I do that quarantine style declutter with my son but my apartment is small with little storage space to hide things so I put the stuff in the trunk of my car for a few weeks before taking it to donate. If he freaks out and realizes something is missing then I can just go get it, if he doesnt then its all ready in the car to take to donation lol. 90% of the time he never notices the forgotten toy.

I love all of your natural cleaning recipes. I make some of my own, but never would have thought of adding salt. I hate to throw you a curve ball, but steam cleaning wood floors is a huge no-no! Over time, it can/will warp them. Also, never use vinegar on wood floors because it will strip the urethane. After researching how best to clean and preserve my almost-100-year-old wood floors, I decided to use a Bona mop, together with their solution designed specifically for wood floors. Whoever refinished your wood floors did such a beautiful job that I would hate to see them messed up. (Hilary, of Old World Home, also uses a Bona mop.) Steam cleaners are great for ceramic tile floors. ❤

I don't use cleaning products on glass. I simply use a water dampened microfiber cloth to clean the glass, then a dry microfiber cloth to dry the glass. Other than smudges from children or pets, which I clean individually, I need to clean my windows less often. Any product whether it's a vinegar based or alcohol based, will leave an unseen residue which actually attracts particles to the glass. I do love using lemon juice though for goopy messes, water spots, or copper pots, and it smells nice too. Thank you for another refreshing and wholesome video. Take care of yourself. 🌻

We have 40 acres and a large Sea Can for storage of things we don't want in the house. I didn't get rid of my kids toys. Now they're all vintage and my little grandchildren are playing with them. The quality of the old toys tops what's being made now. I'm so happy I kept them.

I use vinegar for almost everything.
On occasion I’ll use soapy water for certain things.
For tougher jobs I’ll break out the baking soda.
It’s extremely rare I’ll use any sort of “cleaning product” that I have to buy aside from those simple ingredients I also use to cook, do laundry, wash hands, etc.

Your home and approach for cleaning is so relatable to me as a homeschooling family of 5 who lives on a farm in Texas. Our home just does not stay spotless because my kids and husband are constantly in and out and bringing in dirt and such. And don't get me started on the dog hair! I "enjoy" watching videos with an impossibly clean and minimal aesthetic (you know the ones. The ones that look like one actually lives there) but it leaves me feel frustrated when my home can't keep up with that standard. It is chasing something that isn't realistic and it is easy to forget that homes are there to serve US and they will get banged up and messed on in the process. It's normal for it not to be 100% spotless all the time Thanks, Lisa for showing how to you care for a REAL and BEAUTIFUL home!

Great Video Lisa, I clean homes ( tho on break due to major surgery). I do use some more harsh chemicals and have been researching more natural products during my recovery . I like the essential oils and have just started using them. A big fan!! So when I am able, I will try some of your recipes for my own home. Dawn is awesome... I started minimizing in 2019. Not as far as Dawn. I believe that a house should feel like a home and look loved. Special objects still remain. But clutter is gone and it brings that sense of relief. 10 minute tidy is always possible.
Your home is basically my dream home. So thank you for what you share with us.

Guys please do not misuse himalayan salt this way.. it is mined out of earth and it is high in minifals that we need ourself. It is a million years old miniral, once they mine it all there in more himalayan pink salt! You can buy a table salt for your scrabing needs or a baking soda.

Hi Lisa. Enjoyed the video. I have a quick question...when adding an essential oil to a cleaning mixture, does it leave an oily feel to whatever it is you’re cleaning?

A good quality essential oil will never leave an oily residue after it evaporates. You could pour it on a silk blouse and you shouldn't be able to tell after it dries.
