that hipster "new grass" is shit. They have no identity or connection to the music, no background of being mountain-folk or southerners. They just copy it cos it sounds "cool" to them, and like to play dress up with their coveralls and old time looking clothes. They're pathetic. However Ricky is the real deal! Teary-eyed. Sounds beautiful still. Thank you Ricky Skaggs and the late Bill Monroe. Thankful for the Carter family and this beautiful song. Wow is right Ricky Skaggs. Well done from a fan in KY
My nephew sang this at my mother’s funeral who passed away at 97 a month ago. I haven’t been able to cry..the last few months had been rough..but this unleashed the tears. Thank you, I needed to let go. I was feeling guilty that I didn’t fully appreciate this incredible mother or do more with her when she was younger. She was still gardening 6 months before her death and I thought she’d live forever but alas we all need to let our mothers know how much we love and appreciate them before it’s too late.
Ricky is absolutely a mandolin master. Bill Monroe's mandolin was notorious for being hard to play because of the way he liked it set up. You can tell by how conservative he plays on this. Still an absolutely iconic moment!
I remember Ricky as a little boy being introduced by Bill Monroe. He blew them away. I appreciate Garth Brooks’ humility and kindness. Both are good souls.
my grandmother is 96 and she's doing good still in her home I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful grandmother ... she's doing ok... she remembers everything, not every little detail but she's all there. .. ...
Back in March of 1991 we played this song at my mother's funeral. She loved this song so much and she cried every time she heard it. Everyone at her funeral cried as it played also. Thank you Ricky Skaggs.
I had the sincere pleasure of seeing Ricky and Kentucky Thunder in Fort Smith recently. I gotta tell you, there is nothing else like the sheer quiet and pure music/voice that happens when Ricky begins singing. It gives me goosebumps to listen to it. It speaks to my soul. I know I can't be the only one that feels that way. What a treasure he is, with his band and all the stories he tells with his singing.

Man! Phenomenal! Always loved Ricky Scaggs. First time I've ever seen Garth look as if he was nervous or a bit intimidated by any other artist. Great moment!
My mammaw who was the most dedicated Christian woman, loved gospel music. Lately I've had this song stuck in my head. I'm not a Christian but she was. She would sing gospel music all the time. This was one she sang often. I know it because of her and her making me go to church. I guess she's been talking to me and I didn't realize it. I would never personally choose this song but she would. I lost her in 2003. I was 16 years old. I'd give anything to see her again. I will always love gospel music because of her.
