Thank you for writing of the love of fathers. Much has been written about the love of mothers, but a father's love is deep and powerful, too. It is unique, individual and devoted in ways that are difficult to put into words. A father may be a person of few words, but his connection to his children is often more precious than his own life. Fathers are often misunderstood because they are not often as open about their love for their children as are mothers. Perhaps that is a common fault,.but this story about James Taylor's father speaks volumes about the connection of love he felt with his son.

I can literally never hear Jerry Douglas play without being joyously happy. And can we just take a moment to shout out to Alison Krauss's chops as a fiddler too? There's a whole lot of "songstresses," particularly in country, who never pick up an instrument again once they make it as a vocalist. Alison just gets better and better as a singer and an instrumentalist. This is one of my favourite James Taylor songs and I've fallen in love with it all over again.

And... God bless James Taylor
For writing this touching ballad.
Alison is a treasure as is Jerry Douglas and Mr Taylor's perfect song! Yeehaw🇨🇱
@Alison Krauss I bought a dvd of Oh Brother, where art thou recently. I suspect that was useful to your fabulous career!
God bless you Alison!
@Alison Krauss I would love to get your personal info Alison!
My email is itchiray@gmail.com
The gentleness of her handling of that phrase "whisper something soft and kind"--whew!
Pure magic. Alison's gentle voice, Jerry's dobro.
The only person who can sing this better than James Taylor. This is lovely
Know body beats james lol
So this is what it sounds like on the stairway to heaven. Beautiful rendition.
Robert plant and Allison an awesome duo.who would have thought...amazing rock meets country
I just keep coming back to this one. It owns me.
She sings like an angel!
She is an angel.
And I'm her guardian Angel!
💡
SHE SURE DOES..GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS EVERYTIME!!!!
Those of us that are fans won't be surprised when we get to Heaven and Allison is standing at the Pearly Gates welcoming everyone
I’m not religious, but spiritual. Allison’s voice was touched by the angels! Prove me wrong
One of the most talented singers ever! Such a pure voice - such clarity.
She is the the Woman we wait for to bring us back to real music. Love her
@Hello Robert how are you doing
Can't you just listen to this everyday, such a beautiful voice and she carries her like a lady should.
I try to. Beautiful. Just beautiful. You can lay back, take a deep breath, close your eyes and your whole body relaxes.
She's country and bluegrass and the voice and the face of an angel
Only the Angel Allison Krause can cover a classic from a legendary singer songwriter like sweet baby James.
And deliver at his level of excellence
My neighbors used to hate this song but i promise you they knew every word
Always felt this song in my heart. In Australia
PMSL you cant please everyone Scott lol
Glorious
I bought one of Alison's CD"s and I woke my daughter super early and went for an early morning, Mommy Daughter Day, and we both sang every song as loud as we could. Had a To-go breakfast and lunch while talked and listened to Allison's CD. One of our Together Memories. Still makes my heart feel good and cry because my daughter "Elizabeth" is grown and we can't do it again, she is making memories with her own kids now.
This is one of my favorite songs it always brings a tear to my eyes😢😭
I can literally never hear Jerry Douglas play without being joyously happy. And can we just take a moment to shout out to Alison Krauss's chops as a fiddler too? There's a whole lot of "songstresses," particularly in country, who never pick up an instrument again once they make it as a vocalist. Alison just gets better and better as a singer and an instrumentalist. This is one of my favourite James Taylor songs and I've fallen in love with it all over again.
What a gift from God. Thank you Lord
Amen
Nope..a fluke of nature and Alison herself who worked hard on cultivating the beauty of her voice. No imaginary characters took part in creating these vocals.
@@reddragonready You, sir, are a jerk.
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!!
She's perfect and the orchestra is critical too
Allison's voice is so clear and pure, I could listen to her for hours!! Love her fiddle playing as well.
like this 100 times better with JT singing it.
@@letinhsong8024 I did hear James Taylor sing this song while at the Saratoga Springs performing arts center (SPAC) NY and it was good but I do think Alison's version here is better. Now, nobody could or even should try to cover 'Fire and Rain' because that is just too personal a song and means so much to himself.
My gosh what a beautiful woman. The voice, soul first of all. Yes she is very pretty.
Goddamn...what a woman!
Holy hell...brings a grown man to tears.
As a North Carolina native every time I hear this song pride wells up in my heart.
They call me "The Carolina Rambler" and I'm headed home with this big truck. Been out here 51 years but Carolina stays in my mind.
Truckers are the unsung heroes of our supply chains. Thank you, Eagle One!
This Carolina woman hopes you made it home and Many Thanks to You!
God Bless you brother! It's a life a sacrifice. Thank you. Stay safe.
She rode a horse to work. Best woman I will ever meet. A joy to talk to. Great stories.
Beautifully sung by the great Allison Krauss and with Jerry Douglass...just beautiful!
When he wrote this song so many years ago..
sweet baby James could have never imagined it being brought back to him like this.
