Omg! I have the same year GMC Yukon and this happened to me today!! I luckily was home and my shifter was moving freely but car was showing it was in drive! I couldn't turn it back on. I let it roll out of the garage so I would have space if a tow truck needed to come but then I found your video! You were spot on! I got the part for $12.99 and it probably took me 15-20 minutes to put it on. I had a hard time getting the little white piece to pop in properly but I finally got it and pushed it onto the post and voila!!!! I can't believe this little plastic part plays such an important role in the shifting of this giant vehicle! I'm a 56 year-old mom and wife and am pretty happy about this easy and inexpensive fix especially since we are taking the car on vacation tomorrow! Thank you!!!!!
It just happened to me at the car wash and I'm waiting for a wrecker because I'm too fat to get under this Denali XL with the factory running boards....
This was a life saver today when my Suburban went into park fine at Walmart and when I came out … the shifter was slipping up and down and wouldn’t go into gear. My oldest son watched your video and is fixing this now. It looks like it was the bushing kit we needed. Thanks!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you soooo much for this video! I was grabbing my kids from the boys and girls club, tried to shift from drive to park and the shifter released before I got to park and was stuck reverse moving freely up and down. I turned the ignition off and it wouldn’t start. I almost panicked. I was going to call AAA and figure out what mechanic I had to take it to. More money 😫 I decided to Google the issue and came across this. Looked under the car and the link was free. I moved the shifty arm thing up and it moved to park. I got back in the car and was able to start it! Got back under and slid the link on that bolt. The plastic piece was completely worn so I knew it would slip out again. I gently put it in drive and drove to o’reillys. Got the bushing and a file, grabbed a blanket from the back, got under the car and fixed it with my kids still in the car! Took like 10-15 mins under the car (I had a hard time getting the new piece in and it was dark so I used my phones light) but it was pretty easy! I’m actually proud of myself!!! I *really* appreciate this video! Saved me a good amount of money and time!
MY GOD THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!! IT'S 920pm. My truck was STUCK in REVERSE after a night out with my wife! Fixed it in 20 minutes because of you, that's with running to autozone and back!!! Thanks so much!!!
Wow, Will! My 2012 GMC Yukon had this exact problem and were it not for your video I probably would have had it towed and paid a ton of money for a simple fix. On the way to where the Yukon was stuck, I found your video and stopped at the local auto parts store. I was able to install the bushing following your video in about five minutes and get the Yukon back on the road. Thank you!
Wow man. This may be the most help I’ve ever received from RUclips. Holy cow man. I had the dash all tore apart before I found this. I replaced my shift lever a few months ago because the tow button wire broke. So I thought maybe the bolt that connects the lever to the shift cable broke. I had to buy two of these packs of bushings. The rubber on the first one was really soft and got deformed easily. The second pack worked right away. Thank you dude. I own a pressure washing company and I’m a one man operation. Something like a vehicle problem can be a huge problem
Man, I appreciate you making this video, like everyone else I came out to my Yukon and it wouldn’t shift gears, the part is now $21.99 but spot on! Thank you
Worked out perfectly! Spent hours using different dorman part number 14047 recommended by autozone. Needless to say I never got it to fit. Watched this video went back to same store bought dorman part number 14104 and finished in 5 minutes.
Great video! Same thing happened to my 2013 Yukon today. Had just picked it up from the garage yesterday for an unrelated issue. Watched your vid, looked underneath and saw the problem right away! Walked to the store and got the same kit. Thanks !!!

Excellent demo, Will! I've never seen that done before, it's fun to understand the options. I wondered if that D shaped plastic ring out the back was there to allow one to put some kind of safety clip or zip tie onto it to prevent if from coming off. In any case, as you know those things are really tight and normally very hard to remove.
Thank you for the compliment! that's a very good question, wish I had the answer for you. I was trying to do some research behind this similar thought earlier
This is exactly what happened to me. I thankfully found this video right away, looked under the vehicle and sure enough that's all it was. Took me about five minutes to remove the old brittle cracked one and put the new one in. It was a bit of work to get the new one in, and I used a screwdriver gently as well to coax it in to place. Mine wasn't hanging down because it didn't have a chain entangled so I had to find the area first. It was off but still tucked up out of clear sight from just looking under the Yukon quickly. But sliding under the vehicle it was easy to see.
Who knew a simple piece could cause so much trouble, right? At least you were able to tackle it like a pro! I'm glad to hear you found these video demonstrations helpful. It is my problem what you identified in your video I am waiting for the auto parts to open it is Sunday morning and I am going to fix it thank you for your great information and leading me to fix this it will be a very cheap cost 20 bucks to fix you guys Are awesome
I have the same truck happened to me last night seems to be what my problem is I'm going to try to fix today thank you for the info I've just subscribed to your channel you guys are awesome
Nice video, this is the third time in 2 years, yes I cleaned up the linkage shaft and everything else. Maybe the chain they had on it was to try and hold the cable on..I'm going to try all-weather zip ties through bushing end this time! I'm carrying a floor jack and stand with me ,this is ridiculous.
seen your short about this truck so i clicked on your channel & instantly subbed & watched the video about said truck lol i think ima be a longtime subscriber 😁
Awesome thank you. I'm in a different country (central America) in the mountains, and that feeling when your truck won't shift is a very unsettling feeling. Thankfully I'm only missing the little plastic bushing. Got some wire and wrapped it up maybe better than stock! I'm in a 2010 Z71 suburban and same exact area if anyone else is looking. Now to try and find the actual plastic bushing 😅

Keep putting em up I'll keep watching. I like your OPEN logo, it catches my eye. About the repair, I've used the dreaded Dorman parts bushings several times with really good luck. Seems they can do plastic parts OK.
Hi. Thanks for the video! I have an 2007 Yukon Denali with the 6 speed. Dorman is saying this kit 14104 is ONLY for the UPPER bushing and that they do not make the lower for some odd reason. Can you confirm if this will work on the lower bushing of a 2007? Thx Scott

Does it seem to come off easier than expected?
You need to make certain it’s installed properly and fully locked. Orbit will come right off. Make sure the groove is clean.

What is the part name of the arm that the shifter bushing connects to. I want to replace that on mine cause it keeps popping off
Good question. Linkage maybe or lever. One of those should come back with something
