OH MY GOSH. I have been laying in bed, procrastinating, waiting for all of my motivation to load, because I wanted to deep clean the bedroom today (after being sick for a week). I was planning on listening to the Minimal Mom while cleaning, but the fact that this is what she posted just 14 minutes ago means I HAVE to do the bedroom deep clean because the timing is too spot on lol.
Okay I hqve been listening to Dawn’s playlist while I work in the garage! Then at lunch break I found this new video. Thanks….. our garage was taken over by my husband fie woodworking and just got to be a mess. Welllll thanks to my decluttering with Dawn after 6 yrs he told me he was ready to declutter his stuff! The VA volunteers came to get truck loads of table power tools and now he wants to sort hand tools l!! All because he has watched me and I have been patient. Thank you
It’s just so wonderful that you are cleaning your mom’s oven. ❤ I’m sure she is so thankful to have a daughter that lives nearby and takes care of her in this way!
For years, when my mom cleaned her oven, she put a newspaper flat in a trash bag. She put in one rack and sprayed oven cleaner on the rack. Then, another layer of newspaper the other rack, spray oven cleaner and another layer of newspaper. She would do this first thing in the morning. She would take it to the bathtub late afternoon and wash them. She had the cleanest oven ever!
Magic eraser with a little bit of all purpose cleaner will make brass cabinet pulls shiny and eliminate water marks 👍 Love the minimal mom! I’ve been listening for a couple of years now and my house has very little clutter! Still working to get rid of the last 10% of stubborn clutter. The tough decisions! Thanks for the motivation!
I am loving watching you declutter/organize/clean your parent’s house! I think it’s hard to get a grasp on minimalism while looking at someone’s house that is already minimal. Great idea to start in a home “filled” with love, and needing TLC. I’d love for this to be a series! I have been a minimalist for a few years now, but definitely love watching the room transformations, and getting ideas on how to help my parents and friends start their journey. Plus maybe even some idea for my own home.
Maybe someone mentioned this for the fridge, but if not....this is a gamechanger. I found some plastic bins the width of a condiment jar and as deep as my fridge. And one twice as wide. I have three on my top shelf and I organize my condiments in them. One is for mustards. mayo and relishes (we have like 6 kinds of mustard we use for different things). An Asian themed one: fish sauce, tamari, miso, ssamjang, gojuchang, chili crisp, yuzu, ponzu, sesame oil...we eat alot of Asian food). And a salsa, hot sauce one. It is so easy now to just pull out the right bin and pull what you need from it. No more rearranging several jars to get to the jar at the back.
I use the lift-our door pockets for every day condiments! You can take them right to the counter/table! 😅 (I think that was another great tip from Cas/Clutterbug) ... But I do have skinny drawer organiser type containers in my fridge for spreads (jam/"jelly" etc), pickles (vegetables and chutney/relish), and nuts&seeds (those packets were a nightmare falling over before!)
Yes, I use bins as mini-drawers for each category of food - so easy to take out each one when it's time to wipe down the shelves! I do this in the freezer too and also for corner cabinets. Another thing I do for deep corner cabinets is store my Christmas dishes and other lesser-used stuff on cookie sheets, pull them out when it's time to use them, and stack them back on the tray when it's time to put everything back..
I tried to implement this in my fridge -- husband hated having to pull a bin out, then pull out the condiment he wanted. He felt like it doubled the effort so had to do away with it.
Great tips. Thanks Dawn. P.S. Your parents are troopers for letting you show your huge audience their messes. Of course, they get a free cleaning job out of it. ❤
@@cathycoryell2351It's probably because the dirt comes from the outside and mostly stays on the outside of the screen. So blowing it from the inside to the outside makes sense. I have never thought of that.
Great video with lots of good tips once again! TIP: Baking Soda dispenser, get a small mason jar, and add an old Parmesan Cheese lid, You can use that to Sprinkle on the baking soda! I found a cute colored mason jar...and keep it by my kitchen sink. I use it at least once a week to scrub my sink. I got the this from clean mama...add essential oils if desired to baking soda, sprinkle it on sink add some dish soap. Let soak a few minutes and scrub then rinse well. I have a white sink and it shines right up and smells great.
You can make your own "power wash" for cheaper if you want. Put 4 tablespoons blue dawn and 2 tablespoons 91% rubbing alcohol in a spay bottle and fill with water. Its not a foam but works just as well. I add extra rubbing alcohol for extra umph sometimes.
I got a new oven this year. Yay! All sparkly & new! Now it's easy to wipe it down often & not let it get built up. As far as the fridge goes, I take a few minutes each week & check the food & do a little wipe down. For the microwave, I simply boil water in it & it fills with steam & then I just wipe it down. Presto! No products needed! I'm good @ little tasks, not big jobs :)
For that ring on the glasstop stove, try really saturating a rag in vinegar and placing the rag over the affected area overnight. In the morning, mix in a little baking soda and scrub and use your razor blade tool. It still takes elbow grease, but the long soak with vinegar seems to loosen the bond of the mineralized ring with the stovetop.
The blue ceiling fan duster is amazing. I used it in my whole house - cobwebs, baseboards, walls, windows, sills and screens - great for hard to reach places. I couldn't believe how clean it came. Well worth the price!
I was cleaning my refrigerator right before it's time to grocery shop so that it's almost empty. That way I don't even need the bin but it is a very good idea
So I've been watching/listening to your videos for a while, especially while I clean and declutter(mirroring totally works for me😉). I really enjoy your encouragement and tips and ideas. Even the ones that don't work for me. Anyway the other day I walked into my messy room to grab something turned on the light and said "too much inventory" 😂 and walked away. So my current goal is reducing inventory and your right it definitely gets easier as you go. Safe to say I'm a convert. Thank you Dawn 😘
The oven cleaning function is so good! When we moved it to our new house the oven was gross and we used the cleaning funtion on the oven and it truns all the gunk into ash, the oven came so clean. I was so impressed.
I actually love the oven cleaning function - but a good friend of mine works for a national appliance repair company and he says to never use that function because it gets the oven so hot that it can and often does overheat the "motherboard" which is the computer for an oven. I've not used that function since.
@@dsmith9796also releases toxins into the air as it burns the dirt off. 😢I don't use mine and I ask people to please not use the self clean function around me. I clean houses and some people just insist on doing that while I'm there!
@@dsmith9796mines been broken for months because my friend blew the mother board, her husband replaced it, she used the self cleaning function immediately for some reason, fried the motherboard again. Now I live here and it’s still broken
I used to be a housekeeper. I soaked filthy oven racks in plastic bags with ammonia poured in. Left them outside overnight. The dirt fell off in a utility sink the next day.
I do the same with Easy Off instead of ammonia. I get the fume-free one and it works wonders in just a couple of hours of spraying my oven racks and gas stove racks and closing them up in a trash bag.
How sweet to clean your mom's oven, bet she was thrilled :D. My parents are in their 80s and live 350 miles away so I don't see them as much as I'd like to, but when I was home last month I deep cleaned their fridge. For a week my mom kept texting me "every time I open the fridge, I smile, thank you!" 🙂
What a sweet daughter. I bet this was the very best gift ever! I did it once for my parents and my mom cried. I’m sure every day your parents walked around in their home they were smiling! ❤❤❤
I clean my screens with just a water dampened microfiber cloth. I leave them in the windows. It works well for me. Some You Tube guy suggested it and it saves so much work.
SO much knowledge here! I have not read 399 comments, so this may have been mentioned so sorry if I am repeating. Norwex has an amazing oven cleaner and I have never noticed noxious fumes at all. Pricey but does the trick every time! Might be good for Dawn's house with Gage's allergies, or anyone out there who is more sensitive to fumes.
For cleaning oven racks, lay them on a black garbage bag outside, spray thoroughly with oven cleaner (yellow cap-contains lye) generic brand will do. Turn the bag inside out so your rack is inside the bag completely and close it up (tuck the opening under). Let sit in the sun for 24 hours then rinse off. The oven cleaner does not harm the bag at all. You can use a green scrubber or steel wool to clean it off (outside with a hose). Works so good! Also this works when you need to strip gunk off a cast iron skillet.
I put oven racks and grill racks in a garbage bag with a cup of cheap ammonia from the dollar store . Tie the top and let it sit all night , then rinse with water hose …. Cleans really good
When you mentioned cleaning grill racks, I’m hoping you’re referring to very dirty grill racks. My husband doesn’t worry about cleaning them, and I wasn’t sure what to use to clean them. Thanks for the suggestion!
For years...since the 1980s.....bring racks to garage, spray with Easy-Off, put racks in heavy-duty garbage bags, twist tie, sit overnight, rinse racks in the morning, Voila! Brand new racks without breaking a sweat. 🙂
@@dianasimplifiesPlus, using the self cleaning mode has been known to overheat the circuit boards in modern ovens. Once you start the self cleaning cycle, the oven controls lock down, so you can’t turn it off. After reading horror stories about expensive circuit board repairs and fires caused by using the self cleaning function, I wouldn’t dare risk it!
Cleaning the frig - the game changer for me was buying/using the clear plastic refrigerator bins (great prices and selection at TJ Maxx). The bins capture crumbs and spills and are super easy to rinse off when necessary.. No more dirty shelfs. I sort my food into the bins and can easily pull out a bin to look thru.
I use rectangle plastic baskets from the 99 Cent store. They have wide slots, so food stays cool. I even use them in the freezer, 1 for chicken, 1 for seafood.
Dawn, you’re so cute! You’re such an inspiration. What works best for me with my refrigerator is using Just dollar store trays plastic ones that actually fit on my shelf smaller ones. I lineup three across. I have a very big fridge. They’re not big trays, but they’ll fit about six pickle size jars on them maybe five depending And when my tray is too full and I can’t fit something on it that means it’s time to get rid of something. Also something spells it only spills in the tray so I just clean out a tray at a time as it needs it my fridge has stayed clean ever since I started doing this with little effortback to the video.
I had been contemplating how to clean the ceiling fan over our bed when I saw your video. Ordered the blade mop. I did the ceiling fan in the living room. Worked so well that I moved to bedroom. It was great. Did walls because fall in the Midwest is the invasion of spiders moving indoors and their webs. The mop is a Good recommendation I have been using the oven liners for about 7 years. Game changer.
Hi!!! I put our oven racks in our bathtub, soaking overnight, using Dawn dish soap and hot water. Scrub in the morning. I use a brand new toilet scrubber, it works SO well!! ❤️
I’m sure someone else has mentioned this, but my big game changer for the oven was buying oven liners, think black non stick flexible sheets that live at the very bottom of the oven that catch any fallen debris, you can then pull them out and wipe them and never get baked on anything. Well on the bottom, still have to clean the door, doh! X
@@SueHarrison-kl1rv I got those too but there are others ones that don’t and they’re a game changer!!! The brand I use is Nor Pro oven liner. You can cut to size. Good luck.
Thank you for the time and effort you put into your vids... thank you to your mom for letting us into her kitchen as well. Her oven and mine are twins... now I'm motivated to tackle mine. ❤ 💪 😊
I love love love how you showed to get grime off of wood finishes. Just recently I noticed the had rails of my foyer stairs were dark. I’m so excited to try this trick to clean the wood surface, that’s been darkened by hands running along it for years. Thank you so much! I plan to do a deep clean of my home this Saturday so this is right on time!
Hi Dawn, so so so glad I watched this video. I’m sweating right now, but you inspired me to get out my new (only used once, just purchased) O’Cedar mop and bucket to wipe down all of the wood doors in our home. I’ve been wanting to do this for so long, but just don’t have the arm strength to wash by hand. The damp mop was the way to go!! I then switched mop heads and mopped the floors. 🥳🥳
I just got the blue duster. Game changer! I'm in the mist of coming out of some major family health issues, getting older, and family deaths and frankly a pretty serious depression although I really didn't know it. The decluttering is such a slow process for me and and honestly I've been trying to get my bedroom in order for 2+ years (very little progress). I'm just doing a little at a time where I can and trying to work with myself where I am. 🤷🏼♀️
Great and useful video. Thanks! Regarding the fridge, I also have to store jars in the main area, not just the door. For the condiments, I use sturdy open plastic bins that are easy to pull out. It's also really handy when we have guests to be able to just pull out the bin and move it to the table or outside. Same for salad dressings. I use bins for other "collections" of smaller items, too, like "soft dairy" like sour cream, cottage cheese, yogurt... Another with sandwich stuff of packages of lunchmeat and cheese. You get the idea. Each container is labeled, so everyone can easily find what they want, and can easily put it back where it belongs! Yay!
Yes, I used Cass' suggestion of doing shelf by shelf and using a box to empty that shelf. Couldn't believe what was tucked in the back of the lower shelf. Cleared out so much and found some gems that will be now eaten.
I try to stick to the cleaners without all the chemicals but something that will work for that ring on your flat top stove is the heavy duty scouring stick! I was so afraid it would scratch it but it didn't! Love it!!
One hack for the oven is to put on whatever cleaner you have, cover it with seran wrap, and leave it for at least an hour, but it's best overnight. I've seen videos where it repeatedly comes off like a liquid- so easy!
@@TheMinimalMom if it works for Mack of "Midwest Magic Cleaning" channel (who regularly cleans hoarder houses and ran a paid cleaning business before) then I'd definitely do it if needed! ... Thankfully Pink stuff paste and a Scrub Daddy is all I have to use a couple of times per year on mine though, as I don't bake or roast often 😅
Yes. I have seen a professional cleaner on RUclips who does this. She doesn’t warm the oven first. She leaves it on overnight or for several hours. It just wipes straight off. She also uses this technique on really dirty stovetops. This technique might work for Dawns pesky stovetop ring.
@@TheMinimalMomthe easy off with plastic wrap really works. I did it for the first time a few months ago. Also, I put the oven racks in the tub, filled it with hot water and Dawn soap and covered them with dryer sheets. (I saw this online). I let it sit for a few hours, and that worked also! I used the dryer sheets to wipe off the racks. I have no idea how this works haha
For the glass stove top, I recommend scrub daddy's power paste. Wet a scrub mommy with warm water, use the soft side to get the paste and rub it on, let it sit for like 5 minutes, and then wipe it off. My glass top stove comes clean every time! For inside the stove, spray with the oven cleaner and then cover it with cling wrap. It keeps the oven cleaner moist and you can let it sit for several hours if your oven is really caked. No heating of the oven needed!
We have a great green lady here in the UK - Nancy Birtwistle. Her trick for oven trays is to leave them outside overnight on grass. It's something in the dew.
I'll have to look her up! (Fellow Brit here). Thank you 😊 I also recommend RemiClog for lovely cleaning videos with ND/mental health voiceovers, for anyone wanting UK creators. Mack from Midwest Magic Cleaning even gave her a shout-out a while back 🤩
Now that you mention that thing about dew, I recall a trick to get grass stains out of jeans by hanging them outside over night (unwashed). Something in the dew.
Love the pillows & flowers in the living room! Pretty in pink. Thanks for the encouragement and inspiration. Fall cleaning is in the works, folded in with painting some of our rooms, and repairing some old windows before winter. It's more fun & less of a drag when we are "cleaning like a monk." Getting in the cleaning Zen zone.
My mom suggested I use the Dawn Power Wash. I held out for a while because I didn't want to spend the money. I caved one day and bought it and haven't looked back since! It's a great product! It works and is so convenient! Also, Dawn, you should get sponsored by Dawn!!! 😊
You can find the recipe to fill that expensive power wash bottle using regular dawn soap. 4tblsp of blue dawn, 2 tbsp of rubbing alcohol. Have been reusing same bottle for year now and it works great and way more affordable.
I put clear bins and trays in my frig both to organize it and contain any leaks/spills. Much easier to wash a bin in the sink than the whole shelf and sometimes lower shelves that were dripped on.
Did you hear about the hack of putting your oven shelves outside on the grass over night.. something in the morning dew really cuts into those baked on shelves. I tried it.. it works! I didn’t have to work hard to clean them.
I use garbage bags underneath the stove grids outside. Oven cleaner sprayed on them in the garden. Both sides. Cover with two more bags. Check in morning. Rinse with hosepipe. Perfect no scrubbing.
They make oven Teflon liners that can slide underneath the oven element. You pull it out when it gets dirty and hand wash it, then slide it back under the element. Its wonderful, you should get your mom's oven one.
Yes, i always put the oven racks and the burner plates in a trash bag outside. Spray with the Easy Off (other brands arent as good as easy off) and keave outside overnight. Then the next morning use a brush to scrub it, then hose it off on the gravel. Then you can take it inside and use soapy water to clean it real good. Sometimes depending on how bad it is i have to do it twice.
I make DIY power wash for 10% of the cost! Dish soap, alcohol, a little rinse aid and mostly hot water in a stainless steel or glass spray bottle - less than $.50 a bottle. I use it for everything!
I do this, too. There are a few variants of the recipe. I go with dish soap, alcohol, water. I think part of the powerwash "magic" is the continuous spray so I just reuse the original bottle I got and refill it.
@@candacerushing6882washing dishes, mcounters, sinks, tubs, toilets. Spot cleaning hard floors. Spot treatment on laundry , tho it may not be perfect on all stains. Power-wash can be used for many things. I personally would not use it on carpet, unless you have machine to get all the soap out. Windows would require alot of rinsing, so maybe not windows either.
Im so glad to see the authentic content you always provide!! No ones house is spotless all the time (and with kids....its more along the lines of NEVER!) THANK YOU!!
My o cedar clean rinse spin mop is the only mop that doesn't leave my kitchen/dining area floor looking dull. I've tried spray mop, sponge mop, twist mop, string mop... only to have my floor still looking like it needs to be mopped. I knew the problem had to be the mop, because my floor looked fine when I got down and did it by hand. I was worried I was just throwing away more money, but thankfully it worked out for me. I'm glad I finally gave the o cedar spon mop system a try. I bought extra heads. They wash up fine in the washer.
This couldn’t be more perfect! I’m deep cleaning our kitchen for the second time since we moved last year. The oven, front of cabinets, inside everything needs a good scrub or wipe down. Saving this so you can save me time this weekend!
Dawn the first video I watched of yours was the one where you t OK apart your oven and Tom had to come help put it back together. I also tried the open cleaner on my stove top after you tried it on your mom's and it worked! I had a jam boil over years ago. I was so happy to see it clean.
I commented on your last faucet cleaning video but I’ll comment again!! 😂 the aerator unscrews!! That gross part comes right off and there is stuff inside that beads cleaned and cleared out. It’s very satisfying!!
Eco friendly way to deep clean the oven: put lemon slices in an oven tray with a small amount of water in it. Squeeze some extra lemon juice in it and heat the oven for 10 minutes or so on high temperature, so the lemon bits evaporate. It will help to soak all the dirt. It's easy to clean afterwards.
Thanks Minimal Mom! You help me realize that my home can be much cleaner by cleaning one bit at a time. I feel accomplished when evern the smallest of chores are done & or are in progress. Enjoy cooler weather this fall.
For the oven racks- dump a 2 liter bottle of coke a cola in the bath tub and put them in to soak a few hours. It does the work for you. Overnight if really bad.
Your mom's oven looks amazing. I had to clean my dad's oven when he was moving to a retirement community and it looked worse than that! I went for the chemicals and was surprised how easy the grime came off. I use a piece of heave duty foil laid in the bottom of my oven, so when something spills on it, I can easily put in a new piece.
You can buy a silicon oven mat for the oven floor - it keeps the bottom of the oven clean, lasts for a really long time and they are cheap - got mine at Walmart.
Fun video Dawn! My fridge is definitely due for a cleaning! Once I started using those clear containers in my fridge, it has really cut down on the clutter. Plus I could just pull the containers out to clean a shelf. I leave plenty of space without containers for storing leftovers and odd shaped items so it's not completely full of containers. My favorite ones are the 2 clear lazy susans on the top shelf, which hold jarred items such as pickles, olives, and spreads. I will say that on trash day I do a quick once-over for expired things and produce past its prime.
I just saw the a post the other day where someone put a scrub daddy in the middle of their mop. Fits right inside the triangle. I thought it was a clever idea.
I'm a housekeeper 5 days a week and I HATE deep cleaning my house. Every day, either when I'm doing the dishes or making my oatmeal in the microwave, I clean one refrigerator shelf. I kinda like to do a little extra on Sundays, so I clean out any food that didn't get eaten or is not going to. It makes me happy to open my fridge.
Just want to say thank you for sharing your mom’s oven, I was feeling like such a failure because mine has been the same actually worse for about a year now. So I will be tackling that this afternoon
That blue duster for fans is one of the best products I have ever bought. AFter buying telescopic pole dusters, including swifter, this one is hands down the best. I can reach high areas without the head flopping and it really grabs alot of the dust. Thank you for the recommendation.
Screens usually get washed while on the window, with the garden hose or bucķet of warm soapy water and a soft broom. In Australia, our fly screens are generally on the outside, and MUCH MORE brown and yuck from dust and windblown road grime pollen and just dirt.
I'm in the USA. Most of my screens are on the outside and I also wash them with the garden hose but I have a sunroom with 16 windows, screens all on the inside - I take them outside to clean with the garden hose twice a year, spring & fall.
I use a shelf liner in my refrigerator, so I can clean the liners rather than the shelves. Also, I have some long containers that I use on a couple of shlves. I stack my jars in the container. I can easily partially pull out the container to get to the jar that I need. Thank you for your cleaning channel! I clean while I'm watching you clean.
My tried and true for more years than I want to admit is putting oven racks in plastic trash bag, pour ammonia into the bag, tie it up and let it sit for a couple hours. Open it carefully so the fumes don’t get you, glove up before pulling the racks out and spray off with plain water. There may be a few spots that need to be wiped off but nothing that requires elbow grease. Not fancy but certainly easy as long as you have a few hours to let the ammonia work. BTW, I do this outside so I don’t have to deal with the fumes in the house. Lynn
this is what I have always done too. a squirt of dish soap and Ammonia is cheap and effective. I put the bag with the racks and ammonia in me side yard for a day and then rinse with the garden hose. The ammonia doesnt eat through the bag
I clean my oven racks by putting ammonia in a black heavy duty trash bag. Put in the racks, tie the bags closed, and set them out in the sun on the patio for the day. Even thick baked on crud crumbles right off.
Yes, this is what I was going to suggest. Ammonia vapor is powerful though so be sure to stand back when pouring it and when opening the bag the next day.

I use these kind of containers in my cabinets!
I tried to implement this in my fridge -- husband hated having to pull a bin out, then pull out the condiment he wanted. He felt like it doubled the effort so had to do away with it.
@@reneegagnier3226 Same with my husband!
Great tips. Thanks Dawn.
P.S. Your parents are troopers for letting you show your huge audience their messes.
Of course, they get a free cleaning job out of it. ❤
My parents are seriously the two coolest people in the entire world ❤❤❤
Agree. Thank them from me too.
For screens, we open our windows and use a blower (inside), to remove dust. Works like a charm!
The dust does not get stuck in the screen?! I am having trouble visualization the dust blowing out a screen window.
Your positive and down to earth personality makes deep cleaning a pleasure!🥰
I honestly subscribed to you because you're so genuinely happy and it's refreshing to listen to you.
Same here! 😊
There is no judgment in this circle!! Thank you for sharing your tips!!
It still takes elbow grease, but the long soak with vinegar seems to loosen the bond of the mineralized ring with the stovetop.
abenaqui cleaner works great and is envro safe
@dezo729 I've never used it, but it looks similar to Pink Stuff. How is it different?
Pop an old towel, some rolled up rags, or something similar in your bathtub so the screens don't scratch the surface.
The blue ceiling fan duster is amazing. I used it in my whole house - cobwebs, baseboards, walls, windows, sills and screens - great for hard to reach places. I couldn't believe how clean it came. Well worth the price!
What is the name of the duster? Thanks

I was cleaning my refrigerator right before it's time to grocery shop so that it's almost empty. That way I don't even need the bin but it is a very good idea
I also try to use us as much food as possible in the fridge a day or two before I clean it - yes, definitely before I grocery shop.
Yes, I do this as well, saves so much time!

Dawn, after doing your mom's woodwork, you can polish it with Liquid Gold. It makes the woodwork look new and fresh!
I used to be a housekeeper. I soaked filthy oven racks in plastic bags with ammonia poured in. Left them outside overnight. The dirt fell off in a utility sink the next day.
Also great for stove grates!
Me too on using the ammonia. It works great.
I clean the oven overnight with the ammonia method. It works.
For a week my mom kept texting me "every time I open the fridge, I smile, thank you!" 🙂
You gave your Mom a gift.
❤
You’re the best!
What a sweet daughter. I bet this was the very best gift ever! I did it once for my parents and my mom cried. I’m sure every day your parents walked around in their home they were smiling! ❤❤❤
That is like gold!
All the horrible chemicals though!! 😢😢😢
@@0570dev True. That's why it's out in the garage. And only done once in a blue moon
Me too 1980’s
@@0570devyes but the actual self cleaning of the oven is very toxic so I prefer this lady's way of doing it in the garage.
Yes, great for gross meat too. I can’t stand my meat touching fruit, etc.
I agree, the black flexible oven mats are terrific. I bought 2 boxes so I am prepared for many, many years. Wow.
Yes! So much easier. An appliance repair guy told me to use that and I had never heard of them before. I was so grateful for the tip.
Mine melted!

Thank you for the time and effort you put into your vids... thank you to your mom for letting us into her kitchen as well. Her oven and mine are twins... now I'm motivated to tackle mine. ❤ 💪 😊
I've been using the sponge/scrubber that holds liquid soap it it's handle WHILE I'm in the shower to clean the shower.
A copper coin will also remove limescale from taps and faucets. Just rub it over the affected area and it leaves no scratches! 👍🏻
I leave a sheet of aluminum foil on the bottom of my oven, and change it out when it gets too grody. There’s oven liners you can buy too of course🙂
If your oven heats from the bottom under the shelf, aluminum foil will permanently adhere to the surface. I learned the hard way.
That oven transformation is 10/10 😊
Why thank you!!!!! 🥰
Ok! I need to try this! I can see how the Saran Wrap would keep it from drying out, I felt like the cleaner was drying while it was sitting!
THIS!!! aurikatriina here on RUclips taught me this and it works so well!!!
Really!?! I need to try that!!!!
I'll have to look her up! (Fellow Brit here). Thank you 😊
I also recommend RemiClog for lovely cleaning videos with ND/mental health voiceovers, for anyone wanting UK creators. Mack from Midwest Magic Cleaning even gave her a shout-out a while back 🤩

I bet that ceiling fan duster would work real well at dusting the top of the fridge
@joannelamoureux9729 thank you for sharing!
I've bought the pumice stones for ovens and they CLEAN LIKE A CHARM!!
My MIL is coming next month, this is very timely! Looking forward to the tips. :D
I also love metal scrub pads and SOS pads for somethings.
I put clear bins and trays in my frig both to organize it and contain any leaks/spills. Much easier to wash a bin in the sink than the whole shelf and sometimes lower shelves that were dripped on.
Wow! Never thought of it that way...easier to clean the bin vs. the fridge! I like that idea!
In addition to whatever product you use to clean your oven, using a razor scraper blade for the tough spots has been a huge time saver!
Thanks, Dawn! You motivated me… my oven is so clean now!!! And thanks to your parents for allowing us to peak in their home! ❤
They make oven Teflon liners that can slide underneath the oven element. You pull it out when it gets dirty and hand wash it, then slide it back under the element. Its wonderful, you should get your mom's oven one.
You can also line the bottom of the oven with extra wide aluminum foil (found at Walmart), then you can just toss it!!
@@amandadavis5658you can't line the new ovens with foil. It will stick to the bottom and you will never get it off.
@@karenc353 this depends on your oven model. If you have vents on the bottom, you don't want to block them.

I have recently put regular dawn & water in my powerwash to save money and it’s still effective!
Adding some isopropyl alcohol will increase the quick clean effect, more like the original powerwash.

The only thing Coke is really good for, definitely not fit for human consumption!😆

@@dsmith9796 I tried that once, it was harder to clean than I’d hoped. With foil, when there’s a spill I can easily change it without cleaning.🙂
I recently used Cif on the glass stove top, and it worked like a charm. Hardly any effort. Perfectly clean and shiny!
I think doing a little each day and doing things as you go makes it so much easier.
Just want to say thank you for sharing your mom’s oven, I was feeling like such a failure because mine has been the same actually worse for about a year now. So I will be tackling that this afternoon
Soak those oven grates in the bathtub with hot water and oxy-clean. After a few hours or overnight it rinses clean and shiny. Magical !
Lynn
Same ! Works like a charm ...
this is what I have always done too. a squirt of dish soap and Ammonia is cheap and effective. I put the bag with the racks and ammonia in me side yard for a day and then rinse with the garden hose. The ammonia doesnt eat through the bag
So helpful!!! I value your perspective and honesty on not selling gimmicks SO much!!
Wow, the tray in a bag approach actually sounds great! ✨
Makes a lot of sense. I'll try that.
