havent's seen the video yet but just wanted to let yall know that caroline polachek is THE moment rn she has one of the most stable and powerful artistic visions rn and is doing a hella lot achieving it. her label shouldve pushed desire i want to turn into you wayyy more, it was totally grammy-worthy this time
Caroline Polachek’s self-concept and point of view are so strong, it’s impossible not to be inspired by her, regardless of the medium you work in! I’ve never made music in my life but she’s a huge inspiration in my illustration /design practices
As someone who has been incredibly inspired by her unwavering dedication to the process and fulfilling her own artistic vision since 2015, it’s so gratifying to see everyone finally give her some recognition. She’s truly one of a kind and a rare kind of artist I fear we are seeing less and less of. Her music is more than a product or experience, it’s something more. It’s evident by how lived in and well developed every aspect of her work is that she isn’t just a one trick artist. That being said there’s a few things I’d like to correct if I may…. 1) bruises was initially debuted and released in 2006, not 2008. I love her rendition of spring is coming with a strawberry in the mouth! It was so beautiful! You should listen to the orginal version by operating theatre if you haven’t ! So good
I discovered Caroline through watching the amanaemonsia music video after going on RUclips music deep dive. got obsessed with chairlift and then found more of her music. so hot your hurting my feelings is my favorite song. also the video of Caroline singing at swans is such a vibes.
I found her through chairlift and was immediately obsessed. even in those early days she was so multi faceted, from her choreo to her Melodie’s and using her voice as an instrument. got obsessed with Ramona Lisa for sooooo long and that project was what really made me FALL IN LOVE, I was a huge synth nerd and hearing her talk about her synthesis process was inspiring and therapeutic. Pang came out and at a perfect time for me since I was into hyper pop adjacent acts like Sophie and 100 gecs and got me through pre pandemic and the pandemic itself. she wears her influences like Kate bush, bjork, so vividly while making her own fresh addition to the pop canon. I love how open she is towards genre and influences and not seeing anything superior to the other but all sound and aesthetic being on the same intellectual level. love her eternally.
THIS-- "I love how open she is towards genre and influences and not seeing anything superior to the other but all sound and aesthetic being on the same intellectual level." so beautifully said. so rare, so wonderful
Caroline Polachek has completely changed and gave me an entirely new perspective on how I view music. It's not necessarily that she changed the way I viewed music, but she brought out the way I've always WANTED to view music (the way that was changed with influence by the media and peoples opinions that just don't understand). Upon deleting all my social media for a bit and taking down all my past music, I immediately started getting Caroline Polachek recommendations on youtube, spotify, even soundcloud. I like to think of it as a sign honestly
ive had an ongoing obsession with her for the past year or so now and I can tell my friends and roommates are annoyed LMAO. but currently i've been obsessed with the production on butterfly net and its subtle transition into smoke, and every other song on desire
I found her on my Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify, a couple months before she blew up on TikTok. The album Pang will always be special to me because it got me through a difficult time in my life. My top song for 2023 was also Pretty In Possible but I think my #1 song is Look at Me Now. I would love to hear her live.
Hell yes I love when she says limits are very inspiring because I feel that like it flexes the creative mind like one small example I think of is how I like thrifting like it really feels like a creative experience looking through things not knowing what you get and inspires me a lot especially I like to sew so it inspires my pieces alot
you have a very vibrant and lovely way of talking! I really needed to see something like this today as I'm learning new things and sometimes I struggle with consistency, but your video inspired me not to give up, thank you! sending good energy your way!
I immediately connected with you on your video essay and found myself talking back to the screen because I SIMPLY RESONATED! 🧡 thank you for this gushing and informative video
i really needed this video, i feel like a big part of learning how to produce is resisting yourself too in terms of maybe not being able to create the 100% vision you had in mind. And to just keep going and let it evolve in front of you
This is such a sweet, generous video! I love the commentary and I especially love to see music critique/commentary from a woman working and creating in the industry!! Thank you 😊

That is so true, so rare do we see artists inspire across multiple mediums so effortlessly. Very cool to hear
Fr!! I’m a Fine Art photographer and her music has def helped me tap into some funky headspaces

Thank you for featuring my playlist! It made me emotional!
Oh my gosh thanks for making it 💖🫶 It's been such a delight to listen and comb through, appreciate you taking the time to anthologize
10:40 I imagine that's why some of the videos for Pang have a Vevo watermark on the thumbnail, but in the middle of the list they just stop.
