That's interesting, because when I first learned about the VR beta, I remember reading somewhere that if you wanted access you had to go and ask a particular person on discord, which I did and he gave me access. I guess maybe the message has changed? Since that guy opened himself up to getting DMed a lot
Receiver 2 makes a helluva lot more sense to be in VR. the keyboard controls are a nightmare. Been supporting Wolfire since Lugaru... cool to see you play one of their games.
The keyboard controls I think honestly fit the game well, it's explicitly counter-intuitive and forces every single move to be deliberate and thought out which fits into the game's themes of mindfulness and so on. With that said, if they really nail VR I bet it'll be fantastic too.
Dunno if anyone said so in the stream, but the “counterweight” on the Deagle is actually the gas piston. It’s on the front of the slide, I believe. It works kinda like an upside down AK bolt.
@@Meoiswa The bolt head resembles closer to the AR, but with 4 lugs. The piston isn't a long-stroke like an AK, but a short-stroke (closer overall to the M1 carbine).
I was surprised to see that the desert eagle had a rotating bolt with locking lugs like that, but also having a gas piston is also a surprise to me. I'm sure it also acts as a counterweight which it would definitely need. It's one gun that I never bothered to learn much about simply because i was never in to the novelty of it.
Oh dude! This is a huge improvement to the VR mod from the previous receiver game that emulated keyboard controls with a touchpad. Possible native support by the devs themselves is unexpected but exciting
Hey there, I'm actually the dude who did that original touchpad mod, I've re-done the R1 VR mod from scratch which is still not entirely like the stuff I did for R2's VR mode but it's somewhat close, that version of the R1 VR mod is in a public beta branch there if you wanna check it out. :) Was a lil limited in what I could do with R1 VR-wise but I tried to make it decent. R2 was way different to work on and already had a lot implemented, I basically just made it usable with SteamVR haha. (The new R1 VR mod on the beta branch actually also supports the workshop content that was added recently, of which I actually submitted most too)
Its a game about gun safety and how to properly use them without causing harm to yourself or others (it's what I've gathered so far) so of course its gonna be very detailed
I was very interested in how they'd handle misfires and malfunctions if they ever made Receiver in VR, or anything similar to it. This game and how detailed it is in how everything functions fascinates me to no end and VR adds another level of that.
Fun fact: You can actually get malfunctions in h3, but they're much more rare because they're physics based. I thought I was losing my mind in Take and Hold one time because I'd gone through every step of remedial action that would normally apply to the game, only to observe the weapon more closely and found my shell hadn't fully ejected
There are no malfunctions in H3 vanilla , maybe you have the mod meatyceiver installed or you fired a low pressure 12GA from a semi auto shotgun and didn’t manually cycle it
Wolfire are actually one of my favorite devs, Overgrowth was amazing and both receiver games are super cool. I've already sunk a combined 200 hours in both receiver games, I'd imagine that would double with a VR release.
Malfunctions are actually something I've been wanting to see in H3 for so long. This branch looks very promising and I hope development for it does continue.
H3VR does actually have this in limited cases: the dragon's breath causes feed failures and the flintlock has various failure states if you don't operate it properly. Real life gun failures result from either ammo manufacturing issues or gun maintenance issues (or some other complex issue). Both of which are actually hard to model in game form and doesn't really add much to game play. Just throwing in a RNG and the various jam types doesn't really make for fun play, just frustration, and it isn't realistic to boot. I'd rather not have to run around the T&H maps with a bricked gun because I loaded PPC ammo into it instead of Remington ammo.
@@MajorMay0o0 Like Pugsalot said, it would have to be toggleable. The reason behind the malfunction doesn't really matter. Malfunctions happen in real life constantly. Having a 1 in x chance to get one would be a good change of pace. Basically just assume you have a worn gun or bad ammo.
holy snap I've only watched the first 2 minutes of this video and I'm already throwing my money at the screen. I had to pause the video to type this. I've bought Receiver 2 already and I love that they are working on a VR mode. SO cool! Ok back to the video... hope I don't change my opinion, lol
I bought receiver 2 shortly after it came out and I was really impressed, never actually beat it but put a good 15 hours into it. My thoughts were that it would benefit from being in vr rather than being a cool thought experiment. I would love it if the controls on the firearms were actually manipulated instead of buttons on the controllers.
H3VR does actually have this in limited cases: the dragon's breath causes feed failures and the flintlock has various failure states if you don't operate it properly. Anton's imagined it. He hasn't done it because it wouldn't add anything positive to the game and would take an insane amount of work to implement across all the game's firearms. It's not worth it.
