Given that one of Caroline’s more iconic, meme-status lines is “Show me your banana, nanananananana” I’m pretty sure you have to wear a banana suit now
the banana jokes are so funny cause in her first album Pang, she has a song were she says "show me the banana" and ppl used to bring inflatable bananas in the crowd so i guess it kinda makes sense LOL (speaking of Pang, i would love a reaction to that album, its a masterpiece)
at about 5:10, Dad says her voice sounds like it's moving through a empty house like the wind -- Caroline said somewhere that her inspiration for the record was hearing a deep cut of Celine Dion, which she said reminded her of a white ship sailing through a pond-like sea
i also love how she is able to show her voice off without seeming like a tryhard. I feel like some people with great voices just try to shove that down your face and tend to add unnecessary vibratos and things like that. Caroline will blow your mind with her voice without it feeling forced or over the top.
i guess it depends. she for sure belts a lot but she plays with the notes so wisely that it feels more authentic then the overall pop stars with great voices tho.
OMG yes! I hate over singing. It's the main reason I dislike Jennifer Hudson's singing. It's always too much with no consideration for the sensibilities of the melody or the lyrics.
This album blew my mind! The opening track really took me by surprised. This album gives me a summer feel, without being overly top-40 summer hit sounding!
I think it’s my current AOTY as well. Such a rich, gorgeous, well crafted, and fun pop record. Her voice is impeccable. Glad to hear y’all listen through it!
Love Caroline’s music a lot. Very surprised but happy to see y’all reacting to her. I would giving her album “Pang” a listen as well. Very good album in my opinion. I enjoyed almost every song.
This video made me cry numerous times. I just love your relationship with your dad! He’s such a great openminded dude! He hits the nail on the head every time without being belittling or condescending about new music. He gets it! And you can see how much he’s taught you well and loves and respects you as a friend 🙌
Also laughed my ass off every time you mentioned the banana suit because people in the crowd brought out inflatable bananas and threw them around during So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings when she goes “Show me the Banana” in the bridge. Banana suit is meant to be 😂
Everyone says she's amazing live, I'm seeing her tomorrow night and I've only found her when this album dropped. I am ob.sessed. Glad you enjoyed it so much!
I saw her in Copenhagen just 4 days after she released the album and I couldn't agree more, one of the best concerts I've been to HANDS DOWN, absolute powerhouse
i think yall would really like I Love You Jennifer B by Jockstrap. it’s a fantastic piece of experimental electronic pop. incredibly catchy, at times weird, but beautifully composed and produced throughout
I was randomly browsing through your videos and the cover of this album happened to catch my eye and I am so glad it did. 30 seconds into Welcome to my Island and I had to pause the video and listen to the album in full, I ABSOLUTELY adore it. This album is fucking inspiring and tbh so is your channel, it makes me so happy to see both of your connection and appreciation for music, it's helped me get back into really appreciating and listening to music the way I used to. Keep it up!
Moth by chairlift is the album that introduced me to caroline! The whole album, but specifically the song moth to the flame literally changed my life forever! It’s so weird how big she’s become in the last two years! Glad so many see what I’ve been so excited about like 7 years!!!
I've been obsessed with this album since it came out. Pang was excellent to me at the time, but desire makes it sound like a juvenile effort by comparison. Full versatility, more spurious expression, expansion in everything she excelled at in Pang. The mix is pristine, yet warm and full. It is perhaps the most well-curated and complete pop record I have ever heard. She's easily one of the best to ever do it. As a singer, she's a natural virtuoso. And then that meets vision to manifest utter sonic perfection and absolute coherence. Nothing superfluous, and nothing spared.
I’ve been waiting for this one! Caroline and her co-Producer Danny L Harle really did such an excellent job here, the production is so intricate and precise. I love that Caroline produces so much of her work too. He’s the bassist on most of the record btw!
first thing that catches my eye is that Art Angels album over there. Caroline is already incredible. I mean I literally can't stop listening to this album every single day.
I went to the show in Cologne Germany, It was one of the first shows (around 10 days after the release of the album). Caroline unfortunately had food poisoning on that day so she wasn't in full force but even then she delivered a stunning performance, the visuals and vocals were amazing. The opener was a DJ that also played a song by Sophie (and Caroline played I Beleive later in the set) Since she wasn't able to move a lot, she wore this amazing head piece that she said was a special treat for us as a compensation. It was very special. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
this album is in the running for my favorite album of the year. i really appreciate you and your dad's insights on music. glad you chose it to react to.
Saw her last week, probably the best performer I've ever seen! The choreo and everything was so engaging and there's not a thing I would've changed, she just commands the stage-and of course, her voice blew my mind
I had the pleasure of seeing her in Athens, GA and the show was incredible. Literally did not take any pictures or videos the entire time, I was that enchanted. What an album and artist - have a great time at the show!
Seeing such genuine joy shared between father and son is just everything, you guys. Always a treat to watch the two of you two bliss out to my favorite musical moments The recognition of Blood and Butter was so fun. My track of the year so far
This was a fantastic and relaxing watch. Seeing Caroline on May 4th in Seattle!! Sooooo stoked . Saw her and fell for her at This Ain't No Picnic last year
You and your dad have such a great vibe! My dad is a musician and music enjoyer…makes me think I could do this with him! Yeah - every time I hear Pretty In Possible - it just scratches that itch!!
Did not expect to see this. There are so few reactions to this on RUclips. It's such a great album, even after such a long wait. I'm glad you did this!
You and your dad just get it!! It’s beautiful seeing how passionate and open you both are to music. Caroline is finally having her moment. She’s amazing. Keep the energy!!
I listened to this record on the train ride between Vienna and Salzburg and gotta say, the soaring vocals are literally the sonic version of the rolling Austrian hills in the snow
Oof, Connor, if you've never seen her live, you're in for a treat. Live sounds absolutely rip it apart, those base notes resound and hit so hard in your chest, tears will flow without you even wanting. Saw her live in Primavera 2022 Buenos Aires.
watching these videos with you and your dad is so healing to me 😭 i love your relationship and the respect he has it just makes me so happy and i’m so glad finally did caroline new fave video
I'm stoked! I get to see her next month. I've seen her set list and she plays most of her new album but she has great songs like Pang from her 2019 album. I'm going to cry!!
I just saw Caroline live in the US and she was absolutely incredible! She played over half of the new record and gave flawless performances from front to back.. I hope you enjoy the show when you go!
My Girlfriend and I went to see Caroline on her second venue on her tour in Leeds a couple of days before Valentine’s day when the album released and she played the then unrealised songs and it was amazing. We were also about three rows (or people) back from the stage too and she is an amazing performer. My girlfriend has liked her for a long time and feels time album could really help become a household name! Glad you love the album too :)
I loved Pang and didn’t know if I would enjoy this record as much but I’ve had it on repeat. The pop energy on it is incredible and works so well with her unique voice/style - a masterpiece!
I never listened to her much before this but I was floored with how immersive and just beautiful this album is. Top album this year now for me as well.
She's bringing 90s production values back. Trip Hop and Drum n Bass particularly. Edit: And your dad knows the force behind Delirium? Of "Silence" fame? That's massive!
CP is the goat. The first track I heard of hers is Look At Me Now and I was hooked. She can do no wrong IMO. What's crazy about this album too is there are a couple tracks that give a 130-150 BPM Jungle/Drum and Bass which I love. But this is also just a very 90s/200s vibe without being cheesy.
I’m so happy you brought this album to the channel. Caroline is such an amazing artist, truly one of a kind, and she doesnt get talked about nearly as much as she should
David Gray is a perfect reference. A lot of the production on this album also reminds me of early Dido. Glad she was on the song! Thrilled you reacted to this record too, it's so insanely good.
Love that you have Art Angels in the background on this one. On my first listen I was instantly reminded of that album and just started laughing when I got to "Fly to You" in the tracklist. Also, see you at the show in Vancouver!
I've listened to this album at least 6 times in its full length because of your video❤ Kevin is going to love Motomami then. You can tell why Caroline and Rosalía love eachother's work so much! 🎉
Watched her live in London on the day this album came out!!!! She sounds exactly the same. What an incredible vocalist. It was AN EXPERIENCE, to say the least. You are in for a treat!!!!
Love Caroline Polachek, even back in her Chairlift days. Wasn't until recently that I realized how many things she's been in and how much I consistently liked her music. Really happy you covered her album!
just saw caroline in atlanta and let me just say she is one of the best performers ive ever seen live. so captivating and such a fun show. youre gonna have so much fun in your banana suit
the end of welcome to my island has even more depth when you learn that her father never approved of her music career and also passed away shortly before this album release

this album is the epitome of loving the song you are listening to now, and then forgetting that a song that is just as good is coming up. each time is a surprise
Today is my birthday and I'm seeing her live in two days. The timing for this could not have been better, I'm happy to see you guys doing this album 🙏🏻
Hey, Connor-I’m gonna be getting tickets to the Vancouver show, too. Glad I hit play on this cause I’ve been super into this album but wasn’t even thinking to look into her tour. Thanks, and maybe see you there!
Fantastic choice, Caroline is such a unique musician.
😊llp😊
Given that one of Caroline’s more iconic, meme-status lines is “Show me your banana, nanananananana” I’m pretty sure you have to wear a banana suit now

an instant classic. caroline is up there with charli xcx for me when it comes to modern pop geniuses ♥ we love to see it!
That collab between them on Pop 2 for “Tears” rightfully backs up this claim

Danny L for the win!

First heard her on Charli's 'New Shapes' track. Her bridge in that makes the ENTIRE song. After that I was in love.

at about 5:10, Dad says her voice sounds like it's moving through a empty house like the wind -- Caroline said somewhere that her inspiration for the record was hearing a deep cut of Celine Dion, which she said reminded her of a white ship sailing through a pond-like sea
Actually been following her since Chairlift era, one of the best female vocalists, songwriters and her vocal is insane
chairlift was goated
their album something is filled with bangers
on my RUclips channel i do food reviews while I’m super high 😈👀
chairlift had some great songs. crying in public comes to mind.
YES CHAIRLIFT!! The entire Something album is just iconic
The bag pipe solo in Blood and Butter is the same melody as Grimes' verse in Fly to You by the way!
I can’t believe I never noticed this!
i also love how she is able to show her voice off without seeming like a tryhard. I feel like some people with great voices just try to shove that down your face and tend to add unnecessary vibratos and things like that. Caroline will blow your mind with her voice without it feeling forced or over the top.

This album blew my mind! The opening track really took me by surprised. This album gives me a summer feel, without being overly top-40 summer hit sounding!
This is my favorite album of the year so far as well! It is amazingly produced and performed and is only getting better on repeated listens!
She gives me big Imogen Heap/Frou Frou vibes on this one, but still entirely her own thing. A truly exceptional album!
Banger of an album. Would love to see you guys do Titanic Rising by Weyes Blood - some ethereal bops there
