As a fan- the best battle system of any Final fantasy game at least for now, interesting story , interesting characters - I'm pretty sure we would see people talking shit if this was the same story from the original game- " is just updated graphics with no changes whatsoever" keep in mind many of the original members AND fans from the game worked on this first part, for those saying "Nomura fucked up with his fancfictiong" the game has 3 directors and one of them is Nomura, 4 writters and none of them is Nomura, so you're basically seeing a different take on the game which is good as another game developer with almost no experience- this shit right here took a fuckton of time, the npcs, the enviroments (some technical problems with textures but that's something normal I've heard from UE4 ) dialogs, the slums- everything seems so fucking cool! the world feels alive! the game is linear of course with a few choices here and there but the details! jesus I can't think the amount of time and money they spent on all of this which is definitively more than any game they have worked on for at least 10 years.
People are way to in there own feelings they discard the genuine love , care and hard work that went into this game just because of one thing they didn't like which I think is incredibly unfair

the camerawork when switching characters was amazing during this fight in particular, cloud rushing in aerith casting spells while tifa punching the shit out of that thing a trully work of art both nostalgic and innovative at the same time, not to mention the crushing sequence just before the fight bringing that original feeling of losing a character and then immediately starting combat. Absolutely amazing!
1st of all, when Jenova's theme kicks in during the 3rd phase...hell yeah! 2nd, loved the timing at 18:16 just as Aerith shoots her Ray of Judgement during that part of the music!

I've never played the original, but ive heard the original theme to the boss. It kept playing in certain aspects of this chapter in a very sinister ambience part of the game. I knew I was in for a horrifying treat.
During the time I was playing this game, I was shocked when the original soundtrack was played during the last part, I had goosebumps and really amazed with this wonderful game!!
2 boss fights that made me pause the game and geek out because of the music: 1. The very first second of the Airbuster fight. That iconic guitar riff. 2. 17:15 during this fight.

@G C that could be chaotic and game breaking. I think another square game tried that, Star Ocean 5. Having 7 or 8 party members was brutal on frame rate and balancing.

Chrono Trigger had a new version of Lavos called the Dream Devourer in its updated DS port. Chrono Trigger was a scrapped concept for FFVII made into its own thin like Xeno Gears and Parasite eve. Jenova now has a new version called the Dreamweaver, after previously in the original often compared by many to Lavos. Hmmm, what are you up to, nomura...
I was looking for comments like this, I thought the same when there was a reference to the "Black Wind" (once it takes you, you aren't going back) in the train graveyard, although it's meant to be a story to scare the children from adventuring in, it immediately reminded me of Janus and his "the black wind is howling, someone's going to die" in the kingdom of Zeal... Can Dreamweaver, Marle and the Black Wind be tips from what is to come or just nods to an equal glorious RPG contemporary to FF7 OG, yet to be remade?
Did anyone else notice the SFX during the 3rd phase used in the song at 18:02 - 18:03 is Jenova∙LIFE's attack 'Blue light' from the original game? Cool little easter egg there.
I really like how they emphasised the Dreamweaver aspect by having this fight in an alternate dimension and later on causing the characters to all dream up some kingdom hearts bullshit when they leave Shinra HQ... Wait, what?
When I was playing this through I thought it was going over the top with the story and trying to cram it all into one game. Then 17:15 hits and you realise, this is just the start of the games to come and takes you all that way back to the original when everyone thought they were getting something near to completely when they left Midgar. Unbelievable fan service psychology.
I just realized that the gun President Shinra uses (and the gun that Leslie uses) are both modeled on the Quicksilver, Vincent Valentine's starting weapon (which itself is based on the real life Colt M1911).
Pretty neat design. I see the skull face as an exo-skeleton, or like it is wearing a mask (Cubone!). There's something really uncanny about the eyes within it. Like they resemble dog eyes or something? A fitting sense of "wrongness" for Jenova. I look forward to seeing what other Jenova designs they come up with in future parts.
I hope that if the second part change something it story, that it happens like this fight, this was a very positive addition that wasn't in the original, but still makes sense in the story and make you so nostalgic at the same time.
I remember long ago during an interview with the creators i read that talked about Aerith’s death. According to them, It was actually a choice between Her and Barret dying but ultimately decided on Aerith. Interesting to see the latter considered over 20 years later…
It was interesting to debut Jenova early, but I was NOT expecting Jenova to look like a terrifying Resident Evil monster! Best Boss Surprise form the classics in history!
President Shinra richly deserved his impalement however if Sephiroth wanted to truly crush that narcissistic asshole he should have deployed a squadron of cloaked drones to record the confession and patch the juicy footage into radio and television networks all over the world: the collective disapproval would shatter the president’s ego then the blade master would end the humiliation conga with seven feet of steel
@@brandonp6880 ok I got it....I wouldn't have made the shape of the face in that way...I don't think that the face of the monster developing from the limbs in the original game was intended to be a skull....it's just my opinion...it's obvious that it is not Jenova final form or Jenova's face which we are aware of....but I don't like that much how the developers drew this Jenova....well it shouldn't have been fought at that time of the game..but this is another story
Its likely reforming itself or makeshifting an illusion. Originally, It was headless within Shinra Tower. Perhaps this 'dreamweaver' is simply forming a head within its mental attack on the party. Of course in the original, all the Jenova heads were polygonal. Maybe it was always meant to be a skull.
The pieces of Jenova that we fight are an amalgamation of Jenovas cells which assimilate into a horrific beast. Dreamweaver is NOT what Jenova actually looks like.
i was like.. so... we're fighting jenova? so they decided to change the music, eh wait... no.. upon listening more closely, they just slow it down. okay... thats fine i guess. and then came the phase 3. oh shit.. here we go. theres a lot of nostalgic feelings in this game, but so far. this one is the most bone chilling.
this is the only boss in the game that denies you from using old classic tactics of hitting bosses/enemies from their back... his tail will teach you a lesson.
Wait, so there are two Sephiroths now? Because the original was using Jenova's body to materialize, but this one picks up Jenova's body. I guess there's this timeline's Sephiroth and the original classic Sephiroth that somehow travelled back in time to this timeline.
It's just the "sephiroth clones" of the original. Remember? Those failed experiments a lot like Cloud who had Jenova cells infused in them and who mumble about reunion? The first "Sephiroth" you see was a clone who was bonding with Jenova parts, that's why it turns directly into Dreamweaver and when you kill Dreamweaver it dissolves into a dude with 49 on his arm and a Jenova corpse part. The second Sephiroth is probably another clone dude operating as Sephiroth's proxy body since the true body of Sephiroth should still be very far away at this point of the game.
@@proudlarry8225 No, I'm pretty sure the second Sephiroth is some kind of manifestation of '97 Sephiroth, and he must have changed things so the clones came into play earlier, because I'm pretty sure that was originally just Jenova who killed President Shinra.
@@GiubileiFernando There are some people who argue to this day that after Sephiroth fell into the Lifestream, Jenova was the one really in charge of his thoughts and just acted through him and all their clone vessels and cells. this shit right here took a fuckton of time, the npcs, the enviroments (some technical problems with textures but that's something normal I've heard from UE4 ) dialogs, the slums- everything seems so fucking cool! the world feels alive! the game is linear of course with a few choices here and there but the details! jesus I can't think the amount of time and money they spent on all of this which is definitively more than any game they have worked on for at least 10 years.
People are way to in there own feelings they discard the genuine love , care and hard work that went into this game just because of one thing they didn't like which I think is incredibly unfair
Completely agree with everything you said. the Devs deserve more respect for pulling out this incredible game for us! And I'm very excited for the future of this series.
@@Kurt634 like I'm not gonna lie and say I loved the ending but I'm not just gonna pretend all the good shit that happened before that didn't happen sure the ending didn't stick the landing for most but that's not the end of the world nor does that ruin the rest of the game square enix did an incredible job with this game they deserve some praise .
@@thatoneblackdude3333 true it's okay if you wasn't a fan of the ending. Square knows EXACTLY what they're doing with this remake though and they already have everything planned out. they are going to deliver an amazing ending and have definitely thought out this change of direction, if you haven't already watch this ruclips.net/video/wiKfhIRcOfc/видео.html . It looks like they're going with the route of making sephiroth more powerful than he's ever been before, maybe even actually destroying the world for good this time. There was also so many nods to the other FF7 games and so much care given surrounding the remake in literally every department from combat to music and the story/character interactions. I think people really should try their best to look past the ending for now and judge the game when all the parts are out. People should be thankful that this game has even come out to begin with and how amazing they have made it!
@@Kurt634 I'm sure they know what there Doing I'm just not certain if this is the right direction to take the remake and as it stands I don't think it's worth messing with one of the most beloved video games in history perhaps just keeping it one for one would seem boring and playing it safe but Idk maybe that's for the best the fanbase has always been rocky since ff13 if they rock the boat to much this could end badly square needs the remake series to be successful not just in how much money it makes but to fully win back the trust in the fans and so far there Doing the opposite.

That was not her head. It was the cells that were in the Sephiroth copy. The head is at the Knowlespole together with Sephiroth.
the camerawork when switching characters was amazing during this fight in particular, cloud rushing in aerith casting spells while tifa punching the shit out of that thing a trully work of art both nostalgic and innovative at the same time, not to mention the crushing sequence just before the fight bringing that original feeling of losing a character and then immediately starting combat. Chrono Trigger had a new version of Lavos called the Dream Devourer in its updated DS port. Chrono Trigger was a scrapped concept for FFVII made into its own thin like Xeno Gears and Parasite eve. I just realized that the gun President Shinra uses (and the gun that Leslie uses) are both modeled on the Quicksilver, Vincent Valentine's starting weapon (which itself is based on the real life Colt M1911).
The the 3rd phase music dropped, when I tell you the CHILLSSSS I fucking got!

Fabio.G. Jenova can shape itself into many forms such as sephiroth, and that grotesque monster.
And then there's the fact that Jenova's head in the Nibelheim reactor looked like that of a woman.

i love the 3rd phase theme. but dont ignore the epic 2nd phase theme.
The real fight begins 17:16
Wait, so there are two Sephiroths now? Because the original was using Jenova's body to materialize, but this one picks up Jenova's body. I guess there's this timeline's Sephiroth and the original classic Sephiroth that somehow travelled back in time to this timeline.
Exactly.
But sure, I'm willing to wait years for the next set of Remake chapters to see if I'm wrong about the second Sephiroth. I'll concede in the time being that this time-stuff is hard for me to follow, but I do feel it is entirely unnecessary to the remake as well.
