I never had much luck with roses until I started buying from Heirloom Roses. Their plants are VIGOROUS. I must have 20 of their roses growing now, and despite my negligence they are all blooming their heads off.
I've purchased many roses from Heirloom Roses. Every one of them has thrived. They are so healthy! For me, they are definitely worth the price and they DO have great sales.
100% agree. You can tell they take the care of the roses they sell seriously. David Austin potted roses from DA on the other hand, not so much unfortunately.
I've purchased 12 different types of roses from Heirloom Roses and they're all doing great. I recommend Leonardo davinci and Julia Child roses to anyone who has never cared for them before, they seem the most beginner friendly.
Earth Angel, Queen of Sweden, Lyda Rose, Summer Romance, Amazing Grace, Jude the Obscure All from Heirloom Roses and all very well packaged and the plants themselves and were very high quality. They are priced a little high but you are buying quality plants. Highly recommend them.
I am about to get my roses from them in the mail tomorrow! I got the Plum Perfect and Beverly. I am super excited!! I am brand new to growing roses and did hours of research and Heirloom Roses looked to be the best option! It's mid June so I'm hoping I'll get a few buds and flowers this year, but we'll see!
i order david austin roses from david austin. the roses are cheaper and much larger, BUT, you have to wait for only two times out of the year to receive. i think the roses from heirloom are expensive and small, but you can't find those roses in common areas or even at my local nurseries, so it is what it is. i can say if you make sure to fertilize them and put them in GOOD soil, you'll have no problems. I recently purchased polka and climbing eden. they survived the extreme heat while traveling to texas. both were small and had no leaves. It took only a week for both to start getting new leaves. I repotted them into a terra cotta pot about the same size as the plastic and used Foxfarm soil and also espoma biotone starter.
I'm growing Griffith Buck roses from Heirloom. 3rd year for 2 plants, 2nd year for 3 plants. Beautiful roses, winter-hardy without protection in Iowa. I could not be happier.
Just a tip! Use Elmer's all-purpose glue on the tips of cut canes to seal out cane borers🙂💐 The sweet little purple rose that you showed at the end seemed to have a small hole in one of the tips of the canes. Love the video thanks for the information!
I love Heirloom Roses! Watch for sales, people, they have great ones! I know the original owner. These roses are worth it. I have The Alnwick Rose, Distant Drums, Graham Thomas, and Polar Express. The growth, as you show, is exponential because the rose focuses on roots first. They shoot up really fast and I’ve always had blooms the first year in the ground.🌹🥰Thanks for this great review! Subbed!
I got Sunita roses from Heirloom Roses many years ago when we bought our first house. I was really impressed with them and how well they survived my very beginner gardening skills at the time. We have since moved and I bought 3 new roses from Heirloom Roses last summer (Morning Has Broken). They didn't get as big as I was hoping last year, but the flowers were beautiful and VERY fragrant and the plants all seemed very healthy. They already have lots of new growth now and hopefully this year with being already established they'll reach their size potential!
I’ve built a very large collection garden all with Heirloom Roses in a region close to their home in Oregon and truly a showstopper spot with tremendous success over the years there. I’m starting over after moving to the gulf coast and a different growing zone. Different varieties this time with my choices based on different conditions in humid HOT and buggy conditions. I’m hopeful for equal success. Heirloom roses are simply amazing and barring any missteps on my part I’ll be reporting back in a few months. Organic fertilizers are a must as you said in the video. I top dress on occasion with ‘rabbit pellet’ alfalfa as well.
Regarding pricing: Is it worth it? I have (years past) resorted to 'nursery' grafted roses that were pretty to start but failed miserably and never lasted. I moved to the Northwest and was quickly schooled in all things roses (thanks to Heirloom and some humdinger rosarians). I had nothing but awestruck visitors throughout the spring into fall. I go for disease resistant, low maintenance, and Highly fragrant. My penchant is collecting OLD roses. the price? The return on your investment is amazing...shop for your zone and what you are looking for and read the reviews. Watch for the sales. This weekend only is between 20 to 50% off certain varieties. I'm building a totally new garden in the south that should be an interesting learning curve but feeling very hopeful. Will I add some of the other antique rose purveyors? Yes, of course, but my loyalty and bias lies with Heirloom. I only wish the fields and gardens were open as they used to be in years past. And golly I wish I could find that Kenyon Mallet weeder that I bought there years ago. My favorite tool. Thanks for you questions.
I have just purchased from them for the first time. I am so glad you mentioned the granular fertilizer! I'll use the stuff I got on some photinia bushes that need feeding.
I’ve ordered many roses from Heirloom Roses and I love them to pieces. Because of our local wildlife, I can only grow them in pots, and I have yet to successfully overwinter them…something I’m sure is user error and not a reflection on the company, but the roses I’ve received from them are super healthy. I’m a fan and if I ever figure out how to overwinter my container roses, I’ll probably cover every inch of my deck with them. In sum, I couldn’t love and recommend Heirloom more than I do.
I just ordered from Heirloom Roses for the first time. Ordered a rose from another company and was so disappointed to receive something that I didn’t order. I email them to get a replacement only to receive the same incorrect rose a second time…uuuugggg! I gave up and then found Heirloom Roses and decided to take a leap of faith and try again. My rose should arrive on the 19th of Aug. Fingers crossed that I get what I ordered.
I bought 4 roses from Heirloom which I planted around May. My first try at roses. Its now July 15. All of them are thriving. The climber is an Old Garden Rose and is the only one that hasn't budded and bloomed. Because it's an OGR, I'm not surprised and expect good blooms next year. Roses: Koko Loco, Douglas Gandy, First Crush, Coupe d'Hebe (the climber). I have a Star of the Nile on the way. Fingers crossed that she and Douglas Gandy get along because they are going next to each for sunset colors! 😊
I bought two hybrid roses and planted them here in Georgia middle of November. I planted them exactly like the video instructed. The we’re doing great but we got long bout of freezing weather. I can only pray the will thrive 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I got “Hot Cocoa” floribunda last year. It’s beyond beautiful and bloomed right up until December. This year I ordered Princess Elise a shrub variety. She’s doing ok. Had flower buds a month after planting, but I had aphids and now some black spot on leaves.
Hey, my Leonardos doing ok, I noticed that fall planting is not good for me, roses came back very weak In spring, I had some froze over winter. Decided for myself do spring planting from now on. Anyway this year had a lot of bacterial infection on stems. Wishing you good and productive planting
I have sweet afton Francis meillan and earth angel and they are gorgeous and I love that when I cut them they last up to ten days if you change water every other day
I bought 6 don juan climbers from them and just planted them last week. They arrived just like the one you showed in the video as i expected. The only thing i was disappointed in was the amount of roots, or lack thereof. If i remember correctly only 1 or 2 had roots that mostly filled the pot. The others i was lucky if they filled 1/4 - 1/3 of the pot. When i tipped the plants out of the pot to plant them it was mostly just loose soil. Its too early yet to say much otherwise and im sure theyll be good long term but i was expecting a pot full of roots just like almost any other plant ive bought at local stores.
Heirloom roses come swaddled like a baby, to keep them safe during transport, so no worries there, and all the ones Ive bought, have been very healthy and are still thriving years later.
❤love their great collection of old roses😊l'd wish l am in USA to order resistant varieties but, l am in Malaysia. My Evelyn by David Austin is flowering now😊 l did put in some mint leaves that they recommended & my rose isn't attacked by aphids at all😊great tips from Heirloom roses😊l am growing Peppermint too😊
Thanks for sharing your experience, i just bought 8 from them, they look small when arrival, no leaves and the canes are so weak, i am not sure they can make it, it has been for two weeks.
Hello Sophie! We do defoliate our roses right before shipping because that signals to the plant to focus on its overall health while being shipped instead of focusing on producing blooms. How are your roses doing?
Purchased Angel. Face from Heirloom, came with black canes, dead. Asked for warranty exchange. Angel Face was no longer available so chose Love Potion. Expected delivery 4/26 after 5/1 I sent an email asking why I had never received. Was replied it was unavailable (after initially being confirmed) So I chose another rose. It came and seems okay. No blackberry canes. My gripe is if I hadn’t reached out I’d still be waiting. Before the original owners the Clements sold to these people, you could visit their display garden, see the roses and their habits and then go to the nursery and choose your rose. You knew what you were getting. now it’s all on line and I suppose it’s bigger and they have less control over the quality. I will no longer be doing business with them.

I’m not a happy customer. 8 months later: The 3 climbing roses did well but the 3 others did not. Getting them to actually honor their so called guarantee is like pulling teeth. I won’t order from them again. In fact, I won’t order plants in general and have them shipped to me. This experience has soured me. All 6 roses were planted as directed. Of the 3 that never did anything but sit there, I requested a replacement for one…. the worst one. They said no. I protested and they agreed to replace it. It’s coming in April. Not a fan of this company.
This sounds like a propaganda video for Heirloom roses. There are a couple of more content owners who are doing such propaganda videos. Would you be able to provide an unbiased update of how your plants are currently doing? I’ve spent a lot of money in these roses. They are still patriotically small after 6 months. No blooms and the leaves are infested( maybe Becca’s it’s been raining. My hybrid teas are doing well and I’m beating up myself for buying these teeny 1 gallon roses

I've noticed bone meal has slightly different ratios depending on brand. Does this matter???
Pre covid and some years ago I actually went to their location and saw various roses and how they grow them
