Vince Gill is the most talented male singer since Elvis Presley.
Vince is great, but no comparison to the greats like George Jones and Vern Gosdin.
Listen carefully to the way Dan Tyminski comes in punctuating the end of the intro and the beginning of the first verse. Listen carefully to the tempo. So tasteful but so powerful and from and from the entrance of just an acoustic guitar. Every musician on that stage is a master.

I am listening to musical perfection. Flawless performance by every musician. Vocals could not be better.
I mean, cmon!! This is Vince Gill's perfection of a song that he did so many years ago. It really is one of his legacy songs of many. That being said, he becomes the backup instrument and singer on this gig, because it's in absolutely more than capable hands with Alison Krauss and Union Station. The melody, patience and harmony of the whole thing is just breathtaking. It's only brief, but look at Vince at 1:16 on this video. If expressions could talk, he would be saying, "I really don't need to play my mandolin right now, because what I am hearing at the beginning of this song may be better than my original." Did I mention that his original is a masterpiece, yet somehow, Alison and Union Station raised the bar. They have a knack for doing that. Side note: Jerry Douglas' timing on the Dobro is jaw dropping.
Vince Gill has performed harmony for over 500 artists and when he did it the song comes alive and even more beautiful. He has been a master of harmony.

Vince Gill is truly amazing, a good man, father, husband, musician that transcends more than country genre, the Eagles knew he was a great choice to sit in for Glen Frey. Vince's voice is simply one of the clearest most melodic and beautiful voices of any out there, and although Frey had a good voice, if the tables,were turned Glen could never replace Vince. In addition, Vince is,a,much more talented guitarist than Glenn. I am not downplaying,Glen's talents, only the fact that Vince is a more than,worthy choice for those I've heard some here Down play Vince's abilities. He is a master guitarist, vocalist, with the voice of an,angel,clear, hits every note perfectly whether singing lead or back-up, or,anything in between. Listen to Vince's voice, here or,on,any other of his,songs posted here. He has had a long distinguished career which I hope will last for many years to,come. His own,personal music is,some of the best of the,business,and,many others stand in line to,arrange for him to,sing on their own,recordings. Anything he is a part of is improved by his singing,and playing. Amy,Grant, his,wife, and him,are,a,great couple. Thank you,Gill for a life of talent and for a life of sharing it with us. Another one of those hidden treasures. Their voices blend into this heavenly third voice that is transcendental. From the first note to the last it is a magical journey. Her voice is so crystal clear and Vince has humbly stepped back and supported Alison with brilliant harmony. This is just angelic.

We used to do this type of stuff at work when someone was promoted; it's called a roasting. When Jerry plays his dobro it truly defines what continuity means. Beautifully played and sung.
Jerry is good but Dan Tyminski is very good also. He was in the front of the stage when Union Station backed her up. The boy also kicks but on the mandolin.

One of the greatest things about this type of music is when this many great musicians and vocalist can make their contributions to a performance to make it amazing without jealousy or upstaging each other. We as fans only show our ignorance by arguing who is better instead of simply enjoying the beauty of what they have created for us to enjoy.

@@Araconox Everyone in the audience were huge fans of either or both, in my circumstance. I traveled from PA right outside Philly just to see my two favorite voices in Country music and the crowd LOVED the show. The harmonies were just stunning and the bands were right on all night long. Got to taks a picture with Allison and her guitar player Ron Block talked for a good 1/2 hour after the show
