I have been watching your fathers videos for years now. I have a landscaping company here in Texas and I’m digging your videos brother keep up the good work
Yeah, I’m building my first one now. Been watching a lot of videos looking at installers meeting people it’s gonna be a fun project. I don’t know how it’s gonna turn out but it’s gonna be THERAPEUTIC.
Just started watching your videos and I have to say I love your attention to detail! I've seen other turf installers that don't go the extra mile to ensure the best quality finish like you do. Kudos.
The correct way to place the cup is to use a 3:1 sand to cement mix 6 inches wide and deep around the cup and 6 inches of 1/2 to 3/4 rock under the cup for drainage. Also wiggle the cup in your mix as it can then be adjusted when grass is installed. Lower is better than higher when installing putting cup. A cup through your compacted sub grade is making a weak area when it is stepped on after moisture. KIDS are the true test as they will certainly jump up and down on the cup or place foreign objects in it loosening and creating a putting surface issue. Nice job on remainder of installation.
There’s a patio cover gutter downspout that drains on to the level artificial turf. There’s no place for the water to go except to the putting green that’s slightly lower. You should gave added extra drainage pipes to the side yard. Luckily, it doesn’t rain much in California.
I know this is old, but may i make a few suggestions? To get a realistic putting green I'd recommend having a way to set the cups set 1" below putting surface. I know it's just a practice green so it doesn't really matter, but for me it would take that green to the next level. Also I wouldn't want it perfectly level, I'd want a small grade here or there
Excellent work guys. Love the detailed video. Thanks for breaking everything down. Very detailed work. Planning on doing my own putting green. Quick question. How often should the 6” galvanized nails be installed? I saw you put a bunch in a row but how far apart are those rows? And I’m assuming all around the perimeter as well?? Thanks Again. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Question - I would like to have an elevated area on my putting green 34’ x 15’ I notice this did create a couple small wrinkles near the point of elevation. Do you have a video that shows how to remove wrinkles from a putting green? This video shows a few nails on the far side of the putting green that are removed as you position the rough edge by the home with the green edge. Your video offers fantastic detail. Thank you!
Great video! I have a small space and will be working by myself in Arizona early summertime. I want to just do the putting green part and no fringe to save time / hassle and utilize the small space with as much putting area as possible. Is this a terrible idea?
Awesome job!!!have you ever had the big nails pull up or back out on job later down the road like years later was just curious thanks keep up the quality work
I have my artificial turf around my car pad… it’s hold all sorts of maltreatment from getting ran over to the extreme Tampa Bay weather… and it’s as solid and anchored as deep rooted sod, not one budge (including the occasional mole trying to find its way out) I highly recommend artificial turf! -and I installed it myself! Just to note, florida has no real soil, it’s all corse dark sand, I thought that in time the nails would pop out… they haven’t!
you def don't want the putting surface to be lumpy & bumpy, but it seems like you would want the putting surface to have some break for better practice
Edger, when seeming the turf together why not over laying both sides one on top of the other flat on the ground and cut both at the same time and you’ll have seem? I hope it will helps.
Hi, this is the first video I watched about installing this kind of turf. I’ve never done it before but I have been installing carpet over 30 years. Obviously, there’s a big difference, but also a lot of similarities. When you overlap, two pieces of carpet and cut through them, both, you run the risk of cutting the material “short”. In this case, I will call them blades of grass. So if you cut a bunch of them short, when it matches up to the full length blades, it will show a bit of a valley in the seam. Therefore, making it noticeable. FYI 👍🏼
I have almost an identical layout land wise I'd like to do something almost identical with. Anyone have a rough estimate of how much this job would have cost the home owner?
At 17:04, I think those are staples on the putting green?!?!? I am still trying to find out if the putting green need any nails at all. I am now leaning towards Yes. Perhaps using nails with a smaller head. i.e. finishing nail.
I know this is a super late response, in my case, I want a somewhat level one as I don’t play golf. I simply just want something to do outside with friends and family or the kids. Just a different way to look at it
When you chalked out the shape of your green did you cut it out from the top? I noticed your always cutting from the bottom and wouldn’t be able to see the chalk if you did that
Just curious. Do you do the wave seam at head seams or all seams? My company does turf around playgrounds and XGrass told us years ago to avoid head seams at all costs
I assume they didn't have money for that side yard with the AC? They should have stretched their budget just a bit to even put down gravel. That side yard looks rough just being dirt.

Your pops taught you well! Attention to detail is 🔥

What a great video and great work my friend.
Nice work on this one.
How much does something like this cost
Installed turf can be anywhere from 15-25 per square foot. So extremely expensive
Wow excellent!
Beautiful.

super clean job
that looks great!

We ended up putting the downspout directly into the drains
Also you should be at least 1/2" below the weep screed on the house..
Great work ,nice explanation, thanks
Awesome work like always
Hi there , how many inches of gravel and cg would you recommend and the brand of the putting green turf? If you don’t mind? Thank you
Nice Job!

Who manufactures the true you used and what weight is the turf on this job?
Looks great 👍
Nice job on the video thanks
Very informative
What is the brand of turf? Would like to buy that for my backyard green
Great video! Does it matter if the finish nails are galvanized or non-galvanized?
Solid work !!!
Full send bro never lift mobbin deep 😏 🤙 stay humble nice already at 2k subs swish!
TY
I will be a first timer to install turf, with a separate putting green. Do you have an idea for me what to look for as far as to approach this job
Good job bro
Clean . Love it
Great Job, thank you for sharing. (Y)
Is there a variation of the top sands spread over the top that might get hotter with sun than others?
How did you get your putting green in place? Did you glue it down or did you wait to staple the actual turf to the putting green turf?
Perfect installation
TY we do our best

What’s the name of the tool you used to cut out the holes? Where do you buy or rent one?
Looks amazing 👏
What is the first cover you put over the 3/4 inch crushed concrete?
Do you put down any weed barrier cloth or material before the crushed concrete??
Thank you
Do you service San Bernardino area?

Nice vid, can you work on your speech irregularities?
This is awesome! How thick did you do your sand layer?
What gauge and length are the staples? I have 6 inch 11 gauge and they bend when I hammer them into the compacted base.
Is this Smart Turf you installed?
Great video! I have a small space and will be working by myself in Arizona early summertime. I want to just do the putting green part and no fringe to save time / hassle and utilize the small space with as much putting area as possible. Is this a terrible idea?
How much did you charge for this job? Ballpark?
Awesome job!!!have you ever had the big nails pull up or back out on job later down the road like years later was just curious thanks keep up the quality work

Awesome job, are you guys in Tracy ca?
How did you hide you staples around the putting green?
Pretty Bad Ass. Great look
ty
What length is the grass/fringe ?
What does DG stand for?
you def don't want the putting surface to be lumpy & bumpy, but it seems like you would want the putting surface to have some break for better practice
Good Work 👌😎
How did you hide the nails around the green? the nails that connect the green with turf.
Beautiful work! I want a putting green..as a quick estimate what would just that putting green with two feet of fringe cost?
Don’t you need some drains on the turf to pick up run off from patio and surface water from rain ?
what do you do if you dont have a compactor
Using screeds rods or even a 3/4 or 1” cast iron pipe helps with leveling out. It’s super efficient.
how fast do the putting green run?

What was th3 cost of the proj3ct?
Why did you add the silica sand to the bottom of the green ?
I have almost an identical layout land wise I'd like to do something almost identical with. Anyone have a rough estimate of how much this job would have cost the home owner?
Get it on
What is the tool you used to dig out the holes for the putting cups? Was this something you made or something anyone can find or make?
Its a golf course cup cutter - can easily find it online; first job was on a golf course and used those way too many times!
After you marked the top of the putting green with chalk you didn’t show how you cut. Did you cut it from the top side with a razor blade?
Awesome
At 17:04, I think those are staples on the putting green?!?!? I am still trying to find out if the putting green need any nails at all. I am now leaning towards Yes. Perhaps using nails with a smaller head. i.e. finishing nail.
Should have put weed barrier down and cemented holes in place.
Why in the world would you want a perfectly level putting green
I know this is a super late response, in my case, I want a somewhat level one as I don’t play golf. I simply just want something to do outside with friends and family or the kids. Just a different way to look at it
When you chalked out the shape of your green did you cut it out from the top? I noticed your always cutting from the bottom and wouldn’t be able to see the chalk if you did that
yes we cut it from the top
What turf do you usually use or recommend?
The premium quality since it will be there for 20 years plus
What does DG mean? It goes above the 3/4 crushed concrete?
Decomposed granite. It's used as a fine grading material and compacts well.
How much did this job cost??
Actually, just the turf job cost?
Just curious. Do you do the wave seam at head seams or all seams? My company does turf around playgrounds and XGrass told us years ago to avoid head seams at all costs
All seams, obviously..
What’s the color name for this putting green?
How much does the average installer make per hour?
what are the dimensions of that putting green?
Where are you guys located??
Cali
As a golfer, it would be nice to have a less level surface to mimic the real golf greens
to be used and utilized 4:34
How much is that job worth? I'm thinking of doing a three hole in my yard!
This wouldn't work on the east coast because there's no drainage. The 3 holes would be full of water and mosquitoes. It does look great,.
Hi , how long are those nails?
What brand/type of artifical turf did you use? Not for the putting green, but the rest of it.
I assume they didn't have money for that side yard with the AC? They should have stretched their budget just a bit to even put down gravel. That side yard looks rough just being dirt.
In the future they wanted to concrete it
Wheres part 1?
you're relying on a harbor freight level?
