The chorus section of the song is essential. Had societies in history been as optimistic as this band -- zillions of lives could have been extended. War could have been eliminated. Simple and true. Love, Cav. *
Alison Krauss has an angelic voice much like Emmy Lou Harris and I could listen to either one of these talented beautiful ladies sing the names out of the phone book and love listening to it/them.
The introduction for Alison Krauss was great. Her performance was fantastic. I first heard her as a young teen, if I'm not mistaken at the Grand Ole Opry. She has only gotten better with time.
My dad used to sing this to us and I am doing the Humane thing and just humming it. And sharing the Alison Krauss Nitty Gritty Dirt Band version with my family Thank you for this song all the performers and God bless everyone from Patrick
I was fortunate to be at this concert. The whole concert was superb, but Alison (my secret love) was absolutely outstanding! Mother Maybell smiled when Alison sang "her" song.
They don’t get any better than Alison Krauss when it comes to vocals, she’s absolutely amazing in my opinion. Jerry Douglas on dobro definitely, can’t go wrong there. Great rendition of this song.👍👍🇨🇦
Nothing Trump has done in his entire life has been in the service of God. Everything he does is for the enrichment and glory of Trump. Now you think he is suddenly going work for the benefit of others? Trump supporters are projecting their values on a candidate that shares none of them.
The harmony vocals on this live song are as good or better than any studio version, I believe. As soon as I heard it, I was blown away. So tight you can't separate the voices in your head to hear who's singing the thirds, or fifths or fourths or whatever in the harmony. And they back off the lead singer perfectly!!
Como no incluir en este maravilloso 50 aniversario, a la gigante y delicada Alison Krauss... Un álbum extraordinario y lleno de sorpresas. Muy recomendable, para oídos refinados y corazones solitarios... Nashville... Higher and higher... ❤️

I love this song, so great for a pick me up. Alison Krauss sings it well, but my favorite version is The Whites, Country Road TV with country music legends in the small audience.
Allison Krauss has an angelic voice and fronts one of the most talented groups of musicians around. Her band is called Union Station. (AKUS) Please check them out.
Alice Blue Another "Country" music band. I liked them all the way back to the 1970s. "Nitty Gritty Dirt Band" says it all. "Mr Bojangles " was my favorite. RUclips has it. As i said, I tried to get my kids to like the best of all genres of music, regardless of the culture or nationality behind it. In that, we Yanks are truly "mutts", canines of mixed breeds. We Yanks have a bad habit, I think, of being demeaning to ourselves, although I suspect that tendency comes from the huge number of people who came to the USA shores with only the clothes on their backs, ashamed of their poverty, and learned how to lighten their day by playing simple instruments, some homemade (an old galvanized steel washtub big enough to wash a small child in, cut a hole in the bottom, cut a strong willow branch for the fret board, and put a string on it made from animal sinew. That would be a typical "bass ".Cheap or old violins became "fiddles", and banjos were made from animal materials, just like the bass., and using barrel hoops for circles to enclose the skins. It works, and for us Yanks, sometimes that is all it has to do.

Thanks for posting this rare treasure from the late 80's. Excellent sound quality for a video this old [originally recorded on vhs i assume?] is the icing on the cake here !!!!! The list of legendary talent here is mind blowing -- In addition to the awesome members of the NGDB -- we have THE one and only Jerry Douglas... plus Mark O'Connor, from the New Grass Revival - Sam Bush and Bela Fleck Randy Scruggs, the late Roy Huskey, Jr. --- Paulette Carlson from Highway 101 - [precious intro to her song as a bonus] Michael Martin Murphey, John Denver, Vassar Clements, Jimmy Martin, the Carter Sisters, etc the finale [last 2 songs -- Take Me Home Country Roads, and Circle Be Unbroken] is absolutely phenomenally off the charts fantastic !!!! Thanks again, for what may be the best hour long concert p-- of all time p.s. -- will try to post setlist with starting times here soon !!!
sheerlook1 -- you are correct, i mistakenly posted that comment here, instead of where it belongs over at THE NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND and FRIENDS LIVE IN CONCERT {the full show} posted by Larry Musicman with 33,500 views currently. I reposted the comment over there where it belongs. the audio and video are a second or two offsync during most of the concert, but the sound quality is fantastic and the setlist is phenomenal - it came out right after WTCBU Volume 2 so it is basically that classic album performed live -- when you check it out, note the hilarious introduction of Lovin' On the Side at the 20 minute mark, where Jimmy Ibbotson who was such a great part of the NGDB sound and still is one of the best male vocalists in country music, proves once again -- that it's all about HIMSELF !! [no wonder he has had such a rocky relationship with the band members over the years, such a shame] thanks for your input and pointing this out, sheerlook1 !!! l
I remember back when she wore poor girl clothes and had bad teeth. She has come a long way. She sings better now too. Her voice has really grown stronger
Fabulous band: Alison gets all the plaudits but don't forget the great musicians backing her. I don't share the religious stuff that features so much in the music from the Appalachians, West Virginia and Kentucky but just love the sound. Alison could sing the Frankfort phone book and I'd listen.
Keep on the Sunny Side, also known as Keep on the Sunny Side of Life, is a popular American song originally written in 1899 by Ada Blenkhorn (1858-1927) with music by J. Howard Entwisle (1866-1903). The song was popularized in a 1928 recording by the Carter Family. -Wikipedia
She sings like the angels.
Allison Krause could sing the Oxford unabridged dictionary and have me in tears.
Oh yes!
Or the phone book from a large metropolitan city
The chorus section of the song is essential. Had societies in history been as optimistic as this band -- zillions of lives could have been extended. War could have been eliminated. Simple and true. Love, Cav. *

This song bleeds of the Depression Era.
It does The Carter Family Mother Mabel sang it!
BEAUTIFULL IN EVERYWAY , CLASS SINGER AND SO DOWN TO EARTH , NO JUMPING AROUND AND NO MINI SKIRTS
No matter what song she sings, Alison Krauss makes it angelic. That's a voice that will ring for years
Perfect !
It doesn't get any better. This is awesome
Love Allison Kraus
He was not wrong. One of the best, if not the best voice of any genre. It is pure, beautiful, and as unpretentious as it gets.

Hello Monica how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family may God bless you and your family
I think that is the secret of her success: she has kept on the sunny side of life! God has certainly blessed her with good health, talent and beauty!
All that talent and a humble spirit, too. What a combo!!!
There is a special place reserved in Heaven's choir for Alison.
Thanks Alisson...love you...
She is just amazing an amazing singer and musician I could listen her dulcet tones forever.❤️
I was fortunate to be at this concert. The whole concert was superb, but Alison (my secret love) was absolutely outstanding! Mother Maybell smiled when Alison sang "her" song.

This is the good side of American culture expressing itself. Make America Great Again....
So Johnny would support Hildabeast????
Of the 2 Prez candidates on offer, Donald J. Trump is the only choice for any person with an ounce of godly character.
Donald Trump, godly character, you have to be kidding.
Mark Stolpe Not at all. He is fighting for what is right - which is what God wants all of us to do. btw, you twisted my statement...
Nothing Trump has done in his entire life has been in the service of God. Everything he does is for the enrichment and glory of Trump. Now you think he is suddenly going work for the benefit of others? Trump supporters are projecting their values on a candidate that shares none of them.

Beautiful, thanks for sharing! I'll keep on eye on the PBS schedule.
Looking up different songs I came across this and gave it a thumb's up.
@Alison Krauss yes.
It doesn't get much better than this.
There, I found the connection between Jackson Browne and Alison Krauss, The Dirt Band was Brownes earliest professional association.
This is a special reminder to me of Sunny, Sarah and Malachi Sonnleitner
I was listening to it on another tab and thought it was Dolly for a minute haha
I've seen NGDB in concert, I've seen Allison Krauss in concert; the synergystic combination is fantastic! Allison's voice is angelic.
Allison Krauss is the woman with the greatest number of Grammy awards, 35. The men's record is also 35, for Quincy Jones.
My. Hats. Off. To. You. Young. Laday. As well. As. Bow. Too. You. Congrlations
The best version of this wonderful old song, Granny always sang to us!
Sandra Streifel George Jones sings Christmas songs
I love this song, so great for a pick me up. Alison Krauss sings it well, but my favorite version is The Whites, Country Road TV with country music legends in the small audience.
I think this is the secret to her success (or anybody's success): Keep on the Sunnyside!
I remember this band from the film, Paint your Wagon!
Beautiful!

Alison Krasse, enough said.
the NGDB got a lot of mileage out of country music artists, old and young.
Who did the original? I love Alison Krauss. My favorite woman of bluegrass
