FF7 Remake Jenova Dreamweaver boss fight. Игры
Red: "It's an illusion. Stay calm."
Everyone: **FRANTICALLY ATTACKS IT**
Red: *what did I just say?...*
dragon king leonides1527 🤣
@@hestakingit He probably meant don't let her scare you.
@@WillieManga Well I believe the idea is the area/room they are seeing is the illusion. But not Jenova herself.
Finally someone who understands that sentence. Red 13 is indeed talking about the surroundings that Sephiroth aka Jenova created.
17:19 I charged straight at the boss, just because the OST demanded it. I I was waiting for this soundtrack to happen during the entire fight. I was not disappointed
I love how it does mid battle cutscences and the way the game's camera pans back and goes back into gameplay so smoothly and the music goes to another level.
people can say whatever they want to about the ending and the direction it's going but they cannot take away the fact that the soundtrack was amazing
@@itschmadam well I think the devs made a very brave choice about the ending and it will do the series good. The game sold incredibly well and the review score vary around the 8 and 10. So the direction this game is going is very promising, they have laid a solid base gameplay and can build from there, free from a fixed timeline, so now everything is possible, and let's face it, everyone was trying to save Aerith, so who knows!
Thing was with this remake, I was playing from "main event to main event" I pretty much knew evrything that was going to happen, which took away the element of surprise for me, and a lot of Ff7 original players (which makes sense in a remake of course) So I was very pleased when things started to change and alter, making me wonder what was gonna happen next
@@dennisthemenace3822 I'm definitely excited to see where they go. I'm just scared it's gonna go off the rails
@@itschmadam well it's the same writers as the original and they've said that they had pages of cut content that never made it into the game so anything new is likely from this same cut content. Think of it more like deleted scenes really because there were quite a few plot holes in the original like bugenhagen saying you are in a crisis of endless time but never expanding on it or an explanation as to why sephiroth transforms and has the power to bend space and reality or why you travel through a wormhole after that to fight him at the edge of creation for the final 1v1 lol you can't tell me that you understood that when you beat the original
God, I will never get over that transition in the the final phase, and the J-E-N-O-V-A theme proper finally hits. I had goosebumps the first time I played it. In fact, I still got goosebumps watching it here.
I remember thinking all through the fight "this music is really good, but also kind of disappointing since it's just not hitting quite like the original." I let out a big "fuck YES" when that transition hit.
The only Jenova that is capable of web design.
the next one will be Jenova flash XDD
Javanova*
Then Jenova Fireworks
And then Jenova Photoshop
Jenova Unreal... Hey, wait!
Damn I love that touch of cosmic horror.
That was always the crux of the story of FF7 before the Cloud/Sephiroth angst got popular.
@@aprinnyonbreak1290 true that. Most people don't realize or even remember what a sociopathic pair of entitled, childish psychos Sephy *and* Jenova were.
@@UndyingWladeslaus
I actually felt dumb when getting to this part because it never clicked in my head until then looking back on when I first played 7 that Jenovah's essentially a female Nyarlothotep. What with the disguising herself as a human (Cetra), wearing the faces of others or being perceived differently by others if she wished, causing hallucinations, mutating people, coming from space.
@@OsnosisBones and now you make me realize that Sephiroth's closest D&D class is Warlock.
Thats... kinda weird, but I dig it.
@@UndyingWladeslaus
We're all about happy accident in these parts.
Man when I was playing this and the original tune started in the last part of the battle I was like OMG. Love it
When it transitions into that bad ass remix... my hairs stood up. Loved it! Nobou Uematsu does it again with his musical scores
I love the John Carpenter feel of The Thing here
I played stupid just to hear it play out a bit more lmao.... Cuz to this day i still play games without needing youtube!! I am an original gamer lol
Best part of the game in my opinion, I was waiting the whole game for this part.
You know, at first I didn’t like Sephiroth in Remake because I thought he’d appeared too early and often just to say nothing that couldn’t have unfolded just as effectively the way it did in the original...but then I played through again and I realized there’s something about the way they portrayed him. The way he looks at you (like at 22:44), the way he looks THROUGH you, the way he seems more curious than angry, the way he seems to know something you don’t, the way he feels so...alien. For the first time, we actually see the Jenova in him. For the first time, it hits home that when he died in the war, he died. We meet an incarnation of him, a reanimating of his body, but for all we know, he’s not in there (if “he” was ever anything else, considering his conception). Jenova herself (itself? themselves?) is watching us, learning us. And that is quite delightfully horrifying.
It's funny, we complained so much about this new Sephiroth at first, but maybe they are giving us the dreadful Sephiroth we learned to love, maybe we just can't see the full picture yet...or they'll fuck everything up in the next parts haha
I mean in the original, Sephiroth DOES still show up; we just don't actually SEE him kill President Shinra. It's just another example of Square fleshing out the story more
still shouldnt have had the team fight him at the end of part 1... it ruined his mystique a little and now chasing him isnt as fun in the next parts... I played the original and they should have stuck to him appearing, saying a few words by taunting the team and then part 1 ending with Cloud's monologue about how he has to chase sephiroth... this would have been better imo
Was about to say the same. The way the story is going now he has to appear at this point for the 7 seconds speech. I hope they elaborate more in the next games about the jenova / sephiroth theory and who is actually in control or if they've somehow fused from sephy falling into the lifestream with her head
Well that's why I was hoping this remake would be 1 to 1 in terms of what happens in the story, with the benefit of high quality cgi cutscenes and sound to make what wasn't clear in the original, much more clear.
All this does for better or worse, makes us question who was in control Sephiroth or Jenova.
"It's just an illusion, stay calm!"
Oh really, an illusion that just whooped your ass?!
Yes. Sephiroth's illusion powers still can hurt. But since she's not the real Jenova, she can be beaten easier.
itachi: first time?
aizen: no
I came here for 17:05. That moment the music changed, I was back in 1997, fighting a psychotic genocidal alien on a ship in the middle of the sea.
3:37 The developers of FFVII Remake are clearly fans of Goldeneye 64. The golden gun is always the strongest weapon and Barret knows it ^^
Omg that was my thought too
I was playing Goldeneye in my friend's room but was awestruck by what I saw his cousin playing in the living room. FFVII. Saved up for a PS and there was no going back.
*Barrett:*
Cannon for an arm..."LETS DO THIS!!"
*Shinra:*

*Also Barrett:*
Were fucked.
JENOVA's inspiration from The Thing looks undeniable in the remake. A single-celled invading organism from outer space that mimicked the Ancient's loved ones in order to prey on them.
Yes!!
That's what I always thought! Exactly like the Thing!
Jenova eats the planet.
@@worawatsr9803 There are still many people who insist that Jenova is still in fact the *main* villain of FF7. And that Sephiroth possessing Jenova cells himself, is simply acting upon the Jenova hive-mind's overriding directive Being to invade and absorb a planets lifestream.
@@LordMalice6d9 Then, what is Jenova? A parasite which only has as purpose to consume an entire world and after that it leaves to invade another one?
You’re here for 17:15
This version should have kicked in earlier tbh. I like the slower rendition, but the original is one everybody wanted to hear. Should've transitioned at 50% HP instead of 25%.
I was legit pissed that they changed the music that I didn't even notice it changed on the last phase. Still not a good choice imo
The tease is what makes it great
@@Lifeonfoodstamps To me it was more effective. The way the fight flowed and the music. It was like a build up. Then in the last phase. When it hit. The nostalgia really hit! I appreciate the way they did the music in here.
you're absolutely fucking right. goosebumps
If this HD model of Jenova doesn't scream "The Thing" I don't know what will convince you of the Cosmic Horror influence of this game! XD
This Remake makes me hope for the best!
Getting to this part of the remake made me realize years later that Jenovah is a essentially a female Nyarlothotep and I felt dumb for never thinking of that earlier.
honestly have never looked into the cosmic horror genre... not a massive fan of straight up horror tbh

@@xtensionxward3659 I'm sorry you feel that way. Have you tried turning the computer in your mothers basement off and on again?
I think we can all appreciate this is by far one of the best boss fights in the game along with the amazing soundtrack, I'm glad she had a huge amount of HP which led us to enjoy the fight to the fullest. And Phase 3 was just EPIC.
"I'm glad she had a huge amount of HP which led us to enjoy the fight to the fullest. " Certainly, in my opinion the greatest flaw the original game had was that both Jenova and Sephiroth and almost every story boss were a joke. They were so easy that it frustrated me a lot. At least now in the remake they seem to have learned the lesson and also there's a hard mode. Bosses need to be hard in order to be memorable, it's hard to make a memorable vilain if he's a pushover. The fact that Sephiroth did manage to become a legendary villain in gaming history impresses me and showcase how well he was developped, because even though he was one of the esiest bosses in the history of gaming, he was still memorable because of the story. I hope they make him very hard in the final encounter this time.
@@DanielEscovedo I struggled on thr original lol, maybe I just sucked.
He was a bit too weak in the original yeah but they had a few good ideas like he could go from 80,000 to 500,000 HP given your level and making Bizarro Sephiroth a bit stronger in case you used KORT against Jenova final form

No kidding. This was a rush of childhood memory. I remember beating it in the ps1 with a hail mary climhazard when everyone else was down.
When the third wave came and the Jenova theme played while he squared off with the party I got goosebumps. Def an homage to the original
the camerawork when switching characters was amazing during this fight in particular, cloud rushing in aerith casting spells while tifa punching the shit out of that thing a trully work of art both nostalgic and innovative at the same time, not to mention the crushing sequence just before the fight bringing that original feeling of losing a character and then immediately starting combat. Absolutely amazing!
As a fan- the best battle system of any Final fantasy game at least for now, interesting story , interesting characters - I'm pretty sure we would see people talking shit if this was the same story from the original game- " is just updated graphics with no changes whatsoever" keep in mind many of the original members AND fans from the game worked on this first part, for those saying "Nomura fucked up with his fancfictiong" the game has 3 directors and one of them is Nomura, 4 writters and none of them is Nomura, so you're basically seeing a different take on the game which is good
as another game developer with almost no experience-
this shit right here took a fuckton of time, the npcs, the enviroments (some technical problems with textures but that's something normal I've heard from UE4 ) dialogs, the slums- everything seems so fucking cool! the world feels alive! the game is linear of course with a few choices here and there but the details! jesus I can't think the amount of time and money they spent on all of this which is definitively more than any game they have worked on for at least 10 years.
People are way to in there own feelings they discard the genuine love , care and hard work that went into this game just because of one thing they didn't like which I think is incredibly unfair
Completely agree with everything you said. the Devs deserve more respect for pulling out this incredible game for us! And I'm very excited for the future of this series.
@@Kurt634 like I'm not gonna lie and say I loved the ending but I'm not just gonna pretend all the good shit that happened before that didn't happen sure the ending didn't stick the landing for most but that's not the end of the world nor does that ruin the rest of the game square enix did an incredible job with this game they deserve some praise .
@@thatoneblackdude3333 true it's okay if you wasn't a fan of the ending. Square knows EXACTLY what they're doing with this remake though and they already have everything planned out. they are going to deliver an amazing ending and have definitely thought out this change of direction, if you haven't already watch this ruclips.net/video/wiKfhIRcOfc/видео.html . It looks like they're going with the route of making sephiroth more powerful than he's ever been before, maybe even actually destroying the world for good this time. There was also so many nods to the other FF7 games and so much care given surrounding the remake in literally every department from combat to music and the story/character interactions. I think people really should try their best to look past the ending for now and judge the game when all the parts are out. People should be thankful that this game has even come out to begin with and how amazing they have made it!
@@Kurt634 I'm sure they know what there Doing I'm just not certain if this is the right direction to take the remake and as it stands I don't think it's worth messing with one of the most beloved video games in history perhaps just keeping it one for one would seem boring and playing it safe but Idk maybe that's for the best the fanbase has always been rocky since ff13 if they rock the boat to much this could end badly square needs the remake series to be successful not just in how much money it makes but to fully win back the trust in the fans and so far there Doing the opposite.
I f-ing LOVED this fight! And the fact that what we fought was JENOVA's head, which we didn't do in the original game, until she was completed!
Do they show it's her head? I didn't catch that
@@Barbeta13 Well we see her whole body wrapped up after the fight. We know in the original Jenova left parts of her behind and that was what we fought as bosses. Meaning the "Sephiroth" Cloud saw in Chapter 2 was Jenova's shapeshifted head!
@@OffDutyOfficial Sephiroth took her head with him on his way out of Nibelheim. She was headless before she got to the Shinra building. This wasn't "Jenova's friggin' head", it was actually Tifa's neighbor.
any of the jenova clones/experiments can be transform into jenova
That was not her head. It was the cells that were in the Sephiroth copy. The head is at the Knowlespole together with Sephiroth.
17:15 was a fucking amazing moment, really, one of the best gaming moments I had with this game.

1st of all, when Jenova's theme kicks in during the 3rd phase...hell yeah!
2nd, loved the timing at 18:16 just as Aerith shoots her Ray of Judgement during that part of the music!
Not sure how, but when I look at Dreamweaver, it's design makes me think Dark Souls 2 and 3. That is some Eldritch impressiveness.
Believe it or not this is the same basic design they had in the OG version, just more detailed and extra features.

Pretty neat design. I see the skull face as an exo-skeleton, or like it is wearing a mask (Cubone!). There's something really uncanny about the eyes within it. Like they resemble dog eyes or something? A fitting sense of "wrongness" for Jenova. I look forward to seeing what other Jenova designs they come up with in future parts.

Chrono Trigger had a new version of Lavos called the Dream Devourer in its updated DS port. Chrono Trigger was a scrapped concept for FFVII made into its own thin like Xeno Gears and Parasite eve. just absolute fucking kino when the 3rd phase music starts
Was it really jenova or an illusion like Red said at the beginning?
I was so confused lol
The proof of the illusion lies in the environment, they were in the President Shinra throne room a moment and a second later they appeared to be in the Northern Cave, the very "wound" Jenova inflicted on the Planet when it crash-landed millennia before. I presume it to be the Northern Crater by the look of the mako growths in the background of the fight, it's the only place in the og that fits thematically and aesthetically
Sephiroth was channeling himself and Jenova through the Jenova cells of a Sephiroth clone (Tifa's neighbor).
The throne hall transforms into northern cave. That’s the illusion. The Jenova thing is real.
Jenova can shapeshift and make you see things that aren't real....but that doesn't mean her 'illusions' can't hurt or kill you!

What's up with the smoke when they get stabbed?
So... Jenova’s body part developed in a skull face???
Fabio.G. Jenova can shape itself into many forms such as sephiroth, and that grotesque monster.
@@brandonp6880 ok I got it....I wouldn't have made the shape of the face in that way...I don't think that the face of the monster developing from the limbs in the original game was intended to be a skull....it's just my opinion...it's obvious that it is not Jenova final form or Jenova's face which we are aware of....but I don't like that much how the developers drew this Jenova....well it shouldn't have been fought at that time of the game..but this is another story
Its likely reforming itself or makeshifting an illusion. Originally, It was headless within Shinra Tower. Perhaps this 'dreamweaver' is simply forming a head within its mental attack on the party.
Of course in the original, all the Jenova heads were polygonal. Maybe it was always meant to be a skull.
The pieces of Jenova that we fight are an amalgamation of Jenovas cells which assimilate into a horrific beast. Dreamweaver is NOT what Jenova actually looks like.

But this is the opening act right? I mean in terms of content.
That music shift at 17:18 is the bessssssst
"I'm coming!"
I remember long ago during an interview with the creators i read that talked about Aerith’s death. According to them, It was actually a choice between Her and Barret dying but ultimately decided on Aerith. Interesting to see the latter considered over 20 years later…
Yeah, that hype tune
Every year I get visits from Jenova witnesses.
"Talk to me again like you know me." God d a m n.
Man with the golden gun...it's Scaramanga!
"There is no room for sentiment or guilt"
Sephiroth: You're right, there isn't. _Skewers him_
President Shinra richly deserved his impalement however if Sephiroth wanted to truly crush that narcissistic asshole he should have deployed a squadron of cloaked drones to record the confession and patch the juicy footage into radio and television networks all over the world: the collective disapproval would shatter the president’s ego then the blade master would end the humiliation conga with seven feet of steel
It's actually Jenova lol
@@walterio3247 how can jenova camouflage like sephiroth
@@videogamestutorialactually it's Jenova controlling one of the hooded mans
@@walterio3247 wow that's crazy. And those hooded man's are sephiroth failed clones
*when that sword be sticking out of Shinra and they be like*
When I heard barret say well well well I immediately flashed back to ff7 abridged by team four star
They should have localized the supposedly name of that boss as Jenova-PULSE to be in line with the Jenova naming
PULSE

Where is the JENOVA boss battle theme?
17:17
Those jerks saved it for the last quarter of its HP, and it’s GLORIOUS.
@@maxspecs fucken genius build up! They knew !🤣
It actually plays thought out the whole fight it's just a revamped version. It's slower and builds up tempo as the Battle goes on.
is anyone gonna talk about the scene right before the boss where sephiroth kills shinra while those who were chosen by the planet plays(with added lyrics from one winged angel)?
Jonathan Flanagan We are too thoroughly intimidated, give us a few more weeks
I always thought this was sephiroth possessing Jenova as Jenovas headless body escapes the shinra HQ but it shows both sephiroth and a clone after Jenova dies?
