  • The serpentine belt on this Altima 2.5L broke, so I printed off a belt routing diagram and grabbed a 14mm wrench. This model has a power steering pump. Il show you how to replace it.

I was struggling to get a grip on the tensioner bolt head b/c all I have is straight wrenches. Loved the additional wrench for leverage and getting past the crank pulley bolt head. Lesson for life!

Just did this job on an 08 Altima 2.5. A quick bit of advice would be to pull the coolant reservoir (10mm bolt - takes 30s). Total job including hand torquing wheels was maybe half an hour. If you have a helper, one pulling the tensioner and the other slipping the alt belt on would be easy. If alone, the best advice is to do the AC pulley last as you're closest to the tensioner (pull to the left and pull HARD till you hit the stop). I found that using a 1/4" rod with a hook bent on the end helped routing the belt also.

This video saved me from burning my garage down in mad anger. This stupid design of a belt and tentioner didnt work for me any other way than this video. I tried that stupid bolt lock on the tentioner as manuals and videos show with no luck...ive tried putting the belt on water pump last as claimed but nothing would work at all...i finally see you put it on AC compressor last and i did it in 30 seconds. I spent two hours last night trying every other possible angle. Unreal that made a huge difference. Big thanks though as this helped.

Minor, but sort of important detail, that's not a Sentra, that's an Altima

Thanks for pointing that out, for some reason I thought it was a Sentra.

How many belts does an 08 Nissan Altima have just this 1 belt total?

My belt tensioner would only move so much and with a new belt wasn't that easy to put on we had to route it the rigbt way but using the belt tensioner as the last pulley to slide it on n it was a bear in the little area under the passenger tire but eventually got it done

Yea not sure, never talked to the driver.. I believe belts on some of these Nissans get overlooked because they are more difficult to check for cracks.
