- In today’s video, you can see the step by step installation of my new luxury putting green! I’ve been saving for this thing for a little while and it finally came to fruition!
The weeds were getting extremely bad and worse every year. We found that Stella was super allergic to them so I took action getting this done!
It’s not in the video but I helped with digging out the weeds myself to the degree that I wanted. The guys were awesome about mixing up the weed killer really strong!
It’s actually been a couple months now and there’s not a weed in sight even after a bunch of rain and pool splashing!
Be sure to stay tuned to the end so you catch Stella having fun at the park!

Thank you so much and enjoy the day!
I have been installing turf in Mesa Az for 15 years and this way is the most correct and professional to install good job guys
Nice first shot to break it inn
Literally! No movie magic. Pure awesomeness and excitement.
Out of all the videos I seen installing putting greens, u guys made it look easier and less intimidating to do it in my own
That’s really nice, I’m thinking of putting one in my yard also
Super informative thank you!
Great Job!!! Thank You.. :)
Nice. Thinking of doing this. I have a few trees in the backyard. Not sure if that will be a problem. Also here in Florida iguanas May come by.
How’s it holding up? Usually if you don’t water the rock in between running the compactor it will settle with time. The dry rock won’t pack as tight as when it’s been wetted. Curious if you’ve noticed your base loosening/settling.
Love your attitude bro...
You a good Dude Carnal 💪
Cool, now i got a better understanding of what is involved😎
6 inches from the rough on hole 1?
It is close to the outside yeah but I wanted a long put.
Nice job big imrovement
great video
Looks good. From the Channel name I got the impression you were gonna be the one doing the work. But looks nice!
I helped! Lol. I’m so ocd… I would’ve had to make sure every last red rock was out of the area before moving on to the next step. Lol. It’s the only thing I’ve hired out so far. Well, except for getting an entirely new HVAC system for the house. But I helped with that too for a steep discount. 😉
great stuff!
where is your material list?
First off, looks great and enjoyed the video. Watched it multiple times already. I'm doing the same project in my front yard 20 x 20 and just laid down the class 2 Bass Down. When they put the cups in did they put the cups in before the putting green was down or did they cut the holes after the putting green was down?
I’m pretty sure they laid it down and then cut the cup holes out. Special tool to do it.
Looks great, but all you did was get in the way! 😂 Enjoy
The Pizza and Coronas sure didn’t look like they were in the way. 😉
Send your crew over to my house next. Oh, and pre-pay them for me 😊
Will do what I can!
It looks like an easy DIY. You have to use 2 different types of turf?
Can you list the materials ?
It was just two different weights of turf. I’m not super familiar with the materials in particular the turf. The sand used was just regular sand from the home improvement store.
Looks great. Do you know what brand you used for the actual putting green?
Thanks
I am not sure of the brand of the material actually. It was provided by the install company.
looks amazing! how do they blend the fringe so well?
Talented for sure! I got as much on video as I could!
how did they ensure they cut the turf according to the putting green outline?
Now I’m trying to remember.... I’m pretty sure they just laid some down around it and carefully cut it out as they went...
If you dont mind me asking how much they charge?
Do you have links for the holes and the types of grass used
I got the holes and flags from Amazon. Not totally sure on the type of grass just picked some out with the company ahead of time.
Nice ! Ballpark how much does it cost to make one of these that size?
Was about $2500
Great video! How big would you say this putting green is?
I thinks it’s 10’ by 16’ ish.
What was the price for this? They did a great job
It was about $2500. Worth it for sure!
Looks great whats the average cost for something like this?
Take a look through other comments to find out!
What did something like that for that size cost?
I forked out about $2500 total. Not too bad to be rid of those weeds forever!
@@thehandymanlife nice . Looking to do something similar so I appreciate the info
What size is the actual putting area?
Roughly 16ft by 12ft I believe….
Nice job..
.. $2500 seems reasonable.
Can you send me step by step and materials. Please include links for the turf. Thanks!
Step by step is portrayed in the video feel free to watch it many times! Turf is available from landscape companies near you. Check marketplaces I see cutoffs that get sold for cheap if you’re doing something on the smaller side.
I live in Mesa Arizona. What is the name of the company who did your putting green? What is the average cost they charge?(minus the Coronas 😁)
Turf Contractors. Gary Lange on Facebook. 👍🏼
Stay away from AZ Turf and More, poor craftsmanship
looks nice, but that ball did not roll very smoothly at all..
nothing like the real bentgrass green. Of course many times more expensive and lots of maintenance.
Smooth enough for who it’s for Chris. I don’t think Tiger Woods is coming to my backyard anytime soon.... lol
great job. but the sand they used wasn’t meant for putting green. but this one works i guess. lol 🤷🏽♂️
Can you say which sand is the proper one and what the difference is between that one and the one that was used please?
For putting green I think 60 is recommended, not the 20 they used. The larger the number the finer the grain and the finer the grain the smoother the turf will be.
What kind of rock is the first orange layer?
How much
About $2500
Idk where you live at but I'm guessing yall dont get much rain.
No we don’t. Phoenix AZ. More this season than ever though…
minus the labor, how much was the raw materials and equipment rental cost?
I didn’t ask for an itemized invoice. The company provided it all. I do remember being told the turf was roughly $7/sqft maybe.??
Phoenix! You could never stand on this putting green your tennis shoes golf balls would melt (:
It does get a little hot in the summer but not too terrible. Usually swimming and putting go hand in hand for me so my feet are wet. Lol.
You skipped over the guts of what we need to learn...How did they put clips in, how did they whack ground, how did they cut fringe grass around green after rolling fringe grass over and around green!
Great rusult though, just would of liked more blood n guts detail.
There was a special tool they used to cut the cup hole out. They didn’t really cut the longer grass around the lower green. It sorta just butts up to it and folds over. I got as much of the details of the install as I could! Thanks for watching!
@@thehandymanlife oh ok, thanks buddy. Really appreciate the reply. I loved the video and your positivity, so didn't want to come across negative but as I was about to install my putting green (whacked ground, cut in green and cups today, doing fringe tomorrow) I was after as much detail as possible.
Subbed to your channel and watching your other vids, which deserve way more views.
I'm going to start a seperate DIY channel and show how I made my rock waterfall/pond & putting green...Going to be super extensive.
I'll let you know name of channel when I come up with a name for it.
Thanks again buddy.
Sounds awesome! I’ll be sure to sub back! I had to decide if I was going to focus my channel on DIY or lifestyle and I picked Lifestyle. It makes it so that viewers will probably have to watch more decisively in order to gain the diy knowledge. I have debated starting a different channel with strictly “How-To” energy. Perhaps it would do well!
When they ran that compactor over your green my eyes almost exploded. And then when he took scissors to your turf at the end I wanted to cry. You recorded him cutting your money away and you made it sound like a good thing. I’m sorry.
I think the compatcer made it slower
Thanks for the input! What method do you recommend? Also remember this is in Phoenix, Arizona. Turf install could be different in different locations? I’m not the expert at this which is why it’s the only thing I’ve hired out. Hindsight tells me I wish they wouldn’t have trimmed the turf with scissors because I was adding tile (3/4” higher) to the patio. But yes, it seemed like a cool detail in the moment.
Like a slower roll of the ball?
Michael , you're talking cobblers!

When he was adding nails to the green I was yelling inside..estan bien pedos
Why’s that?
5000 $ job ?
Luckily I got a little better deal than that at $2500. I was pleased. Money well spent.
Keep your camera still.. Making me feel sea sick!!!
Lol! No worries bro they have supplements for that!
Handyman life.... yet stood there and did nothing.
I mean… you can assume that if you’d like… technically I was the videographer of the whole thing. I mentioned this project was the only one I hired out. I also helped to dig out the weeds to my liking because the company was just going to spray them. Thanks for your comment!
