  • No one says I'm perfect, and even as an AIP Health Coach - I make mistakes. Find out the 3 big ones I've made this round of AIP and what I've eaten for the Autoimmune Paleo Protocol (AIP) during days 33-36.
    At the end of this video I mention a new resource I have - it's totally free if you sign up for my email list - The Guide to Natural Autoimmune Disease Relief. Get it here: thrivingautoimmune.com/natura...

    The Paleo Healing Cookbook: amzn.to/2slGqmb
    The meals I ate:
    Day 33
    Breakfast - Hash of diced sweet potatoes, apples, onions, and ground pork cooked in a skillet with Primal Palate Breakfast Blend (www.primalpalate.com/organic-s... ) and fresh arugula
    Lunch: (Picnic lunch) Wraps with Downshiftology Cassava Flour tortillas (downshiftology.com/recipes/ca... ), a guac made of an avocado, a splash of apple cider vinegar, a splash of lime juice, a pinch of garlic powder, and a pinch of sea salt, + prosciutto and mixed greens
    Lime La Croix Sparkling Water
    Inka Chips Plantain Chips (amzn.to/2JsYPIh)
    AIP Carob Chip Cookie (www.flametofork.com/2014/11/ch...)
    Dinner - Paleo on the Go Cuban Picadillo (potg.co/2uBBZXU) I'd recommend getting a side dish to go with this one as it was kind of small
    Day 34
    Breakfast - AIP Waffles (www.thesweetpeablogger.com/re...) - I recommend on this one NOT to eat all of them as it's a LOT of sugar for one person in one meal
    served with sugar-free US Wellness Bacon www.grasslandbeef.com?affId=208370 and a Dandelion Chicory Root "Coffee" (I'm at 1 tsp of dandelion root (amzn.to/2JQtE6s) , 1/4 tsp chicory (amzn.to/2yg9x0f) , and 1/4 tsp carob powder (amzn.to/2yi6ncs) in a french press for 3 minutes with hot water - still working on the perfect combo for me)
    Lunch - leftover kalua pork from last week with leftover cassava flour tortilla, guac, radishes, mixed greens, and plantain chips
    Dinner - Thai Coconut Chicken Soup from The Paleo Healing Kitchen (see link above in book resources)
    Day 35 -
    Breakfast - leftover breakfast hash from day 33
    Lunch - Leftover Thai soup + black olives
    Dinner - Beef Carnitas (recipe from The Healing Kitchen) with baked plantains (yellow plantains sliced and then drizzled with avocado oil and sea salt then baked in the oven at 425 F for 25 minutes, flipping once in the between), shredded red cabbage, cilantro, green onions, shredded carrots, lime wedges
    *needed a sauce - next time I'd do an avocado mayo
    Day 36
    Breakfast - leftover breakfast hash with sliced strawberries and arugula
    Lunch - Bacon and Rosemary Beef Liver Pate (recipe from the Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook - see link above in Books) over sweet potato toast and garnished with radishes and arugula + leftover carnitas and plantains
    Dinner - AIP Orange Teriyaki Chicken Meatballs by AIP Lifestyle (aiplifestyle.com/chicken-teri... ) * I use ground pork instead of chicken
    and Roasted Broccoli (without the red pepper flakes or black pepper): thrivingautoimmune.com/simple...

    Great video! One of the WORST mistakes I made early on was doing the reintro phase too early. Hope you continue to have awesome results!

      Thanks, and thanks for sharing! It's definitely important to wait until you see quite measurable results, even though you really really want to reintroduce coffee :-) Good that you know that you did that though - some people would just brush it off that AIP didn't work.

      I am a year into aip, still not done with reintros. my worst problem is way better now, but I still have things I need to figure out. Organise better, eat more mussels and suiss chard, finde out why I am so terribly exhausted and still have digestion issues that make it impossible to realy reintro something and be able to tell what it does. I often miss on haveing a steady protein intake but with basicly not freezing and grudge space it is so hard to prep . . . .but it gets better

    I wonder if throwing the liver in with the bone broth would extract what we need? I make bone broth every week and have a whole cow liver in my freezer and have access to rabbit livers. Only other think I can think of is dehydrate and put in a capsule. Also I can’t stand seafood, not eating it, ever, sorry. That’s a hard no. Now fermented food I LOVE!! I just keep a round of them going on my countertop at all times. So yum. Just make fermented pickles and fermented red onion and top your food with it. Easy for beginners.

    I want to eat more seafood but I can’t always buy wild caught high quality sources so end up not eating much of it cause I don’t want the low quality stuff. Do you think I should purchase the low grade stuff just to get some of it in or just keep it out until I can get the good stuff?

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  4 года назад +3

      Personally, I think farmed, low-quality fish is still better than no fish at all, but I still wouldn't eat a ton of it. Like once or twice a week though is fine. And also consider wild-caught canned salmon, tuna, and sardines, which are cheap, but packed with nutritional value (be sure any canned fish is free of soy and spices though if you're on AIP!).

      No chance, I ran the number again and again, there is no way to get enough protein, zinc is tricks too and with actualy useful Omega 3 I do not even have to start. . . . I tried believe me.
      I opted to buy only cute and organ meats that are throwen away if I do not buy them it is cheap and better than if the animal died for nothing . . .

    I hate beef and red meat in general- I only can eat ground beef. What's a good recipe for ground beef for AIP?

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  4 года назад

      you could make this without the lamb (if you don't like lamb - just replace it with more ground beef): thrivingonpaleo.com/aip-gryo-wrap-sandwich-recipe-with-tzatziki-sauce/ . You don't have to make it as a sandwich either, just make it meal over cauliflower rice without the bread.

    • @SingingSealRiana
      @SingingSealRiana 3 года назад

      Few things are more versityle than ground meat, there are so many recipes for it. You can even hide liver, at least chicken liver in it!
      Fry it in a pan with scallions, or zucchini, or both. Fill mushrooms with it, fill squash with it, pur it ontop of a squash soup. Combine it with plantains, male meat balls with all typs of different herbs and garlic realy there is an endless streamt of things you can do

    Should you still eat sauerkraut despite all the bloating and gas? I'm having these symptoms as well

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  6 лет назад +1

      You can, but I'd reduce the amount you're having. Maybe take it out for a few days, make sure the gas and bloating goes away (to ensure it's from the sauerkraut instead of something else), then eat just a 1/2 tsp or so. If you get symptoms, then reduce it down even more and see if you have issues. If you don't have symptoms then you can try increasing by a 1/2 tsp each day. You can also just drink the juice, like a 1/2 tsp, and see what happens then - this is what Dr. Natasha from the GAPS diet recommends for sensitive people. You'll probably find a spot where you're tolerant, and then you can increase it gradually. At least that works for me. Sometimes people have histamine intolerance that prevents them from increasing or eating it at all, and that needs to be addressed before you'll be able to tolerate it.

      @@MicheleSpring thanks for your advice! I'm pretty sure it's the sauerkraut. I'll try to eat a smaller amount and see how it goes

    Great recipes but in my opinion they are too involved for AIP. Maybe after being on AIP for a few months one can move towards this style of cooking if time allows. I suggest that anyone starting off with AIP should do whole30 then eliminate the foods that are not AIP compliant. That will give your body time to adjust to restrictive eating (addictions to carbs and sugar). Once whole30 is complete, have simple meals made with less than 3 or 4 ingredients using Whole Organic Foods. Try to keep your over-all ingredients simple for the first 3 to 4 weeks. You might get bored but keep going until your symptoms start to improve. At that point you can being reintroductions slowly over time as a celebration. This will give your gut time to heal and let you know if you are on the right track. If you make elaborate meals and your symptoms don't improve, how would you know which food or activity is causing it? Finally, look at your environment to make sure it's clean and healthy. And look at what kind of pans you are cooking with. Stick with stainless steel or cast iron. Everything else you might have a sensitivity to it due to toxins from teflon etc.

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  5 лет назад +6

      That's definitely a way to approach it, but I think a lot of people (me included) would never start, nor continue, if I could only eat 3-4 ingredients each meal. I don't favor being overly restrictive, just being restrictive enough to find out what's causing issues and healing. I'd rather go the opposite way - try for a few weeks with less restrictive (still within AIP) and then if still not feeling better, then look at the other foods that could be causing problems and/or infections, etc. But definitely, there are people who would probably rather go for your approach as well (like I could totally see my dad being that way). Everyone is different, and that's why I love approaches like Paleo because they are so custom and not one-sized fits all!
