When my wife died from breast cancer I played this song at her funeral as we closed the casket for the last time. We all stood up and sang along with tears in our eyes truly knowing there is no pain in Heaven. Four years later when my Mom died from breast cancer I sang this song to myself as the Hearst drove away. The comfort this song has brought to me during these times could never be expressed in words. Event though my heart ached when i lost them both, this song reminded me they both were in a better place.
Kevin Carroll be strong in the faith, my brother, for the place we go to there will only tears of joy...no more pain, no more suffering...the toils of this Earthly walk will have given way to seeing our Savior on his throne...It is my faith that our Father will build a new place called Heaven and that the physics and diseases that were put upon this Earth by Satan will no longer exist....my mind cannot comprehend the bliss...take care and once again, be strong in the Faith
I know We Are The World is the "All-Stars song" that gets all the attention but I don't think a country All-Stars song/video was ever done better than this.
@JohnSmith-zw8vp If you like country music,, not of today but when country music was country music years ago, you will love Children Go where I send thee. Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, The Statler Brothers, The Carter Family,. It's awesome
Roy Acuff was the nicest man you’d ever meet. I grew up a few streets away from his home on the Cumberland River. We climbed up and down those cliffs in his backyard, and when we would meet him he was so nice to us. Once I got older and started playing music, I played with Billy Collins (R.I.P.), the son of Charlie Collins who played with Roy Acuff and the Smoky Mountain Boys. I got to know him even more and……like I said, you’d never meet a nicer man.
Got diagnosed with rare form of liver cancer in March 2020 and they give me 11 months to live. Through prayers and God's blessings my chemo treatments are working. I love this version and listen to it often. All Glory to GOD.
@Grant Crawford : I know, RIGHT? So very BEAUTIFUL, yet so very painful at the same time. Makes me think of my beloved mother, who just turned 91 on October 20, 2020. I don't know how I will ever be able to let her go, but I know that one day I must. This gospel song, here performed by all of these wonderful artists, makes my heart ache in agony, but equally fills me up with a hope that will not be diminished. Yes, brings on goosebumps...and tears.
I never sing in public, but, when my mom passed away as us her kids were gathered around her bedside along with all her grandchildren, I could only express my feelings and sang this. My voice was shaking and the tears were streaming down my face, but I felt the comfort the lyrics express.I hope that if you are facing the pain of a loss, this gives you some comfort too.
My mom's friend died overseas and we didnt know so it was a shock when we found out she passed to cancer. I went to church the Sunday after we found out and the choir sang Till the storm passes over and both my mom and I cried. Hearing this song now reminds me that heaven is better than this. Yesterday I went to a funeral of someone who died of cancer and she gave her life to the lord 6 days before she passed. Im a young person and I surprise people with my love for the lord but God knows what he is doing. The lord bless and keep you all and cause his face to shine upon you and give thee peace. Let peace be within thy walls and prosperity within thy gates from now and forevermore Amen.
My mother died the same day my first child was born...I remember standing by the window in my hospital room on a coldly and cloudy day...41 years later this song still reminds me I'll see her again...Praise God!❤
A beautiful and true song. During my childhood I found solace in this song. Just at the age of 18 my Father was taken from my Mom and me. Just a few years ago my Mother was sick and alone at home. My wife and children lived just about 3 miles from her home. I saw her on a Saturday taking her some supper when she began to plead with me to stay for a while. The pleading got so bothersome, I got angry and told her I would be back in the morning with her breakfast. She was sitting on her couch in her den watching TV. I said my goodbye not kissing her on the cheek and walked down the hallway, slammed the front door, locked it and left. Sunday morning I found myself living out the words to this song. I found my Mother has passed away overnight. I stood alone at her front door as the hearse pulled up. I went outside a few minutes later from out the front door the funeral directors were bringing out my Mothers covered body on a stretcher and gently placed her in the back of the hearse. As the coach drove away I was drowning in tears. Take warning people there are many songs that speak to us. I wouldn't wish anyone in my shoes. I am so sorry Mother.😭
If your Mom was Christian, she knew the power of forgiveness. Take that lesson, and forgive yourself. A lifetime of loving her child won't be taken by a moments irritation. God bless and keep you. ❤ You will see her again someday.
That is a tremendous burden to carry. I have a similar one. My burden was lessened by a dream I had long after my brother had passed. If you are a believer, believe this. Mom is not mad, and she sure is not sad where she is...but she would be both of those things if she knew you were suffering because of her. She's free. You need to be. A few things happened the day my brother died to make me feel less heartbroken than I was. But the thing I remember most is driving aimlessly in my car, not paying attention to anything but grief, and a song came on where I immediately snapped out of my despair because the band was immediately recognizable CCR. My brother and I have an affinity for the band, especially the song Lodi. Since many of the songs from credence are way overplayed on the radio, what struck me was that I didn't recognize the song and I had never heard it before... As long as I see the light. Check it out. Then Ripple by the grateful dead came on on and I knew I didn't have to worry about my brother. He wasn't worried. Nor should you be. God Bless. Johnny Cash was my brother's favorite. This song with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is phenomenal. Bytheway, my brother's favorite song was When I'm Gone by Anna Kendrick. It was a long time before I could listen to that one. Check it out. Let It Go! (Def Leppard) Peace
It would cost 2 million dollars to get this number of prime singers together today; and this level of talent doesn't even exist among today's known singers.
My wife died yesterday and I find comfort in listening to this song. I hope she is in Heaven looking down on me. She wished that someday we will meet again.
@@ellelane3213 Same here. We had the funeral. I know a man isn't supposed to cry, but I couldn't hold back the tears. She was my best friend and now I am alone.
Totally agree Dustin. It's o.k. too to remove the word "probably". We can be greatful to the guys in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band for putting this together. This should definitely be put into a time capsule to be opened 100 yrs from now......timeless !!!
Of all the hundreds of versions of this song, this one is the all time best. Adding the final verse as a memorial to Mother Maybell was the icing on the cake!
I am truly ashamed to say I would have never discovered this version of the song if not for RUclips and it's bull crap as algorithm for once you two I have to say thank you and to the man in black Johnny you may be gone but you'll never be forgotten rest in peace man in black.
My mom and me once played and sang this song in church . She has been gone 15 yrs now and the pain from her loss has never got any better . I can't wait until we can sing it again in Heaven
Hello American people, I'm a young italian guy. And I do love bluegrass music. This music is the only cultural heritage that every country in the world should (some does) envy to the United States of America: a place where all the countries lives but one country is. Seeing how things are going there, it kills my heart. When we will rebuild this polluted, lonesome, violent world, we should restart from music. This is a good start. Save bluegrass, it's in great danger of being forgotten. May God and all the saints and angels protect your beautiful hearts.
This song not only breaks my heart and soul , but repairs them both and makes them stronger. When music can inspire thought and love as opposed to violence and hate a society will always be closer. We unfortunately have lost that. God bless us all. May we all find eternal peace and happiness.
Yesterday my mother turned 85. She died from pulmonary fibrosis about 6 years ago and loved this song. This year I've been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and the outlook on life is bleak. I am looking so forward to seeing momma once again soon. WHERE THE CIRCLE WILL NEVER BE UNBROKEN!
My dearest memory of this song is when my great-grandpa would sing it every Sunday in our small Baptist church in Sardis, Oklahoma. He would also lead us all in devotions with Go Rest High on that Mountain, gospel music and classic country sounds are so meaningful and full of great memories.
My beautiful mama passed away on May 11th, 2021 and she loved this version of this song so much that we played it at her funeral. If everyone who took part in singing this song knew my mother they would know that they really reached the epitome of their careers when they sang this at her funeral. She was an amazing woman and only the best were allowed there. Thank God for those true Christians who sang this.
I think this is a good representation of why I haven't been to the Opry in ages. Many of the men and women that made it what it was when I was a kid are no longer with us. Its just not the same.
I went there just after the flood so maybe it was permanently remodeled when that happened. I was kind of underwound at how small it appeared and there's this giant shopping center next to it it seems really hidden.
@@ColinFromSpringfield tbh its always been kind of hidden. Even back in the day when it was in Opryland you often wouldn't even know it was there if you weren't looking for it.
I am truly sorry for your loss Kim and send my love and condolences.i pray that you are comforted with many pleasant memories of the happiest times you shared together.❤️
Dave, this is Donald. I want you to know my heart is broken for you on this Christmas Eve. I am so sorry your mom passed away. Dave, I normally only reply to women but I wanted to express my sympathy to you at this most difficult time for you and your family.
@@shanephillips1730 Shane, I want you to know how sorry I am for your loss. This is especially true during the Christmas season. I turned 63 in October and both of my parents are still living. But, my wife died on December 3, 2016. We were married 28 years. You may send me another reply if you want to talk to me.
I lost my great-grandmother to COVID recently. At her funeral, I hummed this song to myself over and over again. I live at peace onowing she's living in the home in the sky with the good lord. I love you Mamaw!
*As a country musician, I grew up on these songs and artists. This music was from a better time in life. Not many songs today can compare. REAL COUNTRY.!!!!!!! YA GOTTA LOVE IT💖🔥💖*
Everyone talks about all them pop stars that got together and sang that song "We Are The World", and the radio played the Be'Jezus out of it for years yet NOT ONE RADIO STATION I can remember EVER gave THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG ANY AIRTIME. Why, there's just as many big stars of music up in this song as in that other one, and in my humble opinion, I think these shine MUCH BRIGHTER! This should have been wearing out the radio too back then, as well as right today! People may change their opinion on how they feel about feeding kids in some far away country when our economy has kids going hungry right here in our homeland, but a person usually don't never change how they feel about the GOOD LORD once they've got Him in their heart, and NOBODY looses their feelings for their Mama no matter what, so them facts make this song much more timeless, relevant, and important. And THIS rendition, with THESE beloved artists, in my opinion, is the one that should be coming through every time that radio dial turns on! BEAUTIFULLY DONE!! May the GOOD LORD above rest easy the souls of all those in this video whom HE has called on home, may the souls of my dear Mama, Papa, and all my kin gone before me be forever at peace in HIS Grace, and may the circle remain true and each link be rejoined again in that better place GOD has made prepared when our time comes round. Amen. 🎵🎶🙏🏼🕊✨️🥹❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Had my grandfathers yesterday. He was an amazing man. Always had a hav-a-tampa cigar in his mouth, but never lit it. He just likes the flavor. He loved johnny cash. I put one between his hands. Prayers for your family in this hard time
My dear, sweet mother passed away this morning. This song is about the only thing that has brought me comfort today. This song reminds me that we are only going to be apart for a little while and we'll soon be having a joyful reunion in God's celestial kingdom.
A beautiful country, gospel Bluegrass song. Could not have been sung better than what you are hearing now. A great moment in country history w/ all the great artist singing along.
I lost my mother the day after Christmas in 2020. It was completely unexpected and very hard on me and my younger sisters as we were only 22, 20 and 19 years old. She was a beloved special education teacher here in our home state of West Virginia. She will always be loved and missed everyday. After her passing I really started to question what happens after you die and hoped that she was in a place with no pain and she only feels love and joy. This song reminds me every time I hear it that she is home with God and she is looking down on us from a far with no pain, no suffering and only feeling love.
@@c.b.-11 I get great comfort and assurance to know what Bible said about death . “ Because I live , you shall live also .” ( John 11:25 ) His Word is enough for me to know we are spiritual beings having a human experience. One of my favorite verses in Bible is that ,” Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead die no more ; death has no more dominion over him .” ( Romans 6:9 ) May God keep you and watches over you all the days of your life and throughout eternity.
All my life my Dad would play his guitar on Christmas day and we as a family always sang this song. We had this played at the cemetery. We listened for a minute and at the same time myself, my Mother and my 2 sisters started singing. I know my Dad was right there with us because I felt him as we sang along. Precious memories!! We grew up going to square dances and different places. My Daddy made our life full of music, country music. I'm so grateful that he did.
I needed this so bad. I lost my amazing, loving mom to cancer this past Sunday. She would play this and sing it around the house when I was younger. I love this edit and it puts some peace and comfort knowing she's in heaven looking over me and my family. I love and miss you mom...if only heaven was closer. Hug Gramma and grampa and tell them I love and miss them. I'll see you all one day.
So sorry! I lost my g-pa 10 months ago to cancer, and my uncle 7 months ago. Both great men! Both served in the Army. Korea, and Vietnam. My uncle was exposed to agent orange. I think about them everyday!! God bless you all!!!

Lost my husband 4 weeks ago and today we're shutting my brother's life support off. Rest well Dana& Corey... Please y'all mental health, drug addiction & suicide need not a stigma. It makes the suffering ashamed and they hide from loved one's... We all need our tribe to thrive. My hubby wasn't yet 50 and my bro just 44 they have no hope now but you do, I do so I'm gonna try my best to change the views on addiction and mental health.
I'm sorry for your loss. I too need to speak out more on mental health, alcohol and suicide prevention. My Dad, in physical and mental pain took his life, by accident, when I was 12(now 76) and like many stuffed that memory down. Too painful to deal with, but our Lord Jesus Christ has given me hope and love. He will give it to you too. God bless.
Every Time I listen to this version of the circle it brings tears to my eyes. The old time country star power in this video makes feel close to the Lord and I'm not a religious person.
A true, TRUE classic. Johnny’s voice, Nitty Gritty’s back ground, the addition of so many other talents just make it perfect! Then that fiddle & banjo just adds to the whole thing. It’s MAGIC 🪄! The shot of Rossane, and that smile, nearly had me crying-she seemed so pleased to be playing with Dad. All those young faces - I miss ‘em.
I sang this song at my grandmother’s funeral and it was the hardest thing I’d ever done in spite of beginning to sing in church every week at the age of 3. I’ve always sang in front of groups but this particular song tugged at my heart when trying to decide on what to sing for her. I’m just eternally grateful that I didn’t break down while singing it….sure do miss you my precious Mamaw Genetta ✝️
This was my grandmother's funeral song. I miss her terribly tonight. The beautiful thing about this song is it holds the same meaning for so many people
This song was played at my daddy’s funeral. The man who sang and played the guitar played it just like this cause daddy always loved good picking and singing. I miss you daddy but I will see you again someday
Bobby, I want you to know I was moved by your reply. You see, both of my parents are still living. That is something I absolutely must remember. I wonder if you've ever heard Randy Travis sing this song. You can find it on youtube. Let me send one more song your way. Bobby, please listen to Michael Card sing New Jerusalem. I hope you will enjoy this song.
I just finished watching the last episode of Ken Burns' "Country Music." I never realized I was such a big country music fan! The history of the genre grab me deep in my soul.
Gary Abraham I too just finished ken Burns’s country music documentary. Between this song and other songs represented...well I’ve cried till I have a headache! So moving and reminded me of whence I came
Ditto that. Grew up with Johnny Cash and Homer & Jethro albums, but I was into rock until rap took over. Then I was country until the backlash against the Dixie Chicks. Growing up in NC this is the music of my soul and my ancestors.
I also just finished this amazing series. I'm 66 & grew up listening to all of the greats! It's so sad to see almost all of the legends have left us. Even many in this great video are now gone. RIP to all that brought us so much joy over the years!❤
This song brings back memories of my mother who died on Christmas morning back in December 25, 1991. I saw the hearst drive off from her house to the funeral home. I miss my momma but I know someday I will see her and together we will worship the Lord Jesus for all eternity.
My mother has been gone since 2006 her name was Dawn Hoffman around last week or the week before that my grandma and I invited some people over to do a celebration of life now I finally found this song again it makes me shed tears every time I hear these lines "I said that to under taker, under taker please drive slow for this lady you are carrying lord I'd hate to see her go." as well as "Oh I followed close behind her tried to hold up and be brave but I could not hide my sorrow when they laid her in the grave" I may have only known her for three of my infant life but being older it weights heavier knowing that despite being told at the age of 10 by my cousin but I digress I have her ashes and a neck lease that has her birth stone and ashes I can wear any where. I love you Mom you will always be in my heart
My Mom passed in May of 21 At her funeral we almost got ran over because the driver of the Hearst drove so slow on the highway.I think of my Mom every time I hear this song.❤
So many departed legends in this video. Rest in peace, Johnny Cash, Roy Acuff, Earl and Randy Scruggs, Levon Helm, the Carter family, Jimmy Martin, Chet Atkins, and anyone else I forgot.
I love this song so very much. It's about sorrow but it's joyful too. Hard times, hard losses but joy in the sense that we will all be reunited again in Glory. What an incredible lineup of musicians all singing from their hearts. I can listen to this over and over again. ❤
Just finished watching final episode of Ken Burns production "Country". All I can say is that I've rarely been so moved so deep in my soul. This music and its history is US! And this song in particular encompasses the heart and soul of American music. Music is our circle.
Rick Lowers you actually beat me to it! I had no idea what was the name of this song played at the very end. I just had to find the answer. I must say I learnt a lot watching these episodes on consecutive nights. Thank you Ken Burns.
I watched this series mainly because of my father who loved all music, but especially Country. Even though I am The Beatles generation, my father gave me my first Hank Williams album when I was eleven. I knew he would have loved this series and felt sad he wasn't here to see it. The other reason for watching was because I have always admired the work of Ken Burns. My opinion, he Really Outdid himself with this one !!! Amazing. Only thing is, now that it's over, what's to look forward to?
I lost my mom 17 years ago and a couple weeks after her funeral someone at my church sang this. I was sitting in the choir loft and looked out to see my brother just sobbing. Of course that set me off as well. I lost my brother 3 months ago. I am looking forward to a complete circle one of these days!
I was 9 in 77 and remember watching my uncle breath his last. Early morning we all waited till the hearse arrived at dawn to carry uncle away I never looked at life the same again I lost some childhood but gained so much wisdom
This song gets no air play on radios these days (I am not complaining of that). But the day I got in my car (2020) to leave for the mortuary to view my Momma in her casket, as I started my car, this came on!!!!! She and I would talk about country music history, and of course, a huge part of that was the Carter Family, and this song. I knew damn well my Momma was with me at that moment, only she would understand the importance to me.
I comment today as my kiddo (21 this year) was asking about the song.....another version was on Sirius Outsiders Radio, we love Eric Church..... they asked me why I love it. I explained about that day in 2020. They too were close to my Momma, she spent her final days at home (hospice and kidney failure) and they helped me take care of her, I took the day shift, sister took evenings, the kiddo took late nights. I am proud to know, even though they are not country fans, they like to talk about country music history with me as well.
Thank you Nitty Gritty Dirt Band for creating the amazing treasure for future generations to have glimpse of some of the greatest country stars ever, many who are no longer with us.
This reminds me of going to church with Grandma and Grandpa, down in Ky. in a one room church house! I grew up when people really believe, best days of my life! God Bless us all! Stay safe!
I'm in a bar band and we end every single show with this song and I have goosebumps when I'm playing guitar and all of the sudden I am hearing nothing but the audience singing along with me and over powering the entire band. It's just like church on Sunday.
I absolutely love this song , thank God I still have my mom she is 74 years old and she's still as busy as when I was a kid and this song just reminds me of all the things you need to think about these days
This song was playing the day we laid my Granny to rest in 2006. It’s hard to listen to it still, because she meant the world to me, but it’s such a beautiful song and tribute to anyone’s mother or grandmother.
Jon Strunk I feel ur heart . . It's broken. I'd like for u to listen to every word of this song. It's not just about death . . . . It's about a wonderful place, heaven. Lost my mama 2/3/19. A few months before until she passed I was unable to even touch her without pain. She's at the better place she's at now. I got there 45 mins after she passed n I was finally able to touch n kiss her, no pain. Someone told me "do not mourn the physical body. It's gone but her spirit lives on." N ya know, it's true, as hard as it might be to understand, it's true. Hold on to her spirit I'm here sweetheart! Take care . . . .
My mama was playing it the morning of my paternal grandmothers funeral. I was 5 then. Has always stuck with me.❤ I believe The Carter Family was the album she had then.
At the place where I work, they have an adult day program for people with developmental disabilities. They sing this song regularly. from my office I can hear them, but can't make out the words. Finally tracked them down, got this video. Wow what an inspirational song. No wonder they sing it so often!!

As an Arab Muslim who has consorted with people from all walks of life and has lived abroad for years, I can honestly say that the South (of the US) and we (Gulf countries) have many things in common. Be it courtesy, pride or wholehearted generosity, we uphold the same values. It is an absolute shame that this new generation favours to comply blindly with ridiculous trends forced onto them by the media while mocking the Southern traditions for being obsolete and oppressive. The South, to me, represents all that is good and honest, and holds all the beautiful memories of a better yet bygone era. God bless the South.
Well good morning. My name is Donald Mayer. I am so sorry somebody would send you a reply with that kind of language. As Johny Cash said on one occasion, I am a Christian. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior! I do not have to use that kind of language to communicate with anyone. I want to say I am glad you made your comment. Please have a good day!
@@donmayer58 Thank you Sir. Many people are unaware of this but in the Quran, our holy book, God says "...and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers (i.e. the muslims) those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant..." Christians are the closest to us by faith. We are all brothers with a difference no greater than a line drawn in sand. I thank you for your kind words Mr Mayer and hope you will keep spreading the message of piece and love between people of all faiths. Gob bless.
I think your post is frightening. While the South has much to offer, the fact is that its history is soaked with oppression, hatred and blood. Maybe those are the values you share.

@@diannenaworensky6698 Thank you, Dianne .
It's my favourite song too. Played at both my parents funerals.
In 50 years, no one has yet to record a better version of this song than this ❤
A beautiful and true song.
Thank you Sarah I believe your message however I just cannot forgive myself. She was an awesome Mother as was my Father.
Let It Go! (Def Leppard)

It would cost 2 million dollars to get this number of prime singers together today; and this level of talent doesn't even exist among today's known singers.
Doubt it
These folk here are Christians. They’d do it for free.
My wife died yesterday and I find comfort in listening to this song. I hope she is in Heaven looking down on me. She wished that someday we will meet again.

I think John was sent by God (or aliens) to wake us up!
America will fall
America is being taught a lesson by God. We will revive and survive. We are America 🇺🇸.
All music is beautiful

I'm so sorry for your loss. They say being absent from the body is being present with the Lord.
Daddy just passed in November of 22. It's a comfort.
This song not only breaks my heart and soul , but repairs them both and makes them stronger. When music can inspire thought and love as opposed to violence and hate a society will always be closer. We unfortunately have lost that. God bless us all. May we all find eternal peace and happiness.
To everyone who's lost someone they truly loved, may the circle remain unbroken

My dearest memory of this song is when my great-grandpa would sing it every Sunday in our small Baptist church in Sardis, Oklahoma. He would also lead us all in devotions with Go Rest High on that Mountain, gospel music and classic country sounds are so meaningful and full of great memories.
My beautiful mama passed away on May 11th, 2021 and she loved this version of this song so much that we played it at her funeral. If everyone who took part in singing this song knew my mother they would know that they really reached the epitome of their careers when they sang this at her funeral.

Same for me. I questioned Eternity too when My Mom Passed. I truly believe God Is who He says He Is.
@@c.b.-11 I get great comfort and assurance to know what Bible said about death .

His Word is enough for me to know we are spiritual beings having a human experience.
One of my favorite verses in Bible is that ,” Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead die no more ; death has no more dominion over him .” ( Romans 6:9 )
May God keep you and watches over you all the days of your life and throughout eternity.

Ditto that. Grew up with Johnny Cash and Homer & Jethro albums, but I was into rock until rap took over. Then I was country until the backlash against the Dixie Chicks. Growing up in NC this is the music of my soul and my ancestors.

Same I just finished watching it on PBS.
Indeed, we all follow the same thread, Ken Burns, "Country" and point us to the Lord one day. O' Lord
Amazing.
And fun fact! Momma's dad had a beer with Johnny Cash as some random bar.
My mom has end stage COPD and dementia, and was found unresponsive, and this song popped up on my page for some reason,, brings tears too my eyes

Here i am. 68 years old in june of 2024. My 92 year old mother comes to my mind when I hear this song. So many in this video have already gone ahead of us. I'm hoping for mom and I to fly before we die!
God's grace is so good ....if you are watching this we are BLESSED beyond measure.....to be alive hoping to just Touch the Hem of His Garment
Amen Brother
