I'm in zone 9a, East coast of Florida and struggle with roses.
(I moved here from your favorite town of Fort Bragg, and had a gorgeous rose garden). I ordered 3 Heirloom roses about a month ago and still have to plant them in containers, so chicken!
I know you will have total success! I bought a thornless climber, Zephirine Drouhin, and may try that one in the ground..we have really sandy soil and really have to amend the soil.
Love your friendship with Janey, hope you can continue with your visits! (I'm going to stow away in one of your suitcases on your next trip to Fort Bragg!)

Can't wait to see how your roses do. Thanks for education on own root vs grafted, I'm a rose lover but (insert embarrassed face) never educated myself on this. I get most of my David Austin roses from David Austin, Will have to go look to see if they're grafted (will they say?). A few of them this year have sent up huge stalks/limbs that then break off right at the ground if it's too windy. I planted a few of the Eden roses early spring and got several blooms (so pretty) but they've been slow to grow. And given our wet early summer here at the coast Im dealing with rust :( Such a gorgeous rose tho! Thx for great insight!

Im excited about this I live in zone 4-3 and we have harsh winter, I have 1 rose that did not survive the harsh winter and it did revert to it's base graft which ends up to be a vigorous climbing rose instead of a peach colored bush like rose. I will definitely get one, they have a couple of options even for zone 3 which im super excited. I definitely love my Koko Loko rose, Hot Cocao Rose, Blue Girl Rose, Smoke Rings, Hot Paprika, 2 knockout roses, a rose tree which is doing decent, and 2 dwarf sized ground cover roses with 1 I rescued from being thrown out from most of it being dead; now it's growing all happy in my yard. Would love to have a white rose or a pink rose in my yard next

In the past from another plant grower we bought roses but you finally convince us to buy from Heirloom. I had Al, order one Eden Claiming and another Joseph Coat claimer. Tuesday mornings is my quilting group at the senior citizens center and my friend was waiting for me. At our first home I planted 12 bushes. Non at the second home it had a pool that practically took the whole backyard 😖😡 and small front yard. I worked then
so I didn’t have much time for gardening. Now we are both retired and with plenty of time to garden. Specially plants we like and enjoy.
We enjoy watching and learning from you. You make it fun. Thank you 🌻
