When your daily relationship with your friends is "he's just that nice guy that works over on that production line..." it goes through an incredible change when this kind of opportunity occurs. In one moment they stop and gape at "who is this guy???" It is soooo much fun and so rewarding to surprise your friends with that unknown talent. Music and musicianship is one thing that can be so rewarding regardless of your age. I started playing clarinet & sax in a dixieland group when I was about 7 or 8 and singing when I was a bit older. Most of the people I knew had no idea. It doesn't have to be on a large stage like Jeff was on but to your unsuspecting friends it's very startling and a whole lot of fun!! Music just knows no limits.

The guitar was my first Love ❤️ after I hung up my baseball glove.
I have played now 55 years. So many guitars have passed through my hands. I guess I am a guitariser.
Just when you think you couldn’t love this man’s work and art more❤
This man is gifted…period! Such beautiful talent.
Jesus… Christ. That was better than ANY country song I’ve heard in the past five years. I’m speechless.
I'm am in awe, tears in my eyes. The last time I saw this guy he was driving a dog. That was incredible.
As a musician, the most encouraging and moving part was the audience and the host's reaction. One man with an acoustic guitar, his voice and an original song moving people to tears. Great stuff!
the host's reaction was plain stupid.
@@barflytom3273 , whatta f*** is your problem? Your comment is plain stupid, not Kelly's reaction! She's being real and relatable! What the f*** do you want?
As a guitar player I have to say I just absolutely love that performance and the sentiment. God bless you Mr Daniels!
Holy moly!! That was the most beautiful song I’ve heard in YEARS!
This song needs to be recorded and made available to us all. Awesome!
It is! It's on his 2010 album Keep It Right Here. I just found it on Spotify.
That was one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Beautiful!!
"You turned my never evers into maybe I just might"
BAAARS!! 🗣
"I ain't holding you, my friend, it's you who's holding me"
I never thought of it that way as a guitarist, and now I wonder why. What a great line.
Best country song to ever grace her stage. It’s more than her show.
...what a love song.. be still my heart
I have played guitar all my life. And Jeff Daniels just described it all in this most beautiful and poetic song! I was not prepared for what was coming when he started playing the song! Bravo!
There is a difference between entertaining and sharing ones soul. If you can tell the difference you are blessed rather than entertained. Thank You for sharing.
Oh, beautifully said!
Jeff Daniels establishes himself as a serious actor , then decides to dabble in comedy in the movie Dumb and Dumber and just kills it. Now he picks up a guitar and performs this masterpiece that he wrote!! What can't he do? Love it!
I heard he never bowled a perfect 300 haha
He was in Escanaba in Da Moon Light before dumb and dumber if my memory serves me correctly . It was quite a funny film in fact one of my favorites
He's a natural artist. If he puts his mind to it he can do anything in the arts. Alot of us are like that
he makes a terrible lasagna apparently
@@A9S15J5E9M806he actually wrote Escanaba in Da Moon Light.
Nothing about that was my style at all and yet I was so captivated. I’m not even sure I inhaled or exhaled. Absolutely beautiful!
*whispers...perhaps it WAS your style...you just needed to find it 😉
I had the same reaction. Not my style of music but still just blown away! 🙏
Hello
Jeff impresses me whenever I see him. We need more Jeff Daniels in the world.
That was amazing! People will tune in to Kellys show just for guests like that. Big big bow to Jeff Daniels!!

Oh my goodness! He made my eyes well up. Bless him he’s amazing. 💖
XOXOXOXOXOXXOO MAY 6, 2024
A multitalented genius. I'm blown away.
Check out The Lookout (2007), if you want to see the "genius" of Jeff Daniels on the big-screen.
I have tears in my eyes!!! Jefff!! Wow!! Absolutely Stunning!!
I have watched this for almost 6 hours on repeat. This is incredible. The melody of the song and his voice match so well.
He's got tons of albums. Really incredible stuff.
@@muppetsstoogesfan1 He said he's written around 450 songs. Most of which will never see the light of day or he's forgotten.
Here is a longer version. His voice is absolutely amazing. This one is live at Martin guitars.

Kelly was genuinely speechless, I love it.
Not really she spoken half way through the performance which prompted the audience to clap
Kelly was shocked she didn't think Jeff could play such a tender song like he did she became abit emotional towards the end
@@donjohn2695 why is that such a suprise though
She wasn't speechless. She spoke through it and ruined the performance.
I could see her as a little girl.
Jeff is great! Anyone that was really paying attention to The Newsroom knows the man has real musical talent. Now get Hugh Laurie on and ask him for a song.
Hugh Laurie is really good.
It's funny. I've been on a Jeff Daniels binge this week and then there's this. Another multi talent! Love this song. It needs to be on the radio. ❤️
Or listen to his solo stuff
The Newsroom was a great show.
YES!!!!!!! 💯
This is my new favorite song.
This song is so heartfelt and I truly can resonate with it as someone who also plays the guitar 💓 Beautiful!
Wow just wow ❤
🎉🎉🎉
There is a kindness about this man...🇿🇦
We need a Clarkson and Daniel’s collab!!
I second that!!
You know she's probably asking him if she can learn it and do the song on a Kellyoke, but as a duo.
Absolutely on THIS song !
That’s actually a good idea!
That song is stuck in my head now. 😊
Jeff never disappoints... so much talent... film, music, tv he has been amazing in every role...
He is so talented I have always love him
He goes, "not bad?" Lol. Understatement! Amazing
As a lifelong guitar player, I’m crying like a baby!!! Those words were so beautiful and hit me so deep!!! Thank you Jeff! Im learning this so I can sing it to my guitar 🎸 ❤
Niiiice
I had the same immediate thought. My eyes were welling up and I thought I can learn and play that. I would care what human was listening because I would be singing to heard... but rather felt by my 30 yr long companion :)
There were glimpses of his musical talent in his show The Newsroom. I wish they reboot it. Such a great show and a great song. I love her reaction at 0:54 lol
That wonderful show of what could have been (!?)
Yup, back when I still had hope for such things..
But now it's all about a song. A sad song that's still being written..
Ive played guitar for about 15 years or so. I'll tell you what, ive had some pretty deep conversations with my guitars, both good and bad. This song is wonderfully written and from the heart
When a talent writes a song for itself, this is what happens.. tears of joy from strangers. Brilliant
Love that Mr Jeff Daniels❤
I swear that guy can do ANYTHING. What a talent.
Somebody please convince this man to record an album
He has…two? Maybe more.
He’s recorded like 10 albums
I had no idea. I need this song ❤❤
@@UncleRicoOSUokay just watched speed and now I search for this guy on Spotify, should duet with Taylor
@@shazanali692he would never lol.
Thank you for the song, Mr. Daniels. You blew Kelly away! And although she is always nice to her guests, she does not have a tearful reaction to many of her guests.
Just a blessing to hear a great song.
I loved him before, now he got more layers to love.
Jeff Daniels, bravo with a standing ovation! You have made me cry. Immediately thought of Johnny Cash (Hurt), Dave Mason (We just disagree) and John Denver (Gospel Changes).
There is an essence to his music that washes over you with such emotion.
If the torch has been passed, it has been given to Mr. Daniels.
I've felt what you've meant
Turns out HE is the cool musician uncle! 😄 That was awesome. Happy to find this song in Spotify!
Wait. I'm sorry, am I the only one confusing him with the actor of Full House? My bad! Still, an awesome song and musician 👏🏼
I thought the same thing at first!😄
Kelly made my eyes water with every performance on her American Idol run. To play her a song and get that reaction is priceless. Go Jeff.
WOW...I had no idea he could even play the guitar. He's really good and I love his mellow chilled out personality.
Not sure how or why this showed up in my feed, but I'm truly glad it did. What a wonderful surprise. Great job, Jeff!
I had to send this song to my neighbor because he’s always in his garage sitting in a rocker playing his guitar and he loves it. He enjoys it so much, so thank you Jeff Daniels thank you Kelly Clarkson I know he’s going to enjoy this song. God bless you guys.
The look on Kelly's face says it all. Such an awesome actor and human being.
