  • In this video I go into detail about the evolution of my diet. I have had QUITE the journey finding out a diet that works for me, my condition, and all my food allergies and sensitivities. I started out doing a vegan/plant based diet and ended up doing the Autoimmune Protocol Diet. I am not here to tell anyone that their diet or lifestyle is wrong, I am simply here to share my story!

    This is exactly my current situation. So glad I found your video. I've decided to give up my vegan lifestyle, as it has exacerbated all of my inflammatory, and auto-immune issues. I'm in the process of starting AIP, and its encouraging to hear there other people out there who have struggled with the same issues I have. Having to switch to an AIP diet its hard enough, but when you've previously had chosen to live a plant-based diet, the decision also carries a the ethical component. I wish you the best of luck on your journey to healing, I look forward to hearing more about your story, and where you are today.

    This is my story!! This hit home and made me cry! I’ve been vegan for over 10 yrs and I’ve gotten sicker and sicker. I felt something telling me to eat meat and I just couldn’t bare the thought. I couldn’t eat grains, beans, corn or soy and certain veggies. It was so frustrating. I was bloated and in pain everday. I had major depression and brain fog. Just eating meat was hurting my heart. But I have been getting better and better. I have more energy and no bloating or brain fog. I hope to someday to be vegan again but for now I am healing my body and being greatful to the animal who died so that I could heal. I have so much guilt especially because I’m feeling better eating this way. Thanks so much for sharing your story. Yours is the first I’ve found like mine and I know I’m not alone. Thanks so much!! ❤️❤️🌈🌈🙏🌼

    I have changed to paleo ( once again) after being vegetarian and almost vegan for 1.5 years and finding out that my my was inflamed and all my symptoms of RA had come back.
    It's true is a painful prmotibak rocess to start eating meat again specially when one cares about the suffering if other beings but we need to understand that not all bodies are made the same at our core we are still animals and we need to provide our bodies with the nutrients it needs, I am two weeks on AIP diet and is working amazingly, today for the first time in two years I woke up jon pain and stomach bloating free 💓🙏

    Im on AIP. Eat organic free range eggs and ocean caught seafood. You dont have to eat beef, pork and poultry or dairy. I only eat coconut dairy and some chicken, a lot seafood. Cutting out grains, nuts, seeds, legumes and dairy really helped me. If you want to eat animal products just eat organic.

      The 1st stage of AIP only lasts 4 to 6 weeks, you then follow 4 steps to reintroduce certain foods. Eggs were not a trigger for me and are not for most people. They have a lot of nutrition and are a good source of protein.

    Hi I appreciated this video. I have several of the issues you described and a really hard time losing weight. Many holistic practioners I turn to have pressured me to go change my vegan lifestyle. I've had a hard time giving in, I truly feel that you can get everything you need but it just may be more difficult. It angers me that they say if you don't eat grass fed beef and pigs without anything added then you will be unhealthy. However as my body had ever growing sensitivities to almost anything, I gave into eating some things. After 15 years of not eating fish I started eating wild salmon fir the benefits of omega 3 and heart health and protein. Canned tuna makes me sick so I can't eat that. After 4 years of not eating eggs I started eating them because I did food testing and did an elimination diet so eggs became a replacement. I will stop eating them eventually though. I am not healed but in a journey. I will not give into eating pigs, cows, chicken or turkeys. I feel there are many proteins you didn't discuss. I have been gluten-free and limited soy( occasionally) for many years. There is pea protein, hemp, pumkin seed, nuts, nut butter, seeds, tahini, hummusvegan Greek yogurt, beyond sausage, protein shakes, chial, spiruluna. Many low carb gluten-free ways to get protein.

    Thank you for your vulnerability! I'm vegan 3 years I have considered changing, but I can't. I went whole foods plant based first then went vegan. I know this wasn't easy for you. I won't go back because of everything I know. I was extremely sick for years. Dx with MS 22 years ago and I know looking back I had thyroid and adrenal issues a long time. I have had candida for years. When stressed candida goes crazy.
    I have given up gluten and that has helped, also all processed soy products, there are some nightshade, I'm finding that with healing leaking gut, cleaning up the candida, taking enzymes, and other suppliments has helped, started on low dose Tirosint. Changing my lifestyle, changing the way I workout to low intensity instead of pushing so hard all the time, meditation. All this has helped. Hoshimotos is calming and MS is quiet. Like you said it wasn't for you. I personally think doctors want to blame a vegan diet for our illnesses instead of getting to the roots of our health challenges. Allergies and sensitivities are most likely from an unheald gut. But not always. Not balancing out your microbiome. So any way, I'm tweaking my lifestyle and foods as well without having to not be vegan. I can't go back.
    Good luck on your journey. Your so young and sounds like you were hitting life hard when dx. So I hope now you are doing better. No condemnation here. Wish you the best.
    Side note; I couldn't walk and many other symptoms because of MS and whole food plant based vegan has changed that. Now if I'm stressed or I eat processed vegan foods I don't do well.
    I personally wish doctors would stop blaming being a vegan on health challenges. I think junk food vegans there's exceptions, but I wish doctors would get more educated to help people get to the root instead of blaming veganism. Best to you on your journey. 💛🧡

I did AIP, vegan, gluten free, soy free, low fodmap, all top 8 allergen free, food sensitivity test diets, paleo, keto, etc. Turns out i have some really weird intolerances and allergies like tomatoes and beef amongst other things. Now it makes sense as to why the diets werent working, not to mention the SIBO and Candida complications too.

      My general practitioner diagnosed me. PLEASE make sure you keep pushing. Ask for thyroid blood tests and make sure they test T3, T4, TSH, and TPO Antibodies. Most of the time, doctors only check your TSH and many people with thyroid issues can have a normal TSH value. If you aren't getting the right answers, make sure to go to an endocrinologist and you might have more luck. I'm sorry it's been such a pain!

    I know you said you keep carbs/sugar low have you ever tracked macros? Id like to know ur daily carb intake if it is below 50g you may well be in ketosis which is also very anti-inflammatory. :)

    • @chloflow
      @chloflow  6 лет назад +6

      Sam East Hi Sam! Yes, I do track my macros :) I try to eat AT MOST 20 grams of sugar a day, the less the better! And I try to keep my carbs between 50-60 grams a day. I usually eat salads or fish and cauliflower or broccoli rice for lunch and dinner is usually a lean protein (I try to limit my red meat intake to once a week or so) and vegetables like broccoli, brussel sprouts, squash, green beans, and carrots. I usually have raspberries or blueberries in unsweetened almond milk yogurt as a dessert!

    • @sameast3130
      @sameast3130 6 лет назад +3

      Hi, yes that level of carbs is Ketosis which on its own has been shown to cure many diseases. Another RUclipsr *adamimmune* is also in complete remission from doing (aip-lowcarb) - I know you was a vegan is that the reason you eat red meat 1s per week? I find red meat very healthy. I do get grass fed if possible doesn't really matter though imo. I've never been vegan but I did have high carb diet, fruit/veg grains I feel that may have started my auto disease also :D Glad you are doing well :)

    Being vigan doesent make you a better person. I am glad that there are people like you that tell they story. That make us think that life is not just what you eat and what we think about animals or some food industry, it is about other areas that make us a whole.
    science make us think and being flexible be cause it is always changes over the years, so we must have our minds open to new knoleg (scientifically speaking). vegan is very dengerous if you are not conscious be cause to cut a lot of food groups will not guaratees a better life or health. Spetialy when being vegan is so radical and extream, be cause there are some food that you cant eat because of an idea or an ethical current.
    congratulation chlo flow!

    I’m here because I’m going to start the AIP diet but I’m normally a plant based eater because a lot of meat, especially red meat, kills my stomach and I found that most of my staples have to be cut out. No rice, no beans, no oats or nuts when I drink only oat and almond milk, none of the spices that I love! I’m not quite sure how I’m going to handle this. When I was vegan, I felt absolutely fantastic and was in the best shape of my life but it didn’t help my alopecia or skin issues whatsoever. I went vegan for my gut issues, which it 100% did help but it did nothing for autoimmune problems. After about 10 surgeries and an ostomy, I had to go back to some mainstream eating. Added in some meats, eggs and cheese but remain predominantly plant based. My alopecia has gotten way worse, I’m reacting bad to the meds they try to help me with and I’m sick of injections so here I am, hoping this AIP diet can help but so concerned for my stomach and guts. After cutting everything out, how long do you have to go before starting to add items back in?

    • @bleepbloop1196
      @bleepbloop1196 3 года назад

      @seaglassmomma the time frame is different for everybody but it’s supposed to be once your symptoms go away some people it’s a month some a few and even longer so don’t be discouraged if it’s not as fast as everybody you see talking about it truly depends on how damaged your body is and what parts are damaged then you start the reintroduction phase which is very specific the way you are supposed to add in foods so make sure to google the reintroduction process. I joined vegan and non vegan aip groups on Facebook and that has been very helpful with recipes and support and can pick and choose what does and doesn’t work for me

    So how did you go with your healing journey?
    I am just starting after various other diets having mixed success. Try explaining to my Mum or Sister (both vegans) that many vegan fruits, veggies, nuts, legumes etc are full of anti-nutrients or problematic compounds, fibre, sugar etc that needs to be removed to aid healing a compromised GI system.. nope! A vegan diet cures everything!!! 🤦‍♂️😅
