Hi, she actually was the only one. Here's what Seth Meyers, who was a writer for SNL at the time, had to say about it; enjoy: ruclips.net/video/Qe0Rre35xpI/видео.html
Right? It’s even funnier than I remember when I saw it on tv back then. Seth Meyers has since described the SNL ✍️ writers’ stress trying to come up with an opening monologue for this teenaged musical phenom when she timidly walked into the writers’ room to say “hey, I wrote this song, maybe I could do it for my monologue?” And then proceeded to play this awesome gem 💎 for them. To which of course they said, “Oh, yeah, sure Taylor. If you want to”, while secretly thinking “holy crap, this is a million times better than anything we could ever come up with for her.” I also think Seth said Taylor was the only guest host to ever come prepared with their own material. Figures, eh? She *is* a songwriting savant! 🤓❤
It already is TV (tho I get you mean you want it on an album)! According to Seth Meyers who was head writer at the time, she came to the writer’s room with it pretty much ready- they only fine tuned it. He was surprised that not only had she has written something but that it was clever, poked fun at herself, and was basically rtg. With the exception of stand-up comedians who usually just do a short set of their own material, hosts generally just throw out some ideas & the writers take it from there. Some do even less. Taylor definitely has a talent for meeting the moment & proving she can laugh at herself & pop culture generally is quite clever indeed.

Taylor Swift obsessing over Andy Samberg. Jake Peralta being obsessed with Taylor Swift. It’s a full circle and I love it. EDIT: holy crap I did not expect so many likes thanks guys
I was watching the Seth Meyers interview with Howard Stern where he talked about Taylor doing this monologue, so I had to look it up…and I am not disappointed. She is so COOL! The more I see of her and read about her, the more I like her. This was when she was 19, too! Damn…. Am I becoming a Swiftie at 70 years old?
You are never too late to become a swiftie. The more you learn about her life and music the more you will appreciate it. The way she handled media slut shaming her about her dating life when she was literally a teenager and in early 20s is remarkable. The way she writes and portrays her emotion is the reason she has so many fans, because we connect to her lyrics. She is the best songwriter of my generation for sure. And the way she started with country music, and then ventured to pop so beautifully is something only Dolly Parton has ever done. If you want to start listening to her, I would recommend folklore and evermore. These are her most beautifully written albums. And before listening to her songs always read what they are about, you will appreciate them more.
@@lostinwoods07Thanks for the tips on how to get started with her music. I'm in the same boat, never really listened to her and am surprised how much I'm discovering what a badass she is, in a really good way. I'm only 4 years behind you, @jimiceleste. :-)
@007ElSenorI never heard a note of her music until seeing this. I had heard so much about her that was interesting that I decided to find out more and experience a performance of hers, despite the fact that I generally don't enjoy current pop female singers. Now I have tremendous respect for her, and that has only increased upon learning that she has determined to speak openly about her political views in defiance of others' fears and reactions. Those views happen to be very contrary to my own; but still, I have tremendous respect for her talent and some aspects of her personality and character. I predict that as she learns more she will change her mind on some things; but regardless of that, I will continue to respect her in many ways. (And listen to more of her work as it comes my way.)
The story I heard was that she was so young she thought she had to write her own monologue. When Lorne Michaells presented her with the monolgue the SNL writers had written for her, then listened to hers, he immediately ditched SNL's and went with hers!! What a talent!
Ikr. She was like 19 there! Like even if he was trying to make a point about racial inequality. Humiliating someone who did no wrong was not at all okay

For a very long time I believed in this weird image that the media had created of Taylor, but now I'm literally falling in love with her. She's literally so witty and talented!
exactly she's just a fun girl (now woman but she was a teen then) singing about her feelings and experiences and having fun with her art which she is SO AMAZING at! for years I pretended to not like her to seem like I was "not like other girls" but after rep came out I was like she's freaking awesome! people just love to hate for no reason! and they go "oh she sings about her exes all the time" but now that I'm 19 and gone through some stuff I realize how screwed up guys and relationships can be. She's a genius!
From THIS to, “Cold was the steel of my axe to grind for the boys who broke my heart/Now I send their babies presents” on invisible string. Can we all just take a moment to acknowledge the GROWTH?
I mean she’s definitely grown artistically but this isn’t an accurate representation of her songwriting skills from back then since the point of SNL monologues is to be funny and stupid
2013 - Uses someones name in a song = People don’t care and are perfectly fine 2018 - Throws the lightest bit of shade = The whole world blows up How ironic 🤔
this was aired in 2009, they posted this late i guess. but anyhow the immense hate towards her in recent years is just stupid, she has reached a certain level of fame where people can call her fake or any kind of hatred when she smiled or talked about nice things.
TRUE FACT HERE: This monoglue was THE MOST BEST MONOGLUE that SNL have ever had and still is! Once again Taylor you have made us swifties proud! By the way Tay you always make me proud
Siham Mohamed I know you commented this two years ago but you are out of your god damn mind if you think this even exists in the category of best SNL monologue.
Monologue Song (Taylor's Version) should be a vault track from Taylor Swift/Debut (Taylor's Version) 😍😍😍 and this woman has been a comedic genius since she was young!!
She’s releasing unreleased songs on the new fearless. Lets hope this is one of them (Edit OMG TY FOR ALL THE LIKES THIS IS THE MOST IVE EVER HAD HOLY CRAP)
Omg, she is just so brilliant! And open to making fun of herself. My little girl who died of cancer last year at age 12 (neuroblastoma, the same kind that killed Ronan, with whom we shared a hospital room in New York in March 2011), got me listening to Taylor Swift. This was one of Kimi's favorite of Taylor's songs. She wanted to be like Taylor when she grew up.
It's November 2017 and Taylor released her 6th album Reputation and there is a song called "This is why we can't have nice things " She goes total savage against Kanye....
I come back to watch this regularly, can never get enough. Just shows, a silly, comedic song made for a show and yet it stands the test of time. Swift really is a musical and lyrical genius.
Why? I don't hate her AT ALL. She's adorable. She's got a minor bit of talent but so do so many others without fathers who paid so she could have a career. I could name 50 people off the top of my head (I'm a promoter) who are cuter, better writers, and sing better but they also aren't going to necessarily make it. This song is goofy and not really funny until Hader came in. I don't dislike her at all. Quite the contrary. She's super sweet and I am happy for her but even this comment will get a lot of "ARE YOU CRAZY, CAN'T YOU SEE HOW AMAZING SHE IS"? I mean okay, yeah, if you like bubble gum music that is made for 10 year olds, she is fantastic. I prefer my music to be a little more, well, adult. I like my humor to be a little more funny. The best thing she did here was she was a little self affecting but in reality she did all the things she said she wouldn't do because she has to. She can't help it. She is a very sweet person and I believe is genuinely proud of who she is and respectful to her fans and for that I give her credit but in the real world of music she is just another person with some minor talent who got lucky. Nothing more. I say that will all respect to her as a person and artist. She is certainly far from talentless but multiple Grammys and this thought that she is some great song writer? Please. I can name 10 bands off the top of my head where each individual band member is a better writer than her, better musician, and better singer. I can go on and on but let's just call her what she is, a cute girl with a bit of talent who got lucky.
@@adamjcohn I respect your opinion but IMO I think she is very talented and yes other people might have better writing but so far Taylor is the only artist so far that can make me feel that way,her music seems alive and her songs are deep, especially 'all too well'.And I agree with you that she is cute and genuine but she has gotten this far also because of her fans and she has fans because of her music and well the way she treats us.Also I don't know if 'reputation' would count as adult music.'I did something bad' & other songs in her album reputation are mature songs (i think) and for kids she has songs like 'love story' which are sweet and loving. And as for her singing she might not be able to hit high notes like demi but she has a sweet and unique voice (IMO).as for her genre she switched from country to pop and was successful in both of them.fearless is the most awarded country album and 1989 is the most awarded pop album.Another reason I like her is that she does a lot for her fans like she sends gifts, invites fans to her concert and stalk them (not in a creepy way but a sweet way) THIS WAS MY OPINION (with some fact)and I totally respect your opinion And can I know the 10 bands might check out their music
funny cat13 Can’t retort on a word of that. Much respect. There is nothing in this life that (with rare exception) that you should have to explain why you like. Never feel that you should feel anything but happy that you can enjoy something or someone or whatever it is. The greatest thing you can give yourself is happiness and it comes in the form of jumping out of a plane with a chute or listening to Taylor, do it with zero explanation. You certainly don’t owe me one. The more things you love, the more things you can enjoy. She is super sweet, this is true. ::)

I came here to relive this masterpiece because I just saw an interview with Seth Meyers and Howard Stern about how apparently SNL never really directs their hosts on how to do their monologues and so she came in and said hey I wrote this and played it for Lorne and Seth and they loved it!
Actually, they usually write the monologues for the hosts! But Taylor, at 19, came to them with this fully formed comedic masterpiece that Seth fully admits was so much better than what they, experienced comedy writers, had written for her. She is so brilliant… Not to mention, writing her own song as a monologue instead of just saying what they’d written was such a typically Taylor, boss move. It was the first Taylor’s version!
Watching this video with that knowledge brings another level of appreciation. It's also been so long since I've seen and heard her this young -- you hear the difference in her voice. Really is a different era.
Jordan it’s a stupid joke song. I’d be pissed if she sang this song at her concert . Makes u wonder why every guy she dates breaks up with her. Could be shes boring or too clingy, guys hate clingy possessive women. And many young girls are like that. Not me, I don’t give a fuck

Welcome home brother! I'm 54 and a proud Swiftie. Lady's got it goin on.

Taylor: We have a great show... *Kanye West is not here*
Me: What he did was so awful, but I'm glad she can laugh about it
The story I heard was that she was so young she thought she had to write her own monologue.

I come back to watch this regularly, can never get enough. Just shows, a silly, comedic song made for a show and yet it stands the test of time. Swift really is a musical and lyrical genius.
See haters, there is a reason why we swifties love her.
And as for her singing she might not be able to hit high notes like demi but she has a sweet and unique voice (IMO).as for her genre she switched from country to pop and was successful in both of them.fearless is the most awarded country album and 1989 is the most awarded pop album.Another reason I like her is that she does a lot for her fans like she sends gifts, invites fans to her concert and stalk them (not in a creepy way but a sweet way)
THIS WAS MY OPINION (with some fact)and I totally respect your opinion
And can I know the 10 bands might check out their music
funny cat13 Can’t retort on a word of that.

Same! Just watched that interview.
