them with olive oil and herbs. My dil does it with sweet potato, brussel sprouts, parsnips and carrots, and I can eat a whole tray (well almost) of it. Soooo yummy.
Thanks for sharing & God Bless 💝

Thanks for sharing. I have autoimmune diseases and my doctor suggested I try a whole food plant based diet. I just started 2 weeks ago. Giving up meat hasn’t been an issue. I bought 4 parsnips on Saturday and never had it before. I’ve been purchasing strange things which I never tried before. But if this doesn’t work I’ll try what you are on. 🌿

We cut dairy out about 6 yrs ago and haven't been sick since, except minor seasonal colds. Cut meat down to and only eat pastured or 100% grass fed, antibiotic free. So happy you're doing better. Idk, if you're allowed to but coconut nectar is a good, low glycerin sweeter to. Just throwing that in..
