    So I am a chick and thanks to you I just changes my first belt!!!! Women's hands are smaller so I didn't have a lot of trouble!!! Thank you soooo very very much!!!! Brakes next!!!!

      I can attest to the part about hand size--I'm a guy. I have trouble taking my oil cap off without removing the engine cover because my hand can't fit in the hole to loosen the cap off.

    Apologies for less than perfect filming are not necessary. You took time out of your repair to help others. For that I say thank you. Not complex, but it's always nice to have an idea of what to look for before diy repair. Kudos.

    Bro thank you for your video because it help me A LOT. I change my drive belt on my 11 Altima today. It took me 3 hrs because I never change the belt before, however I save 300 dollars. Its well worthy if you ask me. I know my car inside out which is the reason i didnt mind changing the belt. I replace my bumper as well a year ago. Its all about saving money . I only paid 24.99 (Amazon) Thanks again

    Thank you so much!! Went in for a recall to the Nissan dealership and they told me my drive belt was "severely damaged" and quoted $270 (!!!) to change it. With your video, it took me $25 and an hour to change it. Thank you again!

    I just replaced my exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe because of this video. lol. You have to remove the belt and alternator for manifold bolts. I was not confident at all about the belt. So thanks alot. Saved about $900

    Thanks good video what is important is to make sure when when you pull the tensioner back with the 14mm open end that you back far enough and clear the pulley with the wrench so you get enough play in the belt to get it back on coming off is easy but if you don't pull the tensioner back far enough you will think you have the wrong belt. Thanks again for a good video!!

      That's robbery if the car is similar. If two people are doing this, even accounting for the belt being OEM and costing $50+, that's a 15-minute job.

  • @johnn8414
    @johnn8414 9 лет назад +5

    Thank you! There are holes in the tensioner bracket and block that let you put an Allen wrench (1/4" I think) that you can lock the tensioner "out" so belt routing/install are easier. you can see the holes if you look. It made it so much easier!. There are a couple of good videos for this and I thank you guys for posting these.. I just changed the Crankshaft position sensor, very common on these cars, (a total pain in the ass!) because the car was stalling and hard starting a lot. while doing that job I noticed the belt was shot (124,000 mi on original!!) so this is the next project. Thanks again.

    Thanks from Canada, for the video. Looks like our 2004 Altima with 65K miles is in need of a belt change, so I ordered on on Ebay (Gates) and will attempt this now that I've seen this video! I'll assume most 2.5L Nissan engines are very similar, (with air) so I'll be giving this a try tonight. Thanks again, much appreciated!

    This video came in handy for changing the belt on my 2010. My only issue is the wrench I used. I know there are serpentine belt kits that have a breaker bar with attachment jaws on them that you can use. I tried with one of these and didn't have enough clearance from the ground doing this with the standard jack the car comes with. I tried using a regular 14mm wrench and ran into issues of the wrench slipping off the tensioner bolt for lack of not having enough grip and torque. I ended up using a 14 mm offset wrench that was a little bit longer than my standard 14mm wrench to get a nice hold on the bolt on the tensioner due to the offset bend. If I had to do this again though, I might do it with a Klutch Extra-Long Spline Drive Flex Ratcheting Wrench - 12mm x 14mm to get that nice extra hug on the bolt.

    • @nivekoch
      @nivekoch  10 лет назад

      Yeah thankfully the tensioner doesn't have to be tightened, it springs back into place. I do believe the older models had to be tightened though.
