What I admire the most about her is her doing her own thing in her mid-30s. It says a lot about the culture that 30s is 'too old' for a lot of people. Why should more life experience be a hindrance in any way?
As someone in his late 30's, it makes me so happy that new music that completely sweeps me off my feet doesnt necessarily need to be created from someone in their twenties.
It’s sad when someone’s age is the main thing people are saying about anyone…when a scientist makes a breakthrough nobody talks about their age unless they’re ridiculously young (in their teens) which is atypical. If age or dating is all anyone has to say about you, your contributions to the world probably don’t matter as much as it’s hyped to seem. An illusory bubble. This much is proven when on twitter, something with as little as 1.5k tweets is “trending” & blown out the wazoo as if it’s the center of the world. Or fashion magazines mostly nobody reads are posited as the center of some ‘cool world’ everyone should aspire to & everyone is on the outside looking in. Obsolete societies.
I lost about 6 years of my 20s to injury and illness. I am 30. I fully entirely do not plan for this to be the rest of my life. Bring it on, ive gotten through much worse than "ouu my backs a lil sore"
The way that this woman speaks just screams out that she's full of genuine intellect, open-mindedness and raw insight. Words can't describe how much I admire her.
I'm 23 and already felt like I'm left behind because I didn't become a good enough artist yet. She making it while being 30 makes me happy and gives me power.
Definitely you have power and it's never too late. That being said her band was big enough to be featured on a major ipod commercial in the mid 2000s, so she is certainly not just getting established now.
Woman of visual imagery, she's so genius when speaking, you can really tell she's hand-on when she made this album, very symbolical in every detail. Shes a mother
I love hearing this woman speak - such a soothing tone to her voice but she also speaks with an elegance that's almost beyond her years. one of my fav newer artists
She is spot on about Dido and her "comforting presence". Something Dido always captured really well was this sort of quiet melancholy or sadness. Her music was somber and oftentimes sad, but it was never overwrought or melodramatic. It was just this quiet stillness that was still warm and comforting. And that really resonated with me as a depressed teenager and still resonates with me as I near my 30s.
Thinking of women who started successful solo careers in their 30s, Björk immediately comes to mind. Both such singular minds, here's to hoping Caroline goes down as just as legendary an artist!
I love the energy caroline exudes, regal, ethereal, wise etc so comforting It was a privilege to see her live for the spiraling tour. I painted a shirt and showed it to her during the VIP Q&A My life literally changed after this concert. Literally that same night I will say, the venue, the atmosphere was sooo private and beautiful truly it felt like we transported elsewhere while she sung and connected with the crowd
Caroline is truly an artist. Her energy and creativity feel so captivating and authentic- her music seems to come from a spiritual realm deep within the soul. I couldn’t stop my eyes from welling up and my heart from bursting out of my chest when I saw her live for the first time.
Where and when did you see her live? I can imagine it was epic. She reminds me of Tori Amos and Aimee Mann, but totally unique, authentic and in “command” of her own creative genius.
She reminds me A lot of Imogen Heap. Both true artists who seem completely immersed in every aspect of their craft. What a collab that would be… if it hasn’t already happened 🤔
I love her so much, what she said and admited about being dropped out by her previous label and that being the best thing happening to her in her entire life was moving to hear.
Just here to show some love for the song 'Sunset' and cry a little (maybe a lot) about Dido's verse on 'Fly To You' which legitimately made me cry on the road while listening to it. What a "comforting presence" indeed!
I think I love her. Most of her songs have deep meanings, awesome vocal performances, stunning visuals (and full of symbolisms). She has really something special, I'm sure she is going to have a unstoppable career.
Loved the discussion of genre and it really shows in her work and the work she did with Chairlift. SO many different influences that blow people's minds because she refuses to stay within the lines
Hearing her talk matches the vibe i get from her music. Unique, organic. Someone that understands even the language and diction you use is coloring the canvas. Art is a vibe.
Saw Caroline for the second time last night and she blew me away as always ❤️. I’m obsessed with Desire, and her incredible mind. Love hearing her thought process and admire her steadfast nature. Chairlift, Ramona Lisa, Caroline- visual and sonic wonders. A pure artist. Also, PC music forever!
There is something so motivating and super eyecatching about her energy that makes you naturally listen to her and then you start paying attention to every thought she articulates… so hypnotizing and enriching. I love her so much
Such a good interview really enjoyed the flow of the conversation. I love how she describes her experiences with this new album and her past experiences. Also exact feels about dido❤
@@o0alias0o I get that she doesn't want to boxed in (which mind you is a pretty common view of many artists) by it doesn't mean that she isn't appealing to it. Her take seemed pretty hipster to me, like claiming that you can't be defined by genres and that you never think about it but like lets be real her individual stuff and chairlift were both pop music of some kind, maybe not the same, but still pop (dream pop, indie pop etc). Also like as the interviewer was saying many artists would make the same claim so it wasn't weird for him to ask about it despite her hostile approach.
I saw her recently in Philly- one of best live artist I have ever seen. I have not felt anything like that since I accidentally saw Solange in Seattle! If you can still catch one of her shows do it! It is also visually BEAUTIFUL! 🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋

Genres actually exist and stem from journalism, specifically reviewing performances and then having to write about it, it was extremely hard to expound to a reader what you saw last night at a club or bar without the advent of the internet so that they get an idea of what the music is like while reading words. Once you say a band plays rock or punk it gives the reader a starting point.
And that’s very telling that he did his job well, idk why the comments are complaining his interviewing skills. If he didn’t probe, we’d get the same answers from other interviews she’s done b4 this.😊
@@whizzardblizzard5696 So often I've noticed that he will basically re-explain or repeat back but in a different way what a guest has just said, which doesn't really result with an elaboration. I find that to be annoying.
This album is giving me such year 2000 nostalgia. Brings back memories of vacation in berlin listening to aqua, watching the RHCP Californication video and wearing zip-off shorts/pants.

So interesting about her saying Spotify inventing hyperpop. I’ve heard the name of the genre for a while but haven’t ever thought about it for marketing or even just a data collecting method.
