🛰Garmin Dezl OTR710 Vs Garmin Dezl OTR700 Truck GPS - ruclips.net/video/n1KJwCVuOjI/видео.html
The Randy McNally Truck driver GPS I love it it always works and I also have the dash camera that always works I know there’s other people that have problems with their Randy McNally but I’ve never had any issues
When I had one, it was fine to. I didn't know about Garmin then and decided to try it out. Never looked back lol.
Excellent video! Thank you.
You're welcome!
Can you run it vertical??? I don’t need to see left and right of my position I need to see forward
I had a 7" garming and several times it didn't recognize the directions, now I'll try Rand McNally, let's see how it behaves, because the most stressful thing is being lost with a semi and not being able to turn 🤢
Tell me about it! that is super stressful lol. Happened to me a few times before I ever got a truck gps.
You'll be 1,000 times happier with the RM. Used RM for years and tried the Garmin on a friend's recommendation. The Garmin is junk and there's no comparison.
Hi thanks for the video. What camare can I put on my trailer to use when blind side parking.
If you are using the Garmin check out the BC™ 30 Wireless Backup Camera
Did you get a backup camera and hows it working for you? Getting a camera but haven't bought it yet.
@@angieg4811 I have not bought a backup cam but thinking about it!
Pretty good review. I have a RM tnd 500 since 2014 still using it. Had cord issues and I thought it died so bought the RM Tnd 1050 after half day use returned was too big overkill couldn't get refund exchange only. To kinda equal the return I upgraded my Headset, Dashcam and GPS to: RM Cleardryve 220 Skulls black n white, RM Dashcam 500, RM tnd 750. Both RM and Garmin dropped the ball these past years with their GPS upgrades Both have lots of negative reviews. Still using my old tnd 500 next to the new tnd 750 until I get used to the new platform. Lots of good old stuff they left out like the brightness, auto day and night on the old you could select each level of brightness on both day and night with the little shades of grey squares. Also the map view is too tablet like but maybe both Garmin and RM had no choice in order to upgrade processors they needed faster screens platform. WE JUST GOT TO ADJUST AND ROLL WITH IT UNTIL THEY GET IT RIGHT.
Great review as well from you, thank you. Your right we just gotta roll with it.
I've used both and I like the rand McNally best but it's gps has not worked well in the past. If you buy a gps that's the one think that needs to work. The garmin gets the job done but it's anal once you set your destination that's the only way it wants to go and it will keep trying to put you back on track which is ok but if you know a better way it does not care it will still be telling you to go the way it wants. The rand McNally would recognize you're going a better way and pick up that route to get you to your destination.
Hi I’m going to start driving a straight truck in NJ & NY. My biggest concern is staying away from the parkway & certain highways in NY where I can’t drive. Should I just keep my regular car GPS & turn on “No Tolls” on the settings to stay away from the parkway or just buy a truck gps?
If your car GPS will allow you to input your vehicles specs and automatically comply with designated trucking routes for height restrictions, weight restrictions and dangerous goods routes (if applicable) etc then the safety aspect is mostly covered. If you're expected to travel new routes consistently, the convenience of having a GPS designed to provide you all truck related data and locations immediately after you input your destination, just might be worth your money. Good luck!
Exactly what Jeff Johnson just said.
My Garmin Nuvi 2595 has a feature called "custom avoidances"... I can an "area" or "road" to avoid... I haven't used it but I can definitely see how it would be useful for known roads with low bridges... Especially if you drive in the same area all the time...
Question I don’t do OTR mainly city driver sometimes out of state like Jersey New York Massachusetts do these both route you around low bridges?
Yes they do. I know the Garmin also lets you set the height of your tractor and trailer. I use it for the city as well
@@TruckerCurtis Thank you for the reply I think the Garman Dezl 800 will be The better choice for me
@@inkman411 You're welcome my friend. Great choose! You will not be disappointed!
Nice video--I'm a Rand guy, tried all the Gamins and decided they just don't cut it in the final analysis. By the way, the Garmin units are pronounced Deezel (no Desill). It's a play on the word--you know--same as the fuel diesel truck run on?
Thank you for that!
The best gps ever built for build quality was the first generation Garmin 465T. Mine lasted 12 years.
Thats impressive!
I still have mine but dont use it anymore
The 800 is a nice GPS and I has live weather and traffic and you can updates off Wi-Fi or Hotspot
Yes that is a great one! Huge screen too lol
Great comparison, thank you! Do these have Voice activation?
I'm not sure about the Rand McNally, but I know the Garmin has one.
I only have to mark miles state and route when I cross over the state lines.
My garmin keeps freezing it is up to date on software. Thinking about rand
I have a Rand TND750. It's about 3 years old and has worked fine. I pull a 45' long, 102" wide, 13' 6" tall 5th wheel camper. I rely on my GPS to avoid height hazards and small roads as I am 70' hitched. Coming home from Myrtle Beach my Rand died, the touch screen stopped working. We called the help line and they were useless. We later found out that there is a class action suit against Rand McNally. I will be switching to the Garmin OTR series, good luck to all those Rand McNally users.
Thank you for that information! It's super helpful. Is it hard driving those oversized rigs? I always wondered. looks hard even with your pilots.
Rand McNally gps that came out b4 or after pandemic have really bad issues with battery charge or shutting off for no reason..this morning s why I bought a Garmin otr750...little expensive but no issues as with rand...qc with rand has gone downhill big-time over the yrs
Good to know! Thank you!
@@jamessmallwood8488 ARE YOU STILL USING THAT GARMIN OTR750??? IF SO HOW ACCURATE HAS IT BEEN HELPING YOU AVOID LOW CLEARANCE???
I have the garmin and it does everything I mean everything that he displayed and the picture looks horrible on the Ran . I still want to try the Ran but after this video I’m not so sure
I agree, the Garmin is the best. I'll never go back to the Ran.
Can you go over the “Edit Route” feature please 🙏🏾
I do a lot city driving my garmin be taking me no truck zones roads where I can't turn I work in NJ CT nyc area
Always double check your routes, I use google earth and look around that
I bought garmin 800 before I use old garmin is just broke drive to New Jersey and new garmin show road route truck with max 10 tones restrictions old garmin even better show map them new one maybe I need to try rand McNally and also garmin don’t see other address in small cities
That's strange! is it updated? I use to use the rand and I switched to the Garmin and its way better IMO but you could try it to see how you personally like it
I grew up on Tom Tom and Garmin I just keep seeing these rand McNally everywhere but honestly with all the complaints I think I will stick with garmin
Yeah, those are pretty much the 3 that dominate the market but out of the three Garmin is the best Imo
I personally love the Rand on the search, accurate location, choices on truck stops, fuel and more…but software issues is a most with this gps. It’s time for rand to give us a better lasting gps. Software is great but hardware sucks.
Garming sucks, searching for address. I work from the states to Canada and is it a total mess. On a route (287 north) I know it kept telling me to go back because it wasn’t a truck route. It’s not accurate for when you are running out of time and needs a truck stop. Also every time you turn it on you have to set the truck info, I don’t know but it can’t be set for good. Hardware is a 💯
Common blunder of most drivers is not reading Manuel and putting in truck information as it states!
So you recommend rand McNally over Garmin?
I ask you this because I don't know which one I should choose.
@@jamessmallwood8488 sorry to tell you it wasn’t my case. 🤦♀️
@@Cerdo_asqueroso Hey there. If you are new to trucking industry get yourself a Rand, it will help you get around and find accurate locations and trucks stop even in Canada. Buy yourself a small one, the inexpensive it will work perfect.
Garming only pro is the hardware and the one I have won’t work now without being on the charger.
One tips I give you is what I did with my Rand, I bought it at QVC online and they give you option to buy an insurance, so I returned when it die on me, like twice and the last I gave a try to a garming with the same money of the Rand. But I tell you this, many times Rand helped me specially in Canada.
As a garmin user for the last 15 years I switched to the McNally TND85 and in my opinion it’s better then the Garmin otr700
Nice! Glad you like the Rand McNally!
It reads all the bridges ? Sounds crazy if it does. My rand McNally 7 pro doesnt.
Hello friend
Plz tell me which model is rand McNally best I need
Can you tell me what issues you had with the garmin? I just bought one for someone getting ready to truck drive.😲
So which one is better?
Does this GPS have a hazmat route option?
Yes
Yes
Thanks for your help. I'm a new driver an just got my hazmat so I'm looking for any and all information with hazmat route navigation.
Are these good for HAZMAT?
Yes they are
Hey Bud Rand McNally 740 is no more it is discounted!!!
Yes, updated to the TND 750
I purchased the Garmin DEZL OTR1000 (10 INCH GPS) last weekend for $799.99 after taxes it came out to $847.98. For the price I paid for the GPS it is not worth it in my opinion. The device itself does not feel of high quality, the map display is lacks quality as well, there is no weather radar on the map that would be color coded as the Rand McNally Overdryve 8 Pro 2. The GPS also does not allow me to 100% make road changes in the trip planner to manipulate my directions because there are cities & towns that I do drops at which could of saved me driving time, but the GPS always takes me the longest way possible for some reason. I am going to return my GPS & purchase the Rand McNally Overdryve Pro 2 which is less expensive & I get more options & abilities out of it that would suit me best.
Great detailed review! I would like to try the Overdryve to, please come back and let me know how you like it
All I can say is that the Garmin has never failed me, and Rand did. Rand is a crap shoot when you go to update it as well.
@@TruckerCurtis hi friend
Plz tell me which gps is best for Truckline garmin or rand McNally I want to buy and which model for truck routes bridges everything for truck driver
@@JatinSharma-zk7vu Hey Jatin, I personally recommend Garmin.
So you wouldn't recommend Garmin? Do you know of a better device ?
I'm look for which one gives good routes
I never once in 20 years had write down highways I took
Yeah, that's what a lot of drivers said as well. We actually no longer need to write down the highways. I wonder if they saw this video lol
@@TruckerCurtis I used to write down every road and street I would take from pick up to delivery, on every load, when I first started trucking. I did that to the city I was going to…Then had to call the customer, to get directions from the interstate to their location. That was almost 23 years ago.
It hasn’t even been 72hrs and rand has giving me nothing but headaches
When I switched from the Rand to the Garmin I was not disappointed and still have it.
How so???
My Rand has been fantastic. Definitely a necessary tool
How about garmin 710 ?
Thanks for this comparison. 👍 Going with the Garmin.
My pleasure, I'm glad you found it helpful! 😊
Do it show where the truck stops at?
Yes, the Garmin Dēzl does that I know of.
Time will tell but with Rand McNally being bought out a few months ago, Garmin may be better supported. I own a DEZL /DEE zahl/ and the original RND80 8" tablet. If it wasn't for the lack of memory in the RND, that the newer version fixed, I think the RND would be MY favorite. Unfortunately mine runs out of RAM if I try to do more than one thing at a time. But searching along the route for weigh stations, or truck stops, or rest areas, or WALMART.. RND wins. Garmin doesnt have walmart as a one touch preset to search for like RND. And i like the bigger 8" screen. Watching netflix, RUclips, and general web browsing on the RND is nicer than on my phone. Just my 2 cents.
Oh, and i dont think my garmin overlays weather on the map (temps, cuttent or forecasted precipitation, etc) like the RND, which i use often. Especially in winter
All very valid reason, I actually didn't know you can watch Netflix on RND thats pretty cool! Your right about the weather overlay that is a good thing to have especially now as you mentioned
Battery problems with Rand McNally and it will shut down no reason.except this two Rand McNally is best truck gps.
Literally just sent my Overdryve Pro 2 back to RM for a refund today. Nothing but issues with the stupid thing. What a joke it was. Once the $ get deposited back in my account, I am getting the Garmin.
Hey RandomPerson88, yeah I've hear a lot of drivers had problems with those! Great choice on the Garmin I don't think you will be disappointed. Come back and let me know how you like the Garmin once you get it!
Hows the Garmin working for you??
Definitely and Maya point of view I want recommend run McNally I had a 4 and they break their you see I got the one with the magnet and mulch a couple time but it's not working anymore if that's not that old intend years driving I already use four of them with the same issues satellite now I just purchase my new GPS and that's garminn I'm not sure how good is going to be we see I'm still learning to use it
The name should be garbage, not Garmin. Routing sucks, display options are less than RM, speed limit is always wrong, truck restrictions are inaccurate, and they haven't updated their phone connect app in 4 years. I've had both and definitely going back to RM.
DZEL=DEE-ZIL=Deisel. 😉
Thank you lol
I had a Rand and it was ok got the Garmin and IDk this MF stay taking me long ways for bo reason on routes that I know well I just ignore it and twice now in PA taking me back narrow country roads not sure why but Im starting to hate it😩
I will swear by Garmin, and never use Rand ever again.
Why what happened?
Before I switched to Garmin Rand McNally chose to take me down a NO TRUCK ROUTE neighborhood in Baltimore, MD to avoid a mile of Weight restricted road where my delivery was. Garmin notified of the restriction asked if I accept, I tap yes and took me through to location.
@@Roadkiller101 which is best garmin or rand McNally
Any issues with the Garmin?
@@SemperShock My Rand, when I tried to update it, went crazy on me, and I could never use it again. Also, it would take me out of the way routes etc. When I got the Garmin, it was spot on every time. No out of the way routes. Nothing. And, before anyone says, “ well you didn’t input this that or the other in correctly. “ I was a systems analyst and programmer for a fortune 20 company before I went into trucking.
Rand McNally Said lifetime maps but never upgraded. Lower built quality too.
Trucker GPS maps are always out of date even if you update them
That's a lie, that magnet sucks,I had to purchase a cradle to properly hold my unit in place..
I've personally never ever had a problem with it but I do understand some people may
Garmin looks better then Rand
I agree with that! haha
why not just get a android tablet or ipod and use trucker tools for your gps?
I've tried that and in my personal opinion, it's not as good as a Trucker Specific GPS.
Dezzle? Dude, it’s DIESEL.
Oh ya, lol.
Garmin Dzl 580 is the best.
agree!
Lmao that's what I have... I hate it
@@jamestupper5599 what really? why? I'm curious
Dezl is pronounced diesel lol
haha good to know! Thank you!

Anyone can read what these offer. If you really want to make a video of the difference between the two, actually use them and tell how they preform.
Idk the map on the Garmin look like trash.. just looked cheap compared to the Rand
I noticed the opposite and found the Gamin to have superior map details over the Rand McNally but that's just me lol. Which Rand do you have?
I have a ran 740. Nothing but trouble. Would never recommend
Randy mc nalley doesn't even last a year anymore ..I switchng to Garmin.its like throwning ..600 in the Garbage
