I’m so captivated by how she moves. It’s so decisive and intentional, flowy but powerful, like she’s casting a spell. like she’s singing with her body.
Saw her in Brisbane, hearing her hit those notes live was an experience. She just has such undeniable skill, precise breath control, advanced vocal techniques, talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, showstopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before...
@@ropesquid2085 saw her in Melbourne both nights and agree, her vocal range and control is impeccable. Honestly in top 5 live music experiences of my life.
Watching this made me realise something very obvious about performing. Performing is not only about singing/playing to people, it's about embodying your art on the stage. And Caroline does this so well!!! Love her!
I get so bummed when the likes of Caroline, Magdalena Bay, and Dagny don't have the level of exposure whilst being a millions times better than anyone in the top 20.
She could be that but I think she’s comfortable where she’s at and doesn’t wish to give up her creative freedom in order to get that. And I admire that of her. People like her and Marina and the Diamonds know exactly what they are doing and know how much they can give without giving too much.
why ? does she actually need the fame ? do we need her to be as famous as chappell roan ? Caroline makes a living doing what she loves and we get to enjoy it live in small/medium-size venues. Her level of fame is just the right amount.
@@Alicegab300 ok, but I disagree. pop music is disposable and repetitive, most of these pop divas don't even really sing, when they do they use playback and autotune, as well as an army of ghostwriters. Caroline is creative, intelligent, has a good voice and melody, knows how to be unique
@@Thiago-hs4styou don't need to bring other artists down to lift caroline up. we can just enjoy her beautiful music regardless of the fact that ghostwriters and autotune are used by others
I am 65 years old and my musical tastes include Van der Graaf Generator, Tori Amos, King Crimson, Radiohead and Led Zeppelin among many others, but this woman is so unreal. A true giant in the vocal world - her voice is hypnotic and soothing and the songs are incredibly varied and well structured. She is like a female Thom Yorke with her buttery smooth upper register and earthy lower tones. Almost forgot to say - very tight band - great drummer.
Desire has been my absolute favourite album ever since it released. To me it’s not even just music, it’s like she created a whole world using these very deliberately placed sounds and vocals. Incredible artist
Absolutely amazing concert. I’ve seen her live twice and she’s always vibrant striking like this, amazing stage presence and a way of graciously controlling the whole room. It’s a shame they cut out Hit Me Where It Hurts, Crude Drawing of an Angel, Ocean of Tears, Fly to You, Pang, Parachute, Butterfly Net, Caroline Shut Up, So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings, Hopedrunk Everasking, and Door though. Would love to see the entire show !!
You cannot help but love Caroline & their dedication to their craft they are ETHEREAL. Shout-out to SOPHIE also broke me into tiny bits & pieces... ❤️🩹🕊️
This recording is absolutely incredible, the audio and camerawork are just perfect!! It's so cinematic but makes you feel like you're really watching her live at the same time! Does anyone know the musicians playing with her? They're amazing!! The guitar tone and arrangements especially, I love their playing on Bunny Is A Rider
Caroline Polachek's solo albums from the last few years sound less like the work of a career musician nearing her 40's and more like an early 20-something swooping out of nowhere to shake up the possibilities of pop. Amazing to hear her release the best work of her career at this point in time.
Not to be a creep but I’m obsessed with the way she moves.. so much like Kate bush but completely different, she’s not just “expressing the feelings”, more like she’s imitating instincts in such a strict way. She has the perfect control to everything she owns
The way her voice filled the space was just incredible. She was meant for for the opera house. Best concert I've ever been to.
yes!! perfect match. ethereal, breathtaking, and scorny the whole way thru
she was in opera for a long time haha
She is a one of a kind talent. Truly amazing.
she's great no doubt - but there's SO much vocal on track - how do we feel about that?

It's witchcraft.........................in a good way.
She is just the best name in pop actually.

god i bet hearing the intro for welcome to my island live in the opera house feels like a dreammmm
What did we do to deserve Caroline Polachek and Sydney Opera House releasing a 4K recording of the gig??
She's an absolute bolt of electricity coursing through the world!!
That's exactly what I was gonna say

The sound is impossibly good. Whoever mixed this is a master.
can we give her fame like chappel roan? caroline really has to be a big artist
I get so bummed when the likes of Caroline, Magdalena Bay, and Dagny don't have the level of exposure whilst being a millions times better than anyone in the top 20.
I suspect Caroline's lyrics are too abstract for the masses to truly embrace. But I really don't know why she's not as famous :/

Desire I want to Turn Into You is a pop masterpiece 🎶🎶
This is a indie rock
She's better than this pop music

I hope you've checked out her band Chairlift as some of her most amazing songs she wrote for that band. I'm 70 and we have the same tastes in bands.

agree 100% a fellow VDGG fan
there's not a talent like her out right now. production, vocals, her creative direction. just out of this world.
NO BUT LIKE WHY DID THEY CUT OUT FLY TO YOU????? that was one of the best performances i’ve ever seen
Real? I'm devastated now :( there's no professionally shot performance of her doing that song
Maybe she thought it would be incomplete without Grimes and Dido
