I think one of the greatest disservice a parent does is to not teach their children to work in the home. It’s a privilege to live in a family that lifts the load for each other. One day they will leave knowing how to care for a home and themselves. Grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, yard work, basic auto maintenance are all part of training children to be profitable citizens.
Yes, I couldn’t agree more! My husband I both weren’t taught/raised in a “working” functional home and had a huge learning curve when we got married. I love that we have the opportunity to teach our kids now!
She will not have to worry for them when they will be on their own one day and she is helping her futur daughter in laws and son in laws … seeing how they were raised will help all her kids to be an example for their children later and life goes on … good loving home!!
I feel like I failed this job with the 3 kids only being 18 months apart from another, it was easier to just do it myself - BUT I want to change this. They are still young. Where to start? Any tipps?
@@sylviaknoll6467 i suppose it xill be hard to begin depending their age..showing them how to bake cookies.. or dressing a pizza.. how to cook eggs.. specially being careful not yo burn themselves.. make them eat what they bake.. helping in anyway they can.. if you have a man in the house he could show them how to plant flowers just one step to planting vegetables.. well for sewing.. or knitting like making a muffler or a scarf .. not forgetting to play once in a while.. 😉
I quit my job almost a year ago to be a full time SAHM to 3 kids 5 and under. I was very good at my job and have struggled with overwhelm, thought I was just really bad at being a SAHM, and nothing is ever done. Thank you for your tips and the encouragement; just like it took me years to master my job, it will take time to develop my homemaking skills.
I only have 2 children, but I do laundry daily because I have a hereditary bedwetter that has his laundry pile up. It's getting better slowly, but it gets overwhelming if I don't.
I am such an overwhelmed woman. I work full time, I am in school full time, I have 9 children, and I am just simply stretched too thin. Ideally Id love to let my full time job go but realistically the only thing that can go is the schooling. However, I took that on so that in a few years I can work a position that is better suited for my family. So for now I am struggling, I am overwhelmed, I am tired, but this is just a season and I have to keep reminding myself of that.
Me too….even washing pots utensils as I go along. My husband is my “nightmare” when he cooks 😜. If he has to take something out/down to get to something else, he LEAVES IT OUT. If he cooks three things, there are 3 dirty spoons out. Even the spices, etc he uses are left out after added. The benefits of not having to cook are completely negated by the 35 minute post diner cleanup 😉
@Phyllisann Godfrey 😂 Exactly! It's such a pleasure to sit back while he cleans - until I walk into the kitchen afterward to find half of our kitchenware has been used and left out, with food stuck or burnt on at least two pans. 😢🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
I am an older housekeeper. I loved this video, the points, your wisdom for younger women, your encouragement. I can agree with every point, and have lived them over the course of years. I applaud you for this friendly presentation for young homemakers!
This is such a refreshing perspective in our day's current culture of mom's constantly complaining about the "mental load" of motherhood. Embrace it! Establish habits! There's no end in sight, but you settle into your own rhythms and there's so much joy there. Thank you! Wish I had this when I first became a homemaker.
I never heard any woman in my day complain of not having enough "me" time or being overwhelmed. Sure, most of us can get overwhelmed with multiple children in the home but when you stop and think about how those children came to be you realize that you were the one who made that child. Just a lot of entitlement and lack of sacredness in our society.
Yes when I got into a good routine it got much easier. Did you not feel like you needed time to yourself when your child was a baby? I need a little bit but I think once she is older and more independent and not waking up to nurse at night I won't.
I think it's partly because first time mothers are expected to automatically be behaving and on top of stuff like seasoned mothers. We compare the first time stressed parent who isn't sure if their baby is having a seisure or just needs to burp with a mom who already does things on autopilot, has optimized her house, her routines. We compare young parents who still have long ways to grow with seasoned couples who have learned how to accept and let go. Being a parent and understanding children takes skill and once you have it it's like retaking a test for the same subject over and over. You do have to brush off and update your knowledge but the first few times were the hardest. And then we make the young ones feel like whatever they do is never good enough because look, that mom of 5 can not only do all of this easily but also works from home and homeschools and has a garden etc. The husbands also have to learn how to help and pitch in and adopt these habits. Helping husbands quickly learn to embrace things that make cleaning or cooking easier (like robotic vacuums or certain cooking utensils) so there's less internal arguments about how the house is ran. Men tend to like the same things in the same place but with an everchanging home that flows this is not quite realistic and again them adopting this mindset frees up the space for optimizing. Lastly, USA is excessive in pushing individual carreers above families and making having a family either only for the priviledged rich or an unrealistic burden. Sending women back to work a month after birth is bonkers.
@@braria9855 Becoming a mother starts in the formative years. Playing with dolls ( do girls even play house or with dolls anymore? Other than hooker fashioned dolls like "bratz"? ) The same for boys. Becoming a parent starts long before adulthood and when children are left to parent themselves while mom and dad are at work then those future parenting skills are not developed. Yes, women have been brainwashed to have a "career" when being a mother is the greatest career on Earth. It has been demeaned, marginalized and demoralized.
Your last point is so true. Homemaking is a never ending/never fully done job. Accepting that and continuing on with it the best you can really is the best mindset to have.
Just a quick thank you. Most of the homesteader/homemaker accounts I've come across on youtube and instagram completely ignore working moms. We are homemakers too! We just also work elsewhere in addition to being homemakers. I appreciate that you mentioned mothers who work at the beginning of your video. Being a homemaker is about the love and feelings you create in your home, not just the amount of hours you're in your home. I wish more of these accounts would acknowledge that! (And yes, I also wish more accounts in general acknowledged the financial contribution of mothers who do not work for pay)
True and when working outside the home, you pull double duty! I too worked outside the home for 4 years while my kids were in middle school and in sports and band. There were days when I didn't have it all together, but that's okay. Kids pitch in when they know how and that is such a blessing. Hats off to all Mom's and those that work outside the home as well!
They probably don’t talk about it as much because It’s a bit different when you’re a full time homemaker. Your home is on 24/7, for example you’re the one tending to your children 24/7, not split up by someone else tending to them too for half the day. That’s a HUGE difference. Their financial contribution is the work they do inside of their home and not paying for childcare. You can’t understand their lifestyle completely because you don’t do the same things they do.. and same with them. One isn’t more right, it’s just the lifestyle that you chose! My advice would be to stop watching channels that don’t share your lifestyle and then being frustrated they don’t talk about your situation and try to find bloggers who do share your lifestyle. Might help you find the validation that you’re looking for.
I’ve always struggled with there never being an end to house work. Thanks for acknowledging it’s never done and that there really is no magic solution to a clean home. Just habits that can help make it easier.
You’re doing the Lord’s work sharing this with all of us. As a homemaker, I appreciate all of your content and you truly have helped me on my journey to loving my home & ministering to my family.
“Where there are no oxen, the stable will be clean” I remind myself of that verse often, because I think that the people in my life are far more important than keeping everything perfect in our house, it will only be clean when no one lives there, and that is not what I want. What I want is to have everyone home, enjoying life and a meal together
Hi!! Soon to be first time mom and 24 year old. I didn’t grow up in a household that fostered really any housekeeping skill and this video has helped me so much. I will say cleaning while cooking is the hardest thing for me to do but your tips are so practical!!! Thank you
I work full time but love catching on on homemaking at the weekend. I love to cook and bake for me and my husband, long walks with the dog, projects in the house and garden.
Thank you for a great video! Im a homemaker, homeschooling momma of 8(almost 9) kiddos under 11 years. I had noone to help teach me and I'm still working on habits to make the house cleaner and functional.
Thank you so much! I’ll be a stay at home, homemaking/homeschooling mom once our first baby is born in September. Once I’m done working, I can’t wait to figure out those rhythms of making our home more beautiful and not neglect it. Homemaking is a constant verb, so I’m glad you brought up that “it will never be completely done, just have to keep going”
Congratulations!! A tiny piece of advice from a mama who did the same thing as you’re planning… stop working NOW! Establish some routines over the next few months before baby comes! I have always wish I did this instead of wait until the baby was born. Many blessings for a happy and healthy delivery. 💛🙏🏼
As a home schooling mom of a 7 year old, 3 year old and newborn, my advice is to not compare yourself to families where both parents work. Their kids are gone all day. It's not as easy for us. I've gotten to where I don't even have people over. I've just accepted we need to meet at parks and other places. We get out and about a lot though
@@elizabethheiland5632 I don’t have homeschooling friends where both parents work, I only look up to and am surrounded by moms at home full-time. Luckily some are not too far away and I have a yard for when the snow isn’t here for them to come over. But yes, parks is a great idea!
"This is my calling" I felt that. I hold onto that feeling as I trudge through my day job, which is lovely and fulfilling, but leaves me with no energy or time to care for the home where my loved ones live. One day at a time.
"It just takes constant motion" This is so true, and a helpful way to look at homemaking! I recently discovered your channel and I so appreciate the practical way you approach homemaking!
Best video I've seen on homemaking. You just bring such an authenticity to your content. I've been following you for I think about 6 years now, and I really admire that you have not changed as your audience has grown 💜
Growing up w a single working parent my brother and I had assigned chores some daily and some weekly. We also did the laundry which included folding and putting away. Also, my older brother had greater responsibility of making sure things were done according to mom’s instructions. The only thing my mom did was cook either in the evening or on the weekends. This has greatly taught us responsibility for our home and in our life in general. On a side note, growing up in the 80’s & 90’s students were punished and rewarded by doing paper pick up around our school. All these duties truly benefited us kids growing up.
As a mom who stayed home and raised 7 kids, I can agree with everything you said. It's much easier to keep up with the cleaning as you go along, rather than overwhelm yourself by waiting until you have to do it all at once. "Homemaking and mothering is the hardest job you'll ever love." I don't recall where I first heard that saying, but it's so true! It takes diligence and efficiency when you have a large family. The management skills you develop are so undervalued.
You said a mouth full! I am a mother of 10, and now a grandmother of 15 and I remember thinking gee, Will these things ever slow down for me! Loving to decorate and make a home beautiful, and teaching my kids how to help around the house! But I just did it everyday, and today it seems crazy not having to mop everyday!!! I didn’t have those robots to vac and mop my floors back them! But today with all the stuff on the market to help, it sure would have been one less thing to do, and I could read , color are paint with my kids!!! Love this! But so glad those days are behind me, and I get my grands, and then take them home! And come home and take a nap, they wear me out, but I play with them the whole time!!! But isn’t that the way it should be! Party at Nammies and Pappies!!!??? Loving being a fun playful grandma
This was such an encouraging video, my husband now works from home everyday and we have a dairy goat and garden. Sometimes it feels like we were just such messy people but in reality we were just living in our home, which isn’t something people really do now. You are such a inspirational homemaker :)
Just suggesting this laundry tip for anyone who might agree/find it helpful. Wash your kitchen towels/cloths in a separate wash. I use bleach, hot water and detergent. When you think about all the ways we use them in the kitchen it makes sense not to wash them with the families underwear and socks. Hope this is helpful for someone 😊
I do the same. I wash towels/cloths separate and I wash sheets separate. That is just what I find best for my family. I always say that my mom was a “laundry artist”. 😂 I get my laundry routine from her. I actually enjoy doing laundry and love the soothing sound of the washer and dryer running. I guess I’m a laundry geek 🤓
I was always taught to treat any absorbents (towels, kitchen cloths, etc) as a separate category that must be treated differently. Within that, there has to be a "clean" and a "less clean" wash for reusable nappies and pads and such
Lovely video! I love your home and decor! As a homemaker with 4 kids I actually do let stiff slide on occasion when I feel overwhelmed or tired. I go take a bath, a nap, or call a girlfriend! I get some soul care❤ Then when I return to the task it is that much easier with my fresh mindset! 😊 Sometimes I even close my eyes for 10 minutes in the evening before putting my kids to bed 😅 Taking good care of myself first seems to give me more energy for the house and kids so I actually get MORE done by pausing ❤
I love how you talk about reducing the load and making housework less overwhelming, thank you for that! I struggle with feeling very overwhelmed when our home is a mess and we both work full time and these tips have been really helpful.
I’m 1 of 10 kids and 8 of us were homeschooled and home making was part of my moms schooling we learned everything from grocery shopping to cleaning house but since there were so many of us the house always seemed to be dirty one way or another. Now I’m an adult and pregnant with my first and man has this 8 months been an adventure, I’ve been trying to get into habits that keep my house clean and watching your video made me realize that there is no right way or wrong way there’s just the way that works for you and your family so I think I’m gonna apply that mindset while cleaning and apply some of your habits you share as well and see how they work for me and my family. Best of luck to all the new and not so new parents out there. ☺️
This video felt like a big hug from a momma friend. No judgement, no I’ve got it all figured out and you should too feelings at all just super helpful, thoughtful, practical advice. Thank you for the light you shine in our society at this time. Never underestimate the amazing influence you have made for women and families everywhere.
You’re so right about doing it now rather than put off. My husband and I are late 70’s, healthy and pretty active with lots of interests. I loved having order when my children were small and still do. I look forward to your posts. It’s common sense and wholesome ! Thank you
Thanks for not greenwashing your bathroom cleaning routine! We try really hard to keep our house clean as naturally as possible, but there are some places that occasionally need something like bleach.
It can be done… I have never allowed bleach in my home for going on 4 decades. There’s hydrogen peroxide when you really need it. Originally it was because I’d lost too many clothes to my mother’s bleach habit, and now it’s because I don’t use toxic products
I appreciate how inclusive you make homemaking :) I am a married corporate-workin' girl with no kids, but I still love home-making. Cooking is what I love, but cleaning is a necessity, so I appreciate your tips! I also can appreciate that you provide a safe place for stay-at-home moms to feel related to and important. While that isn't my path, it's important for motherhood & homemaking to be respected!
You do such an Amazing job of homemaking. I only had 2 children & I personally don't think I could have handled more. I Love them to pieces & they are now in their 30's. I worked long hours as a Nurse mainly on 2nd shift but I had a routine each morning of doing laundry & making the dinner for my family & cleaning my kitchen before I went to work. I think the example you are showing your children of how to care for your home & family is invaluable.
We moved about a few months ago and I still find myself struggling to get into a good grove. I feel that I have so many things to manage on a day to day basis that I completely forget to even potty train my kids. I'm a SAHM and my kids are homeschooled I have 3. I also struggle finding the time to do homeschooling. What on earth am I doing with my day? I chase after the kids, I clean up countless amounts of toys which I'm seriously considering getting rid of, cleaning the house which seems to be never ending. I do laundry everyday except the weekends. I know I need to get my kids to help out more, my oldest is nearly 6. But by the time I get around to doing that, it's more of a struggle. I don't have them helping me in the kitchen because of clutter right now. You've given me some good tips.
I am certain you will figure out little things that will help along the way...I definitely try to keep things to a minimum which helps a great deal, kids like to help and be responsible...invite them in to help. Training your children on how to do age appropriate tasks and letting them try harder things really pays off in confidence for them and the contribution they make to the family.
Watching this makes me feel a lot of relief & compassion for myself as I remember we have moved 7 times in 9 years, I can only imagine how cozy and homey you get to feel and become when living in one residence. Thanks for that reminder.
As someone who is trying to be a homemaker & isn’t very good at it, I usually don’t click on these videos because I’m like “I don’t want to feel convicted today” 😅 but I really do appreciate them. Now if I could only stay off the internet so I can get things done!
Hey Colleen, (Beautiful name btw!) I resonate with your sentiment. I find it helpful to pop one of these videos on and start on a chore (I.e. dishes or laundry). It feels like I have company and helps me follow a task through. 😊 Happy homemaking!
These videos are so encouraging! The mundane is beautiful, especially when you watch someone else do it :-) Your tips are right on point, and do help keep a peaceful home.
"No magic system to prevent the kitchen from getting dirty 3x per day, nor the laundry from happening. Just keep going." (Play house for your loved ones.) Love it! "It's part of the gig." When I learned the clean as you go and the wipe the bathroom each time I'm in there--wow, it was a great moment. I decided I deserved to live in a "Bed and Breakfast" place.
I love what you said at the end about the constancy of homemaking. I love this quote by Ursula LeGuinn “Housework is the art of the infinite.” It always makes me feel so much more elevated about doing the dishes. 23:45
This video is so timely! God has been teaching me to implement one new habit at a time…it’s all in baby steps! I’ve been incorporating flylady and it’s helping my sanity. I love the garage sale tip, such a great idea with decluttering.
Thank you for the encouragement!! I worked for the first couple years of my marriage and started staying home about 2 years ago. We have been in our own place for about a year and a half and have an 8 month old. It definitely can be overwhelming but videos like yours are such an encouragement to me. They make me excited to learn new things and work on my homemaking skills! You (and Sarah Therese Co.) also actually inspired me to start doing sourdough! It’s been about two weeks and I’ve made so many different things already. Bread, pancakes, garlic bites, cookies, buns, and I’m in the middle of making some naan bread from my discard. So I guess I say all of that to let you know this 25 year old just starting my homemaking journey is very grateful for you and your encouragement 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been a homemaker for about 6 1/2 years and it felt so easy to keep up with the chores back then but I didn’t cook from scratch. Now we have three children and I do cook 3 meals a day on average. I needed this encouragement!
We just had our fourth child (all 7 and under). We homeschool our children. I'm overwhelmed by the constant activity. I don't know how you do it!!! You are an inspiration!
This was great, thank you! I agree with this. We're only a family of 5 but daily laundry was a game changer in our home. Each kid does their own laundry and gets their own laundry day, I do the laundry for my husband and myself and each get their own day, the other two days are for linens, towels, rugs, etc. This keeps a nice manageable flow for us without it all falling on one person.
Great advice. Very sane. I resonate with many of your points as a full time homemaker with three (one on the way) children and homeschooling. “Get comfortable with the constant motion.” Well said!
Homemaking is my calling for sure and when I remember that and that I am in the center of God's will it makes it so much easier and gives me so much joy! Thanks for your videos! I appreciate them.
I hear you on the kitchen. I am always wiping and cleaning because my motto is, I cannot cook in a dirty kitchen. Although, I clean my kitchen after every use, my two older boys every night take turns wiping the counter and vacuuming the kitchen. There is no grime and grease build up as the kitchen is constantly being cleaned.
One thing that helped me. I have one room/project for each day of the week that I deep clean. Mon-bathrooms wash towels tues-kitchen/mop floors, etc. along with daily cleaning maintenance. This has helped me stay on top of my home with 3 kids constantly in and out! Thanks for sharing your wisdom Lisa!
This makes me feel better. One homemaking mama said she cleaned the bathroom everyday, washed bedding every week, and mopping daily. That seemed impossible. Love and second your practical tips.
Homemaking is such an underrated unappreciated job ! I think Homemaking is such an important job ! Keeping a clean home provides a safe nurturing environment from the uncertainty of the world around us ❤️ You are an amazing mom and homemaker 😊 I just love your authenticity! I also love your farmhouse kitchen especially that sink !
I needed this video Lisa- thank you! I am also a first generation homeschooler/homesteader- so understanding the mess that comes with that and a big family has been difficult coming from a small family in the city. I get so overwhelmed- so little bits here and there will be good.
Dear Real Motherhood, I'm 76 yrs. old, raised 4 and now grandmother of 15 and 2 greats... And I have learned so much about home management from Lisa. God has truly blessed her to teach all of us. There are so many varibles in our lives, but Lisa has a knack for sorting and teaching. God bless you dear one. Hugs💞
So good! It was a game changer for me when I just started to clean the big things as I saw it. For some reason I thought I *had* to have a “big cleaning” day, but it has been so much easier to just tackle an issue as I see it! And it’s amazing how fast some of the deep cleaning tasks can actually be when you’re just knocking them out right away!
I like these habits for sure. When our shower was newwer last year we all squeeje the shower to avoid the soap scum. Now we dont do it and i need to restart this. One habit we do at the summer youth camp because we keep the dorms clean throughout the week so its not such a huge job at the end of the week is the swish and swipe of the sink area. If there is a drip of toothpaste or water left from when you reach over to grab a paper towel just do a quick wipe of tje counter area and then in the sink after you dry your hands and its all done. They do a pretty decent job. I need to implement it at home!
I love how you are always cleaning and keep on top of your laundry. I do the same with my house clean it when it’s dirty not a massive cleaning day. Isn’t that the truth an unused kitchen stays clean? I’m always cooking, baking, fermenting and also cleaning!! I enjoy it so much. Those bagels look delicious!
Thank you for this video. I’m a ftm with a 6 month old now and I’ve been having a difficult time trying to keep the house clean and organized 😅 my son wants to be held all the time so it makes it harder to get things done.
Dont usually write comments, but I really liked and appreciate watching this video because it (helped) a household of 6 so I could relate in a lot of areas ❤ thank you
Staying on top of it is really what I needed to hear. I'm 4 years into homemaking with my husband and kids, now 3 kids. I'm barely beginning to find my footings. This video was very practically helpful. Thank you
Yes on the robot vacuum. My number one hated chore is sweeping and vacuuming, but i equally hate walking on hair, dirt, or crumbs. My roborock was a life changer.
I may have listened to this on repeat today. It's really been a soothing balm to my soul as I learn to be a better homemaker. I have two little boys, 3.5 years and 2 years. I'm a stay at home mom who is starting my own soap making business. This has been a wonderful video for me!
I use the same strategy as you do and I find it just works best to clean something everyday when I see it and I do 1 load of laundry a day. This makes I have free time every single day and it all never feels overwhelming 😊 love your videos and how real and down to earth they are!
Thank you for sharing this. And reminding us we have the ability to tweak these ideas to suit our needs. Side note- I grew up pulling clean clothes out of baskets or leaf plastic bags. ( Family of 8) I hated it and to this day (I'm 61) I wash, dry and fold clothes (the owners get to put them away) right away. Funny how our life experiences can inform our later life choices.
Dear Lisa, As always you have brought a new approach to home management. Thank you dear one for your diligence and hopefulness in caring for our families. I'm 76yrs old and still gaining a new approach as you share with us. God bless and Hugs💞
This organizing video was a welcome return to your usually gracious mix of information w/ a relatively unobtrusive spattering of sponsors that many have come to gratefully expect.
This is very encouraging to think about the mindset shift (not comparing my home to others...especially those who work outside the home or don't prioritize the same things.).
Thank you for your video on this! Your very last comments made me tear up. I’m struggling with homemaking due to letting things go, clutter and having a difficult time asking for help. But you helped support this feeling simply by stating it takes time and doesn’t have to be perfect etc. I appreciate your videos ❤
I use my large stock pot for: scalding chickens, making soap, Water bath canning, and will soon use it for cheese too. It's a workhorse and earns It's storage space.
I am a working grandmother and I love your channel! Just a couple of comments to add to what you said in this video. Caring for your family home is a form of exercise that can keep you healthy as you age. It’s a wonderful way to nurture yourself and husband/children while you move throughout your day. Just remember to check in with your physical therapist to make sure you are practicing good body mechanics as you go. Thank you for setting a good example and posting inspiring content for homemakers of all ages!
You know Lisa, when I was a stay at home Mom, when both of my children were little, and starting again in the workplace, I was so tired of hearing, what was your main job! Like raising children, and maintaining a home is NOT a full time job! If you have children, THAT is a full time job, plus maintaining a house! I agree with you with maintaining a house and laundry. I think everyone in the house should contribute to help keeping the house manageable! I would love to get Brook linen, but I don’t know if they ship to the U.K.
I think one of the greatest disservice a parent does is to not teach their children to work in the home. It’s a privilege to live in a family that lifts the load for each other.
Just remember juggling 3 kids under 5 is full on! That alone is a big achievement. They are so busy at that age.
And the most important thing to remember is that nothing in homemaking is ever "done." It's just life!
I was in the exact same situation as you when I became a SAHM. I'm 3 years in now and added homeschooling, too!
I only have 2 children, but I do laundry daily because I have a hereditary bedwetter that has his laundry pile up. It's getting better slowly, but it gets overwhelming if I don't.
Well said 👏
Homemaking is such important work! It doesn't get enough credit!
Sadly, it never has and it never will.
So very true!
It has gotten credit in past years
I am such an overwhelmed woman.
See if you can get family or friends to help at home. Like a free nanny ❤ Prayers for you
Just read your comment while watching an older video of Lisa's. I hope your life/family/school situation is better than it was a year ago.
The eggs on your counter is just as beautiful as a floral bouquet ❤️
I agree! It gives me so much joy to have them in baskets where I get to enjoy all the pretty colors!
So trueee!!! Beautiful momma she is. A dime.

@Phyllisann Godfrey 😂 Exactly! It's such a pleasure to sit back while he cleans - until I walk into the kitchen afterward to find half of our kitchenware has been used and left out, with food stuck or burnt on at least two pans. 😢🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
My mother taught my sisters and I to always clean as we cook.
But what is the toddler doing while you are being so efficient? Mine is hanging on my legs saying "Mommy! pickup! read book! milk! mommy"
@@kassiabatista7228 mine too
I am an older housekeeper. I loved this video, the points, your wisdom for younger women, your encouragement. I can agree with every point, and have lived them over the course of years. I applaud you for this friendly presentation for young homemakers!
Thank you!
One of the things I've learned is be happy with the job the kids do. Always say thank you and never re do or "fix" it in their presence.
Other than hooker fashioned dolls like "bratz"? )
The same for boys.

My youngest child is 34. I guess it's time to stop using them as an excuse!

I agree. I'm retired now but worked all my life and I was also a homemaker.
I agree with everything you wrote! Thank you !
what ate your favorite cleaning supplies
Thank you
The more you do it the easier it gets!
I work full time but love catching on on homemaking at the weekend. I love to cook and bake for me and my husband, long walks with the dog, projects in the house and garden.
I have 7 kids as well 2,5,6,8,9,11,14. I appreciate any tips and advice from another mom that actually understands my life. Thank you!! 🥰♥️

Wow! God bless you! Keep them babies coming. What a blessing
Aww congrats on starting your family! I’m due with my first in September too!

"This is my calling"
I felt that.
Welcome aboard!
Best video I've seen on homemaking. You just bring such an authenticity to your content. I've been following you for I think about 6 years now, and I really admire that you have not changed as your audience has grown 💜
Thanks so much 😊
Growing up w a single working parent my brother and I had assigned chores some daily and some weekly.
You are such a inspirational homemaker :)
thank you. yes, everyday living does make messes....
I wash kitchen towels separately with a cup of vinegar and an extra rinse cycle. It takes out any nasty smells and it doesn't take out the color!
@@jannier9766😂😂laugh
It made me so happy to see how quickly you fold your towels and don’t try to make it all perfect.
All the girls in my family would cringe at your channel all around your age. You are so refreshing and give me a new hope for your generation 😬🥳🙌🙏
Thank you!

I wish I could be that care free when folding things like dish cloths/ towels.. 😅
I really don't sweat the small stuff...
Watching this makes me feel a lot of relief & compassion for myself as I remember we have moved 7 times in 9 years, I can only imagine how cozy and homey you get to feel and become when living in one residence. Thanks for that reminder.
Homemaking is creating a nurturing environment so everyone can fulfill their virtuous potential. Environment is the greatest influence after all
As someone who is trying to be a homemaker & isn’t very good at it, I usually don’t click on these videos because I’m like “I don’t want to feel convicted today” 😅 but I really do appreciate them. Now if I could only stay off the internet so I can get things done!
Hey Colleen,
(Beautiful name btw!)
I resonate with your sentiment. I find it helpful to pop one of these videos on and start on a chore (I.e. dishes or laundry). It feels like I have company and helps me follow a task through. 😊
Happy homemaking!
@colleenk4855 Not all of us come to this naturally and it takes a lot more for us to motivate us.

Press on! Thank you for that end message. A great reminder the job is never done and that’s not only Ok, it’s the job! ❤
Your last sentence… wow! I also deserve to live in a bed and breakfast 😮. Thank you ❤
I love what you said at the end about the constancy of homemaking.
I started motherhood late in life but look forward to learn and be the best mom I can be thank you for your time and encouragement
Sounds like you are doing great! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been a homemaker for about 6 1/2 years and it felt so easy to keep up with the chores back then but I didn’t cook from scratch. Now we have three children and I do cook 3 meals a day on average. I needed this encouragement!

Totally agree about resetting the kitchen after each meal. When I started washing my pots and pans IMMEDIATELY after use, it really helped too.
Great tips and encouragement! 💕Just keep swimming is what I sing sometimes. ☺️
The last chapter of your video was really encouraging. Being content with constant motion is something I needed to hear!
Thanks for sharing!! congratulations on number 4!
Just started watching your videos. I love your kitchen sink.😊
Thank you, I love it too, despite it's vintage quirks.
I do too, I had this sink in my previous house that my family outgrew, it really is beautiful, I miss mine now
One thing that helped me.
You just described a lot of things I do, mom of 4+
God bless you!
This makes me feel better. One homemaking mama said she cleaned the bathroom everyday, washed bedding every week, and mopping daily. That seemed impossible. Love and second your practical tips.

I needed this video Lisa- thank you! I am also a first generation homeschooler/homesteader- so understanding the mess that comes with that and a big family has been difficult coming from a small family in the city. I get so overwhelmed- so little bits here and there will be good.

Wisdom with perspective. Keeping it real, too.
I was excited to hear about Brooklinen. I wish their products were made in America. We appreciate well made things.
All good points and what I have followed for 30 years!

I may have listened to this on repeat today. It's really been a soothing balm to my soul as I learn to be a better homemaker. I have two little boys, 3.5 years and 2 years. I'm a stay at home mom who is starting my own soap making business. This has been a wonderful video for me!
Right, I need to meditate on these words of wisdom
I use the same strategy as you do and I find it just works best to clean something everyday when I see it and I do 1 load of laundry a day. This makes I have free time every single day and it all never feels overwhelming 😊 love your videos and how real and down to earth they are!
I am an aspiring homemaker & mom of 3 …. Working on bettering myself everyday 😊
“Content with constant motion.” Very well said.
Experience is the best teacher. After 30 years of marriage, I remember how stressed I was in the early years. It's so much easier now!
