Flying Machines was his band, Susan was his girlfriend who committed suicide, his body ached in verse two because he was detoxing, this song is about real events in his life! That is what a singer-songwriter like Taylor Swift does! What an incredible pair!
And I bet he never knew that he'd be signing this for the rest of his life when he released it in 1970
@@CathyLarkinWebSavvyPR...I wouldn't take that bet.
The rapidity with which it gained incredible airplay would hint otherwise
The best songs are inspired by pain and loss.
The name is Suzanne and a plane crash.
Fantastic!
Taylor Swift will always be my friend... Her music is cut from a different cloth and the covers she chooses are magical too...
Tears flowing. I love how her crowd goes crazy for James. So beautiful!!! James is an amazing human being, truly humble and gracious 🙏🙏🙏
A very nice collaboration between generations and the audience loved it, as did I. We need more of this to bring us together.
James Taylor is my dad's favorite musician. Taylor Swift is one of mine. Beautiful.
To both of you, I’ve seen sunny days I thought would never end. A tribute to your name sake! Both of you are brilliant performers!
I have to say that Taylor has always shown appreciation and respect for the musicians and artists who came before her... and for that I respect her as an artist, whether or not I'm a fan of her music.
The pure joy of making music, by two great ones
They gave him a hell of an ovation and seemed to know his song well enough to sing it pretty clearly, so it seems to me that a lot more than only 6% of that audience knew who he was. I have to admit that this video really improved my prior opinion of Taylor Swift.
Same here.
Wondering what's your problem with Taylor? She seems to me to be a beautiful, generous, humble, talented musician who's been attacked viciously for no apparent reason.
@@teresabelardes7210 I’m still trying to sell my mother that Taylor Swift is a genius!!!
They may not have known his name, but they knew the song.
HIS SONG, SUNG BRILLIANTLY!@@karenwaddell9396
Crowd goes completely nuts when James comes out and when he finishes - as it should be.
Yeah, yet none of them know who James Taylor is. Otherwise they'd be singing along, right?
They were....@@done1675
James is my all time favorite love. I’ve seen him maybe 7 times. I adore Taylor also. I would be in heaven to see these 2 together! Whoever posted this…THANK YOU!
Me too! Best concert was taking my 20 year old daughter to, who hurst out cryjng when he came on stage. My work as a mom was done!❤
When I was a little boy James Taylor was and I grew up listening to all his music, say what you will about Miss Taylor Swift but she is carrying on a time-honored tradition. And she does it damn well
43 years ago at the time of this comment, I bought my first Jame's Taylor album and played it all through my senior year of high school. I cried, danced, wrote poetry while I listened. I still have that exact same album. How amazing to see him with Taylor Swift for my first time, and now she is mega-famous around the world. Unbelievable.
James Taylor. My first concert back in 1977. Glad he’s still going.
Such a great concert!! So many people love both of them and all their songs. It's so great to hear all the young people who are there to see Taylor's concert know James Taylor's song. And how cool that she's named after him!!
I'm thinking it was the parents who brought their kids there that knew the song...
Taylor Swift sang this song beautifully. I cant look up to her more. That girl is an agel and the world is a better place because of her.
Wish I could have this in person! James Taylor was a favorite from the beginning + Taylor Swift Great Combination!
Love it, James' voice is just as unique as it was in his younger days, and Taylor added her magic to the song
Sounds like the crowd knew exactly who James Taylor is. What mom and dad play at home as kids grow up makes a huge impact. 💖
fantastic ....2 wonderful artists....Fair play to Taylor Swift ...and fair play to the great great man himself ..still driving people wild with excitement..I am sure after this performance many people at this concert clearly of a different generation ..will look closely at james Taylors vast catalogue of songs ..and fall in love with what they see and hear....the james Taylor sound will go on forever..and rightly so !!
Wow what a treat, the Incomparable James Taylor and Taylor Swift.. Great performance..
I love James Taylor!! I was born in 1971 so my father introduced me at a young age. My father died in 2017 of cancer being a nurse I was able to bring him home to die. At 1 point I took him outside and played James Taylor on my I pad. He was so happy and at piece. Days later he passed away. So happy to have that experience with him!
Very cool story - that is for sharing that. When my wife & I saw JT a few years ago I’d swear that parts of the concert felt like a church worship service. Whether one is religious or not there is something very spiritual & transformative about his music and his general humility.
WOW,WOW, and WOW ! How great is that Taylor! Grew up to James Taylor! Love it!
Good for her! It's not every day a legend walks on your stage and plays for you!!!
One of my favorite James Taylor songs of all time! Bonus playing with my daughter's idol, Taylor Swift! 💖🎶
Two musical legends admiring each other’s work. Taylor Swift, in particular, isn’t just a musical genius, but also a lovely human being and a most generous soul. She deserves all the success that she has earned.
What a moving performance! Loved every second.
Two of my favorite people. I have been blessed to see JT twice this year…in North Carolina and at Tanglewood. I left both concerts so moved I was crying. 💖
Wonderful 😂❤
James Taylor bowing in respect for Taylor Swift. What a gentle, humble man......got to love that. Wish we had more humbleness from all of us in this life............. We would be much better for it!
I think he kissed her hand
James taylor still killin it
STILL?!! He packs in 10,000 easy!!
I've seen him 17 in concert...most recently 4 years ago...18,000 seats filled! My ticket was $149!
I am an old SWIFTIE! I’ve seen James Taylor perform with Carly Simon “Mockingbird”. So this is just freaking awesome.
I love James Taylor and this was truly beautiful. Taylor Swift you are awesome.
49 year old guy in LA...and really dont follow taylor swift ....but what a duet...yes I got misty eyed...so beautiful
Fair dues to Taylor Swift. She took on the task of a different music from a different generation. I could see she really respected James Taylor. She is a confident, savy, and a good looking young woman.
Music is timeless in the short transition between generations ... and this Taylor to Swift episode is a beautiful and timeless expression of such a sentiment.
Wow. He's been my favorite forever. What a tremendous moment. What it must mean to him to know that this global superstar is named after him...and for her to be sharing this moment with the icon that she is named after. And i didnt think I could be more impressed with Taylor...and then here she is paying tribute to such a legend and showing us the depth of her soul and character. Just wow. ❤
Its true.....MSG is a magical place for music and sports.....add this performance to its historic legacy.....cant help but smile every time you watch this clip.....
James Taylor is timeless, Taylor Swift and JT together are WOW!
This just made me cry tears of joy for both of them and for what they've both brought to life❤

James Taylor is in class of his own. He is truly a timeless artist. One of the best artist and song writer of all time. Nobody and I mean nobody can hold a candle to this guy. Truly magnificent.
James,Is that the loudest applause you’ve ever gotten? swiftness are loud ,but loving. Salute to your caring demeanor.

I would've DIED! The whole audience is singing with him. AWESOME!
Clearly parents raised the kids on James Taylor like my mom did!!!
