Watching Bricky who had just released several hours of lore videos cringe whenever anyone else gets the lore wrong will never not be funny to me

word bearers, use flagellants kit bits to upgrade them,
this list is incomplete you an help by expanding it
Little correction. Angron didn't put the nails in his head. That happened on his home planet that because he was used as a gladiator and the nails hurt you if you are not fighting. The nails weren't with his consents put in his head.
I like you guys a lot, but that video is quite flawed. It becomes apparent real quick, that you have little to no experience with chaos ( especially chaos marines) and you miss on a lot of key units and tricks. Please do your research better on the next "crunch and tactics" videos cuz man, that one was kinda lackluster and felt forced. For fellow spiky bois enthusiasts, a little list of important stuff you might wanna know before you start :
- all chaos marines (and their demon allies) get " Death to the false Emperor" ability, which on hit rolls of 6+ lets you do additional attacks in melee against all Imperium. You can upgrade that with Warlord, Psychic or Prayers, and a lot of the time it helps to dash out more damage.
- Tzeentch magic isnt the only good one, basic psychic for all chaos marines ( Dark Hereticus Discipline) is VERY VERY GOOD, and should be utilized a lot. Psychic phase is one of the most important phases for your army and Sorcerers are a MUST HAVE in any chaos army.
- likewise, Dark Apostles ( which are basically evil Chaplains) have awesome powers and most of the times are auto include. THEY ARE GODLIKE in Word Bearers where they get massive buffs.
- chaos thirsts for command points. Where in most of the factions stratagems are a bonus for your army, for chaos marines they are necessary for your victory, as their set of stratagems are one of the strongest of any faction. They let you do insane shit : fight twice, heal, shoot twice, reroll all wound and hit rolls, summon demons and many many more.
- there are many more chaos subfactions they didnt mention, the most important being Imperial Renegades. Those are space marine chapters that fell to chaos after heresy, many of them have their own rules and handful of them are stronger than "original" heretics ( for example : The Purge, Crimson Slaughter, Red Corsairs, Flawless Host).
- even tho Chaos Space Marines shtick is mostly melee combat, their shooting can make tau blush. Havocs, rubric marines, terminators and obliterators ( i love them so much) offer so much firepower that you can delete your enemy from the board without a hustle.
- some Chaos Space Marines legions like Iron Warriors may seem a little shitty with their trait, but dont get fooled. Each legion has a lot of great stratagems and relics that benefit a certain playstyle with an army : Iron Warriors are great at shooting down vehicles and surviving enemy firepower, Word Bearers buff dark apostles and demons to tear your enemy a new asshole in melee, Night Lords are quick and deadly, favoring units with jetpacks. If you got an idea for certain playstyle with your bois from the warp, i am sure that there is a legion/renegade warband that got you covered.
There is much more to chaos space marines than i can babble on about. I recommend Goonhammer start collecting guide to the faction to learn much more about them in detail. And remember : DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!

Red Corsairs are absolutely terrifying to play against, Raiders from the Maelstrom is absolutely frightening with the right units. Kinda sucks they weren't mentioned.
There's good information here for new players! Apologies for the lack of information on Chaos, at the time that this was streamed Chaos was pretty new to us and our main Chaos player was in Korea. Coming back to this now there's some big oof's. So if you have any information for newer players on Chaos leave some comments below!
Here are some awesome things I want to add onto Chaos Daemons that weren't mentioned (I'll only talk about Tzeentch and Slaanesh since they're the ones I know the most about. Dameki would know more about Nurgle)
Although Chaos Daemons do better as a soup whether between each other or things like KSons and CSM, they can also perform well as mono factions (mostly Slaanesh and Nurgle).
Tzeentch - Horrors are great and LoC is very good, these are probably your best and coolest looking units. LoC are ridiculously hard to kill and it's Exalted upgrades can make it harder to kill or add in more mortal wounds. Flamers and screamers are also decent pick ups and they look sick too. If you're going to run Tzeentch and want to go mono multiple LoC is a good starting point.
Slaanesh - This is the faction of the army I've been looking at and collecting since Black Friday. It was either this or Ksons with Tzeentch, which I already bought a Start Collecting of but saw my local LGS had a Keeper and decided to pick it up along with a start collecting. For Slaanesh, they love being excessive and so every one of their models are incredibly lewd (looking at you fiends). So if you're looking for models where people won't think you might be a little weird, this isn't a good faction to start out with.
Keepers of Secrets are the best unit in the army, you want to bring anywhere from 2-4 (the 4th being Shalaxi Helbane) and build around that. If you're not undivided, Keeper's get an Advance and Charge aura 6" around them. Daemonettes are good and so are Fiends. Daemonettes can get like 90+ attacks and their melee weapons have a nat -1AP with wounds on 6+ rending at -4. Fiends can lock you in combat and since you always act as if you charged, on your opponents turn they attack with 1 charged unit first and then you alternate. So you basically get a free interrupt.
I enjoy the Contorted Epitome because she also has a no fall back aura, additionally she increases your strength by 1, making your Daemonettes S4. Another good HQ's is Syll'esske. This is mostly a melee combat army, not a lot of shooting but a gross amount of melee.
For Khorne I'm still learning about them so any information below would be very helpful!
@dicecheck one thing that I was a little bit surprised that you didn't know about is the fact that khorn don't like psykers. So, no access to psykers so no warp time unfortunately XD

Something cool you can do though with NightLords are you can bring like 6 squads of 5 Chaos Marines with the Nurgle specific banner to give -1 leadership, combining that with the -1 (to a max of -3) with the NightLords legion trait you can get -9 leadership which is pretty funny. Ultramarine intercessors have leadership 0 and anyone under leadership 9 would technically have negative leadership.
You can also take the jump pack guys that get a -1 each on top of that. I play a Night Lords cheese deck, it just kinda loses to nids straight up tho.
6" of *any* units with an icon of despair get a -1 leadership. Sadly, It doesn't stack with itself.
You guys forgot to talk about Mortarion as a model when discussing Death Guard.
While i see the Chaotic reference as a blessing it also punched me in the gut and robbed 15 years from my life spam.

I love this channel but I really don't feel like the proper research was done for this video, the only guy who actually plays chaos (Dameki) wasn't even part of this video, I love chaos and this video just kind of feels like a throwaway, or one that y'all just felt like you had to do because you're running through the factions

Guys its silly how little you know about iron warriors... They are the best CSM subfaction now. They have Great stratagems for daemon engines and obliterators. Their relics and warlord tratits can make disco lord suuper tanky. Also this ability to ignore cover is really good in this edition.

I started with Death Guard... and not knowing I am pleased that they are in a good spot. Besides Death Guard in terms of models and stuff, have like the best kitbashing, homebrew models out there for Chaos as far as I'm concerned... like just making them extra gross, extra details of rust and decay? Dude that speaks to me.

Red Corsairs are one of the best "legions" to pick to play a pure Chaos Space Marine list without trekking too far into the Daemon side of things.
They have some great stratagems around standard chaos space marine units and have some great CP boosting abilities.
The Berserker theme was wonderful. Thanks for a great video, started TS, going to be fun!

I played TS on TTS for some time and finally got the Start Collecting kit a few hours ago. What a coincidence, lmao.
Also edit: You can literally paint a Noise Marine with random patterns and colors and it would still be lore friendly. Noise Marines are probably the most newbie friendly model to paint.
I'm just saying this from experience, I've never fought a chaos player that soups. But that is probably my local scene

@Matt You are totally right. The first time my dad saw my Great Unclean One model he called it a disease Buddah. Also have you seen the Foul Blightspawn's gun? 2d6str d6 auto hits and it's assault, so you can advance and still auto hit people. PLUS it's base 3 dmg -3AP. Sometimes it chokes, but sometimes it melts a tank in one round from your 70pt model.

Word Bearers are all about their HQ's. You can turn your HQ's into Demons to get buffs for your Greater Possessed and Demon models. You can automatically cast spells with your Sorcerers and your Dark Apostles can chant tons of spells or just bonk anything in its path. They are very versatile Chaos Space Marine legion.
I legit started playing Word Bearers for two reasons. 1. Found a fast and easy paint guide so was able to get through a bunch and have them look decent for the table, in time at all. 2. Just to have a pure big bad feel

If you want to play word bearers they have some psychic shenanigans and possesed buffs that add 1 damage to their melee and the ability to turn a hq into a greater possesed if needed. No idea why you would but you can.
With souping can you have 2 detachments each with seperate armies and have them do their own thing and keep their rules and strategems? and if they are both battle forged is 2cp produced a turn?
Bricky really loves his paradoxes. Tzeentch has everything planned but it's also always changing! Slaanesh is both a boy and a girl but neither at the same time! etc.
Keep in mind that thousand sons rubrics and terminators get plus 1 to their save rolls against 1 damage weapons which also increases their invulnerable save to a 4+

As a starting tsons player I am quite conflicted. At the same time I'm offended by your understanding of the lore and pleased by your admiration of the models.
If you want a better channel for lore check out the channel "major kill."
As for videos that do battle reports and stuff I highly, highly, reccomend "Play on Tabletop." Their content is really high quality and great for new players. If you need help building an army I thi k you're better off getting familiar with the rules, and rules to making a valid army, and maybe starting off at either 500 point or 1000 point army. Or you could start with kill team. Point is though get familiar with the rules so you understand how making an army works, then just choose whatever thousand sons you want whether it's cool or it fits your play style; or if it's just in your budget to get.
If you're not interested in learning the competitive meta and all that, you don't really need to worry a lot about having "the meta models" or the "good/optimal" models that this video tends to flaunt. Especially if you're starting small scale in the 500-1000 range.
Hope this helps motivate you a bit and remember, the main goal is to have fun bro!
@@demiliomason1565 Hey, thanks a lot! Yeah, I've gotten quite familiar with the lore already (that being what drew me into 40k in the first place) and that's why speaking about tsons treachery when Magnus did nothing wrong kinda hurts.
Armywise I've kinda accepted that tsons aren't too great without many demons, so I'm gonna have enough of them to have combat patrol games and go to tournaments (and when I need to beat my friends) with OG Sanguinary bois.
Watched this video more because I like supporting these lads with views and like their content than to learn about stuff (although almost every time watching these videos I learn something new). But really, thanks! This is the reason I like the Warhammer community, so far I've seen nothing but supportiveness towards new players :)

What are your thoughts on full Khorn Daemons without any chaos space marines? (also my second army I’m building right now)
Some stuff about the Word Bearers (my favorite legion).
- Lorgar was *the* first heretic as far as Primarchs go. He fell to Chaos a good 40 years before Horus and had spent that time pulling the strings to rebel against the Emperor.
- Lorgar didn’t fall because he thought the Emperor “wasn’t Emperory” enough. He fell because the Emperor viciously rebuked his worship at their temple-city Monarchia, causing Lorgar to have a crisis of faith and seek out the Dark Gods.
- Word Bearers have a garbage tier legion trait, but synergize very well with Dark Apostles and Possessed. They get special strategems and relics that buff them uniquely.
