- Authorities said the suspect, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, allegedly shot his grandmother prior to opening fire at the school. Two teachers were among those killed at Robb Elementary School.

There are no words to describe how devastating and unnecessary this was. I'm so sorry to the families who have lost their baby, to the families whose child was injured, to the families of those teachers lost and to the people who have to find a way to make sense of this. I wish there was more we could do to ensure safety in our schools.
The sad truth is, this has always been and will continue to be a problem. Very little effort is being done to prevent this. Leaders more concered about politics and money than about the safety and well-being of their community.
I wish there was something we could do to stop the cycle of mass shootings unique to America. This does not only affect schools.

As a father of three kids, I feel so saddened and devastated with this tragic event. It shouldn't happen to start with. As a human being , I have a message to communities across the nation, for the parents who neglect their kids ;parents it is time to be responsible for your kids! Don't make babies and then let them in the hands of others! Your kids are your responsibility. You are sooooo correct. When my Hubby and I decided to get married in 1994 we decided NO children. Not only did we not want the responsibility but neither one of us was raised by responsible parents. It's a sad, sad world we live in. Now we've been married 27 years and have not ONE regret. Who the hell would bring a kid into this world today. From Buffalo NY also. It was an awful tragedy at Tops innocent people, some were there to help others. Purely evil guy to drive 200 miles just to murder people. I thought thank god he didn’t go to a school because my 4 grandchildren go to school in Buffalo that is mostly minority students. They are 6,7,8,9 y/o who I worry about since tragedy struck home. When I heard of this school shooting it just broke my heart and gave me so much anxiety. So much hate and killing, somehow things have to change.

As a preschool teacher and a mother this is one of my biggest fears. We need to do something to protect our future and our children.
That dad is a very tough human being holding it together like that. I know there's serious grief in his heart but to be able to articulate himself and speak on the situation and his baby so well was admirable. He was not obligated to do that at all and many understandably wouldn't be able to handle it the way he did. I love he recognizes that he now must live in her name knowing she would want him to do right and live his best life. ❤ I've been praying all night for the lives lost, families, and our world. May God be with us all.

Protect schools like the US did with airports after 9/11 (if we all really cared about saving innocent lives, this would have been going on for decades; FYI - inner city schools don't have these problems due to their security measures). Over 50% of the public (I bet 100% of parents) would be in favor of metal detectors and armed security. Gun control isn't coming anytime soon and I'm okay with it. RIGHT NOW -- Schools would become HARD TARGETS!!!! If people, or should I say the politicians cared (same with the sanctimonious media and celebrates) and wanted to protect children/adults, they would champion making schools, places of worship, gathering venues, etc. to have security. No it isn't the world. It's America that gets scarier. In 1996 here in Australia a guy carried out our worst mass shooting with an AR-15, the same gun used here. Our government, supported by the people, introduced sensible gun laws which included banning weapons and background checks. Australia has not had a mass shooting since. No one here walks around with guns except for the police. Our schools aren't barricaded or need metal detectors. Americans constantly say that banning weapons doesn't work but that clearly isn't true. Restrictions work in many countries in the world it's just that Americans seem to be the only ones who want to regularly see little dead bodies on their nightly news.

A lockdown should have been issued when that 911 call came in from the grandma. A sick criminal on a rampage near by was a risk and the school should have been notified to lockdown until the criminal was detained or out of the area. Should be a protocol for precautionary measures.
