I find myself watching a lot of your videos for directions on new projects I'm working on. I appreciate your attention to detail and excellent explanation. Good Job...
My wife and I had some professional installers out at our house to install K9 Turf. We have had it for almost four years and it is one of the best investments we have made in out home. We have two resident dogs and we also foster dogs for rescues and in training to be Assistance Dogs. We did our turf as a dog “potty”. A strip 8 feet wide by 30 feet long right off our garage that leads to our mud room. It is installed over what is essentially a paver base for drainage and stability. No more yellow spots in our lawn, the solids are easy to clean up and if you get the correct turf with backing meant for drainage the smell is far less than even natural grass due to better drainage. If you get the stuff from Menards of Home Depot that is NOT K9 Turf. It will smell WORSE than natural lawn as there are few of any drain holes. Our old house had that turf and it was stinky.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete I am a bit of a DIY guy but after watching a true pro install I am so glad we decided to do it “the right way” and pay a professional crew to install. After the added tools I would need to buy or rent not to mention the Chiropractic work I would need just to walk after the project - 100% worth it. Seriously a great investment.
I know this video is a year old, but I feel compelled to comment because I learned so much. I'm a homeowner who has never installed artificial turf, but I have a huge yard that is all grass, and I would love to replace it.
I like the idea of keeping the sprinkler to cool it off because I live behind a high school sports field with artificial turf. Very large area and it radiates so much heat, we can feel it. When it was grass it was a lot cooler in my backyard. Good job.
Excellent concrete videos and now this! I’ve wondered about tackling something like this, but didn’t know the “art” of the project. It’s the small touches that make it look that good and knowing them is crucial. 👍🏻
Wow!! I'm super impressed! I love the way it looks. Cooling it and flushing it is definitely better than having to mow once a week and having a nasty dead looking yard..lol
Looks nice .interesting on the seem never seen that very effective and a good idea.we put a 100 mm haunch of concrete to the perimeter trowel it and glue the turf down used nail but found the concrete and glue better .great video looks lush 🤣👍🏴🇺🇸🙂
Just got a price for my back yard here in north Dallas - figure about $9.50 per sq foot. Our back yard is small - about 2,200 sq feet. I am sure the price per sq ft goes down if you are trying to cover a larger area...
I heard there was a shortage on artificial dogs for the artificial lawn. Since it is an artificial lawn, can you pay with artificial money? A friend wants to know.
How well does this hold up with large breed dogs running and playing on it as well as peeing and pooping? Obviously the poop would be picked up but still. Is there a remaining odor? Does it get moldy underneath
It's not sad or unhuman.....for some people like me, my allergies are so bad I have a hard time breathing at night that I can't even cut my own grass in spring to early summer. This looks like a better alternative to concrete. Moreover, I can't believe how well that guy cut the seem.
I'd rather my allergies to cut grass then living beside a homeowner with this. I give it 2-3yrs tops before they stop caring about maintaining it and it ends up soaked in urine/waste and dug up by the dog. As for cutting your own grass, full face mask with correct filters. Something that covers everything, including your eyes. Also, never bring your hands to your face when doing yardwork. Things I wish I knew earlier.
Infield that’s what it’s called I always wondered when watching football games on field with artificial turf when they toe drag or tackle when you see that Black Sandy dirt fly up now I know good vid
CA gets it water from the Colorado river system. Trouble is for decades they have been trying to be a lush green oasis, when in fact much of the state is a desert like Arizona. The drought means they can’t get as much water from the river system and have to conserve usage. Removing lawns is a good thing.
I got a estimate for this is my small back yard that it was crazy expensive. It's stupid crazy that the things that save the planet and it resources are the most expensive to implement. I just moved from Calif to Texas and it seems that all services are more expensive here.
It looks good but, Silica sand and weed block traps the urine smells. Pet installations require great drainage and the right infill materials such as zeolite and envirofill. Many pet installations fail due to lack of information. Pet installations require more maintenance than a regular installation to keep it clean and odor free.
I’m not sure if anybody could help me but I am trying to install synthetic grass on the sidewalk side by the street I have an area 41 feet by about 4 feet I dug out about 8 inches because I needed the dirt for a big flower box I am trying to get a definitive answer as far as the fill I should use someone told me something called RCA ? This has to be the best artificial install tutorial on RUclips and I've looked at many. Awesome 👌
Wow, thanks!
Hello, I'm an Amazon seller, sorry to bother you. Do you need free turf? We're doing a review recently.

One of the best videos I seen on how to lay down turf. Thanks for showing and adding commentary during the process.
12:20 what a beautiful looking yard, and no mowing!!!!👍🏻

can the weed barrier go onto of the gravel/road base?
Actually a crucial step was missed with the seams
That seam cut by hand. Art

The simple green product works great. Aloha Huntington Beach.
Great video guys, I learned a lot that will help me with my DIY winter prep project.
Man. You guys don't cut any corners. That is a LOT of Work! Nice job!
Thanks 👍
You cut corners
A lot of work goes into this. Great install!
This reminds me of installing carpet in a house, kinda cool actually 😄

What plate compactor did you use ? Any best options for plate compactors ?

I have a gopher problem, what do you recommend I have the contractor add to the installation of my artificial turf?
The difference is amazing

Absolutely awesome! Great job guys.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow excellent work.i like to learn about this
Thanks for visiting
How do I calculate how much base gravel I need if I know my square footage and inches I want in depth.
Great job! Too bad you guys aren’t in Florida.
Maybe one day!
Super nice results
Thank you! Cheers!
What manufacturer do you use for the synthetic turf?
Great video!
Thanks!
Where did you purchase the turf, what quality is it, how long can you expect it to look nice?
Check description
Looks great! How long will it last?
20 years
What brush are you using at the end?
I heard there was a shortage on artificial dogs for the artificial lawn. Since it is an artificial lawn, can you pay with artificial money? A friend wants to know.
Yes. You can pay me 100 Bitcoin and I will install artificial lawn for you. I'll even buy my own plane ticket to wherever you live.
I’m curious what the rate is per foot installed in So Cal?
I’m in Utah so I’m not shopping turf prices in California
$10/sqft is average
I may have missed it, but looked several times...what size nails are used to secure the turf to the ground?
6"
Great video! What brand turf do you recommend?
Home Depot
Impressive work!!
May I ask where you get your base material from? I’m near your area
Ewles
How much does a project like this cost ? and how many days does it take ?
Looks awesome. How much does a project like this cost?
2500
2500 seems really cheap. I've put in turf that's less than 1000sq feet, and It's usually over 2k just for the turf, infill, base , nails etc, are more
