I really like the composition of that verse. He establishes that his need is greater than what he wants but then says that his want is basically limitless. In my opinion he is saying that his want of her and his need of her is immeasurable!

I posted this comment on someone else's channel who featured something or other about Glen Campbell. Someone may find it interesting.
I grew up listening to the labors of The Wrecking Crew. And I can remember when Glen Campbell broke out in his solo career. Try to imagine that back then there was the British invasion going on. Every week there seemed to be something new, something moving goal posts. Too, that most of us only heard this stuff on pocket transistor radios, crappy tabletop and alarm clock radios and car radios that were barely better but diminished by all of the sounds of driving. So, when Glen went off on his solo career, to me at least, it was just OK.
One day in 1967 my oldest brother came back to the states for a visit. He is a captain merchant seaman. He gave dad a 2 track sound-on-sound stereo reel to reel tape machine.
My dad used to play guitar. I remember, as a little shaver, him singing "You Are My Sunshine" to me while I sat on his knee. Man, did I soak up those lyrics that my dad sang just for me.
Anyways, my dad disappeared that night. No one knew where he was. About an hour later he shows up with all this stuff. Two 8 inch cabinet speakers, two microphones, headphones, an empty reel and two reel to reel prerecorded albums. One of Glen Campbell's 'By The Time I Get To Phoenix' and the other Herb Alpert an the Tijuana Brass' 'Whipped Cream And Other Things.' He put it all together and cued up Campbell.
Oh... My... god. The first song being 'By The Time I Get To Phoenix.' The first thing that blew my mind was the true dead sound. Non sound that emanated from nothingness. No clicks, pops, hiss, fading in and out, channel bleed over, hum or some jerk jockey talking over the song. Nothing. Just glorious dead sound that really isn't sound. It must have been the same feeling that guy got when he discovered the number "zero." Discovering that to which all things come after. That, to which, will change the world.
Then, the dynamics of the sound itself. It is a true thrill to hear studio recorded stereo in analog on a reel to reel analog stereo for the first time. And that song was presented as intended. Which, all things considered, was the best song I ever heard. Oh, and when I put on the headphones IT WAS EVEN BETTER!
Of course, it ruined my appreciation for all music except for what was on those two tapes. I often thought how different those popular songs, and some I didn't like, that were murdered on AM radio and the junk sold to us so we could listen, would sound on reel to reel. I knew how much I was missing and there was nothing I could do about it.
Naturally I told my friends how great Glen Campbell's new album was. They all thought I was square and crazy. And I told them how great 'Whipped Cream And Other Things' was. From then on, I think they let me hang out with them out of pity - for old times sake. But I knew better... I became a musician because of Glen Campbell and 'You Are My Sunshine.'
Oh, how I miss my dad. 'Everything I own' By Bread.
So, there's a story that can be added to Glen Campbell's legacy. As insignificant it is to everyone. Except, of course, to me.

To see clearly the instant transformation of famous professional musicians at Glenn Campbell's huge, subtle talents speaks volumes of respect. It starts on the first note and they're not just listening, but absorbing the beauty of the best guitar player in a room full of very high talent.
There, as many such world famous guitarists and songwriters have said, is one of the top five guitarists there has been. Such as typically highly acclaimed guitarists like Eddie Van Halen, Willy Nelson, Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Paul McCartney, James Taylor and Steve Walsh. They understand.
That our last two generations of youth don't know Campbell is beyond their thinking. That children elevate pop stars higher is a tragedy.

Glen’s resume is STACKED!! Between The Wrecking Crew, The Beach Boys, and his own catalog and TV show, he’s truly one of kind!

Amazing that he was so highly respected among the top tier musicians known as the "Wrecking Crew". Musicians that could sightread & play pretty much any type of music. Most came from the jazz and big band era. Gives you a measure of his talent that they all recognized. Glen couldn't read music but played from his heart.

I grew up listening to Glenn and Neil Diamond on the 70’s and sang their songs into a hairbrush. “I need you more than want you” is still one of the greatest lyrics ever and Glenn’s guitar was so fantastic. The documentary The Wrecking Crew really showed what a great musician Glenn was before he became a superstar. The man didn’t read music and played by ear and that’s amazing.

What I love best about these country star gatherings is when Glen plays and the others realize this is one fantastic genius on all aspects of his entertaining all of us. He is so perfect on his guitar playing, you see the other guys who play just so happy and mesmerized as to how he can play so perfectly and in detail live, on the spot. He is truly a professional musician and singer, and handsome entertainer.

I heard this song when it first put Glenn on the map when I was a little boy and have heard many versions thereafter. However, this rendition with the back-up band and Janie Fricke's harmonies added to Glenn's flawless enunciation of every syllable (like only Glenn can do) and his fret-work fills on the guitar, may be the best recording ever of this timeless classic.
