XV's combat becomes more enjoyable once you realize it centers a lot more in movement(why so many different moves are tied to the direction you move the L-stick while locked-on) and actually play around and get used to different weapons. The only thing that sucks is not having an actual good tutorial explaining this
I feel like this is a bit pet peeve of mine in gaming in general. What's the point of putting these mechanics if you aren't going ot put a tutorial in the game. And you just have to know it or have someone tell you or you find it online.

True but I will say the royal edition is a really good experience. Especially on ps4 pro/ ps5. 60 fps , great tweaks to combat and character switching. If you haven't already play it man. It does a lot for the game
That Polearm moveset. Absolutely love it. Also how all the Arms have unique movesets. I think as more time goes on, people will appreciate this game alot more.
Loved using axe of the conqueror's warp strike at 9:28 and the warrior's katana at 15:39 as those hits were very satisfying. I also never noticed how the scepter has so many combo routes.
I just wish you had to do manual button presses, and that the game more incentived using more of what the weapons had to offer. And also that the Royal Arms didn't have a lifedrain effect.
Royal arms should've only been marginally stronger but mostly had their other buffs and movesets to set them apart, that way no life drain wouldn't make them busted

Or spawn in bosses to just have a fun challenge. Also, at the risk of sounding like an ass. I do have to note I think you missed a few. There is a Machinery Flamethrower if I recall correctly.
Scepter of the Pious is a missed opportunity to become a traditional FF Mage, I'd rather have even a simple pew2 magic bolt rather than a randomized weapon combo.
Man, this is nostalgic. Makes me want to download the game and spam Blade of the Mystic again. I loved the weapon, especially the design, but it felt lacklustre. When you compare it to the same designed sword used by Ardyn in his DLC, there is more movement despite being similar blades.

@@tengosc9914 The Limit Break of FFXV. First you only have a short one where weapons repeatedly hit the enemy you'rre attacking and it lasts for 10s or so. Then you can unlock Armiger Unleashed, which will significantly increase the duration and instead of random weapons hitting the enemy, Noct will do different combos depending on which buttons you press. Armiger Unleashed also gives access to its own unique special moves that use up a certain amount of bar when used.
@@tengosc9914 I can't say for Armiger Unleashed because I didn't unlock that back then, but I remember that you had to charge regular Armiger before you could use it.
Personally I wish this system just wasn't made around holding inputs its the only thing That made me feel like I have no control otherwise I love this game to bits
This game have some of the best animations I have ever seen in gaming. There is so much detail and life in the animations of Noctis and the boys. Only game comparable would be RDR2
Well, it's sad but most of the Royal Arms were such a lucklaster! Shuriken, katana and mace shined only in online multiplayer you can't even have access to right now! And health penalty, which is countered only by 3 black chokers + 3 megaphones + noodle outfit, only makes it worse!
You can still play the multiplayer but with bots. And yeah, sadly the health penalty makes the Royal Arms to be mediocre at best. Luckily there's a mod in CurseForge that removes the health penalty from the Royal Arms.
It always sucks that there's an entire badass katana moveset, but Noctis cannot use it cause he uses the katana like a Greatsword. Then when you play the multiplayer mode, there's entire movesets that Noctis also can't use.

I agree on XV incentivizing switching your attacks, but I think the auto-combo still works since you can still tap for individual inputs

I'm not happy that the only katana in the game is the Katana of the Warrior. In fact, that's only accessible in the middle-late game.
